I built an entrance to my base in a redwood tree and build 8 more mega redwood trees and one completely engulfed in flames after a lightning strike. Fun fact: for redwoods to reproduce, a fire is needed so the cones can open up and germinate the seeds. Maybe with that in mind, you should add some seedlings below the tree.

that is for Giant Sequoias- Sequoiadendron giganteum (in the Sierra). Coast Redwoods- Sequoia sempervirens- mostly grow from root sprouts. Both trees can live for thousands of years, so they are SCARRED by naturally occurring fires.

Don't bulid a lightning bolt, build a helicopter that is carrying water to put out the flames. Like in Canada's national park fashion.
The brush beneath it will have caught fire or at least be covered in soot/ coals. That would make it look even more realistic.

Good call leaving the whole tree burned. Generally when lightning hits a tree it at least leaves marks from all the way down to the ground. So even if the bottom part isn't burning yet, it should look a little blackened. Love watching you build, Scar!
I imagine the intense heat from a fire that large would dry out the leaves as well, so definitely a good choice to leave out the green.
Personally I don't think the lightning bolt would fit super well since the tree looks like it has already been ablaze for a while and having a static lightning bolt that doesnt disappear might be a bit weird. BUT you definitely should put a lightning rod on the top (away from flammables ofc) so that if someone gets lucky and is in the right place at the right time they can see it actually get struck.
Fire spread is disabled on Hermitcraft so he doesn’t need to worry about it burning down
You could add a lightning rod towards the top so the tree gets struck by lightning anytime there’s a storm ingame

14:30 hands down the most realistic illusion of flames I’ve ever seen in Minecraft! That’s seriously impressive!
Scars transitions... Shoots the arrow, tree ablaze, same hotbar, same amount of carrots, same amount of rockets, same level except slightly more green in the xp bar. The angle and position of looking at the tree was excactly the same. The eye of detail is just incredible

How does he even do the positioning so precisely?
Cub did something similar when he converted his season 5 mushroom island all into grass with his “magic mushroom” base.
He also had a clock in his hotbar, so it was even harder to align perfectly.
@@lilypadsquared8899 You can open up the same menu you use for coordinates and it tells you the angle you're looking at. Then it's just a matter of aligning it slowly.
My wife was saying, due to the trajectory of glass pains from your portal from the nether, it looks like that’s what caught the tree on fire, that’s why the fire is at the top, but the bottom is burnt also!
The tesla coil itself may be the direct cause.
I also prefer to think the fire is related to the nether portal than a lightning strike

Okay, can we talk about how absolutely gorgeous the flaming tree is? The gradients, the motion, the lighting inside!! It is so beautiful, I cannot believe that was made in Minecraft! Scars area is so absolutely fantastic from the terraforming and landscaping to the train, I am constantly blown away by his artistry. Keep it up scar! Love seeing your creativity and vision :D

Scar you absolutely nailed that tree. When trees torch up like that they spew a ton of black smoke. They also create an updraft powerful enough to blow twigs into the sky. Nice work with the tree. Looks exactly like the real deal
I think a LIGHTNINGBOLT would distract from all the amazing tree-work you did, by redirecting focus upwards and away from the forest. I personally love how the burning tree looks at all.
If anything, I would make the forest even denser, maybe with smaller trees, so that you cannot see so much sky behind the redwoods.
You could add in a few hidden lightning rods so that when it does storm on the server, lightning will strike the tree for extra effect

And maybe put together an awesome reward for the first hermit to catch a screenshot of lightning hitting the tree.
for the stumps you made, i think it would be really cool to have the toppled over logs strewn about, because the sheer size of the trees would make it really hard to move the logs. it’s like that in the redwoods.

I also think the wood would be much more greyed out and less vibrant as it would have been sun bleached for years.
As a newly graduated forestry planner, I'd suggest that you make some big trees that have broken, but also build the canopy part. It could, for example, lay over the trail. Some could have the canopy in the water, also. Maybe some where a huge branch have broken off, laying beside the tree. Not to mention a full tree, that's fallen cause of the wind, with it's root system and all. Just suggestions, but would make the forest look more alive.
I still can't believe this is just Scar's "STARTER BASE," I couldn't even build something like this in my lifetime!

No lighning bolt. Given how big the flames are, the tree has been burning for quite a while after the lightning originally struck. And, as we all know, no place gets struck twice.
(Yes, I know lighning can strike the same place twice, that's what lightning rods are for. But I think my point still stands.)

