Absolutely agree. Not a single bad song on this banger of a record. They really got everything exactly right for this one. Was so disappointed with the follow up album 'Ceremony'. Had a few good tracks, but just didn't live up to their ability.
This entire album is amazing. Between Sun King, Fire Woman, Edie, Sweet Soul Sister and my personal favorite New York City! Just a classic album. It should be a crime to overlook Billy Duffy as a guitarist. So underrated.
One of rock’s most classic bands and yet still pretty underrated. Think you guys would love Peace Dog, great riffs and very groovy. Rain and Nirvana also awesome.
From the musicianship, writing, vocals, and production, the song makes me just want to move to this day. Great driving song (literally AND figuratively)!
this song reminds me of my teen years; listening to this while my dad taught me to drive. up and down the same backroads for hours while i learned how to shift the gears and take the turns. good song, even better memories.
It's The Cult. Nothing at all to hate. The best bog-standard, badass, listenable rock band out there. I love everything they have put out solely for the fact that it is just so damn easy to listen to and groove to.
So glad you got around to the cult!!! The whole album "sonic temple" bands just like that song - sun king, edie, American horse, sweet soul sister... The entire album!
Edie (Ciao Baby) Love Removal Machine Painted on my Heart I missed these guys in '89, finally got to see them 25 years later and they were on point. Great concert!
Man, this was a fun one. Been obsessed with this song ever since I first heard it like 15 years ago. None of my friends get why I like it so much, so it was very gratifying to see you guys jam out to it.
Saw the Cult last June and they still sound unbelievable. This is a great band to run through their catalog of songs. Top 5 favorite bands of all time.
Great band. Many of my friends went to see them in a small club in the 80's. They were all raving about the opening band as well as how good The Cult were. Turned out the opening act went on the be pretty big name band too, Guns and Roses.
I would say they're very highly regarded and hugely influential. they just don't get credit deserved . They came out at the height of hair metal and opened the door for 90's Grunge along with Faith No More Living Colour, Kings X etc. All whom also don't get credit deserved BTW a few bangers? This whole album is bangers! Not a bad track on It.

