Cost of 20 years servicing, brakes, repairs to ancient technology like carbs, shafts, etc, fuel at 80% more than electric. Sounds better proposition already?

@@Clarkbar79 There's a certain snobbery to the EV fangirls. You're just supposed to have $100k to drop on a car at any given time. You're just supposed to have a house, kitted out with Tesla solar panels and Powerwall, to charge your EV. You're just supposed to want to go where they do, in the time and manner of their choosing.
Minor shipping damage is common and if correctly repaired is not worth waiting for a replacement. Which may also be damaged in transit and have to be repaired.
This video is spot on! Had to walk away from our Model 3 yesterday after major paint issues were discovered during our delivery appointment. I only wish I had come across this video beforehand...such a frustrating day yesterday.
Great video- quick, clear, complete. But none of it pertained to my situation: FWIW, I had one day to buy a Model 3 before the big federal tax credit expired at the end of June, and it went super smoothly and I've had no problems with the car. Called the dealer at 10am to see what they had, and they had one on the lot, so I got my ducks in a row and called back at noon, but that one had gotten sold. Salesman called back 10 minutes later to tell me they found one at another dealer and were having it trucked over to their dealership. I went up there 5pm and drove it home 7pm, surrounded on 3 sides by the most incredible lightning storm I've ever seen- a pat on the back from Nikolas Tesla.
I love the sales process. Meet with the guy and basically checked the features I wanted and took out the ones I didn’t want (long range, rwd, red, without autopilot). No haggling required and I wasn’t messed with having being pressured to get this or not.
Setting up pickup was a hassle. I was on jury duty and service center for pickup 3 hrs away. Was going to give my car to someone else if I couldn’t pick up by end of quarter (less than a week from when notified). It all worked out thankfully and will have had it a year this week. Best car ever.
Good advice on what to expect. Communications were terrible last year for my M3 purchase; lately, communications with Tesla are sometimes much better. A friend of mine recently ordered an M3 and had it delivered 2 weeks later with no communications issues. One additional piece of advice, watch all the Tesla pre-delivery videos, often your delivery specialist will have only a short bit of time to spend with you because there will be another delivery scheduled right after yours.
Excellent point! I didn't even have any time at all with a Tesla employee when I picked up my Model 3, but that's because I had already been waiting 4 hours past my appointment time and just wanted to start my 2hr drive home. That was possible because I already knew everything I needed to know about how to set up the car and drive it.
I never had an issue with my service advisor. She responded via text, email and phone. I will agree, my car wasn't delivered on time it was over a week late.
My delivery got canceled last minute yesterday and RUclips recommends your (this) video immediately... idk... thanks, algorithm...?? Anyways, good content! Wish I saw this before I bought.
Bought a model 3 two weeks ago and didn't have any issue whatsoever. The experience was a breath of fresh air compared to the typical BS dealer experience.
@@TheTechofTech Thanks, you have a good channel. I'm guessing as with all things, the buying experience can vary depending on a lot of factors. But you're correct, the buy experience is different from the normal dealer one.
I was lucky, my car was made in Fremont and picked up in Fremont, a few weeks after it was made, on the day it was promised, but a few hours behind schedule.
Cameron, you are awesome. I own a Model 3 and agree with everything you said (but couldn't have said it better!). Thanks for putting this and your safety video together. You're smart, engaging, and totally relatable. I am saving your videos to send to friends. Keep up the great work.
I can't agree more with the sales adviser. I was almost certain that the random sales associate they assigned me didn't exist as I never once got a hold of them. On the flip side. I called the actual Tesla service center once in Seattle and they took care of everything on that single call and even hooked me up with a better referral incentive.
@@Joseph27867 When I did it, it was right before they transitioned to the 6 month's of free supercharging so what he did was opt me into that program instead of the previous one I would of been on.
Howdy! Watched this video this morning. Went for a test drive this afternoon. Have made a down payment and am awaiting for my Model 3 to be ready. Also appreciate all of your excellent content on T&B and have used your referral link as a result. Keep up the great work!
Did Tesla handle (through the buying process) all of the additional fees (tax, title, registration etc) so that its built into your loan after downpayment? Thanks!
Just bought one, HAD NO IDEA about any referral link, as I started watching videos AFTER I bought... 2021, so far I screwed up the loan part, but am able to get that part fixed. The "do it yourself" route is not as awesome as a show up and have the sales guy/girl do everything with traditional dealerships. I bought the showroom model and then only bonus is, I get it in 2 weeks, instead of the 4 - 12 weeks, LOL. Its 2021 with a major chip shortage so I guess I should be happy about that.
I can say that for my Sep 2019 delivery a lot of these gripes were not a problem and have been addressed/fixed. My advisor was tremendous: timely in initial contact, response, and updates; the entire process was fantastic and smooth as glass.
