I love your honesty. When you make a mistake you admit it and do not pretend perfection. I am glad you get the mowing done and I hope the rain is not torrential.
Tom, I know you won’t see this but if you do, I’m so jealous that you still get to farm and spend time with your Dad! Please Please cherish it, you won’t regret it. I would give almost anything to spend a day cutting hay with my dad. I get to do it with my son, and I hope he feels the same someday. Wishing you and your family nothing but the best, and thank you for letting us be in your lives! A humble haymaker from western Pennsylvania USA.
I will give you a pro tip, Tom, it is also low cost to keep things like this from happening, load up a car, fourwheeler or tractor with orange electric fence poles, or take white ones and put a orange flag on them with something, so they are clearly visible After every cut, you put them up at stones and stuff like you hit, and it will never happen to you again, we farmed the same farms since the 60´s and it never happened to us after we started doing that as a tip from another farmer
Great idea an isolated object in the middle of the field when I was learning to glide when approaching to land we were advised not to aim at the lorry towing the winch cable back up the airfield however being human even on a completely empty airfield the lone Lori always ended up as the target to which you aimed for without even thinking about it it takes a lot to concentrate not to aim your glider at the tow truck. The same will probably apply to loan electric fence poles stuck in the middle of the hayfield
The mower damage can happen to anyone when the manholes are unmarked. It happens. However, you need to put some flags/markers on those manholes to prevent the visibility problem, so they aren’t hidden by the tall grass surrounding them in your fields.
Tom, I love you to pieces and I love your dad being from the US. Your dad's accent is so strong. I have to stop it rewind and then listen to him again. I love you guys
You are too hard on yourself, Tom. You always do your best and sometimes mistakes happen. How were you supposed to see the manhole amongst all that tall grass? You're not stupid, you're not a buffoon, you're not a weirdo for getting excited about farm stuff and you're not ugly! Be gentle with yourself, you're doing 110% Much love from Nova Scotia!
Tom your not a idiot, never ever put yourself down, your only human, and humans make mistakes, there are enough people in the world who can and often put us down, so admitting you made a mistake, learning from it, and getting it fixed is the best thing in life a person can do, just my 2p worth. M@x
My goodness that's a pile of grass! And well done Mr Ginger, out 'till 4! I'm only 47 and could hardly manage staying out 'till 1. And Tom, don't be too hard on yourself. Nobody was hurt, and it can be fixed. Take care!
Tom, life and jobs don't always go to plan, even for the best of people, your dad is a marvelous man for his age, his get up and go attitude is scarce in society, to do an all night shift up to 6am, a couple of hours rest and then go back out again and carry on, that what he is used to, he can't retire, it's not in his blood, hard working man, you are the same as your dad, hard grafter,, great to see you letting your partner learn the tractor and mowing operations, it would not have happened 20 or 30 years ago, even less, it's great to see not like years ago, michael IRELAND [EIRE]
Really great video for a layman . Watch out for the manholes . Wow didn't think it was bad .so sorry you really taught the lad . You and your wife are so cute . She is a good women .so sweet to bring your lunch and drive the tractor . I am envious . Beautiful day . Thanks for showing us even the bad parts . And teaching other farmers by your mistakes . Good show .
Your suggestion are good but I can see a problem. While I’ve never mowed a hay/Silage, I have reaped/harvested (peas, barley, wheat, etc.) grains and trying to jocks around poles and fences off area are a pain. What I would suggest is a brightly colored pole in line with the drains at either end of the field. That way they would remember to set the Linkage higher for that row. It would keep poles out of the middle of the field so they could keep a good rhythm. That’s the way we did things out in Washington state, US. I’m not sure if their tractors can raise and lower the cutting blades while in motion like ours can. Compared to the tractors/harvesters they use here on our farms yours are smaller. He admits to theirs being a small farm. Out in the Palouse Empire of Washington our smaller farms are about 2000 to 3000 acres, I’m not sure what is common in your area of the world.
You and Joanna (Chef’s kiss). Brilliant. Love the longer videos Tom. Every Tuesday, Friday, and occasionally the Sunday, I’m here waiting. Keep it up!!! Please!! Thank you!
So many people are “Monday morning quarterbacking” in their comments. We all make mistakes every day, and I appreciate Tom’s transparency in sharing his with us. 💪🏻
I really liked your video and you smashed the mowing! Don't be too hard on yourself. You're very good at having a back-up when you need to keep moving! I loved seeing you and Joanna working together, too. I hope it didn't rain!
No no! The problem is the Mower, Tom! The best crop to feed cattle is fermented manhole covers, of course a mower should be able to eat a nice manhole cover to provide feed, otherwise it is no good :D
I often wonder how you have time to keep a thought in your head, you are so great with your farm! Do not beat yourself up it serves no purpose...... I follow everyday, great channel!
It happens Tom don't beat yourself up for it. What I loved most about this video was hearing that the mighty ginge was still party at 4am what a legend!
Hey Tom. I reckon you should bring Euan along more often as he has the perfect timing of a "straight man" for a comedy duo and has obviously had seriously in depth training in how to deliver lines with heavy sarcasm and irony (probably due to growing up on a working farm with "working words" like the Ginger Warrior proved he could utter) 😎😂. Also you could try and persuade Joanna to get in front of the camera a little more often (maybe to show you up a little 😁...). Apart from seeing her delight at doing well, it is great to see her confidence doing "farming things" improve over time... By the way you are lucky you are only due some heavy rain on the cut grass. We had a 15 acre paddock (many years ago) that was cut, then heavily rained apon. tedded once, rained on again and then overnight was blown off the paddock up against the eastern fence before it could be (small) baled. We didn't get a good result from that crop but there was a lot more uncut grass on other paddocks.
Great video as always Tom and ginger warrior, an educational one for us all to experience and get your understanding of being angry and frustrated we all would be especially on a Sunday 4pm, but anyways love a great pembertons silage video 👍🏻🚜🙂
