After having worked in the warehouse that ships the boxes for several years, i can tell you they get overwhelmed with boxes for 5 to 9 year olds both male and female. They always are very short for 10 to 14 year olds and 2 to 4 yr olds.
When they send boxes to an area do they even out the boxes. Add things to make sure that the children in that group are getting about the same amount of items?
YES! As a missionary who has received and given these boxes in the jungle of Ecuador and in the capital city of Bogota, Colombia I would agree with you that the plastic boxes are a HUGE blessing. Kids LOVE to have a place to store their toys and things. They often beg us for the plastic ones as we are handing them out. Also, great tip about filling the water bottles to save space!
If u ever pack a 10-14 year old girls box I would recommend putting reusable menstrual pads and a little sports bra of some sort because they are not able to go to school on their period and they probably will never be able to go to get one. Also love ur vids!
I emailed 0CC at the beginning of this year and asked which age range received the least amount of shoeboxes last year. Their response was the 2-4 age range received the least amount of boxes, followed by 10-14 in 2018 and 2019. Maybe this information will help you decide?
I hadn't heard of Operation Christmas Child before. I've given locally before, but I'm going to check out the link. These are such great tips for giving on a budget!
I think the multiple toothbrushes is just an incredible idea i plan to dupe next year! Loved this and you gave a fantastic run down for anyone wanting to do this!
This year was my families first year. I have a 19, 17, and a 6 year old sons. We had our 6 year old pick gender and age range of coarse he picked a boy 5-9... It was an eye opener once I started doing some reading you know I am not shopping for a kid like mine... And in my reading I learned some people recommend not sending stuffed animals because of culture things and and and some other thing it was just a wow wasnt as easy as shopping for our kiddos in our back yard.. but of coarse now I am seeing videos from adults that received the boxes that would have been nice before I did ours. I still have an issue with removing the toothbrushes from the packaging its going in a kiddos mouth it should stay in the package in my opinion. for adding clothing the age range is huge... my kiddo is 6 and a 9 year old is way bigger than he is I just figured well shirts if they are too big he can grow into them... same with the socks I also added a pack of 6 adult tooth brushes with the 6 youth tooth brushes and 4 bars of soap a deflated soccer ball with a hand pump and extra needles for it some monster trucks and crayons markers pencils a scientific solar calculator note books an art set and some other odds and ends and a note for them. I know its going to Honduras. I am excited to get started on next year I told the hubby I am going to start early so I can do a few I wanted to do one for a girl but I decided to do it a week before turn in... that might be why it was harder than I thought it was going to be.. but it realy make you think when your kid is complaining about the shape of his pasta.. ( he only like the round shaped ones, never minde it all tastes the same.. and there is little ones that dont know were their next meal is coming from.)
Awww I love it! Sarah and I have hung out a couple times in person but we haven't met Lydia yet. We were supposed to last month but it got canceled due to covid. They are two of my favorites as well!! :)
One thing i always like to add to every boxis a crank/solar torch. It's a shame liddle isn't a thing in the us. They have these great little wooden toys and games that fit great in a shoebox.
This is the first I've heard of this, sounds like a good organization, with my kids grown I would love to help.also since your doing an older girl how about an younger boy.
On my blog there is a place link to enter your zip code and it will tell you the closest drop off locations to you. freedominabudget.com/operationchristmaschild/
This is my first year doing Operation Christmas Child Shoebox. Will they be ok with me giving the kid a handheld videogame device with some batteries? I’m going to give more than that, but I want to give one of the children the same joy and nostalgia I had from playing videogames :) . Also a penny skateboard and helmet would they be ok with that?

Ty! How can I get shoe box labels online?
After having worked in the warehouse that ships the boxes for several years, i can tell you they get overwhelmed with boxes for 5 to 9 year olds both male and female. They always are very short for 10 to 14 year olds and 2 to 4 yr olds.
Good to know!!
When they send boxes to an area do they even out the boxes. Add things to make sure that the children in that group are getting about the same amount of items?
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this info!
I never thought to include extra toothbrushes and stuff for family members. Thanks for sharing that idea!
Yes!! A great way to bless the whole family! You can never have too many toothbrushes! :)

Awe yay!! This makes me so happy!!