That's actually a myth. Lightning is *more* likely to strike the same place multiple times. BUT I do like the build how it is now.
@@KyouChanCake I know, but it's still unlikely to hit the same tree twice in like ten minutes. Especially since there's SO MANY other redwoods it could hit.
Scar one thing thats missing is fallen trees!! pacific northwest forest canopies are so dense to absorb as much light as possible, so disturbance events like falling trees or forest fires open up the canopy and let smaller trees or new sequoia grow in sunlight!! many trees have hollows up in the branches that get filled with mulch and let smaller plants grow closer to the canopy (they also serve the function of creating water reservoirs higher up which help these giant trees keep hydrated) Pacific northwest forests are so wildly interconnected!!
The burning tree during the day was stunning in and of itself, but my jaw literally dropped when the night reveal happened. It is an absolute masterpiece and I am in awe. Incredible build, truly the Bob Ross of minecraft. I have no words to express how amazing it looks and how impressed I am!!

"Scar-wood station and reserve" would be a great sign- indicating the train station as well as the animal reserve/zoo. Since the entrance does mark both builds :D

here's an idea. Lighting rods hidden in the tree so when the server gets thunderstorms the bolts hit the tree.

The forest looks great so far! Had 2 ideas that could be interesting in it.
Idea 1: Adding a hollowed out log beside on of the stump you can walk through with holes letting light pass through it.
Idea 2: Adding lightning rods to the flames so that during thunder storms it really gets repeatedly struck by lightning!
Cant wait to see how the whole thing all turns out :)
Scar being on half a heart while bragging about organizing his resources (6:37) perfectly describes him. You stay positive and kind while providing entertaining and well done content for the community, while struggling with health issues (and broken headphones) is crazy to me. Keep doing what your doing and pray that hopefully that you will eventually get better or healed,

I think some hidden fireplaces would give the fire some really lovely movement, while lightning rods would, when it is thundering, make it look as if it is getting hit!

Scar, your base this season is going to be the prettiest base I’ve ever seen in Minecraft history. Genuinely it’s like looking at a painting. It is an actual experience just seeing you walking through your beautiful forest.

Well with a fire like that ,there should be a firewatch tower in the forest! only you can prevent forest fires!!
And hey while you’re at it, why not build ranger/scout camps and a fenced off crop research facility too? Maybe you can even hide the scene of a climbing accident at the bottom of your crack of magic mountain

Having the rest of the entrance tree having fallen over to the side, would be an awesome piece of realism for the base! You can even work in some custom mushrooms breaking down the old wood and mulching the bark etc around it! Based on the size of the entrance tree’s stump there could even be a piece that broke off while it was falling that is leaning up against magic mountain! Just a thought but it is a beautiful build!
I love this idea, if you place it against the mountain it could be a sortoff a natural stairway too.

Leave the burnt tree burnt, but add some burnt leaves up the side of any close by tree facing it, think it should give you the mix you're looking for. What a gorgeous creation already

@@curys3607 The Lorax is a book by Dr. Seuss. There is a movie, but personally I don't care for it. It's about a boy who listens to the story of a man who cut down trees for profit and the creature who protected the forest and all it's inhabitants. And how this man's strive for progress ended up destroying this forest and himself. It's a very poignant story, one of Seuss's best, imo.
Treebeard and the other ents are coming for Scar on this.
All the hermits are terrific about this, but nobody consistency shows as much passion for building their base as Scar. Every year he just pours every last drop of his creativity and talent into making his base a living work of art, and his joy of making it really shines through in the build and the video.
Well, maybe except bdubs. You gotta include bdubs.
scar you never fail to blow us away the landscape is stunning, especially with the dead tree entrance
With the amount of flames on the tree I'd say no to the lightning on that one, since it takes a bit for the tree to get that engulfed after striking (I've seen trees do this in my long life lol). However, as an alternative... maybe add a lightning rod above it (in a safe non flammable spot so as not to make real flames on your work of art) so if a real (minecraft) storm happens, lightning will strike there and give it that extra realism :)
The HC server has FireTick turned off, so Scar could put a lightning rod right at the base of the yellow glass and not worry about his artwork being destroyed.
fire tick is off, but I'm unsure if lightning would affect the blocks in other ways
Pretty sure lightning interacts only with the rod, copper and entities

For a guy who is terrible at lighting up places to prevent mob spawning, you sure are doing some incredible lighting work with these trees. From the natural looking light down the trunks (Bdubs isn't the only one who can appreciate that, it really is masterful) to the flame of blazing glory! So well done! ❤
Paint is the PERFECT adjective for those flames because they look absolutely unreal and painted into the game!

