Great video. I’d like to add something. Considering that there is not a spare tire, plan on having these 3 items handy: 1) Tire pressure gauge, 2) Portable air compressor, 3) Set of 4 lift pads. You will need #1 and #2 to maintain proper tire pressure and to inflate a flat tire with a nail in it to get you to a nearby tire store. 6:16 Do not use a USB thumb drive when setting up a Teslacam: For testing purposes sure go ahead and do it but to use it on a day to day basis? No! Why not? Get a 2tb Samsung SATA SSD, with a Sabrent SSD adapter. Costs more, but that drive will last longer. SSDs are somewhat like jump drives. While they are faster, they have limited writes.
One more tip to add: Tesla will not work with Ford Motor Credit if you’re trade-in is leased through FMC. I don’t blame Tesla for this as FMC’s process can be challenging as it is designed to be Ford Dealer friendly (thereby difficult for everyone else). Unfortunately, I didn’t learn about this until I was making final delivery arrangements with Tesla. Sadly, this meant I ended up buying my Model S from a local auto dealer (which came with a whole other slew of challenges).
Your Tesla videos have started to be recommended to me over the last few days and your Tesla content is some of the best in the community right now. loved your most recent autopilot video, keep it up! Correction: it was the Autopilot V Bad Drivers video that I watched.
You might be confusing the Gen3 connectors, which will eventually do load sharing through wifi communication, with this Gen2 connector. The Gen2 connectors were designed to be daisy-chained *or* connected through a junction box, using one circuit. See Appendix B of the manual here: www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/downloads/wall_connector_installation_manual_80A_en_US.pdf
I don't have a second Tesla yet, and sadly, the Gen3 connectors are not backwards compatible with Gen2. I'll either have to find a Gen2 on eBay somewhere or put in two Gen3 connectors. More than likely, though, we'll make due with just one connector. We can go days between charges, and it wouldn't even be inconvenient to just switch which car gets the charging side whenever needed.
I see Tesla dealerships in my area by I constantly hear that you can only order them online, someone who has gone to a dealership if they exist please explain to me your experience
Your So Tosic ordering one is really simple, I’ve been to the dealership a few times and I’m pretty sure you’re able to order one at the spot if you really want to, but ordering one online takes like 10 minutes
Noah Peinzelye hotcheston but if you buy it at the dealership do you have to wait for the car to be delivered to you or can you just drive straight out of the dealership with your new car
Did anyone else notice that at 4:32, It sais on the top right corner of the tesla screen that the passenger airbag is off? You should turn it on just in case :)
Those notices are required by law in all US-spec new cars. Passenger airbags automatically turn off when no passenger is detected, but a light must come on anytime the airbag is disabled. It is 100% determined by the weight sensors in the passenger seat and is not a manual setting.
Tip 7. Yes, when you go to CarMax you'll get an associate that hopes you plan on selling your car to them. They get a small amount for buying a trade in. You do realize those associates get paid for cars they move or buy, right? Just think that tip is a pretty low thing to do, only to go to Tesla to trade your vehicle in which, BTW, is generally the same amount that KBB trade in lists.
The Tesla Wall Connectors talking to each other via WiFi is still not implemented and may not be for some time. I have no inside information, but it would appear that Tesla's engineers may have discovered a safety issue with this feature. In the meantime, you'll have to use separate circuits for each Wall Connector.
I brought my Model 3 home with a plan to use 120v charge until I could get 240v outlet installed. The problem I found was that my 120v wall outlets in my garage were not properly grounded so I couldn’t charge at all. I therefore had to fast track some electrical upgrades. Just something to be aware of that could affect some people out there like me.
Seeing alot of new Tesla videos which are quite repetitive of previously done videos. However, I find this video very timely and containing really good info to know before taking delivery. Haven't ordered the a Model 3 yet but it should happen within a few months. Nice job and a thumbs up and maybe a referral. Saved and subscribed!
FYI-Tesla no longer matches Carmax trades effective 5/31/20. Traded in my car to Carmax and said I was getting a Tesla. The appraiser shared news of the break-up with me at the time. Tesla trade-in value was $4500 less than Carmax offered.
