I got mine from the AD in April and absolutely love it. I love the more tool watch look and functionality. It definitely suits my style. I am on the list for a Batman, but am afraid I'd not wear it as much with the extra bling in that model. I've seen many Submariners and Datejusts when I am out and about, but I've seen an Explorer II (previous model) once in almost 5 years. Enjoy!
Excellent pickup James, congrats. Also great to see you stuck with the tool aesthetic, a perfect lifestyle watch. Looking forward to your review 🥃
Nice one 👍I prefer the black dial over the white, unpopular choice i know.
Im the same. Most like white i swear as its different to most range of rolex that often have black dials. But to me, the black looks classier. Shows the white gold indices perfectly, whereas the white gold on the white dial is covered with the black details.
Me too
@@chrisgeebeeahhh good point about the black details on the white
Recently picked up a new Explorer 1 40mm from my AD love to pair it with an Explorer II ! It’s an awesome timepiece! Congrats
Black my choice over the white for the explorer 2. I would have snapped up at under retail also. Look forward to the review in a few months.
This is why I love my Omega 2503.50.00 on a nato... nobody will think its a special watch, and its not really on thief's wish list
Showcase come back! Lol. Glad to see you will do these every now and then, always enjoyed your channel. Congratulations on the ExpII, the polar is my daily, such a great watch!
A totally agree with ceramic! Great points, these are all the reasons I'm picking up a 226570!
My Omega Seamaster has an aluminium bezel and it has a lovely ghosted blue aged look to it and looks great. Agree on the ceramic comment.
Great points James, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
Congrats on your purchase! Personally, I’m not into gmt watches, all I will ever need would be a gmt turning bezel to keep it as simple as it gets.
In my opinion, this watch is the nicest Rolex make. It does have wrist presence. It's contrast of colors with the stainless, black and orange really pops. It's legit iloty is clearer than the others. My favourite by far
Love it 👍🏻 last weekend I was at my AD and tried on the polar dial ! I’m now on this list 😂
I own the same watch. Its a very underrated piece. I got mine about 18 months ago from my AD
About to get the same watch but the previous iteration. Timely video. Thanks for your perspective as always.
Yep, just picked up a July 2023 polar version for £300 above retail good riddance to the flippers it’s game over, as you say a good opportunity for the enthusiasts
I've got a 216570 Polar, but I like the black dial just as much..perfect daily drivers.
I got the call for the polar version a few weeks back. I declined!
Good man. Tell Rolex to shove it.
Great watch . Explorer 2 is my favourite Rolex .
If you love this watch but do not have the means to buy it have a look at the Japanese version of it from the mid 90's. It is sold under the brand Incipio. I have one, it is an excellent watch, reliable to this day and looks exactly like the original. If you want the look, the tool watch functions, the orange hand and the complete look of the Rolex, and only 400 made, so it is a collector piece and is the way to go. If you want Roles but cannot scoop up 10 grand then Incipo is the way to go.
I agree, the Rolex Explorer line is the only family of true tool watches left from Rolex!
Enjoy your watch in good health!
Excellent choice James, it suits you well
Love someone is buying a Rolex to keep as a heirloom and not flip due to value. Feel the Rolex brand is getting “devalued” because of waiting lists, people flipping them and generally nobody buying them to keep. At least people buy Omega to keep and not flip.
Its good to see omega fans come back to rolex now they can afford it again.
😂
Lol
People buy Omega to keep and not flip. Rolex is getting a reputation as being bought by people who are not watch enthusiasts but purely obsessed with investment value and if they can sell them on immediately. At least with prices dropping the people buying Rolex again will be the true watch enthusiasts.
@@LukeEdwards-x8c correct, because losing money is the highest distinction in horology. And Omega just kills that category of watches that sink like a rock.
@@aussieexpat"omega just kills that category of watches that sink like a rock...." who gives a shit about value retention if youre an actual watch enthusiast. As an owner of both brands, i love both equally and could give a rats ass how much my sub or smp appreciates/depreciates. Theyre both amazing well made watches.
Does this have on the fly clasp adjustment? For a tool watch that would be good addition. Lots of Tudors are getting this feature now.
How’s the Tudor doing good to see back James ✌️
the new sub (41mm) has also the AR coating on the inside.
Nice James congratulations
The previous version was a 40mm - the one with the red hand - do you notice the difference that this one is a 42mm?
The polar version is more versatile IMHO.
I’ll take that Batman if you ever feel like donating it😮💨
Where did you find for below retail? Chronext? Ebay?
I would be interested in the detailed review as to your opinion on how long the black numbering on the bezel would last before wearing off. Would Rolex infill that black again on a service? I am interested in getting one of these in the future to keep as my only Rolex. Always wanted a submariner; I guess because of the bond connection, but the Explorer 2 is the one that catches my eye each time from a design aspect and the practicality of it. Plus love it has the date function - my watches always have to have the date so the Explorer 1 is sadly out.
Mine has been worn almost constantly since 2011 and the black print is perfect. Ive seen videos of then exp 2 being serviced and they fully restore the bezel if needed
Miss your videos man! Do more please ☺️. BTW, is this the 226 with the 70 hr power reserve or the 216 with the 48 hr power reserve?
It's the 226570 . You can tell because it doesn't have the ghost hands
yes.
I got my 1st rolex reaceantly at retail with only a 3 month wait. I was shocked to get the call.
Don't be shocked. You'll be able to get more soon, without having to wait or receive a call.
What model ?
@@goodlifebdg
Oyster Perpetual blue dial.
I like the watch however it seems chunky for my 7 inches wrist
Is it made of titan?
It looks like titan.
Yes. Its the most tooly of tool watches right now.
show more watch, less face
I thought you were leaving RUclips forever…
ssshhh dont remind him stupid. What if he remembers and leaves us forever.