'Sonic Temple' is one of the tops 5 Rock albums of all time. Their prior album 'Electric' is a classic as well. If you like 'Fire Woman' then you get more of the same on 'Sonic Temple'. 'Love Removal Machine' was their previous hit song from 'Electric', but I like the songs 'Wildflower' and 'Lil' Devil' as near perfect rock songs for their simple compositions.
Next to G'N'R and AC/DC, the Cult is my third favorite band all time. They have a very strong drum beat with some very nice lead guitar intricacies. Ian Astbury's vocals help bring it all together.
I saw Ian Asturbury with the Doors filling the very big shoes of Jim Morrison and he knocked it out of the park! Majority had no idea who he was and killed it.
Knowing what you guys like not just on the music front but also on the good frontman side, and how you guys really like David Lee Roth's swagger, your next The Cult song should be "Sun King." It's the same upbeat tempo as Fire Woman but the swagginess is taken up a level.
So glad you got to The Cult. I wore out my cassette tape of their album Electric. So many good jams on Electric, especially Love Removal Machine and Lil' Devil. Check out either one, both are great. Electric was and is still my favorite of their albums. A combination of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and The Doors that ROCKS. You can't go wrong with their albums Love, Electric and Sonic Temple.
That's a classic. MTV used to use that as a lead in to their most popular program. I saw the Cult open for Metallica on the Justice tour. Bad ass show. Glad you enjoyed this. Great tune.
Jesus Christ. What do we have to do to get some channel, ANY channel to react to the “Electric” album?! Literally every single song start to finish is playlist fire. Why doesn’t anyone know this?? Preach brother. Easily too 10 album in my collection. I’ve been begging reactors to check this group out, but wtf do I know? Aphrodisiac Jacket is probably most underrated on this album
Honestly, The Cult was kinda outta my wheelhouse back in the day....I was a bit closed minded to it probably because of some false sense of elitism. Basically, forced to listen to it by big sis and was the better for it. Electric is a masterpiece and was transcendent and enlightening for me.
It's tough to call a platinum album produced by Rick Rubin a sleeper, but whatever. It's a great record. I saw them twice on the Electric tour and they were magic. Young, hungry, full of swagger...absolutely blew Billy Idol off the stage. The played it (mostly) in its entirety on their 2013 tour and it was still fresh. They're still a great live band.
I was 14 when this came out and I immediately fell in love with Ian and his hair. Went out and bought Sonic Temple. My friends and I would rock out to it in my room. Last saw them in 2016 when they came to NZ. Still great, they coming back later this year. Will try and be there.
I really think other than the obvious fantastic vocals, it's the drums that make this song. They push on the verse and chorus and force you to nod and move. They drag on the break and lull you down just get you ready to be pumped back up. Classic song.
I’ve been a subscriber for a few years. I have to tell you, George’s head banging is now in top form. Ryan you always seemed to be a rock guy. Thanks for all the time you’ve put into your channel.
I really hope you guys do some of the famous songs off of The Cult, Electric album. There's a fascinating story behind that album. The Cult had been doing almost Goth music. They wanted to do a rock album. They attempted to record it, and it was a mess. They released that in a compilation set. I heard the first attempt at the album. It is a mess. They came to the US and somehow I think in NY talked with Rick Ruben. I don't know if it's true but I remember that i heard that they told him they wanted to rock, and he gave Billy Duffy (guitar) Marshal (Rock) amps, and said something about, "well stop being English pretty boys." They recorded two songs with Rubin, called their record company and told them they were going to re-record the entire album with Rubin. The record company was upset, and sent a few people who heard the songs, and told them to totally go for it with Rubin. Most of the songs are great on Electric, which was a breakthrough album for the Cult. But some of the songs that were most popular were, Wild Flower, Lil' Devil, and Love Removal Machine.
I think the Electric album is perhaps the best rock album of all time. Every song is a winner...just perfection! My personal favorite is Peace Dog! Cheers!
Heard them first at a Metallic Concert that they opened for them. Was absolutely blown away by them then and still absolutely love them now. Absolutely gotta do She Sells Sanctuary and Sun King
Probably one of the best hard rock songs ever...I don't think I can ever get sick of it, and I've heard it for 30+ years at this point...just absolutely perfect for what it is.
The Cult have some great songs like sweet soul sister, wild hearted son, son king, lil devil, soul asylum, new york city, medicine train ..so many good songs from this band
Dunno if yall were watchin the official video on the sly, but if not, it's definitely a must see! Ian is an extremely charismatic frontman and it adds an extra punch to the songs when you see him perform. ✌😎
I saw this band on the 4th of July 1988 when they opened for Metallica in Pine Knob, MI. The Metallica fans weren't having them but they had a very dedicated circle of fans down front. They put on a good show and eventually won over some fans that day. I bought their CD and it was a very good album.
I saw them not too long ago live. I couldn’t believe there wasn’t but maybe 200 people in attendance. The performance was awesome and I remember the days they would sell out stadiums in the 90s.
Good to see you covering the Cult. I am a long-term fan from way back, when they were Southern Death Cult, right up until the present day. There is a lot of good material from them. Be good to see you cover some of the early stuff like Spirit walker and Horse Nation.
I love The Cult. Rain might be my favorite track, but they have so many great ones. Fire Woman is the inspiration for my main character's name in my book series (Graveslinger, more books to come), because I made her dad a fan lol. Her name is Fiya because that's how he hears "Fire" when Ian's singing it. Wild Hearted Son is another banger.