This is the first video of yours I've seen, You live in a beautiful area in England! With a great family! Its awesome to have spare equipment around to borrow in a pinch! Especially with all the rain you get, we do not have that issue, once you start Haying, you go until your done! Thats not that way over here in the U.S. Most everyone has to have spare parts, because farm equipment all seems to be used at the same time! There is very little farming left around my area in Connecticut! Mainly the old Dairy farmers, older children just keeping up with mowing their fields, for feed for beef cows. Some still doing sweet corn. Smart ones also make good hay for the Horse people, they are nuts over here about what they feed there horses, that do nothing 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Thank the lord they haven't sold their family's hard earned Farms! It is also nice to see you bringing family out to learn the operation, & not having to be 100% politically correct, which I think is BS 😂😂😂😂! What the hell are those man holes doing in the middle of your fields? I'm guessing they are for drainage, or electricity?👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for sharing this. Love watching you and the Ginger Warrior in the tractors burning some diesel. AND, best of all, you are willing to use yourself as an example of paying attention and not just nodding along. The groundskeepers at the school I worked at used to walk the fields before mowing and would put in little hazard flags by drains etc. I know this rare for you, but others might want to think about something like that. Great to see as always.
Yeah, here in snow country warning flags pop up every fall so plows do not plow into things like curbs and fire hydrants. Should be an easy fix to add some flags to the man hole covers.
Great video @Tom_Pemberon it’s be a while since we have seen a “stupid Tom” moment everything is always fixable don’t beat yourself up about a silly mistake.. Massive respect to the ginger Guy with the moustache for a late night and still getting to work the next day what a legend!!! 👍👍
Tom, little bit of advice mate, after you have put on the fertiliser & rolled the field, put a traffic cone on any of the obstacles that disappear under the grass. We had a field with several man hole covers & a traffic cone always showed where they are !! Simples !!
You might invest in some white poles to mark things you don't want to hit in your fields. Farmers in the States mark drain tile obstructions with tall poles. Just a thought. It might take some of the stress and guess work out of mowing.
In the snow country we put thin orange stick markers at curbs and other buried hard items so snow plows do not hit them, they stick 3 or 4 feet up. Given your grass is awesomely high maybe they will work for your manholes.
I know probably got a crap ton of suggestions about the man hole covers. But, being from Wisconsin Snow stakes are common place here. Snow stakes are cheap place maker for things like man hole covers.
Flag it !!! Otherwise we'll watch another video like this again. Hey good to know you aren't perfect. Takes a good man to admit his mistakes, let alone put it on RUclips. Kudos . Love your channel
S#☆t happens Tom, You learn from it and get on with what ever it is your doing. No one got hurt. The only thing hurt is your pride. If that's all you get through life then your a very fortunate young man. Crack on with getting things done. Enjoy life.....
Don’t beat ya sen up Tom about the mower. We all have messed up on such occasions and no one is perfect. Iv hit a man hole cover before and cost me £thousands but best thing is to learn from mistakes and I did by making the cover obvious with cones on top so easy to see. Good vid and looking forward to the chopping one 😁
Well Tom I agree with everyone in the comments that stuff like that happens even when we’re careful I’ve done things similar in my field so you’re not alone. Just forgive yourself and move on which I’m sure you’ve done. Ginger guy provided solid humor is always wish we would’ve gotten his reaction to the pothole incident. Have a great week see you all Friday. Be well be you
I just love when your wife is in your videos. Your teaching her how to do little jobs to feel included. Please let her know how great it is to see her stepping up to help. Thank you so much God bless.
That is a lot of grass!!! I can't wait to see how much it ends up being in the clamp! Don't be too hard on yourself! We're learning with you! Your dad looked just like Captain Kangaroo in this video! Great to see Jo! Be careful, she'll take over! 🥰
Wish I remained that calm when I balls up, I unfortunately F&blind at myself gets me nowhere like, but fair play to you, keep up the good work and the videos I enjoy watching, I twiddle spanners for living and wonder if did pick the wrong career at times
To keep from running over those again install a 6 foot tall orange flexible shafted flag. Like a golf hole marker or back in the 1980's we had huge marker flags we put on our bikes.
The person that doesn’t make mistakes hasn’t been born . We just need to learn from the mistake and move on , being down and depressed definitely don’t help . It’s normally when someone has told you about a hazard that’s when it happens.
Tom my uncle does the same opens up with a Kuhn trailer mower then does the up and downs with front and side claas discos works out great saves a lot of time with the corners
Flag those obstacles. Look at getting the bigger mower. Neighbor had an 8 ft discbine and he needed a 80 hp tractor, we had a 12 ft sickle haybine and did the job with a 72 hp tractor. One day we were in similar size fields next to each other and got in there at the same time. He traveled 8 mph and we went 5 mph. We both cut up and down after making the handland passes. We finished first, because there was 50 % less turns, in spite of going 60% slower. We had far less fuel consumption and a smoother ride too. :)
These things Happens us all. Can all be fixed. Good to see you with a Deere in action. Nice R series would suit you snd jo. Plenty of comfort and nice passenger seat😁👌
Not one person here hasn't made a mistake Tom,you have to take the rough with the smooth. No one got hurt and the drum can be replaced. In future when you do your pre-cut walk perhaps you should mark the manholes. Are you gathering silage today or is the weather still 💩?
No worries Tom never get to worked up as it causes more mistakes. The pair of you have absolutely smashed that mowing. Will say never heard Ginger Warrior swear before, bought a smile to my face. Hope it stays dry enough for you to finish the job and get it clamped. By the way look out for the manholes. lol
Well Tom Lad that's what happens when you get carried away with the banter. Just put some markers in the field where the manhole are, I'm sure you can com up with something. Great video though shows your only human, like the rest of us. Always nice to see you and the ginger guy working together.
The more concerned about doing daft things I am, the more I do them. Don’t beat yourself up, take it from me, it really doesn’t help! But it can be flaming annoying though! 🙄😊❤️ xxx
Great video, make a mistake once don't make the same mistake again. Not to worry put some stakes in around the manholes prior to the grass getting long All the mowed fields look good from above. Mind you as I look at other comments someone has beaten me with a similar piece of advice
It happens, I remember a customer that took delivery of his new combine and on the first outing he wrapped the auger around a pylon. Try staking flags up on the manholes.
hi Tom. Look i suggest you let Jo do the mowing - she has straight lines!! She is so valuable. - I agree with dad - piles are painful - get some little flags on poles!!
I love your honesty. When you make a mistake you admit it and do not pretend perfection. I am glad you get the mowing done and I hope the rain is not torrential.
It good to be honest and kind in life
Tom, I know you won’t see this but if you do, I’m so jealous that you still get to farm and spend time with your Dad! Please Please cherish it, you won’t regret it. I would give almost anything to spend a day cutting hay with my dad. I get to do it with my son, and I hope he feels the same someday.