I just returned my 3 performance after 6 days for a refund. There were several problems they couldn’t fix. The Bluetooth could not connect. They reloaded the software, which did not help, but it did stop the rear camera from working! I just could not trust this car.As others have noted, the audible blind spot warning does not work. It does also not have reverse braking or rear cross traffic alert, which should be standard on a 65 thousand dollar car. Loved it and hated it, but could not convince myself to keep it.
Jackson Gil told me it would take 6 to 8 weeks. I’m glad I didn’t take out a loan or I would have been in trouble. Have not heard anything from them yet.
The more computerised cars have become the more unreliable they are. This fact should open up a niche market for car buyers that dont want bells and whistles.
The Tech of Tech Yes indeed, as I had my charger installed professionally. My comment referred to conduit sweep feeding your charger. I wouldn’t have accepted that level of workmanship.
If your connector were installed that closely to your power panel, you would've required the same flex conduit. 90 amp wire has a very high minimum wire bending space. Either you didn't go with 90 amp wire, or you didn't get your connector installed right next to your panel. How much were you charged for installation?
Agreed, looks horrible. Has nothing to do with code, although NEC does require that all wiring is done in a professional manner. (Article 110.12). This install should fail on that front alone!
Mesh WiFi is IMO unnecessary in most cases - most people just need a WiFi AP and connect that to the current router/switch via ethernet cable. I have spent just €5 for cable and €25 for WiFi AP to cover my parking/charging spot with a good wifi connection.
Mine was ready for delivery the day we ordered. Guessing that they may have already had the car there at the pickup place. Possibly someone ordering the same one earlier and decided to cancel and not pick up. But it was very convenient!
Better check your service panel amperage before you order that Tesla charging station. Very expensive if you have to upgrade your service from the curb. 240v charges at 22 mph , which I have found to be perfectly fine.
You can adjust your wall connector’s amperage to whatever you have. It’s no different than plugging into any 240 outlet at that point. In fact, you can even get a wall connector with a 14-50 plug.
Ok, but if you don’t have the amps to take advantage of the higher charging speed, I don’t know why the Tesla charging station would be worth the extra $$$ vs a 240v outlet and adapter? I bought a spare mobile adapter kit instead.
Sure, but the Mobile Connector is actually more expensive than the HPWC, especially when you consider the fact that the HPWC acts as its own cable organizer, too.
I have a Rav 4 2020 with 11000 miles on it. I despise going to the gas station and dislike the struggle of acceleration. The Tesla is seamless, quiet and I’d break even with the cost. The extra stuff I don’t care for although I opted for white interior. My thing is, no more gas.
I drive a tesla model 3 and haven't had an amazing experience tbh. Yeah there are fun features that other cars don't have, and the acceleration is insane, but there are lots of features that are very half baked. One of them is the adaptive cruise control, which sometimes suddenly really slows your car down while you should be going at a constant speed in a road with no obstructions, the autopilot requires you to not just have your hands on the steering wheel like you would expect, but to really press down on it otherwise it turns off. It also warms you with a really loud beeping tone if you come too close to a car at a speed that the car thinks is dangerous, but it really works way too soon, like you shit your pants when that happens while you know you had the situation under control. And most tesla's don't run on renewable energy, which is even worse for the environment than gas cars in a lot of cases, so maybe we should first switch to renewable energy sources and then to electric cars. But otherwise the car is fun to drive and has useful quirks and features.
There is no case where using electricity for vehicles is worse than fossil fuels, even when coal is the primary source of power. Replacing our demand for oil with demand for electricity is the best way to help the environment. It's also helpful to know that you can turn off the early warning altogether if setting it at "LATE" isn't enough to stop the false alarms that bother you. Thanks for watching!
Michael Pollini Right... Unless your friend lives in El Paso or something he would’ve had to visually confirm his route on the touchscreen and then not pay attention forever how long his drive is. Gtfo
Tesla at this moment is a whole lot of work inconvenience... Not enough charging stations...still waiting for more stations!! I once that is in place maybe I'll gety convenience back...this is a life style change!!
You leave your home every day with 300 miles of range. You *never* have to charge during a normal day of driving. Ever. The Supercharger network is really good, plus you can use way more third-party chargers when you road trip. Watch this for more details: ruclips.net/video/Zvb7gV0GRNE/видео.html
@@TheTechofTech If supercharging causes the batteries to heat up I wonder how many people would be aware the result of the heating will be shorter battery life.
