Hi Scheib!!😀😀 Nice wood there brother!! Be careful man that you don't strain your milk. It's no fun when you over lift and wreck your back. I speak from experience. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al
I think about this all of the time but it is hard to identify who owns the wood line along the roads in Maryland. Sometimes it is state other times it is private. I back up to state parkland and there are so many down trees. I would love to reach out to someone to see if they issue permits for felled trees.
Your not alone I pass by all kinds of wood thought of cutting it now I am no worry I live in Maine. I'm 74 still do my own wood but I use a tractor can't lift those heavy ones now I use my tractor I have a small wood lot but sure could use the wood . That 500 eats that red oak like it was pine. Just to drop you a line to say you must love it ad munch ad I do keep on bucking.
I’ll have to file a complaint!! As the day after Christmas, you were in a T-shirt. Here, (SK) it was 15 below F & we got 5” of snow!!🤣☃️🤪 Not to worry, the weather has much improved here. Hope it’s not to bad in your area. Pretty big, nice looking rounds. A good video as usual.
Glad it was you picking up those rounds. My back started hurting just watching. the wood looks great and i also love the smell of fresh split red oak, reminds me of my childhood.
I am like you buddy on picking the nice straight trunks first and saying no to branches and real knotty pieces!! Had a dude tell me he had firewood/tree I could have!! I said how big is the trunk!! He said I sold that to a mill!! I said no thanks, you sold what I want most, haha!!
OMG is that a lot of Oak, That would last me awhile in my fireplace. Take your tall gate off, then put a Big round behind your truck. Load one onto the big round and then up into your truck. Helps with the back Don. Chris in the woodyard said to watch your back truck window. 🤣Great Job, strong like Bull. Don, what time is your live stream Sunday ? Thanks
And that's why they call him Sir. Crazy heavy wood 🪵 great smelling red oak. And yes free is good 👍 When I was younger and had to cut wood for the old octopus 🐙 furnace and we wood load the coal cellar with that red oak my mother would complain about the smell and my dad would tell her it's either freeze or put up with the smell for awhile. Great video scheib!
“Time for a beverage” 😂 I would say so! Man I think you are realizing that the dually is to good of a wood hauler to get rid of! I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have wanted to back the new Silverado in there.😳 Stay safe brother👍🏻👍🏻
Scheib your killing man!! that's some nice looking wood. I bet it splits and stacks beautifully. your operation is nice to. the yard, your saws, trucks, everything is looks to be well cared for. keep it up dude
Good stuff as always brother💪🏼 Dead Lift😳 Back in my so-called prime, I was known to do the impossible... All I’ll say is keep it straight, no twisting😎 I’m glad the baton has been passed! I’m utilizing machinery nowadays, I figure I’m fortunate to have made it to my age without any surgical augmentations😉 Bless’ns, always a pleasure!
Another good day. Consider picking up a ramp (like you would use to load a garden tractor) so you don’t have to lift that big stuff by yourself. I speak from experience: your life will be forever changed if you hurt your lower back. Have a beverage! 👍
Dang Scheib, that looked like a lot of work. I try to keep an axe or maul all 5he time. Oak will usually bust apart with a few hits. That's some nice oak rounds you got. 👍👍🍻🍻
Messed my back up a few months ago lifting rounds into my truck. I been thinking about a ramp to roll them up or maybe one of those harbor freight pickup cranes. Doing this kinda work, ya sure don't need to go to the gym. Thanks for the videos
Hey brother! Great video! Like I said on a previous comment I’m just getting into the whole wood splitting community but look into getting a Gorillabac 3803 Wood Log Splitter/Pickup Truck Log Lift Crane for those bigger rounds! Did some research and think it could be a game changer for you! Save time and energy! I can’t wait till I am able to get mine!
I really enjoy your roadside logging videos. The wood is out there for those willing to look and work for it. Your thoughts on a Harbor Freight pickup truck bed crane. I saw a video where a guy modified one with a 12 volt winch to lift up those huge rounds into a trailer. My back wouldn’t tolerate those lifts.
The video I watched the guy used a set of log tongs at the end with a remote controller for the winch. He’d pick up a round and then swing it over into the trailer and lower it down. No effort at all. Keep the great videos coming, there’s a whole lot of firewood hounds who really enjoy them.
Holy frick Scheib. You're a beast. I dont know if it would be quicker, but those straight grained oak rounds sometimes split in half easily with a maul.
First off, if ever I'm caught in a dark alley at night, I hope your by my side! - beast mode putting those rounds in the truck. (FWIW: carry a 2x10x8 in your truck & use as a ramp. Or carry a 10# sledge, steel splitting wedge, & maul to split into manageable pieces.) Those rounds are going to be so much fun to split - awesome score!
The more beautiful wood there Scheib, you have to work your butt off for it but it's worth it in the end because it's free. I was thinking if you could have backed your truck up that hill a ways your tailgate would have been a way closer to the ground, just my thought for the day. Thanks for the video my friend, -40 in Northern Alberta this morning
Yeah, if it weren't for that busy road, I'd have been tempted to back up to that embankment for just that reason. With luck, I could roll those suckers in!
