This was a lot of work as you might have guessed we are so happy with the way it turned out.
Special thanks to our older brother James who both composed and did vocals for the music. Also special thanks to Justine, my wife who did also helped out with vocals. We definitely could not have done it without them!

when people do this kind of music videos i hate the fact that there is never a reference to what song they are doing a cover version of... except in cases like these where you can instantly go: "yeah thats from Aladdin" its acceptable.... (well those poor souls who could not place that 1+1 together missed big time in not seeing the movie as a kid :P)
on a side note you need to go full on with this and go look some more popular songs to do this kind of covers of...

There alway have someone with unique taste.
Such as NTR or Sc*t.... I hate them but there alway have someone like it instead.
But I think It should be standard for most Diablo's fan to like this video.

The scene in this MV is so fit with act V intro

  • @ZerglingOne1
    @ZerglingOne1 2 года назад +465

0:05 - 0:50 a perfect 1 for 1 cartoony recreation of the opening cinematic for act V, even the oddly slanted bridge.
0:51 in the original, he says more than just "Baal" telling him to essentially get lost, but Baal does scream "ENOUGH" (added barbarians leaping on the mountain tops to look like birds)
1:26 Some of the things added in the expansion were charms which Baal is giving out here. They give you bonuses just by sitting in your inventory and taking up space. Some of the bonuses can be quite significant like +1 to all skills in a skill tree of a class. The circular ones are small charms, the boxy one is a large charm, and the baguette-looking one is a grand charm.
1:35 Assassin (left) and Druid (right) were the two new classes added to the expansion.
1:35 It's showing the quest log for act V.
1:36 The biggest addition to sets in LoD were class-specific ones. The ones on display here are the Immortal King's set on the right, a barbarian based set, and M'avina's Battle Hymn, an Amazon set on the left...though the helm is not part of the M'avina's.
1:37 The stash in which characters can store items literally doubled in size. This was especially needed because in vanilla D2, the stash was significantly smaller than your character's inventory, and in LoD, it actually became larger than your inventory by 8 slots. There were a LOT of new items that were worth keeping added in the expansion.
1:42 You can see basically everything in the stash on the left. It was super common to just hoard every item you ever found into a stash. This stash even has the ears of some opponents that were slain in PvP. On the right, it shows an inventory filled to the brim with grand charms. This is fairly common to see, especially in PvP when you just wanted to max out your skill levels. Typically every slot in the inventory except for the Horadric Cube and a tome of town portal would be taken up by charms of your main skill tree along the top, and various small charms on the bottom row.
1:43 Baal runs, especially in normal difficulty are a quick way to reach around level 50 or so which trivializes most of the Nightmare difficulty. He can also drop some pretty good items even in normal. You go in, kill 5 waves of minions that pretty well summarize the 5 acts (with the exception of the last wave which are the only time you ever see them in the game), then kill Baal, leave, and repeat. It's worth noting here, the T-rexes as they're depicted here, are the act 5 enemies seen in the last wave of Baal's minions.
1:45 - 1:48 Baal casts a chevron of cold damage that also knocks you back. It does a lot of damage, hits you a bunch of times, and can knock you clear across the arena you fight him in. It's exactly as frustrating as it looks here if he decides to spam it.
1:49 The first quest in the game (The Den of Evil) got a secondary reward added to it in the expansion allowing you to reset your stats and skills and allocate them as you wish.
1:52 The keys mentioned here are for fighting what's called "Uber Tristram" where you fight powered up versions of the 3 prime evils Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal. There are special charms here as rewards as well as one of the hardest challenges available in the game. You get them by killing The Countess in act 1 in the forgotten tower, The Summoner in act 2 in the arcane sanctuary, and Nihlathak in act 5 in his temple.