Like I said, not everybody has this kind of experience, but you can just read any Tesla forum for a few days to see the logistics or lack of communication have definitely not been fixed wholesale.
All of these things happened to us. Our first car went to New York even after we had it insured and sent in the money. Appointment was cancelled 8 hours before delivery. They luckily gave us a car to drive while we waited 2 more weeks for ours to come. Then after a day found that our passenger door had a rattle. The trunk hits the bumper too. All getting fixed this week. Hopefully...
I agree. My Tesla Model 3 2018 Performance just got totalled, it saved my life. I'm replacing it with a Model Y. I don't want to drive any other vehicle after 74k miles in my Model 3. Best car I've ever owned. The Model 3 delivery experience was painful in 2018 and so far the delivery experience for the Model Y in 2020 is just as bad, poor to non-existent communication even though I prepaid $2500 cash and pre-ordered LAST YEAR.
I drove my Merc SLK250 red convertible to Tesla Super Charge center at Fashion Mall in San Diego just to see and may talk to people about their Tesla cars. Talked to Kyle who was so super excited about his Tesla -Long Range two motor unit and I almost went in and ordered one. Kyle lives in an apt so Super Charging his car is his only option, which is exactly my only option when I get my Tesla. The Charge Station was full, two cars were waiting in line for a charge pump (station). I was super impressed. I will go back again trying the find a find time when it's least busy, since I'm retired, I can go almost anytime. I'll try late at night just about closing time for the Mall or maybe after breakfast on a week day. Would like to get the name and phone of another owner to use as referral for mileage discount. Finally I asked Kyle -- if you had a choice between my Merc SLK250 red convertible with red leather seats or the Tesla - he laughed at me and of course said he would keep his Tesla. BTW Tesla people seem so much more happier than ICE car owners.
You're right about their delivery issues. My Model 3 came with two different VIN numbers. This is so screwed up that I still can't log in with my phone. For two weeks I had insured another person's car with little from Tesla other than, "This never happened before"!
Boy are you spot on . Tesla has staff in Alpharetta Georgia who apparently could care less about potential customers. We made a demo reservation about a week out, made hotel reservations where the Tesla store was located, put the dogs in a kennel and packed to drive from Tennessee to Atlanta area. We received a call from a young woman the night before we were to take off and she cancelled our demo because they sold the model Y. She and her manager had no business acumen nor understanding how business is traditionally conducted. We were totally left in the lurch and thrown under the bus by Tesla Alpharetta. This Totally soured our impression of the company and their staff. While we had checkbook in hand and we’re prepared to buy. We took this “ millennial” experience as a sign we should steer clear from buying and owning a Tesla. The kids working there just didn’t understand the value of a potential customer . I can’t imagine what it’s like if you need service on your vehicle. While the worst thing generally about buying a car is actually buying the car, Car salesmen and traditional dealerships are awful, I thought it would be different at Tesla, guess not . I don’t need to hand over $60,000 to a company that treated me like this. Thanks for your video’s they are helpful.
I’m glad you got the warning you needed before buying. I look forward to when the competition is strong, as that will give everyone options other than Tesla, which will eventually force Tesla to fix everything broken with the buyer and owner experience.
First time having Tesla, model Y in early August 2020. Got to go back few times, each time couple days for services. They never come as “mobile service “ stated. Could not even order a loaner in advance. Tesla policy! Not cool to deal with no car for few days even though Uber offered. Never experienced a brand new car with such issues and such bad customer service. Missed owning a Mercedes.
Yep. Tesla is not on a good track right now, unfortunately. I think they've turned the corner on post-COVID build quality issues, but only time will tell.
THIS! I wish I knew this sooner but then again, sometimes you need to experience it before reality sets in. We had our first major issue... I took off from work, ordered a ton of accessories in preparation, then a few days before D day, heard from the sales rep (who I haven’t heard for quite a while, thinking he dropped us completely), told us, hey, I was about to give you your VIN but there isn’t any on the system! Needless to say we are not getting a vehicle on that day as you have mentioned on this video. Lesson learned but glad to know the sales rep wasn’t singling me out or something. I really now think it was the system and not the sales rep particularly who caused it. There are other things you said we have experienced. I’ll recommend this video to any of my friends who are about to bite the bullet in the future. Thanks.
Do you Tesla owners find there are enough Charging stations to keep up with the demand ? Waiting 40 mins to charge your car is one thing, but if you have to wait behind others for Charing access, that would be tough.
Packed Superchargers are mostly a California thing, and even then, mostly a holiday traffic thing. That said, I never have to stop for gas anymore. My Model 3 has a “full tank” every day when I wake up. So, I’m saving so much time all year long that having to wait every now and then when I road trip wouldn’t be a big deal.
You forgot to mention that you will never get the range stated on the website. Always buy a LONG RANGE! If you get the SR+ your range will be about 170-180 miles on the freeway at 75mph. The rated range you might get going 45mph on flat ground.