Great reaction, fellas! That whole album is solid! The lead singer (Ian Thornley) for Big Wreck has been labeled the "Chris Cornell of Canada" ... he sounds very similar. Peace!
His voice his charisma and his movements on stage, just gets you going. Been following these guys from the moment, they hit the shores of the United States in the early '80s.
They put out 2 of the greatest rock albums of all time. ELEKTRIK and SONIC TEMPLE. Rick Rubin produced the first one and Bob Rock the latter. The Cult is a very influential band.
I saw them I'm 98 at The House of Blues in Hollywood! Amazing live and the loudest concert I've ever been to. Couldn't hear a damn thing except for the ringing in my ears! Any song on their greatest hits album would be great to react to. Love me some Cult!🤟
This never leaves my playlist…this and She Sells Sanctuary! The cult is Jews ily underrated. Their ballad they played on the Gone in 60 Seconds is a fuckin banger too!
The Cult is one of my favourite bands and I've been listening to the album Sonic Temple since the 90's! Billy Duffy on the guitar is GREAT! I love his sound. And Ian Astbury is an amazing frontman with an great voice.Their recent albums are brilliant too. So glad you like this!
You guys would LOVE "Love Removal Machine" That song has all the stuff you guys like as far as rock songs go including a KILLER solo. Do that one next for sure!!!

Another very good song from them that doesn't get play as it should is Wildflower.
The CULT are the last GREAT ROCK & ROLL Band. Fire Woman is undeniable… that shit goes hard no matter WHO You Are
“She sells sanctuary” is a BANGER…..you gotta do it, you won’t be disappointed.
40 year old song that sounds like it was written yesterday.
I was hoping somebody else would mention that gem. 😃 I, too, am for a "She Sells Sanctuary" vid.
Best road trip song ever made.
The Cult is one of the most underrated bands of all time. So many good times on long road trips with The Cult as the soundtrack. You're gonna enjoy the trip through their musical catalogue.
one of THE BEST road trip artists ever. I did one with just the Rare Cult box set, phenomenal.
Underrated underrated underrated underrated underrated underrated underrated underrated
Wife and I rocked out with you. Do "She Sells Sanctuary" next!
Amazing song, GTA Vice City soundtrack
One of my fave songs ever! Great call!
Wildflower
Yeah. She Sells Sanctuary is such a different sound from them, but it's still a great song.
YAAAAAAAAAASSSSS
The Cult is one of the most underrated bands of the 80’s. “Sonic Temple” has to be one of the top ten albums from the 80’s
Absolutely agree. Not a single bad song on this banger of a record. They really got everything exactly right for this one. Was so disappointed with the follow up album 'Ceremony'. Had a few good tracks, but just didn't live up to their ability.
Billy Duffy is underrated as a guitarist.
"Phoenix" is an apex-example of face melting guitar! Duffy is a genuine guitar-god!
And the song "Love"
He's a goddamn hero. Wonderful stuff!
it is a popular YT thing to say 'underrated' to any band/musician to give yourself a look of 'knowledge'. How poor.
He's ok
This entire album is amazing. Between Sun King, Fire Woman, Edie, Sweet Soul Sister and my personal favorite New York City! Just a classic album. It should be a crime to overlook Billy Duffy as a guitarist. So underrated.
All songs you listed are my favorites from that album as well. "New York City" just rocks!
Ian Ashbury is completely unique, even iconic, Not sure this band got the respect they deserved. She Sells Sanctuary is forever on my playlist.
That was a beautiful thing when his voice came in and you BOTH started giving the stink face
“She sells sanctuary” and “love removal machine” are great songs!
Awesome to listen you guys reacting to my favorite band ever!
The Cult were legit rockers. Much like ACDC you knew what they were going to do and you knew you'd like it.
One of rock’s most classic bands and yet still pretty underrated. Think you guys would love Peace Dog, great riffs and very groovy. Rain and Nirvana also awesome.
YES!!! !!! PEACE DOG !!!
Rain is great too, GTA V soundtrack
this song is hugely underrated as well.
The Phoenix is badass
I mean.. they're not "one of rock's most classic bands" at all lol
From the musicianship, writing, vocals, and production, the song makes me just want to move to this day. Great driving song (literally AND figuratively)!
This song is responsible for more speeding tickets than I can count.
Relatable
God, that is the truth! I'll be rockin' along and the speedometer is ... well, too fast and I never knew it!
Same....
True story. I got my first while this was in the radio.
Sammy Hagar's "I can't drive 55" says hi lol
this song reminds me of my teen years; listening to this while my dad taught me to drive. up and down the same backroads for hours while i learned how to shift the gears and take the turns.
good song, even better memories.
Dare I say... Classic. It's one of those songs that crosses generations and genres. Respect, The Cult. They have a handful of bangers.
It's The Cult. Nothing at all to hate. The best bog-standard, badass, listenable rock band out there. I love everything they have put out solely for the fact that it is just so damn easy to listen to and groove to.
I love that you love them! 😂❤ She Sells Sanctuary is a must by The Cult, Jack Sparrow stole Ian Astburys wardrobe 😅