1:55 The Ancients are 3 barbarians that you fight just before entering the final dungeon of the game. Madawc who uses double throw, Korlic who uses leap strike, and Talic who uses whirlwind. They have random equipment, so in the higher difficulties they can actually be quite difficult to defeat alone. Sometimes they can manifest physical immunities or multiple elemental immunities.
1:58 You often get enough experience from the quest that's completed when you defeat The Ancients to outright gain a level.
2:02 When you defeat them they become golden statues. They're essentially stone statues when you first come to them.
2:04 The catapults can have various damage types including fire, cold, and poison. There are also landmine ones that used to do enough damage to instantly kill you. But they toned them down eventually.
2:09 One of the quests is to rescue barbarians that are trapped in cages. There are indeed 15 of them, and it allows you to hire them from Qual-Kehk in Harrogath. They're...a bit lacking in their usefulness, being highly outclassed by basically all of the other mercenaries. You also get a Ral, Ort, and Tal rune for free which allows you to make a high resistance rune word for shields called The Ancients' Pledge.
2:19 Lord of Destruction added runes and rune words. Runes are items you can socket into your gear that add some of the rarer stats in the game that jewels and gems can't necessarily. They can also be combined in various rune words that add extra bonuses and essentially can turn a normal socketed item into an item that rivals some of the best unique items in the game. Sometimes being even much better than said uniques. A Jah rune is quite rare, being a very high rune, and it's also used in a LOT of the most powerful rune words making it highly desirable. One such rune word is Enigma which grants 1 level of the Sorceress' spell Teleport to any class wearing it.
2:32 I mean, it's exactly the item it shows. The Blade of Ali Baba is a unique Tulwar (mid tier 1 handed sword) that grants a lot of magic find and has 2 sockets for runes/jewels. Usually you'd put 2 Ist runes in it to max out its magic find capabilities.
2:34 Rainbow Facet jewels are unique jewels that can be put in any socket and they are quite powerful. Their color corresponds to their element (green for poison, blue for cold, red for fire, white for lightning) and they all cast a very high level spell on level up or death. But they also increase the damage of their given element, while also ignoring some of the resistance of the enemy for that given element.
2:35 Druids do indeed have summons. They're pretty terrible except the Grizzly.
2:36 It's common to get a high level character to blast you through the game so you can have a specialized character that may not be good at completing the game themself. Like they may only be good at killing bosses, so the hordes of enemies just wouldn't let them complete the game in a timely manner.
2:38 Larzuk, who is the act 5 blacksmith, offers to socket an item as a reward for completing the first quest in act 5. It can be useful to socket uniques or normal items to possibly get one that's compatible with a strong rune word.
2:41 The reward for killing Nihlathak is you get to put your character's name on an item. It's completely useless. That area is only good for farming late game and getting keys from killing Nihlathak.
2:43 Harlequin's crest is a high level headgear that gives +2 to all skills, life and mana per level, 10% physical damage reduction, and 50% magic find. It's a very good piece of armor, and very sought after in the early days of a ladder.
2:44 as stated earlier, rune words were added. There are quite a few of them, only about half of them are worth using ever, and only about a third are worth using on high level characters.
2:45 Nihlathak was mentioned prior. He betrays Harrogath and freezes Anya in the Frozen River.
Also 2:45 Many uniques and sets were added to LoD basically doubling the number of each. Most of the uniques worth using were added in the expansion.
    2:47 see 2:45
2:48 The ancients are found posing as statues. They're quite triumphant.
2:49 Baal is the last prime evil of the game. He is the Lord of Destruction, with Diablo the Lord of Terror, and Mephisto the Lord of Hatred.
2:52 There are demon imps in act 5, and they can teleport onto the backs of those giant demons and spray jets of fire at you. This is a nice little touch.
2:56 There are demons that shoot tentacles underground that come up, they're depicted here as are the succubus type enemies (the flying ones)
3:01 In the original cinematic, Baal shoots 2 missiles into the elder barbarian and that's the sound it makes when he explodes from them. It's not even played up for comic effect here, that's exactly what happens to him.