Question,, why does a lot of people leave the bark on their split wood , I've found that it allows the outside to become punky and bugs love it over 2 years of drying, I remove it and it gives me alot for my patio firepit
Everything burns if it falls off while stacking or unstacking for use it goes on a pile for disposal or soon to be outside fires. I find that when it’s stacked it tends to not get punky but when it’s dead standing for a good while that’s when it gets punky. Bugs burn too lol 🤘🏻🤘🏻🍺🍺
If you're going to keep picking up roadside wood, I'd suggest an aluminum cargo ramp. Possibly a winch mounted in the bed up front to pull those logs up the ramp.
Save your Doctor money. I have seen on You Tube a lift that goes into a 2 inch receiver with a 1500 lb Harbor freight hoist. That is on my build list after my wrapper.
There’s a lot of nice heat in those dense “double barrel” crotch sections but I get why you leave them behind. If I was in the firewood business I wouldn’t struggle with those either.
Saw looked sharp what sharpening method do you use? Nice score on red oak plus no brush or mess to clean up 👍. I like the smell just part of the firewood disease I enjoy everything about it. Full time hobby for me in retirement 👍
You need a ramp then you can roll the big ones on up instead of cutting them in half. I don't have a truck I have a SUV and a 5x8 utility trailer the gate comes in hand to roll the big ones on I also use a dolly at times less trips back and forth.
you made my back hurt just watching brother I'm fabricating something to do the lifting like that I'll be sure to contact you when I'm done with it. might even just send you one.have a wonderful weekend.
@@OutsidewithScheib waiting for the hydro pump a some other things to come in and then pick up the steel and git to building it.(drop Hitch mount) say,ing nothing more till it done.hehehehe been a one year thing soon will be reality.maybe might even market it.have a wonderful weekend sir. your write I should be putting videos out because of the splitter I use for my bundle company not really seen personal owner videos out with it.
Man that was satisfying watching that big oak getting bucked up. Do you reckon that tree was hundreds of years old? Did ye get a hurricane or storm recently? Well done on all that hard work!. 👏
Personally, I'd have gone after that top, first. LOTS of good wood there- that I can actually pick up to put in the truck without worrying about one of my nuts rolling down my pant leg... Easier to handle come splitting time, too! You really should look into a ramp of some sort, before you blow your back out. We'd rather not watch INSIDE with Sheib, with you filming from traction, lol. That's a hell of a haul you got there! Lots of dead and down trees in my parts- Enough to heat the entire county for years- and that's just the Ash. Just about all of it is on private land, though.
How did you grow your firewood buissness and how did you reach more people to be potential customers. How are you able to cut firewood on the side of the road do you need a permit or anything
My business/ side hustle started out out of the blue. One day I decided to build a roadside stand and put an ad on Facebook and it just went from there. I didn’t know how it was going to go. The stand cost me 24 bucks so I wasn’t out much. The wood along the road is on state land not sure if you need a permit or not I probably should look into it.
@@OutsidewithScheib i know in indiana you need a permit and permission plus you can only take 4 rick per year per permit and it has to be renewed each year after 3 rick and you need permission again every year.
I was hoping you would send the duslly duke's of Hazzard style. But you did it Safely! You should carry a 2 x 12 x 8'. I roll my big rounds you to the truck bed. Im not beast mode likr you Scheib. I admire your strength and ability to get those rounds up there. How did you feel the next day? Has anyone ever taking anything that you bucked up roadside logging. One thing noce with Road side logging is that you can leave what you do not want. Nice score Scheib. That calls for at least 2 miller lights!
Hi Scheib Watching This on The Replay Nice Oak Ya I like the Smell of it and it Burns Hot and For a long time 👍
wow that's a beauty!! some really nice wood there!
Hi Scheib!!😀😀
Nice wood there brother!!
Be careful man that you don't strain your milk. It's no fun when you over lift and wreck your back. I speak from experience.
Take care my friend!!😀😀

Great score on the wood. Its amazing how much wood rots on the side of the road cause no one will take time to clean it up. Have a Safe Day

Nice, I love free wood. Those big rounds r crazy heavy. I think you need @least 6 beverages.
Schieb ,good score on the oak .if you have a ten foot 2x8 use that as a ramp save the back.take care the SR.
You weren’t kidding! That’s a lot of wood in that tree!

Scheib your a beast ! Great video to show how much work goes into one truck load of firewood .

Thanks
You out there stealing wood again lol 😆 jk that was a really nice score and that 500 us cutting great
Another great find with the red oak. To save some time with the noodling, I only cut less than halfway, and bust them easily with a maul.

What model chainsaw are you using and what size bar? It rips pretty good on hard oak
Free wood is the best wood! WHOOOOO
Good jop on your wood today i put your tried today lot off work you did i like your new video today love your video budfy 🍺🍺
That saw is a beast
Great video too 👍 I wish I was young 😛

you ever try a pulp hook!! they work great handling the bigguns!
Now that's what I'm used to cutting, good ole heavy a$$ oak

Yes red oak and 25 inch bar