Fantastic video again! Love that silver color! To bad they stopped making it. Also, are you related to the Smarter Everyday guy. You guys could be brothers. Very well spoken!
I take it they won't fix the trim gap that I see so much happening on them. I assume if they would you wouldn't have that offset trim on your front door I see soo many ppl have.
Just to add my two cents, I guess I got really lucky, because Tesla was very communicative after I ordered the car. It was scheduled for delivery a week after I ordered it, and other than the delivery driver arriving about 30 minutes after the slot ended, I had no complaints. The driver also called me earlier so I knew he was still coming. The car showed up in the app before they arrived too. I've not spotted any fit-and-finish issues either, aside from a very small wrinkled spot on the leather on the inside of the driver-side door. So either they're improving, or they at least get it right sometimes. 😁
Very informative videos! I've been looking at Tesla's for awhile now. With your suggestions (and others) in hand I went to our local Tesla dealer with the intention of looking at purchasing a demo model with around 1000 miles. I asked about incentives and essentially all they would offer is a $3000 CAD reduction in price (which was already applied on the "Existing Inventory" page, so not a dealer incentive). I asked about further reductions/incentives - "we don't do that here". Ok, then I asked about other incentives such as an extra set of standard rims for winter tires, a NEMA 14-50 plug for the included GEN 2 mobile charger, or a wall charger. "we don't do that here". Seriously? They are going to walk away from this for a $500 wall charger and a $50 adapter. I am - a $3000 reduction on a $80,000 car is not enough for a demo that's had a bunch of tire kickers drive since December., The sales guy asked if I wanted to talk to the manager, I said sure. I got a "very senior" salesperson. Same answer. I asked if I could see the manager and they said no problem (no idea why I didn't see him first). Talked to the manager, same answer, complete with all the same polite/slimy excuses of why they can't do X or Y that I have heard from car salesmen for 25 years. What am I doing wrong? Is this a US versus CAN thing (way more Tesla dealerships in the US)? Or is this just the way it is?
Lots of turnover in sales, unfortunately, combined with a really, really good quarter. Tesla didn't offer much incentives for 2019Q4, and people you talked to likely weren't even working there for the last few end-of-quarter pushes.
Yep. Those are the stock 18" standard "aero wheels", but with the aerodynamic covers taken off. Pretty nice! That said, you'll have to get the centercap and black lug nut covers ( an extra accessory kit for $50 at your Tesla Dealer) for a fully finished appearance for those sharp looking gray alloy 18-inch wheels underneath.
Thanks so much for this video.....Still “on the fence”...hate to get rid of my Vette to get a Model 3, but, might just do it. Honestly would prefer more mileage out of that battery.
How often do you drive more than 300 miles in a day? With an electric vehicle, you wake up each morning with a full charge. No need to ever stop at a gas station for your daily driving needs. Planning for charges on road trips is pretty easy in most spots of the country, but I'm not sure the Corvette is really a better vehicle for long distance travel, regardless. BTW, my Model 3 hits 60mph in 3.6 seconds, and you can get a Performance version that will do it in 3.1 seconds.
I ordered a long range rwd, that got sent to a different location. The advisor at the other location threatened to sell the car if i didnt buy it from him. My advisr took days to respond to emails & texts, & voicemails. Overall i canceled my order and waited 3months to get my $2,500 back from my order.
Question why is the background behind you fake ? Every time the person moves I noticed that the reflection on the car changes but doesn't change in the background of the Room , which is a red wall with a bike hanging
Not going to dis the Tesla. What happens when you need a repair? Interested in “Supercharger miles” and extra batteries. It’s an electric car, what could possibly go wrong?
The batteries have 8 year warranties. The Model 3 battery has a 30 year/300,000 mile designed life, in particular. Extra batteries should be no more of a concern than an extra engine at that point. What they’ll cost years from now is anyone’s guess because the cost of cells keeps dropping every year.
Here are some tips from my experience: 1.) Don't reserve any Tesla that you cannot prove is in production via any source besides Tesla. They can and likely will do to you what they did to me. You reserve a car, they try desperately to get you to change your order to a more expensive model, you tell them you specifically reserved the car you did because you want that car, then several weeks later they'll quietly pull a bait and switch on you and refuse to sell you the car you ordered because even though they said that car existed it never did. 2.) The 18 inch wheels are so much better than the 19 inch wheels, they handle potholes better, they are more aerodynamic, and they are more efficient. 3.) Don't buy any Tesla accessories until you get your car into your home (home charger excluded). If Tesla ends up not selling you the car you want our your car has a lot of damage to it that you will not accept then you would be forced to send all the accessories you bought back. The Tesla store has great returns but aftermarket Tesla accessory makers often charge a restocking fee and make you pay for shipping. I love Tesla on paper, but whoever is in charge of sales should be fired and the whole thing should be thrown out and redone. If someone reserves a car that is shown as available on the website they should get the car they reserved down to the most mundane of features that came with the car they reserved.