I hadn't heard of Operation Christmas Child before. I've given locally before, but I'm going to check out the link. These are such great tips for giving on a budget!
Yes!! They are an awesome organization helping children all of the world. I do think its also very important to help our local communities as well! :)
The glow sticks and that magnifying glass was really cool. Great tip on the shower curtain I wouldn't have thought about that one!
Right!? Those look like so much fun to play with!!
I love you, your channel, and your kindness. May God bless you❤️
Awe you are too sweet! This was the perfect comment to see as I sit here bawling from watching my first Lifetime Christmas movie of the season! 💕💕
This is so sweet! That's what the world needs right now! Great job 👌
Yes!! So true!!

I came back to see this video. I nearly liked this comment twice ! 😂
Kelly...you have a heart ❤️ of gold! May God bless you 💕💕💕
Awe you are too sweet! 💕💕
Thanks for putting in an afro pick. A lot of people send narrow combs when not everyone can use them if they have a different hair texture.
Don’t forget the most important- a letter to the child.❤️
Yes yes yes!! A letter is so important to include!!
But they might not speak the whatever language the letter is in
What a wonderful idea! This really touched my heart and I’m definitely going to do this with my kids! ❤️❤️
Awe I’m so glad!!!
What about manicure kit, umbrellas, rain ponchos, sun glasses, flip-flops, sewing kit and mini first aid kit.
Hi Carolyn! Yes, those would be great additions to the box!
Of course you and Lydia Senn and Budget Girl are friends-you are all my favorites on YT!
Awww I love it! Sarah and I have hung out a couple times in person but we haven't met Lydia yet. We were supposed to last month but it got canceled due to covid. They are two of my favorites as well!! :)
I’m not sure if this is that helpful but my friend and I included a reusable face mask in ours this year due to the pandemic
Yessss! That’s a great addition!!
One thing i always like to add to every boxis a crank/solar torch. It's a shame liddle isn't a thing in the us. They have these great little wooden toys and games that fit great in a shoebox.
That's awesome!! Thank you for watching!
little handcrank flashlights?
Would you say glow sticks allowed?
I am doing a version of operation Christmas child called box of joy.
This is the first I've heard of this, sounds like a good organization, with my kids grown I would love to help.also since your doing an older girl how about an younger boy.
That's awesome!!
You have to leave batteries in their package or it's considered contraband
Do we get these boxes to india?
So glad I watched this! And random question, but is that David Crowder singing your end screen? :)
Hmmm I'm not sure! Its titled La La La and one of the free songs that RUclips provides. :)
I love those earrings on you! You match your beachy home. ❤️
Oh thank you! I always forget to put on jewelry before I film! I need to more often!
Such great info, especially right now! Great vid!
Thank you so much!!
I ordered tye dye bandaids from Amazon this year.
That's awesome!!
I want to start making boxes for children. Where do I send?
On my blog there is a place link to enter your zip code and it will tell you the closest drop off locations to you. freedominabudget.com/operationchristmaschild/
I have full boxes and couldn't fit in the play dough. It didn't occur to me to spit them from the pack. Thanks.
I love this iam very inspired from this thank you sister god bless you more and more
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching! :)
Aren’t glow Sticks a form of liquid?
Lovely tips for shoebox packing. Thank you. 💕

Am a loom knitter and I was wondering if I can only send small loom knitted dolls so when they get there, they can put them in boxes where there’s no dolls?
Yes. Homemade dolls are allowed.
This is so wonderful!
I look forward to these boxes all year!!
QUALITY Content! Thanks
Thank you so much!! That means a lot!
For those who aren't aware glow sticks are not allowed this year
I like doing 2-4 boys best bc they tend to get less. In general the boy boxes get less than girls
Awesome tip!! Thank you for watching!!
hi is fiona and triona we are twins we are 10 years old can we get those we are girls in botswana