A humble haymaker from western Pennsylvania USA.
Happens to the best of us, only been down an hour is not to bad especially on a Sunday 💪👍
put the stick up the manholes next time
What's up aidrian
That's what happens when have a deere in the wrong hands....@gerry6420 wouldn't a made that mistake lol
We haven't seen Miss Joanna for a while! Good to see you both working together and having a good time. ❤️
She has her own channel.. here’s Tom and Joanna doing a charity run.. ruclips.net/video/t3-_Hdc6wMw/видео.html
Tom, take easy on yourself. We are all doing the best we can. Take a deep breath, and walk on. Life is short.
I will give you a pro tip, Tom, it is also low cost to keep things like this from happening, load up a car, fourwheeler or tractor with orange electric fence poles, or take white ones and put a orange flag on them with something, so they are clearly visible

The same will probably apply to loan electric fence poles stuck in the middle of the hayfield
So at the end of the season your fields look like a really busy minesweeper game? :D
Best part of the video "at least it's good content for the video" you need to bring him along more often
Love the innocence of the young ones. Sometimes they have the best view on things, we just have to listen.
The mower damage can happen to anyone when the manholes are unmarked. It happens. However, you need to put some flags/markers on those manholes to prevent the visibility problem, so they aren’t hidden by the tall grass surrounding them in your fields.