AGreatImage This has happened to you? How long was the phone (which model?) sitting at 100% charge before it totally killed the battery? I would like to avoid this issue. Thanks in advance.
...and yet the inspector remarked at what a good job it was. I allowed him to run the conduit that way as it greatly reduced the time needed to install, which greatly reduced the expense. 90 amp wire must be run very straight. You can’t bend it without reducing its ability to handle to load, so you have to make big arcs when changing direction.

Wow. You weren’t kidding about the customer service. I just ordered my Model 3 on this Wednesday. I was assigned an Inside Delivery Specialist by Friday. However, I have been given two different delivery time frames. One says my car will be ready in 2-3 weeks and the other says 8-12 weeks. I can’t get a solid DEFINITIVE answer from anyone. And it seems the more interaction I have with Tesla, the more confusing it becomes. Any tips on who I should speak to to get the right answer? And since I’ve been educated the most by your videos, I did use your referral code. Thanks.
As I said in the video, you’re going to love the car when you get it and think this is all worth it. Keep that going through your head as long as you can. Now, there are certainly experiences that are beyond what you should put up with, but as long as you are *only* experiencing the kinds of things I mention in my video, I recommend you just press on knowing the car is worth it. I don’t have any secret advice on who to get answers from. Nobody does. It is a problem with the company and not the individual employees you talk to. They just aren’t given either the information or the control needed to give a customer like you a good experience. I’m not saying you shouldn’t voice your disapproval, but know that Tesla’s front line employees are often caught between a rock and a hard place.
You create your Tesla account as you place your order. You can then download the app and log in there, but it won’t be any use until your account actually has a vehicle associated with it. That happens on the day of delivery because you won’t actually own the vehicle until then.
Where do i create my Tesla Account? Is it gonna create one automaticly when i place the order? I know i have a lot of questions. Im gonna save for one and it is gonna take something like 6 years :(. Btw im 12 years old.
Hi, liked the video. Not a Tesla M 3 owner yet, but would like to read the manual. Is there a way to access/download the user manual before purchasing the car?
Note that the features of the car are constantly changing, and often there is nothing in any manual anywhere about something. You just have to know it's there and understand what it does by the description on the screen.

I love the whoopee cushion button.. I can't stop hitting it if somebody sitting in the back.. I say it's worth the 84k. The part I don't like.. everything is proprietary. Only Tesla can work on it
Get a 2tb Samsung SATA SSD, with a Sabrent SSD adapter. Costs more, but that drive will last longer. SSDs are somewhat like jump drives. While they are faster, they have limited writes.
First video I've gotten from you, instant sub.
These are the videos I want to see. The software analysis and ssd recommendations were spot on.
Glad you found the info helpful.
Just ordered my first model 3 after 5 years of saving!!!
Nice!
Great video with loads of useful tips. Keep up the good work man!
Thank you so much, Kieran.
when you type all that and don’t even get a heart
I definitely want to watch that video... thanks for the search criteria!
I believe load sharing requires two separate circuits. Not 1 90 Amp.unless you're making a sub panel
@@TheTechofTech ah yes makes. Didn't know the wifi load sharing was Gen only. How's the load sharing working out for you with the gen 2?
I don't have a second Tesla yet, and sadly, the Gen3 connectors are not backwards compatible with Gen2. I'll either have to find a Gen2 on eBay somewhere or put in two Gen3 connectors. More than likely, though, we'll make due with just one connector. We can go days between charges, and it wouldn't even be inconvenient to just switch which car gets the charging side whenever needed.
Speaking of tesla I just got a tesla model x today!
Sweet!
I drive a red Tesla roadster, Tesla model x, Tesla model s, Cubertruck, And Tesla model y, and he’s really correct.
Kerode Mume which one do you like the most?
How could you drive the Tesla Model Y, Cybertruck & New Gen Roadster when it's not in mass production yet.
Your So Tosic nah u gotta wait until they deliver it to you, mines comming jan 31st
Noah Peinzelye hotcheston when did you order yours
Your So Tosic like 20th of november
Did anyone else notice that at 4:32, It sais on the top right corner of the tesla screen that the passenger airbag is off? You should turn it on just in case :)
Those notices are required by law in all US-spec new cars. Passenger airbags automatically turn off when no passenger is detected, but a light must come on anytime the airbag is disabled. It is 100% determined by the weight sensors in the passenger seat and is not a manual setting.