@@TheTechofTech I reserved the SR M3 that had the cloth manual seats and the manually telescoping steering wheel. It was also supposed to have the lightest battery pack for any current production Tesla but I cared more about the interior than that. They changed my order without notifying me to the software limited SR+ (The one that has heated seats in the rear that you can't use) then after 4 calls over 4 days with customer service I was able to confirm they wouldn't sell the car I reserved 4 weeks earlier. When they refused to sell me any car with the interior I ordered and I canceled my order they said it would take 4 to 6 weeks for me to get my $2500 deposit back for their screw up. I used to be angry about it but now I'm just sad that I am without an electric car because of a failed attempt at a bait and switch. From what I've read I am not alone in my bad experience with trying to buy a Tesla.
Yes, they upgraded the interior of the SR to the same premium interior I paid $6,000 for along with the full glass roof. I can’t say I’d be upset about that myself, but if you were dead set on a cloth interior, I understand why you’d be upset.
@@TheTechofTech Yeah, it was more about the Manual functions. I've heard of and seen how long repairs for Teslas can take due to very limited parts availability so I wanted something I know I could fix myself if it broke. Also I tend to trust manual things to electromechanical things. That and I prefer the feeling of cloth seats to leather or pleather seats. I could have afforded to get a LR RWD M3 instead but I specifically reserved the SR M3 for the interior. I just think if you are not going to sell something you don't allow people to reserve that thing. If you can't sell people the car they specifically ordered you should personally notify them of that instead of quietly changing their order so when they go to pick up their car they are in for a surprise....
I'm in the same boat that owning my Model 3 is worth some of the customer service issues that Tesla is dealing with at the moment. I don't want to own another ICE car again. I'm spoiled at what this car can do for me on the road. And then V10 comes out soon for us all. That's just going to spoil me even more. Tesla hasn't been doing this on a large scale for hardly any time. Growing pains are to be expected. But the product they are making is absolutely incredible.
I got a Dodge P.U. With the passenger door unable to open without great effort and had to wait a few days for it to get fixed at which time they accused me of damaging it!
I know students who went through hazing. They underwent humiliating hardships to get where they are. Now they fiercely defend their student organisation because they invested so much. Now I understand why Tesla drivers are so apt proponents of the brand: they went through the same process.
An interesting theory to be sure. I had some minor communication delays and had to pick my car up out of state due to state laws, but I found the entire process more preferable to any prior dealership experience I have had for previous vehicles. I did the research, purchased the car and have owned it for several months. I can now say with absolute certainty that Teslas have, dollar for dollar, the best cars on the road.
This is SUCH a great video. I'm so glad that you were able to help set my expectations ahead of time. I feel like you saved me so much stress and headaches. I wish I could help your channel or metrics more but here's my like and comment!
It's tough to not think about it, right? We actually put a reservation in for our Model 3 over two years before being able to buy it. That was pretty painful.
I'd love some more info on the Incentives portion, how does that actually work? Would I have to first purchase the car then call the advisor or? How exactly do we ask for a free upgrade? 😅
You have to actually use the referral link to order your Tesla. Every Tesla owner gets a referral link, and you can read more about the program at the link. Mine is ts.la/cameron16116. As far as free upgrades to the car go, not sure you’ll have success right now. The factories have all shut down, and they have more orders in queue than they’ve ever had, according to Elon. So, there isn’t much incentive for them to offer anything right now.
Just got a new Model 3 LR, and needed it in a hurry because we’d been t-boned in our Prius and had a rental car running out. Sales staff found one for us in another city and had it in town in a week - well done. The delivery process and customer service there however was lackadaisical, unprofessional, and then when we complained, turned millennial and arrogant. They refused to let my gf review the contracts properly, after they had delayed the delivery. We almost canceled, but were screwed for timing and didn’t want a non-electric. . They showed no flexibility kindness or consideration Great video, thanks.
Yes, Tesla has unfortunately become a product-focused company and is no longer a customer-focused company. Hopefully, they’ll return to their roots soon.
The Tech of Tech thanks for the comment. We’re wondering where to send our feedback and complain formally, if it matters, etc. Honestly should have torn up the contract and walked out to make the point but we didn’t have the desire or time to go through the drama, and we do like the car as expected. Oh, no joy on incentives btw, but we did ask - we had to pay for upgraded interior though we were taking whatever they had in inventory.
Those incentives for taking inventory cars typically don't appear until there are just a few weeks left in a quarter. Until then, Tesla definitely has a "take it or leave it" attitude about what they find for you if you're in a rush.