You could use the closed caption-cc
Yay for dad being a dirty stop out👏👏🤣🤣 I love how the field with the pond looks, stay safe look forward to the next video x
Tom is the person ever upsets against others because such a positive gratitude person ever seen 🙏. The nature of the UK cultures kindness society ❤️
Crazy having unmarked manholes in silage fields like that.
Just post and rail the thing off!
As a non-farmer I thought that! Seems obvious.
A single step in post would do the job…
You are too hard on yourself, Tom. You always do your best and sometimes mistakes happen. How were you supposed to see the manhole amongst all that tall grass? You're not stupid, you're not a buffoon, you're not a weirdo for getting excited about farm stuff and you're not ugly!

Hello 👋 dear how are you doing?
It takes a big man in admit a mistake and show it to the world. The man that never made a mistake never made anything.

Thanks for showing us even the bad parts .
And teaching other farmers by your mistakes . Good show .
for the manhole covers you should put a marker pole above it, to help you see where the manhole covers are in the field
paint them yellow/orange and see if you could "borrow" some traffic cones

I meant my comment as a suggestion for next time. I wasn’t Monday morning quarterbacking.
I made a mistake once when I thought I was wrong about something but was not. Just joking!

Don’t give yourself such a hard time Tom, you got there in the end. Smashed it 😎😎
Awesome video, glad to see your wife driving the tractor! 5 star 🌟 🤩 video
Not your fault Tom , that manhole needs a lighthouse 🤔🍻
good to see the wife cutting the grass all the best to you all keep up the good work ps love all the vids
Don’t worry about it Tom it can happen to anyone. The mower can be mended & nobody’s injured.
Don't be too hard on yourself good on you for not editing it out these things happen we all make mistakes 💯
Mark them manholes Tom. It happens to the best of them, move on. Fair play to the wife for having a go aswell 👍
Mark the man holes Everybody makes a mistake keep upthe great videos

Why don’t you have flags marking the manholes? Easy fix
Yeah, here in snow country warning flags pop up every fall so plows do not plow into things like curbs and fire hydrants. Should be an easy fix to add some flags to the man hole covers.
Not rocket science, just good organisation.
If farmers done everything right they would nothing wrong.. to be fair obstacles are part and parcel of silage season
That's what I was thinking too 🤔
This was meant as a suggestion for next time. Some people did not read it that way 🥴
Love to see drone views of the mower (or any of your machines) working. Your grass looks great, so hope you continue to get decent weather!
Blows my mind seeing all the ppl commenting “you should mark those”, no, really? Geez, You ppl have a strong grasp on the obvious.
Whoops-a-daisy! Nobody is perfect and it's nice to see someone put their own mistake out there for others to learn from. Great mowing content!
Great video @Tom_Pemberon it’s be a while since we have seen a “stupid Tom” moment everything is always fixable don’t beat yourself up about a silly mistake..
Massive respect to the ginger Guy with the moustache for a late night and still getting to work the next day what a legend!!! 👍👍
Your wife is looking very comfortable behind the wheel. I love that you show family.
Thanks so much 😊