Scar is like the greatest artist and we're all sitting at his feet learning, some of us are further along the road than others and we'll all get there in our own time and in our own way. I have to hold this view otherwise I'd give up and go home 🤣
I love these redwood trees!!! I grew up in northern California surrounded by redwoods. These remind me so much of home! They are absolutely beautiful.

Redwoods actually need fire in order to germinate their seeds!
To make it look even more realistic, you could add more charred stumps around where the fire in. Those are really common in real redwood forest.
Also, there are still multiple drive-thru redwood trees! They aren't on any main roads, but they exist. And are super cool.

9:24 i think it would be pretty cool if one of those dead trees fell over, and it fell over the river. then you hollowed it out and in the middle when you’re over the water take off the top half so it opens up over the river with an awesome view.
I like how Scar spent 3 months trying to get the mob permit and hasn't put any effort whatsoever actually building a shop for mobs. So he'll pry loose his permit here soon
Well he has been pane-stakingly building SO MANY HUGE trees, trains, had to do poe-poe stuff, and has had obstacles like the giant hill he had to destroy because the zoo is going there, and also he's had surgery, and had to recover from that. I can't blame him, what he's been doing takes alot of time and effort and he's been slowly building his way up to the shop and the zoo. I have a feeling that he would only build the shop once he builds the zoo, because they are connected by the fact he has to collect so many mobs. I don't think he 'hasn't put any effort whatsoever' I think he's been working behind the scenes and pushing himself in the hopes he can make the zoo and shop as best as possible. There is effort, we just don't see it.
@@YourOldImaginaryFriend Im not saying he isn't doing anything and agree ultimately he'll do exactly as you said, but most mobs especially hostile can't be bread so having the zoo first wouldn't help with shop. I figured he'd at least start shop with at least some mobs

I think the green leaves at the bottom would make more sense, but I think a branch falling on fire would look super cool
If the lightning bolt out of glass ends up not being made, you can put some copper rods in the tree to be struck with ingame lightning from time to time, giving the build some animation, a rare event to witness, plus the lightning will be lit, and will come all the way from the sky instead of build height :-)
What an incredible build Scar! As someone who has witnessed the Redwoods you have done an amazing job capturing them! Your base is absolutely beautiful!
The flaming tree is quite literally one of the most beautiful things I have seen in Minecraft. It’s truly incredible what you are capable of doing in this game.
I think it would be nice to see Scar's and Mumbo's forest somehow connect with eachother since they blend in so well and out of it we get a big nice forest
Scar, the amount of work you put into each and every video is absurd. The incredible detail, scale and cohesion really illustrate the value of your hard work, and it pays off so incredibly well. I love how you approach building almost like a painter. Every episode leaves me amazed and absolutely floored when I remember you're in survival! Thank you for sharing the work that you do, your passion for storytelling and your artistic eye are inspiring.
Scar, that fire is amazing! You did the "at night" reveal and my immediate reaction was "WOW! That looks awesome."
I actually gasped out loud when I saw the fire. It truly looks like something out of a painting. And then I did it again when I saw it at night. It's just so beautiful.
The burning tree is amazing! The attention to every detail and the way it is perfectly lit up at night to give the illusion of flames is incredible. It boggles my mind how you can be this good, Scar.
Nice - that matches my recent experiene with the redwoods. There was still lots of signs of fire, but the trees were so big many survived. As for the green/dead leaves, they burn from the base up, so the canopy leaves would be the last to be touched if there was ever a smaller fire event. It would also be cool to see some downed logs in the area - you could even make one fallen across a path where the middle has been sawn out so people can use the path still.
That flaming tree is insane. I love it so sooo much, keep doing watcha doing Scar because you’re art is beautiful and tells such a story
the detail in that glass is insane!!! it's as dynamic as real fire, especially glowing at night. I really love the variation the dead and burning trees bring to the redwoods
i would say no on the storm cloud and lightning bolt scar...i would say just add a few lightning rods to the tree, so when and if there is a storm on the server it might get struck by lightning.

As a californian, i can confirm that the tree with a road through it is still there!
There have actually been several of these tunnel trees, as they were popular tourist attractions. I recently visited Calaveras Big Trees, where one of them, the Pioneer Cabin Tree, fell over during a storm in 2017.

