Sorry but this was just a long commercial for the GSA. You mention the toggle switch several times but not that it can handle only 1 function at time so you have to go into menues to do other common things. Also no mention of the Pannier debacle. Nearly a year after launch and recall, they are still not available and no 3rd party luggage options. Finally, the base price mentioned is a unicorn bike, BMW does not make it. I spec'ed a US based bike with the options mentioned and it priced out at over $32k, so a bit over the $18k base.
Mine spec'ed for just under 30K in California. Triple black fully loaded with ride height adj and ASA I opted out of the double Akra can. OTD will be near 33K. This will be my 3rd GS...
The rocker button has primary and secondary functions that you can program with the burger button, you just keep pressing the wheel to assign the secondary function. A bike can have just so many buttons before turning into a space ship :) Also for the luggage, you are talking about the GS not the GSA since there isn't 1 year since the launch. I don't know what are you talking about, but in Europe there are multiple 3rd party luggage options. About the price, never moan about the price. You either afford it or not. There are WAY more expensive bikes than this...
@@cmpmendes Shad is the manufacturer of the BMW OEM cases that were recalled with still no solution. Note, the recall was because the bags may open by themselves while under way.
Coming off a 1200GSA for the last 10 years, I tried one other day, typical BMW ride and feel, faultless. Its a really nice bike, but it just didn't grab me at all. I instead got a good deal on a brand new 1250GSA. Maybe I'll give it another look in a few years. I didn't get that auto ride height thing going which made it feel really tall, I was properly on my tippy-tip-toes, I'm 5'7"(170cm).
Thank you for the nice summary, I appreciate the intelligent delivery and the lack of over-the-top theatrics. I’ve owned this motorcycle in full equipment for three days now, and I agree with everything you said.👍
I don’t think they will sell many of them. Seems very focused machine. If you’re not doing lots of touring I’m sure how many rich people wants to wrestle with this one 😅 Personally would go for MG Stelvio as lighter and so much cheaper
I couldn't find a way so I'll settle for one day to believe in you. Tell me, tell me, tell me lies. Tell me lies Tell me sweet little lies. Love this Song.
Great video. I’ve got three concerns: plastic shift lever; change in function panel/buttons has reduced usability, the ACC or radar or whatever kicks in when you’re passing cars and should be permanently turned off.
For me, it’s the plastic brake and shift levers. The Austrian YT channel “1000 PS” has a video where this amazing machinery slowly tipped over, severing the plastic shift lever and leaving the rider stranded in the middle of nowhere with no recourse. Great bike. Great review.
I don't know how to put A picture on here , but we have a gs650 twin which we've got twin tanks on. front tank looks bigger than that front tank and obviously the tank under the seat as well . I went from Lincoln to the South west coast of Wales for a wedding and got back to Lincoln on one tank. Well two tanks hadn't hit reserve yet. The best I've got is 540 MIles without refilling
Catch 22: review the bike fairly and never receive a press bike again OR review the bike favourably and get viewers upset at your bias. Tough place to be in, but you should really be mentioning the recall issues and not pretend this is an affordable bike
Likely a great street bike, please do a video of picking it up yourself from a fall since taking this monster off road, you will fall off. Is it top heavy, just really heavy or is obscenely heavy. Load that bike up with another 80KG well good luck. Sales show, sorry.
@@motolover5697 Hahaha... might do very soon but not the GSA.... I do own a 6 month old BMW car and it's a bit hit and miss to be honest and I've not found the customer service to be great.... so at the moment unsure.
Could be done but obviously you'll get stuck from time to time filtering, where other bikes would fit through. Also would only do it with secure parking, unless you get ASA so it can't be pushed away!
@motobob Thanks, yeah I can accept not always being able to filter. Will be moving to the sticks 20 miles outside of London so need something robust for carrying my wife and I over fast windy country roads in all weather and then the last 10 miles through to central London. I'm 100% getting the asa version if I go ahead. Really want to start touring too.
Unless you have somewhere secure to park it and chain it, I wouldn’t bother venturing into London as it will disappear very quickly. Trust me, I speak from experience.😮
I don’t want one but I have to this made me hate it less. I know they are probably great at everything my issue is BMW lacks a soul when you ride them in general except the R18 that nobody wants
Saw one in the flesh today at Motorcycle Live. The stand was busy and it'll probably sell in big numbers but in my opinion in its massive, ugly and overpriced.
Welcome to RUclips, that's what these reviewers do. It's up to you to wade through the marketing blurb and make your own mind up. PS, the video does say '9 best features' so you were warned.
Have Bavarians created this look after two weeks of non stop celebrating the October fast? I just can't stop laughing when I see this insanely expensive box.
How come motorcycle journalists so often says things like "It costs X thousand euros/pounds/crowns which means most bikers cannot afford one". I mean BMW and other large manufacturers spits out new bikes in the +20 000 Euro price level. I may be delusional, but at least in the area I mostly ride in brand new premium large capacity bikes are certainly no rarity.
The actual numbers show your anecdote is simply not the general experience. The vast majority do not spend or cannot buy modern bikes brand new. The average age of motorcycles in the road continues to get older and less young people are riding than ever before.
I agree with @Enviouslordshaxx, most people who buy these bikes get a PCP. Young riders will never get the insurance or the money to buy them. Another factor is that they can get in a car at 17, 21 for A2 license
@@petewatson9866 Well, I do not see how it is relevant if the buyer is 28 or 58. BMW and others still sells heaps of premium bikes. Financed money or not. Just because you finance a bike does not mean you cannot afford one. Of course economic conditions vary from country to country, but if you are 30 with a stable job and somehow cannot afford to buy 20 000 Euro motorcycle one should probable consider doing something about ones economic situation. Me too. I ordered the single can and will put a single Akra can on the triple black in black!
Fitting you filmed this in amongst a bunch of cars since the bike costs and weighs about the same as a car.