My personal experiences have been pretty good, though the Raleigh service center is one of the best. Just hang out in the Tesla subreddit long enough, and you’ll see some of the challenges others face that aren’t typical to other luxury brands.
Wow been waiting for 4months beyond the promised delivery date and getting a response from Tesla is like drawing teeth. Great video told me I’m not alone it’s incredible how bad they are but everyone says the car is worth it. Local centre in Edinburgh (Scotland) is the best but I honestly believe they get told nothing too. Watching the video has prepared me for more frustration to come thanks for that.
The farther you are from California, the worse the delays seem to be. Good luck with your wait, but as you said, you will probably think the car is worth everything you’re going through.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Do you know if a referral code can be applied after purchasing but before taking delivery? My friend didn’t use a code so I’m wondering if he’d be able to apply yours post-purchasing online.
Could you in theory buy a Tesla return it within the 7 days and rebuy it with full self driving at the lower cost if you are iffy about add full self driving on?
shateri7 why would you buy a car from a computer nerd? It’s takes decades and decades to develop a car. Musk is taking all the Tesla sales money and playing with rocket technology. He is not interested in automobiles and their owners. He is only interested to going to Mars. Good luck with your status symbol of your intellectual might
I pulled the trigger on mine. I didn't want any regrets later so I jump on the Model 3 performance. Hopefully, the 2020 version will have less imperfection. The wheel is somewhat scary though. It will have a 20" rim with pretty much a rubber tire painted on. hehe. Based on your videos, there is still no guarantee that I will get my model 3 by December 31st before the tax credit end, despite ordering in person with an existing inventory.
If you physically walk into your sales center with flexibility to take a vehicle that isn’t exactly what you ordered, you can probably drive away in a Model 3 the same day. They are under a lot of pressure to deliver as many cars as they can before the end of the year, but at the same time, their logistics are getting strained. Ask for a “stealth” Performance Model 3. It’s the standard Dual Motor configuration with the Performance software. You’ll have 18” wheels and lose nothing in real performance unless you spend time on a track.
@@TheTechofTech Yeah they did. They pressured me to take the only model 3 at the showroom. Even though it was sold as new, it has almost 1000 miles on it. And for some reason, I am not allowed to test drive it. They told me exactly that. Even though it's not a performance, I can spend an additional $2000 to reprogram the car for a faster 0-60 performance. For the reason of that mileage, shown sign of interior usage wear, panel imperfection, and not allowing test drive, I choose to wait for the pending delivery one. I would actually be happy if somehow they cannot deliver it in time and I didn't get this one. hehe. I would probably take my time and do what you said. Get a regular long-range with an 18" wheel. And if I want a little performance I can always opt for that $2000 program upgrade. The 20" wheel will be so unpractical, any small bump on the road will almost certainly crack the rim. Just as EngineeringExplained did with his 19" inch wheel. So you can imagine. My spec is overkill after thinking about it. 0-60 at 4.4sec is plenty fast enough. and 18" wheel will take longer and cheaper when it's time to change tires.
This isn’t true at all, actually. Even in states that prohibit Tesla from selling directly, they are not prohibited from having service centers. Service center locations can be seen here: www.tesla.com/findus/list/services/United%20States
Well unfortunately my state of New Mexico isn’t on that list either. No sales or service centers here. It would be a long drive to either Phoenix or Denver.
In a year, i think i will be at a point where i can afford a model 3. Now i have yet to actually test drive one but i really want to start with a Y or S...
Great video! I looked back through my emails and 64 minutes after we completed our Model 3 order online, we received an email from the local Delivery Operations Specialist. We even specified a certain delivery date due to travel and Tesla was fine with that. Otherwise, we would have received it within 2 weeks. I don't remember every detail, but the whole process was smooth with telephone calls and emails about the VIN, etc being answered immediately.
There does seem to be an element of luck and timing involved. I have talked to owners and 1/4 complained about communications or rescheduled deliveries while 3/4 said it was flawless. The best paet must be not having to deal with a car salesman. That is one of the most frustrating parts buying through a dealer any conventional car.
This video basically covers everything I tell my friends when they ask about buying a Tesla. We can’t pretend it’s a simple process when it can actually be a quite maddening one.
In your video you mentioned ordering the Model 3 at the end of the quarter for possible incentives. Do you mean making the actual order at the end of the quarter OR making the order so delivery date is at the end of the quarter?
You can't control delivery date. Most EOQs, you can buy inventory models for near immediate delivery. However, it's notable that this was not the case for the last quarter, when Tesla shipped much more inventory overseas than previous quarters.
Wow, thanks, but l’ve ordered a rava 4 hybrid😱. However, 3 months plus later l’m still waiting for its delivery. Unfortunately, for my situation , l couldn’t justify the purchase of a Tesla