@@TheTechofTech oh ok
I just had to wait 1 week to get mine.
Where you live? Under the production line?
I love the silver paint on that Model 3!
NEMA 14-50 is used for ranges and RV's, not clothes dryers, they use NEMA 14-30 which has a different shape neutral blade.
Wait a second, that was more than 8.... ;)
Ha!!! I forgot I added one when I made the thumbnail. Will fix soon.
He actually Changed it lmao
SahilGT - Roblox And More! RUclipsrs never fix the thumbnail. This is dedication!
The Tech of Tech That’s crazy
The Tesla Wall Connectors talking to each other via WiFi is still not implemented and may not be for some time. I have no inside information, but it would appear that Tesla's engineers may have discovered a safety issue with this feature. In the meantime, you'll have to use separate circuits for each Wall Connector.
Wow. That’s crazy. Being able to load-split is going to be critical to many homeowners as they add a second EV.
I wish I had money to buy a model 3...
“Or something from the after market” well damn how nice 😂
It's great to see that ext4 is supported, it's probably the most reliable and best for this use case of those listed.
Great advice! Just added your referral link to my M3P order.
You’re going to love your Model 3.
Also check out where the next Tesla Repair Shop is located. Could be a 2 hours drive one direction
Damn who installed that wall charger looks like crap lol
Seeing alot of new Tesla videos which are quite repetitive of previously done videos. However, I find this video very timely and containing really good info to know before taking delivery. Haven't ordered the a Model 3 yet but it should happen within a few months.
Nice job and a thumbs up and maybe a referral.
Saved and subscribed!
Thank you!
I cant wait to get a tesla
FYI-Tesla no longer matches Carmax trades effective 5/31/20. Traded in my car to Carmax and said I was getting a Tesla. The appraiser shared news of the break-up with me at the time.
Tesla trade-in value was $4500 less than Carmax offered.
CarMax told you that? Did you confirm that with Tesla?
Im waiting for the 100 things u must do video.
You made a good call.
Henry Spindler how long did you get your money back?
Jackson Gil told me it would take 6 to 8 weeks. I’m glad I didn’t take out a loan or I would have been in trouble. Have not heard anything from them yet.
The more computerised cars have become the more unreliable they are. This fact should open up a niche market for car buyers that dont want bells and whistles.
The charger installation looks like it should have been discounted. No signs of craftsmanship from this angle!
Are you familiar with codes for running 90 amp wire?
The Tech of Tech Yes indeed, as I had my charger installed professionally. My comment referred to conduit sweep feeding your charger. I wouldn’t have accepted that level of workmanship.
If your connector were installed that closely to your power panel, you would've required the same flex conduit. 90 amp wire has a very high minimum wire bending space. Either you didn't go with 90 amp wire, or you didn't get your connector installed right next to your panel.
How much were you charged for installation?
Any response? Lol
This is what happens when people confuse new car with a new baby. Did you feel to need to paint the garage as well?
Heck, yeah.
Mine was ready for delivery the day we ordered. Guessing that they may have already had the car there at the pickup place. Possibly someone ordering the same one earlier and decided to cancel and not pick up. But it was very convenient!
Why does it look like he’s standing in front of a green screen?
"We plan to get a second Tesla . . ."
. . . How much cash do you have?
Enough to buy a second Tesla. Why is that an issue for you?
@@TheTechofTech You misunderstand. It isn't an issue. I was just surprised is all.
Plain not polite
he’s doing act II
Why do you care? Stop counting other peoples coins and work on building up your own to spend as YOU like.
My parents own a model x and a model s great video I’m thinking of getting the model 3 so thanks for the help and good video
I’m glad it’s helpful to you!
10 things you must do after buying a tesla!
@todmas I would like to purchase Ur rav 4
This was recommended to me...
I AM BROKE! 😭
Dan Dan me too
I drive a tesla model 3 and haven't had an amazing experience tbh.
@@TheTechofTech Thanks for the info! I'll dig into it. Have a nice day :)
My friend bought one and the Autopilot accidentally took him to Mexico.
