WHEN this video first came out in the 80's, I thought the lead singer was a First Nations Member. blew me away when i heard he was from Europe.!!! Great Singer, great song
He’s ‘older’. I recently saw Pat Benatar, and she was still awesome, but those notes in ‘Promises in the Dark’ were lower. I’m happy these guy are still jamming. Excellent jam.
When I was a practicing alcoholic I used to really get loaded, and stoned, totally wrecked and blow the speakers out of the cabinets with this song.I am glad for those times and grateful to have survived and humbled that I never hurt or killed anybody.
I'm stealing the term "practicing alcoholic", maybe it is easier to explain to others. I'm reaching my 40s. No idea how I got past 25, but here I am. Long live THE CULT.
I wish Ian Asbury would follow the original theme of the CD songs. I mean as soon as he starts singing you know exactly who is singing he's got such an unbelievably distinctive voice. Still though, the Cult is awesome!!!!!!!
I doubt he's ever been able to sing LIVE in his studio "cd" vocal range since around 1985. I saw them numerous times in the late 80s and 90s, and he had a hoarse, winded "the doors" voice. Still cool though. It's about the vibe with these guys.
Ian may seem sarcastic, but that's just him being human. Human being it is then . Message is clear, if you're alive and breathing, then live life live! Billy Duffy from Manchester. He sounds just like the record. The band is tight. It's The Cult. I'm getting a tattoo .
i hate to say it, but i think his voice is blown? i mean i guess if youre doing a big long tour and gotta go out there for 2hrs a night for months on end, ya cant just let it rip the entire time or you wont finish the tour? so i spose hes singing within himself.
@@MrMackTKnife Not sure what you mean? I'm referring to the performance _up until_ the mic failed - up to then, it was working well enough to broadcast his tambourine, and his entire short spoken interlude on top of it, without any interruption. So, up to the failure that becomes apparent at 4:12, if his voice appears to drop out strangely and repeatedly throughout song - and at times you'd expect to hear it - it's because he's not actually singing at those times: which is part of exactly what I'm mean?
Alcohol/drugs + age + obesity + poor preparation = this. You can see the raw talent is still there, but they're quite obviously not willing to make the sacrifices to bring it back to life.
I like this band so much , but it's time to throw in the towel . It's painful to watch all these old granddads trying to stay in the zone. Sex is a young persons game , at 50 plus the game is up .
@@TheMryokogeri Oh they do , they might not be having it yet , but they have the instinct . Old men in their later 50s have no business dressing up and pretending to be sexually relevant to a young audience or any for that matter . It's like watching an old woman dressed in a mini skirt and tight top with cellulite bulging out
Nobody paid money to hear a low-energy, tambourine tapping Ian Astbury play such an epic song with such a lame performance. The crowd sounded better unfortunately.
I saw them in Phoenix with Metallica when I was 17 and was already a huge fan but I honestly don't remember anything about them opening. Then I caught them here in Minneapolis about 20 years ago and I was Pissed. Indeed drunk but also frustrated because Ian takes all of the fun of singing along by ad-libbing every single song so you can't get into a flow with any song they do. At least I know I'm not missing anything these days. I still like them but I'll never see them live again. I'm glad they still have a good live following and people enjoy them. There's too much Actual Garbage out there to hate on these guys.
@@combatgirl38 This goes all the way back to the 80's. They have NEVER been a good live band but the music is phenomenal up until 'Ceremony'...... which sucked. Even 'Dreamtime' was a great album. Hard to say that about my favorite band but that's the way it is.
Yeah, this is pretty lame. The tempo is way too slow and his voice is not as strong as it once was. He needs to just leave us with the good old performances, this is ruining it for me. It's called retirement and yes he should try it out.
At least they are still PLAYING LIVE no lyp sync no BS
Why would they lip sync?
Ian still has the voice. And he finally grew his hair long again! Awesome
Joking, right?
And this time almost not out of breath either 😂
I will always love this band.
I love how Billy rubs a little more dirt on it live! Sounds awesome.

THIS is the slow theme in my blood, for 25 years.
god bless you
what a guitarist billy duffy is ☝🏻
🌬Wow!! THEY'VE STILL
GOT IT!
Awesome Style & Sound!
💙⚘️💙
This is a rockin' tune!!!
Wish he would just sing it like the album!
I think this is a bit better than he has been. He was just mailing it in for a while.
It's an incredibly hard song to sing like studio even when he was young.
He’s ‘older’. I recently saw Pat Benatar, and she was still awesome, but those notes in ‘Promises in the Dark’ were lower. I’m happy these guy are still jamming. Excellent jam.
I don't know if Ian himself has ever been able to sing a song even close as on the albums, unfortunately.
Still as awesome as decades back.
When I was a practicing alcoholic I used to really get loaded, and stoned, totally wrecked and blow the speakers out of the cabinets with this song.I am glad for those times and grateful to have survived and humbled that I never hurt or killed anybody.

Damn they still sound great
Love these guys!
How awesome!
Lo vi en Argentina y su voz esta explotada...tararea la cancion y de cada una canta lo que puede pero no deja de ser mi banda favorita
Earth Soul Blues RocknRoll...
Hi fans, The Cult still sounds amazing, My age is 50, if the world would just have known our 80's freedom! Love you all! 💪🤟🤘❤

Adoro..
maravilhoso
So sorry I missed them in Milwaukee!!
I was there! ❤
Ya that's cool..💓💓💓🤪👍💐
Me too! So good! 😍
Dude they sound terrific. I love the looks they've all evolved into as age has taken them. They look hardcore AF now. too too cool!!!
Ian rocks!
I LOVE YOU ian
Oh dear

Billy Duffy from Manchester. He sounds just like the record.
The band is tight.
It's The Cult.
I'm getting a tattoo .
Ian having a rough nite.... This happens while on the road. Ive seen other new clips where he sounds great
my baby ian
Ian adjust that wig
Wow no nonsense powerful in the 🏜 desert groove rock band
Unreal what a killer performance they are nailing it
Nailing what? This is vastly different from the studio version.
Chief smokestack lightning
that guy on keys is NO JIM MORRISON
Show....
Tragic.

🙏☮️🌹❤️🌈
wig or what
It's a little sad to hear him do his best to avoid singing too much of his own song.... That voice is on the ropes and getting beat.
Went to their show in Phoenix, AZ last month, amazing show,! Sounds better live, too.
Some nights your voice just gives out when you're on the road!
He thought his mike was out and switched mikes to an inactive mike. His voice did not give out. He grabbed the wrong mike.

Whats with the wig
Damn, where did this happen?!
It’s in the title.

ian YOU WERE THE JIM MORRISON
Great band, but Ian needs to check himself before he wrecks himself!
Yeah it just doesn't even sound close , the guy singing sounds like karaoke.

funny how some say exactly the opposite of what others say lol
@@maniaque37 Yes, I say the Earth is round. Are you a flat Earther?
Welp, that's a wig.
I'm sure That's his real hair !!👍 The Cult 🎶🎶🎸🎤❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nossa, o Ian Astbury era tão lindo nós anos 80 e 90 hj tá acabado tadinho , quase idoso
Isso não é só a idade, é muita droga também!
better on the album
Milwaukee doesn't deserve the cult
that doesnt look like Ian and I think thats a wig.
Disappointing, time to let it go. A shell of the their former self.