So true.
I will keep this in mind when I can afford a Tesla in 20 years

@@Clarkbar79 There's a certain snobbery to the EV fangirls. You're just supposed to have $100k to drop on a car at any given time. You're just supposed to have a house, kitted out with Tesla solar panels and Powerwall, to charge your EV. You're just supposed to want to go where they do, in the time and manner of their choosing.
Minor shipping damage is common and if correctly repaired is not worth waiting for a replacement. Which may also be damaged in transit and have to be repaired.
I haven’t heard about shipping damage only terrible quality control that’s not corrected at the factory before leaving. Inexcusable.
This video is spot on! Had to walk away from our Model 3 yesterday after major paint issues were discovered during our delivery appointment. I only wish I had come across this video beforehand...such a frustrating day yesterday.
Glad you caught it in time.
Yes, Tesla seems to be able to at least sell inventory cars very quickly at the end of each quarter. ;)
I love the sales process. Meet with the guy and basically checked the features I wanted and took out the ones I didn’t want (long range, rwd, red, without autopilot). No haggling required and I wasn’t messed with having being pressured to get this or not.
Glad it worked out well for you, Eric!
Glad it worked out for you. If you ever get a chance to drive one with autopilot you might regret that decision though ;-)
Without auto pilot?? What a waste of money and amazing technology safety advantage you abandoned.

Setting up pickup was a hassle. I was on jury duty and service center for pickup 3 hrs away. Was going to give my car to someone else if I couldn’t pick up by end of quarter (less than a week from when notified). It all worked out thankfully and will have had it a year this week. Best car ever.
We also picked ours up at the end of 3rd quarter 2018. Love it.
Just bought one and took advantage of their end of the quarter incentives. (Two year of free supercharging)🤠
Awesome.
Lunar how??
k rod end of quarter incentive! You get that for buying a Tesla for the month of September
Caleb Roach end of quarter incentive. Any Tesla purchased within this month of September, you get two years free
Did you buy online or this was on an inventory car?

