@@Tildagchicken Hermitcraft has many moments where the players are able to control if they want calm or chaos. Chaos is prevalent, but in the life series it's basically a slide into chaos, some series faster than others.
There is the distinct possibility thar Gem's sheep search was made more difficult by Pearl's sheep massacre. (she killed over 500 sheep during a stream)
To help with the shorelines, you could create little tidepools? Those would be cool to populate with little decorations using armor stands or mini blocks.
goya might be another good inspiration for your painter, his series of "black paintings" are all pretty grim, and were originally painted on the walls of his house and he never told anyone about them, we only found them after he died
The tipped arrow in the flower pot is such a genius detail that I've never seen before and I absolutely love it! Also I think Bart could be a good name for the mad painter as a nice little nod to Subnautica

Gem: "What the heck are you going on about?" Zed: ::takes Gem's hand:: "That coat is a pledge! A symbol that you are a friend to science!"
When it comes to Zed's game, it really helps to have space behind the pressure plates from where you're looking so you can see where you're walking when stepping on the plates. By looking backwards and having that space in front instead of behind, Gem was able to react quickly, allowing her to press the plate as the items were in the air. Zed was right, Gem is smart!
Oh I love the artist studio!!!! I am imagining he prepped his canvas, stretching it and then gessoing it then leaving it out to dry, but then when it came time to paint on it, he was stuck, and so he made another and then another!!!!!

Thank you Gemini. I’ve been having a few tough days recently and this silly little video about seamingly mundane chores, but still peaceful and calming and funny has helped me.
Geeeeemmm, you could add a tube wave with people surfing on it and getting picked up by the Monster’s tentacles around the wider area of the river (like a bit behind the fortress) !!
I'M FINALLY CAUGHT UP! New fan of under a month, finally watched all your Hermitcraft seasons so I wouldn't feel new anymore! Now I get to experience it as it comes out!
Omg I love it! How about Mary for the mad artist? Reference to the term “Mary Sue” a term used for a character (often in fan-fics) which means a character known for being perfect, but the reader finds no evidence to that. The artist used to have a lot of personality, but over time as they saw the horrors in the village and started losing hope of life ever getting better, their personality drained away with their emotions.
Thinking about the pillager painter house… and the fact that all the canvasses are empty… it really just tells the story all of us creatives face whenever we get burnt out/deal with art block/face some other issue hindering us from creating. The build isn’t supposed to be that deep, but I really felt it. The idea that it’s messy, that you are trying to create, but nothing is coming to you.
I love seeing your perspective to the shenanigans in the server. I agree with the comments naming the artist as Vincent since we've also got the ninja turtles under the cybercity
Maybe call the painter Basil after the painter in The Picture of Dorian Grey or Pickman after the painter in Pickman's Model by H.P. Lovecraft since the base is Lovecraft themed.
This has been an amazing episode. I love the creative vibe and the use of banners as painters canvases. If you have barrels or anything with items it'll be neat to have sticks in there to show the artist used to make his own painting frames.
Gem! you could do a SUPER cool thing with Skizzy with the artist thing... hear me out. First of all, Skizz has talked extensively on how his previous job was sucking the creativity out of him and making him unhappy etc. Now that he is full time, he can live out the dream (AND his Live/Create tattoo) and gets to create amazing things and content and do what he loves. I feel like he would be a great inspiration for what it would have looked like to be a 'tortured artist'. He'd also make a good bit out of it. THEN, Skizz also has the Banner's Permit.. so you *could* be his first ever banner commission and get him to create some designs to go up in the 'tortured artist's' house! Just my thoughts :)
A cool thing is that when you go to prep a canvas, you put what is essentially white paint (it's not actually. It's more of an adhesive. I just don't remember the name) and you have to let it dry. That could be what the banners are. Not all paintings require this, just some paint types.
It's a bunch of different stuff. Primer is one option, but it can also be acrylic gesso. Primer is more common on plastic though rather than canvases. I decided to go ahead and check my notes for it.
if you need to paint a bunch of the canvas, you can always look up patterns online of course, but one of my favorite mini-community events I've done in minecraft, was just gathering with all patterns available, a wide arrange of dye, and just letting everyone combine weird patterns and colors to create a bunch of art. We ended with everything from "abstract sunset" and "mountains" to a splatter mess of colors, and it was a lotta fun, and meant the base decor had a fun story tied in, so maybe hermit art challenge?
the blank banners hanging around the house can be the primer drying out, that does take time so it would make sense if they where to just hang somewhere else while the artist works on another canvas!

I like the idea of the paintings in his atelier all being blank, it gives the impression that after he went mad he could never paint again because he's seeking to create some sort of magnum opus but nothing he paints comes close to it. As for a name, I think you should call him Moretti. It feels like an appropriate name for a mad painter.

23:01 Vincent would be a classic name for the artist idk but girlie pop brushes are literally vanilla and you can use armor stands to make them dip in a cauldron dyed whatever color you want ❤️
You know what would be really cool is if instead of just making blocks bigger and smaller we could more aggressively transform them. Imagine a block of wool in the shape and size of a banner or being able to make longer planks for a reclaimed-barnwood style.
If you put that painting of a villager in as like a self portrait it helps the story of their skin being drained of color and shows what the Pillager used to look like
23:23 Pillager: Nick Nick was a great artist in need of money so he left the village for a new job opening up(the Pillager outpost stuff) where he met his first love and they quit together going on a journey to continue his artistic talent but one day his liver died and he gave up on art entirely not taking care of his room or house choosing to live in seclusion