Bash a fence post in to mark the manhole or lower the manhole cover so it's flush with ground level and the mower will pass over the top.
Good job Tom we all make mistakes the John deer looks well round your place, nice to see Joanna again 👍👍
Don’t beat yourself up Tom, as the saying goes, “SH1T happens”! The damage will be fixed, problem solved. 👌😎
Tom my uncle does the same opens up with a Kuhn trailer mower then does the up and downs with front and side claas discos works out great saves a lot of time with the corners

I feel your pain! I did the same last year with our Krone easycut, found a cast iron manhole. I was mad at myself for ages.
I agree with Jo. The buddy seats should be more comfy.
“Don’t be an idiot” Wise words 😂
The farmers local to me where getting the grass up till 2.15 in the morning just to beat that rain, that is dedication for you.
What a great episode ty Tom. 😎👍
Not one person here hasn't made a mistake Tom,you have to take the rough with the smooth. No one got hurt and the drum can be replaced.
In future when you do your pre-cut walk perhaps you should mark the manholes.
Are you gathering silage today or is the weather still 💩?
You made the mistake of working on a Sunday. Served you right
No worries Tom never get to worked up as it causes more mistakes. The pair of you have absolutely smashed that mowing. Will say never heard Ginger Warrior swear before, bought a smile to my face. Hope it stays dry enough for you to finish the job and get it clamped. By the way look out for the manholes. lol
That’s so satisfying watching the cut!
We put the pig tail fencing post with hazard tape out on the field, especially useful when new contractors come and draw silage.
😅 oh dear! Flags around man holes seems a 👍 good video Tom 🇬🇧❤️
Hello 👋 dear how are you doing?
Well Tom Lad that's what happens when you get carried away with the banter. Just put some markers in the field where the manhole are, I'm sure you can com up with something. Great video though shows your only human, like the rest of us. Always nice to see you and the ginger guy working together.
The more concerned about doing daft things I am, the more I do them. Don’t beat yourself up, take it from me, it really doesn’t help! But it can be flaming annoying though! 🙄😊❤️ xxx
Don’t worry about hitting the cover (it’s done now) Tom, just learn from it. You definitely won’t do it again!!
Happens to the best of us weve all been there, An idea for future is put some stakes in round the man holes so there easier to spot :D
your girlfreind is such a legend dude she is driving for the first time and she is smashing it
Great video, make a mistake once don't make the same mistake again. Not to worry put some stakes in around the manholes prior to the grass getting long All the mowed fields look good from above. Mind you as I look at other comments someone has beaten me with a similar piece of advice
You just gave a good demonstration what not to do,thats classic lol
It happens, I remember a customer that took delivery of his new combine and on the first outing he wrapped the auger around a pylon. Try staking flags up on the manholes.
hi Tom. Look i suggest you let Jo do the mowing - she has straight lines!! She is so valuable. - I agree with dad - piles are painful - get some little flags on poles!!
Chin up Tom, at least it’s done you,Ginger, and Joanna smashed it, So dry, Mr Pemberton senior was not so dry at 4am,lol👍👍.
One tractor, two mowers and work goes faster. Hi from Poland🙋
So easily done Tom, time to get some marker posts in place
I wouldn’t be so hard on yourself Tom, we’ve all cocked up, I can remember when I forgot to fold the chain harrows up and wiped out a gateway. 🤣😂
I moved to the suburbs years ago. I still use the orange stakes to mark the edges of the driveway & sidewalks in the winter.
Cracking video as always Tom. In farming mistakes are made. As long as nothing that’s the main thing
24:45 😂🤣🤣 Ewin is comedy gold!