So glad you got around to the cult!!! The whole album "sonic temple" bands just like that song - sun king, edie, American horse, sweet soul sister... The entire album!
There isn't a bad song on this LP.

Ciao, Edie is beautiful
Ian Astbury has a killer voice. Even more so on She Sells Sanctuary, The Witch and Love Removal Machine.
Edie (Ciao Baby)
Love Removal Machine
Painted on my Heart
I missed these guys in '89, finally got to see them 25 years later and they were on point. Great concert!
The guitarist, Billy Duffy, does not get the love he absolutely should!!!
I love Billy he can play that guitar❤
I love the way Ian hunches the stage❤
This has been on my playlist for the last 30 years. Ian Astbury is very under rated and his stage presence was just as energetic.
Nothing makes my day like seeing these two rocking out to a track I love.

Yep! Lead singer did it! Ladies loved this dude back in the day! 😆
One of the best concerts i ever went to was The Cult opening for Billy Idol. The were equally amazing!! Ahhhh the 80's
Saw that tour in Seattle ...it was absolutely amazing!
The Cult is definitly well respected and loved by a lot of metal heads ;)
The surviving members of the Doors took Ian Astbury out on tour a few years back. He has that Morrison quality and charisma.
I saw it live and he knocked it out of the park.
Damn, that's who I was thinking he reminded me of.He does have kind of the Morrison charisma and sound.
@@TexasFury He was perfect.

I absolutely thought of Jim Morrison when I originally heard this song way back in the day. Fantastic reaction guys!!
Ian REALLY got his shit together and sang his balls off on that tour. It was such a positive thing to experience as a Cult fan and a Doors fan.
Cult is legendary! I heard about them through a few soundtracks. Much respect
Finally! One of the greatest voices in rock history. Try Wild Hearted Son next!
Wild Hearted Son is waaaaaay too overlooked when talking about The Cult.

I love seeing young people listening to old songs and enjoying their selves bobbing their heads
I always thought Maynard’s voice reminded me of the lead vocalist of The Cult. I would recommend reacting to Edie (Ciao Baby) and She Sells Sanctuary
Lead singer Ian Astbury who was schooled in Scotland is a massive Doors fan and nearly got the film gig as Jim Morrison but was beaten by Val Kilmer

They made a little comeback in the early 2000"s with a cool song called Rise. I suggest it.
I strongly recommend Rise. Even if they don't react to it, I highly recommend anyone reading this to check that out. That's just a pure rock song.
Rise and The Saint are both great off that one.
That whole album is incredible
@@Moveplaylift I actually had a hard time getting into the rest of it. Perhaps I should revisit it.
All these years later, check out Vendetta X off the new album "Under The Midnight Sun". Whole album is waaaaay beyond so much music out now or ever
Ian the lead singer is a hell of a dancer, he's mesmerizing.
I grew up with The Cult. Saw them live several times. They are 🔥
The Cult is super underrated in my opinion. She sells sanctuary is fire!!
Fire Woman is a good start to discover The Cult, and if you guys like it, then you've got yourselves a gold mine of great songs \m/
Very underrated band.
The Cult were/are great. They never got the respect they deserved.
His voice his charisma and his movements on stage, just gets you going.
Been following these guys from the moment, they hit the shores of the United States in the early '80s.
I've been listening to this song on repeat for the last couple of days - glad you guys get as juiced to this song as much as me.
Who is "jews ily?"
@@neillenet291 hahaha oops. Probably should have proof read that. Was supposed to say “really underrated”.
@@RogueElement 😀
@@RogueElementYou know you can always edit your own comment...right?
@@bobthebear1246 what’s the fun in that? Hahaha