They were a popular tourist draw for decades--the one in Yosemite fell years ago, but there are 3 that I know of that you can still drive through on 101. Just be aware--they were all cut back when cars were generally smaller. If you've got a truck or a trailer or even some vans, check before you go. It can be an uncomfortably tight fit, especially if your rearview mirrors don't fold.
the fire looks absolutely amazing, it feels like a still picture of a real fire. theres so much movement and life in that glass
Legend has it that there is a lot of hidden treasure burried under a giant hourglass in the shipping district and under the pile of sand getting shoveled by a massive Goat
From afar the flames are so freaky realistic! Absolutely blew my mind! I love it the way it is. No green leaves left behind! But the lightning strike would realisticly not fit here, in real life if the tree is struck by lightning, the flames wouldn't be so high immediately. But maybe a passed stormcloud just stricking a next tree would be awesome. That tree could be just catching in fire
this was my thought too - if there is to be a lightning bolt, it should be hitting another tree!
It would be awesome to have toppled over trees that are made of charcoal as they've been burnt to a crisp from fires!
Fantastic build! I find it amazing without the cloud or lightning! I think if a large cloud and lightning bolt were added it may take away the eye from the fantastic glass work already made. Insane episode, well done.

My jaw literally dropped when I saw the glass-work at night. The amount of work you're doing Scar is absolutely insanity, it's starting to feel like it transcends what's possible in Minecraft!!
I love how scars builds look like they are frozen in time, you can see what was happening, but it's almost like a 3d picture.
I would kill to one day get a superfast buildmode of one of Scar's incredible glass works. I get that's probably not viable since I imagine there's a lot of bakc and forth and also just working in bits and pieces, but man would I love to see the process just once.
Edit: Instead of building a cloud and a lightning bolt, Scar should top the burning tree with a lightning rod so any time there's a thunder storm it'll get hit by actual minecraft lightning
Yeah but someone mentioned that then it would be hit by real fire, and the tree is made of wood
Tree ideas from Redwood and Yellowstone. From Redwood, after a tree falls, seeds/clones would grow out of the stump or fallen trunk. It may help fill out the spaces in between the trees you have now, with varying heights and sizes. From Yellowstone, lodgepole/coastal pine are highly intolerant to shade, so they self prune their branches as they grow, leaving only the top. Just an idea for smaller hairless cat trees dotted throughout your forest.

One thing that doesn't get enough recognition is the little sliding tricks Scar does for the products he's advertising.
I love your use of forced perspective, Scar. I learned from my bonsai teachers to always plant smaller trees, closer together in the background of forest plantings, to make the trees look like they were further away. You've incorporated that into your build magnificently.
I like to imagine that Jev was like "I'm gonna prank Scar by making his Deathstar into an emoji!"
And then Scar just left it like that for so long that even Jev was like "okay... that's enough of the emoji, thank you" and just started taking it down himself lmao

candles on the "pains" above the fire tree would give an illusion of embers above the going into the night sky
That's panes for glass. Sounds the same as pains, but is less painful
The speed at which I clicked this video when I saw the thumb nail was almost as insane as the build. It is truly a work of art. The way it glows at night is breath taking. I think this is one of my favorite builds of the season so far. Man needs to teach a Master Class on building with glass. Also side note the editing with the arrow to the build was very good. In terms of the leaves question maybe if you could use one of the more muted green leaves it could work but I think the all brown fits super well since it can also seem like the green leaves are covered by smoke.
My Scarland ArtBook got delivered today and it is way better than anything i could imagine, trash can designs, building blueprints, plant care graphs, tableware sets, uniform designs, there's so much here, and even a sticker sheet and a postcard from season 10... I’m from British Columbia, Canada, and forest fires are a REGULAR thing in the summer. As sad as it is in reality, it is weirdly comforting and feels representative to see your flaming tree build!

You've outdone yourself again Scar. If you wanted to put some green leaves at the bottom and transition it to the dark, burnt leaves that would create a nice conflict with the fire. But you don't have to, it looks incredible as is!
The tree is incredible, especially at night, wow!
Something that would add a lot of immersion to the tree's flames having more flames near the ground. Most forest fires burn from the ground, since that's where the majority of the easy fuel is, so it looks strange to have the fire floating halfway up the tree. Some embers traveling off in the wind would also be epic!

One detail that would enhance the immersion of the forest would be fire scars because most redwoods/sequoia’s have them.
That glasswork is genuinely insane, i don't even know how you designed it so perfectly.
The build is absolutely insane with the trees and flames, it looks like real life 😮
Maybe add a lightning rod at the top of the tree so when it storms on the server there will be in game lightning hitting the tree
i never thought that a burned tree in Minecraft can look so good!
Something that i think you could add is some mangrove roots to replace some of the leaves on the nearby trees so they get like a burnt/singed look b/c of the fire