I can't agree more with the sales adviser. I was almost certain that the random sales associate they assigned me didn't exist as I never once got a hold of them. On the flip side. Did Tesla handle (through the buying process) all of the additional fees (tax, title, registration etc) so that its built into your loan after downpayment? Thanks!
Someday. Thanks for the pro tip about looking at existing inventory. I started to find used one in more my price range!
I was expecting another one of THOSE Tesla videos, but this actually had some really good info in it.

Good luck!
Just used your link to purchase my model 3 thank you let's both enjoy our free charging 🙂

That’s great that you were able to talk to someone in your same position who already has a Tesla.
You're right about their delivery issues. My Model 3 came with two different VIN numbers. This is so screwed up that I still can't log in with my phone. For two weeks I had insured another person's car with little from Tesla other than, "This never happened before"!
So sorry.
Thanks for the great video and suggestions; I cannot find the checklist you spoke of in #6 - Please help and thanks again!
I would love to own a Tesla!! Hopefully in the near future!!! Thanks for ur great tips!!!
Im only 14 and working for the model 2 that hopefully will come out in time for me to drive. I have over $3.5k from working. So I should be on track
Thanks.
It’s sad how consistent your experience is with what people have been experiencing literally for years without changing.
Compared to buying an ICE car (day wasted), we got it done in less than one hour! Outstanding!
Nice.
Great video. I'm planning on leasing a Model 3 after my current lease is up and this advice is so very welcome. Thank you!
Model 3 leases look pretty good, too.
No relation. Yes, I also wish they kept the Silver Metallic color. Not sure what color we'll get for our next Tesla.
Honest! Thanks, its good to watch a Tesla video without a hidden agenda.
Hmmm, I think he included his Tesla "referral code". Unless you were being sarcastic?😊
I recognize you TWANG. I must admit, that Tesla heck of a BANG.
@9:00 Can't say I remember a traditional dealer offer this great opportunity...
EVER!
I am - a $3000 reduction on a $80,000 car is not enough for a demo that's had a bunch of tire kickers drive since December.,
The sales guy asked if I wanted to talk to the manager, I said sure.

Hey that looks so much like my garage. Down to the mtn bike on the wall haha. What shade of red is that..thinking of painting my wall too?
www.schemecolor.com/tesla-logo-red-color.php Any paint shop can mix this color for you with any brand paint with the color code info.
Cool wheels. Are they the stock model 3s with the covers taken off? That could save 1500 bucks.
Great car, bad customer service
That’s too bad.
That checklist is perfect thank you!
Glad you found it helpful!
I ordered my Tesla last week. Unfortunately I didn’t use a referral link. I’m kind of sad about that...
You can contact your sales advisor and ask for a referral link to be added to your order. It doesn’t always work, but many times it does.
Question why is the background behind you fake ? Every time the person moves I noticed that the reflection on the car changes but doesn't change in the background of the Room , which is a red wall with a bike hanging
Not fake. It’s just my garage. I’ve done tons of videos in it, and you can even see the red wall in the shots of me inside.
So the free supercharging is only for a limited time???
Great advice thank you I expect to be driving a Tesla the next five years 👌
Not going to dis the Tesla.
Here are some tips from my experience:
1.) Don't reserve any Tesla that you cannot prove is in production via any source besides Tesla.
Did you order a Mid Range Model 3?
@MrLM002
Tesla doesn’t make a Model 3 with cloth seats and a manually adjustable steering wheel.

You can try. It is hit or miss, and it depends on your Sales Advisor being motivated enough to make it happen. Good luck!

You don’t have a loan until you take delivery. First payment timing depends on your bank, but it is usually a month after that.