Michael Pollini Right... Unless your friend lives in El Paso or something he would’ve had to visually confirm his route on the touchscreen and then not pay attention forever how long his drive is. Gtfo
You're fun
Just ordered my model s ❤️ can’t wait until it gets here around August/September ☺️ this was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
That long of a wait ? Dang
@@zigzag6728 Unfortunately.
CYBER TRUCK !!!!
I ordered one but my garage is too small. So now I'm looking for a Cyberhouse.
That shirt and that hat reminds me of Elmer Fudd when I was kid watching cartoons lol
#1. Install fire sprinklers in your garage.
A gasoline powered car is 11x more likely to burn in your garage than a Tesla. ruclips.net/video/2IzVC-FGdFw/видео.html
Very good point! Tesla's have issues with fires.
Totally doubt that.
Thanks! Great videos! Word of caution, don’t leave your phone charging on 100%... it totally kills the battery.
AGreatImage This has happened to you? How long was the phone (which model?) sitting at 100% charge before it totally killed the battery? I would like to avoid this issue. Thanks in advance.
„Every licensed electrician can install it..“... your connector looks like he's got a twelve-year-old kid installed.
...and yet the inspector remarked at what a good job it was. I allowed him to run the conduit that way as it greatly reduced the time needed to install, which greatly reduced the expense. 90 amp wire must be run very straight. You can’t bend it without reducing its ability to handle to load, so you have to make big arcs when changing direction.
Is it just the camera angle or does your wall charger not perfectly vertical? It looks like it's off by about 2.5°
No glasses? You look less credible 🤔
...says the guy wearing sunglasses indoors. :)
Thank you fir being so thorough with a wonderful voice tone in explaining the important aspects needed to know in order to purchase a RSela if which u have wanted ever since my Eyez ever laid my eyes kn Ins back in the 80’s j do believe … and it’sFINALLY time to place my order …so ty again cuz I amgoing to ORDER Now!!!!!!
I have a raven s. My wife has a model 3. We have two 220 chargers.
Damn that flannel is trippy.
When is Tesla going to bring back silver color option?
Hopefully soon.
In one of your Tesla Y videos you said you have a checklist on taking delivery for looking for damage on your new car. Where can I find this checklist? I’ve ordered my Y.
HOW DO YOU GET THAT STYLE OF BLACK RIMS?!? at 0:05, I can't figure out how to.
Those are the standard 18” AeroWheels with their aero caps removed.
@@TheTechofTech Thank You!!
The videos you posted are dated and I'm buying a 2021 Model Y ASAP so please sent me any updates to Bothe the 7 thing before you order and the 9 thing you should do at delivery. TKS
After you ordered your Tesla then do you also need to download the Tesla app and do an account or do you need to do that later?
You create your Tesla account as you place your order. You can then download the app and log in there, but it won’t be any use until your account actually has a vehicle associated with it. That happens on the day of delivery because you won’t actually own the vehicle until then.
@@TheTechofTech thanks
@@TheTechofTech after i downloaded the app and log in there how is my car gonna get associated with my account?
Where do i create my Tesla Account? Is it gonna create one automaticly when i place the order? I know i have a lot of questions. Im gonna save for one and it is gonna take something like 6 years :(. Btw im 12 years old.
Your Tesla Sales Advisor does that. There is nothing for you to do. It will simply appear in your app once you have actually purchased it.
One of the better channels from the Triangle. Well done. Subscribed.
I took a test drive of an X, a few weeks ago, from West Gate.
Hi, liked the video. Not a Tesla M 3 owner yet, but would like to read the manual. Is there a way to access/download the user manual before purchasing the car?
www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/model_3_owners_manual_north_america_en.pdf
Note that the features of the car are constantly changing, and often there is nothing in any manual anywhere about something. You just have to know it's there and understand what it does by the description on the screen.
Add a another problem Alabama doesn’t let Tesla to be delivered to you have to go to TN or GA to get your car.
Yep. A few states need to get their dealer lobby in check.
Same thing here in Michigan. Tesla is suing all of the states preventing them from vehicle sales. Hopefully Tesla wins.
going to say same thing. I had to goto Chicago, IL.
Don’t forget Texas.
