    Really helpful, thanks. I have a set of Vevor spring compressors which use a super strong single bar and two clamps that cup most of the spring. They are twice the price of the dual compression screw types but much quicker and far, far safer to use. £70 off Ebay. I consigned my old spring compressors to the scrap heap.
    I was thinking about changing the shocks at the same time (12 years old and 155k miles) but found them to be in fine condition. I know others have asked if they should be changed and frankly I wouldn't bother unless scored, pitted or weeping - bounce test them before taking off the strut.

    Hey, i would like to sugest an easyer way to do this job. All of the steps from the begining are correct, but when removing the anti roll bar joint it's not nesesary to lift the hub, it can be pressed down by hand and removed. After that you need to remove the bolt that holds the shock to the hub, and then the most crucial part is to separate the hub from the lower fork ball joint with a fork tool and a flat braker bar. With that done it's not nesesary to remove any more bolts, bumper or anything else, also you do not need to compress the spring before you remove the shock. So when that is done you can press the hub down and slide the shock out. Then you need to put something under the hub to suport it, and you can unclip the shock from the top and remove it. Assembly is the same steps bacwards. This method should make the job for one side quicker by at least an hour, enjoy 😊

    Hello Tony People say the car sills in Julietta are extremely weak to be jacked up. I need to refresh my alloy wheels and I think about to leave the car lifted on the jacks for a few days. What you think?

    • @vialettotony
      @vialettotony  2 года назад +1

      Hi Red Ford. I’m not sure if you have seen the video on “where do I put the Jack and axle stands” but in that I detail how I lift the car. The parts on the sills are the manufacturers recommended locations so I wouldn’t of thought they’d be problematic. If you were concerned though, you could use extra supports on the chassis beams, and/or the points where I put the trolley Jack in that video. The more supports you use, the more you’ll spread the load, so better all round.
      Have a look also at the brake bleeding video as I take all 4 wheels off at the same time. The car was in the air for several hours and no issues at all. I can’t imagine that if it had been a few days there would have been any problem.
      Hope that helps.

    Ciao! Ti faccio i complimenti per il lavoro che hai fatto e soprattutto in condizioni non ottimali (lavorare senza un ponte meccanico e vicino alla strada è molto stressante). Ti volevo domandare perché hai sostituito solo le molle? Ormai era lì e potevi sostituire anche gli ammortizzatori. Avrei sostituito anche i semi bracci con i giunti a sfera: la gomma l'ho vista molto usurata. Se le sfere non sono frenate, l'avantreno fa rumore anche su una strada in buone condizioni. Se il Tuo lavoro finisce qui, allora devi per forza fare la convergenza e settare sul body computer lo "zero" dello sterzo. Comunque sempre molto bravo! ;-)

При этом это быстро и нет необходимости разбирать всю морду и откручивать рычаг. И не надо сжимать пружину. В общем как-то все слишком сложно.
