    I wouldn’t pay a penny over retail for any Rolex. If I can’t get it for a reasonable price (retail), I don’t need it. That Daytona isn’t worth anything even close to what it is selling for second hand. Total hype. For that kind of money, I’d be getting into high horology, not Rolex.

    • @Mega-zi7ys
      @Mega-zi7ys 2 года назад

      Correct!. Rolex is not haute horologie yet rabid are desperate in trying to mention PP, ALS and VC in the same breath as Rolex.
      But i guess it's also bec many of the so called watch experts appearing on RUclips are themselves flippers and gray dealers...so there you go, a grand Ponzi scheme in the works.. whoever is Left holding the bag is the sucker.

    Beautiful solid collection , and congratulations on the stunning Daytona . I have watched your Chanel for some time now and seriously doubt this will be your last purchase . This crazy hobby is almost an addiction and I think we are all similar in we are all chasing the next piece , maybe at different price points but it’s never the last piece .good Luck with your temporary retirement James 😂

    Wowzers! Congratulations on the Daytona James! Wear it in good health. I doubt that you’ll be able to stay in watch buying retirement, but it’s worth a try I guess.You certainly swung back an forth from Omega to Rolex then back Omega, then back to Rolex again. As long as your happy, that’s the most important thing. Enjoy your fantastic collection my friend.

    Lovely collection especially if it makes you happy. Was great 20 years ago buying Rolex without the games now totally frustrated with the brand. Will stick with Omega where I find buying for love rather than investment even more enjoyable. Good luck with your retirement.

    I tend to agree with your take in not playing the AD 'kiss ass' and buying up useless jeweries and worthless watches just to be able to buy some Rolex at retail prices. I used the same technique some 3 years ago and gotten all my pieces brand new from grey dealers and paid not too much over retail. However, prices now at reseller is way over and beyond craziness especially those hot models.

    It depends on your AD . I have a relationship with a large Rolex boutique run by watches of Switzerland who have been fantastic. Only started using this particular dealer in September. They got me a a new op in four weeks a new sub 41 in three weeks and have been told i will definitely get a Pepsi within months .They have also offered a few other pieces that I declined ..When registering with them they listed the watches I owned and knew I was a collector with a decent collection but that’s it no carrot and stick nonsense just a great service .. I’m still registered with a smaller AD but get offered nothing . They just don’t get anywhere close to the volume of watches that the stand alone Rolex boutiques receive..

    Great video and congrats on the Panda and the collection! However, Marco said it perfectly... You're a nateorious flipper and I'm not sure why you always bang on about retiring, being an Omega fanboy, blah, blah, blah... When it's clear your a Rolex fanboy and you'll be flipping before you know it for some reason or another!

    I can imagine it must be a real kick in the teeth to have an AD tell a customer that they will no longer supply him steel professional range watches, because they've noticed him re-selling one of these references within months of buying. But I can actually see where they're coming from in taking this hard line. I know there is the argument of 'it's my property, why shouldn't I do what the hell I like with it?' But when you consider the sheer numbers of people clamouring to buy these watches, it does seem kind of unfair that someone would buy it at retail, then just turn a profit on it a mere 6 months later. In a way this could be construed as taking the watch away from someone who would, potentially, keep it forever, hand it down to their son or nephew, or whatever...
    The demand is real - even if it is based on crazed hype. I was actually in my AD the first day they re-opened after lockdown (ironically enough to send the BLNR they sold me last December back under warranty because the rehaut was slightly out of alignment at 12-o-clock.) While I was waiting, I overheard them telling another guy that the waiting list for the same watch was 10 years! So I asked them whether this was true, and they said it would now be a three year wait even for a VIP client, and that the waiting list for steel GMTs was basically closed...
    (For the record: I hadn't waited anything like that long. I wasn't even formally on a waiting list. Some time ago, I had just mentioned in conversation when I was buying a Patek that I liked the "Batman" bezel on the Rolex GMT. Then about a year later a phone call came from nowhere saying they had one, and it was mine if I wanted it.)

    Ads are the ones who flip the watches!!
    They keep the hot models in the back for either big customers or gray market dealers

    • @Mega-zi7ys
      @Mega-zi7ys 2 года назад

      Yup . otherwise how else you explain some gray dealers holding many BNIB examples of each supposedly impossible to get models from AD's ..

    👍’s for all your great content and contribution to other channels James. I get your point of view after the fall out with your Rolex AD but I have just picked up my 9th ‘hard to get’ steel sports at retail from 6 different 🇬🇧 AD’s in the last 3 years without spending a penny on anything else from them (and was never asked to). I used the ‘shotgun’ approach contacting virtually every AD in the UK. I was politely declined by most but thought I had a chance with about 10 that I recontacted periodically and played the long game. After being offered nothing for the 1st 18 months (and have still been offered nothing from my local AD) the time and effort started to pay off.

    How do grey market dealers get brand new Rolex watches if the ADs don't sell them to flippers (= the grey market)? How is it possible that weeks after a new release you can buy these models at the grey market? Who's selling these watches to the grey market dealers if not the ADs?

    • @whereRbearsTeeth

      @@KalchykDen they are not impossible to get like everyone on RUclips would lead you to believe. My recommendation would be to visit in person as many local AD’s as you can. Introduce yourself to a salesperson and tell them that you’d like to purchase a submariner. I guarantee you will get one. You will have to wait, but they will get one for you. I’ve done this three times in the last two years. All with ADs that I had no prior history with.