00:48 these are Blood Lords and Siege Beasts.
00:54 Baal’s scream resonated through Mount Arreat’s frozen mountain ranges and valleys.
00:56 There are numerous other Barbarians seen in the Act, but they're all outside of town, fighting in the surface areas, hence the leaping activity.

01:35 The original expansion of Diablo 2 included two new classes; the Druid and the Assassin; a new act (5) with 6 new quests.
01:36 The sets displayed are the Immortal King (Barb) and Mavina’s (Bow Amazon).
01:42 Baals runs, in their respective normal, nightmare or hell difficulty, were a common way to level up faster. You can check Carbot’s very first video of Diablol 2 for more info 😉.
01:44 Just Baal sat on his Throne of Destruction.
01:48 Hoarfrost: A large v-shaped wave of cold shot towards the player. It will travel until the edge of the screen and will take the player with it in the process, dealing damage several times and stunlocking as well. Travels through pillars and props but not the pit surround the Worldstone.
01:51 This is the reward for completing the very first quest in Act 1. When resetting the points for attributes, the barbarian can no longer wear any equipment.
01:52 Grinding for the Keys, to access the Pandemonium Event. This quest can only be accomplished on the Battle.net realms, in Hell difficulty. Key of Terror, given by the Countess in Act 1; Key of Hate, dropped by the Summoner in Act 2; Key of Destruction, dropped by Nihlathak in Act 5.
01:56 protected by the Ancient Ones, three statues that guard the Worldstone Keep. You must kill all three Ancients without leaving the area. If you leave (tp), they will turn back into statues and regain all their hit points. Their names are Madawc the Guardian; Korlic the Protector and Talic the Defender.
02:02 After defeating the Ancient ones, they would turn into golden statues. Once you have bested all three guardians, you will receive a ton of experience points depending on the level of the game you are playing. This event will unlock the Worldstone Keep entrance.
02:07 Diaper damage. Ignores target’s armor.
02:08 Death Mauler in the background and Baal’s minions.
02:09 A reference to the second quest; Rescue on Mount Arreat. Qual-Kehk. He will tell you that his men are imprisoned on Mount Arreat, and ask you to find and release them. In the Frigid Highlands you will find 15 captive Barbarians, in 3 groups of 5, held in wooden pens. You must break open the gate to release them.
02:20 Jah - high tier rune and valuable to trade.
02:21 direct reference to all the waves of minion that Baal would summon before facing him. These include monsters from all previous Acts.
02:21 Besides from the above-mentioned minions, we now have Demon Imps and frozen horrors.
02:33 That was the Blade Of Ali Baba, a Tulwar.
02:33 Rainbow facets have bonus damage to their element, bonus damage to all skills of their element, and they reduce the enemy resistance to their element.
02:35 Pets or the animals included in the summoning skills of the Druid.
02:36 “Rush you for free”. If you would see a game name like this you would probably be lucky since a high lvl character would help you to progress through the main quests of the game, or helping you to exp up.
    02:38 You go hammerdin Pala.
02:39 the reward from quest one, and Larzuk will socket an item for you. Like Charsi's Hammer quest in Act I, you can wait and socket your item later in the game.
02:41 After defeating the betrayer Nihlathak, Anya will tell you that he had already given the Relic of the Ancients to Baal, but to show her appreciation for your attempt, she will personalize an item for you. It appears to work with any item in the game, no matter if it is normal, magical, rare, unique, set or a rune-word item. No one cared about this btw.
02:44 Runes made their first appearance in the Diablo expansion Hellfire as usable items. They were reintroduced in Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction as a new type of socketable item along with jewels.
02:46 Nihlatak betrayed the world of Sanctuary by striking a deal with Baal. As the last surviving clan Elder, Nihlathak has been driven close to madness by his grief over the imminent failure of his clan to protect the Worldstone.
02:47 Direct reference to Prison of Ice quest. When you talk to Malah, She will tell you that Anya is missing, that she is worried about her, and believes that Nihlathak is involved. After You will find Anya enclosed in ice by the Frozen River. Talk to her, and she will tell you to go back to town and speak with Malah. Malah will give you a special thawing potion, which you can use to release Anya.
02:48 The Ancients were clearly posing before summoning them and after defeating them.
02:50 Baal was the last of the Three primer Evils to be defeated.
02:55 Now we also have Succubus.
03:02 At the end of the cinematic, Baal casts a powerful spell to the Wall’s guarding, obliterating him.
PS; like 99.99% of the D2 fans right now, I will too be playing D2R. You can find me under the name of the channel or DousKius#5779 in Discord.

0:05 The LOD cinematic opens this way.
0:52 Abridged, but pretty faithful so far.
0:55 We have Leap-ing Barbarians now. OG cinematic didn't even have birds.
1:00 Baal caresses his Soulstone in OG, but here he instead has a beverage.
1:05 Urhmm what? Can it be??? From here on nothing happens in the OG film. Carbot decided that the "Prince Ali" song from Disney's Aladdin and LOD had a child, and that child is this.
    1:17 Enemies introduced in LOD.
1:21 "Prince Ali" instead sung as "LOD"
1:27 Baal flexes Charm items instead of gold coins.
1:33 Instead of being flattered by the genie, here we get expansion pack ads.
1:48 Jabba the Hutt pun because Baal is a blubbery baddie.
2:04 The catapults randomly throw different elemental types. Here they are being loaded with various types too!
2:09 Real LOD quest is to rescue these brutes.
2:13 Jasmin (Barbarian) starts seeing the flaunting.
2:16 Eventually the Genie romances some ladies for Aladdin and Jasmin gets annoyed. aka Barbarian Bash!
2:18 The Genie is generous with making Aladdin rich. Civilian Sorcerous finds a valuable Jah rune amongst the spread wealth.
2:21 Aladdin song uses the word "menagerie" too!
2:23 Aladdin busts into palace despite Jafar's best efforts. LOD bursts into the castle too!
2:29 I guess we have T-Rexes instead of an Elephant for the grand introduction.
2:32 Nailed the Aladdin line "Ali A Baba" with a reference to a real unique sword you can find in game.
2:33 New LOD stuff crammed in here with musical cues from the Disney cartoon.
3:00 Song ends in a musically similar way to Aladdin.
3:01 Baal explodiates this dude with magic in the OG cinematic.

Mephisto: "heavens damn it, I hate Baal! Show off... "
Diablo: "I know right, oh look at me and my shiny new expansion..."
Mephisto: "yeah... come and get charms that clog up your inventory... snicker"
Diablo: "sshhh sshhh here he comes... oh yeah Baal, didn't see you there... great expansion, we're rooting for you (snicker)."
Baal walks away: "don't worry, you'll have more chances to fail... in Diablo 3!"

I felt bad for that guy he got trapped outside with Baal and his army and he looked so startled by Baal lashing out at him the way he held his hat made me have sympathy for him.
