Perfect vehicle for baby boomers who can no longer hold up a heavy tourer. I sat in 95° heat for an hour because of an accident and all of the two wheeler goldwingers had to dismount or fall over from crablegging the big beasts 😁.

Presently on my 4th Spyder--all used sans the latest one. Even had a '13 (we don't talk of that one). Absolutely LOVE the brand (would love to be the official Can-Am spokesperson).
My credit union here in Vegas finances me for these bad boys at 10 years--crazy! So...the payment is really small. I make double payments...and you know what that does to my FICO?! Thanks to my Spyder obsession, I have a 750 FICO!
Present bike is the '21 RT Limited--$33K fully loaded. And worth every penny: killer stereo, incredible storage, heated seats and handgrips. And maintenance? Once a year, there is a laundry list of stuff that gets checked out--all for about $375.
I personally think Spyder is the best thing to ever happen to a motorcycle.

I have owned my 2012 RTL for over five years.
I'm lucky to have Spyder pop's and Lamontster within a few hours of where I live for my maintenance needs. The video is partly correct. I have had issues with mine, especially electronic. Chasing an brake error code now when there is no brake issue. Just had it all checked out.
As far as the price discussion, I think when you actually compare Spyder s to a Harley or Gold wing trike. The Spyder is on the lower end. I've seen most of the other two going for $30k and up.
I would also consider the Ryker as entry level.
All in all I would still go with a Spyder and I ride all year long.

I’m 40 young and healthy. I don’t prefer a two wheel motorcycle. Especially in Florida…. I ride pass all the other 2 wheel motorcycles in heavy rain that are stuck under an underpass waiting for the storm to pass on a high way. Multiple times safer and stable than a 2 wheel motorcycle and yes it has handle bars so it’s a motorcycle a cycle with a motor, no convincing the haters just move on…. best thing about it is that I can ride the bike naked with no bags and windshield and it becomes a sport ride and when I put the bags and windshield it becomes a cruiser. It’s best of all worlds.

U can keep the vss from coming on u have to upgrade the sway bar and shocks because the stock sway bar is too thin to keep the stability of the bike in corners..baja ron sway is way thicker so the stability is greatly improved and shocks also assist really cause the stock shocks are bad especially the rear shock it's really easy to bottom it out..elka, m2, wilber(overseas riders), king shocks are worth the money but it also depends how u ride to I have a f3 so I notice it but if u have a rt then it may depends same with the ryker as well

Never been particularly a fan of motorcycles or bikes in general, father scared me away at a pretty young age with a gruesome experience he had, but I’ve always rode ATVs and currently own a Can Am outlander and I think the spyder is a cool middle ground. Maybe once I pay off all my other vehicles I’ll get one.

  • @thesollylama130

I picked up a 2022 Sea to Sky yesterday. 38 years riding motorcycles before this.
Some negatives-- the plastic feels like trash. Hasbro toys in the 80's kind of plastic. I don't know if that is a paint job or simply blue plastic. It looks nice, but it doesn't look like paint. The wind deflectors feel like parts off a child's toy. All plastic parts have molding edges left on them.
The DCT is at best...primitive. I have a Honda CTX with a DCT (that is now in the Gold Wings) and it is amazing. In comparison the Spyder's DCT is clunky, loud, slow, and janky. It isn't even close to the Honda DCT.
Controls could be in better locations. Its awkward engaging the cruise control while maintaining throttle. I don't know why there are a dozen controls for the radio. Half the buttons on the bike are just for the radio.
The gas fill hole is the size of the pump nozzle so you cannot physically see the gas level. You must rely on the pump to stop itself like in a car. I just turn the dash on and watch the fuel gauge. I can always smell gasoline. The cap is on tight and the seat down, but I can smell gas at a stop or when I pull into my garage.
It seems to run hot under the hood. The speakers for the radio and the little glove box are both rather warm to the touch after a ride. I wouldn't actually want to put my phone in there.
The power steering is way too responsive and makes the thing feel very nervous with even slight inputs - like over rough roads- the suspension does a great job eating bumps but any tiny movement of the bars results in the machine acting instantly and rather quickly. Simply put- it doesn't 'flow' like a two wheeled machine. It takes active riding and simply isn't nearly as relaxing to drive as two wheels. It's very much like an ATV- except at much higher speeds than on a trail in the woods.
I still enjoy the heck out of it. But for almost 30 large I can see where some improvements could be made before I had 100 miles on it.

The Can Am is not a dual clutch transmission as on the Honda's. I've ridden 800,000 miles on two-wheelers and admit, the steering on the Can Am takes some getting use to, but I am getting there. I have only had the RT for a month and 1500 miles, but I am getting more relax. I agreed with the radio controls and the cruise control. Overall, I am very happy with the RT, but still have a couple 2-wheelers to ride for something different.

Wife bought a 2015 RSS Spyder with 18k while it's pretty quick Can-Am don't want you to ride it aggressively like a regular motorcycle. I believe it's overbuilt technically. Transmission can be clunky and funky you have be very careful of after market add ons like LED's and radios as it could cause issues with your computer and battery life. Engine runs at 1300-1400 RPM it's a little high but it's programmed like that prolly for the automatic downshift on the trans. Too much can go wrong with this thing so I'm not comfortable or confident over the long haul. 25k considered high mileage? no thank you I'll stick with my Honda Valkyrie.

Totally uninformed video. A well maintained Spyder is high mileage at 120k km perhaps, not 40k. I drove a 2017 until 160k km without major breakdowns, except a belt/pulleys assembly and i sold it in awsome shape. It was a daily drive. As disadvantages i would consider: takes a lot of space to park, can't filter lanes, service can be a bit pricey (not more than a BMW, Ducatti etc), on cornering it takes more effort than a bike. Pros: good fuel consumption (7l/100km), great lightining system (even if only halogen) pretty fast, stable, smooth, seating & ridding positions are awsome, good sound system, a lot of storage space, 3 cyclinder sounds awsome over 4k rpm and have a long service interval, saddles are soft and confortable, good wind protection, gearbox is nice and finally, the wow factor comparable to a Lamborghini. As you might guess, i would buy another one any day.