Great job doing your video. Very helpful. Keep up the good work.
I got a Dodge P.U. With the passenger door unable to open without great effort and had to wait a few days for it to get fixed at which time they accused me of damaging it!
My wife just bought a Tesla. I would of loved to watch this video before she did. Your speaking the truth
Sadly, nothing has gotten better in the years since I made this video. Some things have even gotten worse.
I know students who went through hazing. They underwent humiliating hardships to get where they are. Now they fiercely defend their student organisation because they invested so much.
Now I understand why Tesla drivers are so apt proponents of the brand: they went through the same process.
😂
If that were the case, then the people like me who had flawless delivery experiences wouldn't be so enthusiastic.
I wish I could help your channel or metrics more but here's my like and comment!

great video. i am currently in the hurry up and wait phase with my M3P....
It's tough to not think about it, right? We actually put a reservation in for our Model 3 over two years before being able to buy it. That was pretty painful.
I haven’t gone into the dealer, but I do pass a Tesla sealer on this one road all the time. I see cars on display, idk if they’re ready to go or not
I'd love some more info on the Incentives portion, how does that actually work? Would I have to first purchase the car then call the advisor or? How exactly do we ask for a free upgrade? 😅
You have to actually use the referral link to order your Tesla. Every Tesla owner gets a referral link, and you can read more about the program at the link. Mine is ts.la/cameron16116.
As far as free upgrades to the car go, not sure you’ll have success right now. The factories have all shut down, and they have more orders in queue than they’ve ever had, according to Elon. So, there isn’t much incentive for them to offer anything right now.
@@TheTechofTech sounds good, thanks for the reply!!! 😌
We almost canceled, but were screwed for timing and didn’t want a non-electric. . They showed no flexibility kindness or consideration
Great video, thanks.
As others have said I thank you for such an informative video also. And u promise that a Tesla experience will be one of the best cars ever owned?
Nope. I think the car is the best I’ve ever owned for what I like, but the *experience* of getting a Tesla serviced is not always the best.
@@TheTechofTech yikes, care to offer any experience.
My personal experiences have been pretty good, though the Raleigh service center is one of the best. Just hang out in the Tesla subreddit long enough, and you’ll see some of the challenges others face that aren’t typical to other luxury brands.

The farther you are from California, the worse the delays seem to be. Good luck with your wait, but as you said, you will probably think the car is worth everything you’re going through.
Superb presentation. Great info and concise. Thanks a lot. I had no idea about the things you mention.

It’s rare that they allow that, but he can always try.
Could you in theory buy a Tesla return it within the 7 days and rebuy it with full self driving at the lower cost if you are iffy about add full self driving on?
Nope. They’re onto that scheme and will not sell you a car that you returned.

shateri7 why would you buy a car from a computer nerd? It’s takes decades and decades to develop a car. Musk is taking all the Tesla sales money and playing with rocket technology. He is not interested in automobiles and their owners. He is only interested to going to Mars. Good luck with your status symbol of your intellectual might
Yes we got an X when my husband went to pick up his model 3. We had a loaner and this car/suv is so cool.
Great tips, thank you! But, I don't see the checklist link you mentioned you planned to include?
It’s right there in the video description as promised.
That stinks.
Any recommendations for those of us who live in states that don’t sell Tesla’s? I would have to drive to another state to get to a service center.
Your experience definitely happens a lot as well, though way too many customers don't have your luck.
Great, detailed vlog about the Tesla buying process.
Interesting, one of my friends had a similar experience but he loves his car. Good info.
If you could would you buy used Tesla three? Or do you always recommend trying to buy a new one?
It really isn’t any different than any other brand in that regard. If you find one with the right price, a used Tesla is fine.
Nice job on the video and thanks for the check/pain points.
This video basically covers everything I tell my friends when they ask about buying a Tesla. We can’t pretend it’s a simple process when it can actually be a quite maddening one.
Really helpful and awesome video man. 👍👍👍 Thank you.
Subbed.
Glad you found the info useful.
The Tech of Tech ok good to know. Thanks again! Keep up the good work
Are these suggestions good for a used one?
If you're buying from Tesla, they almost all apply.
I used your referral link, hopefully we all get that 1000mile supercharge lol
Thanks!!! This is all good stuff to know. I'd still buy one, and not be as pissed off knowing what to expect.
Glad you find the info useful. You’re exactly the potential buyer I made the video for.
Thanks bro. I will use your referral link to order mine. Might be a model Y or a M3.
Awesome!
I could only laugh at this video as it is SPOT ON!! Good review, great insight
Wow, thanks, but l’ve ordered a rava 4 hybrid😱. However, 3 months plus later l’m still waiting for its delivery. Unfortunately, for my situation , l couldn’t justify the purchase of a Tesla
