We had a couple of neighbours who had just moved in and lived next to one of our fields. During harvest they called the cops as we worked late into the night best time was slurry though they made more of a stink that the slurry did. Police came and said to them how do you think food grows. Next time don't get a house backing onto agricultural land lol.
It's good that you are trying to be a considerate neighbour, however, if someone has bought a house in the countryside then they have to expect countryside activities (like farming) to take place. The UK 'countryside' IS a manufactured environment that wouldn't be the classic image people have of fields/hedges and animals if it wasn't for farming.
I love how polite tom was. I live by farms , worked on farms when its time to spread muck it goes on. If you dont like country smells and sights , and the fact farmers have to work all hours sometimes go live in a city
I’m surrounded by farmland and sometimes it smells and sometimes it’s loud during the day and sometimes the farmer is on his motorbike at 4am outside my place and I wouldn’t change it for the world The farmer keeps an eye on my house so I get extra security I keep an eye out for stock in distress or escaping stock it’s a win win
We moved about 15 years ago to a nice area, with lots of fields and farms. Our glorious ( NOT} council decided that a new housing estate would be a great idea! now, we have over 2000 new builds matchboxes where the open fields used to be. Best of it is we have a few old mill sites and a disused coal and gas site that no one wants to develop! Our house is a terraced old mill workers house, built properly not thrown up.👍
Still hanging out for the drone footage showing any differences/no change between areas you used the microbes on vs areas left without last year. Love seeing the tanking videos mind. All the best to Jo and the little one.
Thank you for your little warning about farm safety. I lost a close friend because he was working on his onion tractor. His brother turned it on and he was crushed. Farm safety is important.
I moved into the Country a few years ago, Lincolnshire.. Right in the middle of all the farms pretty much, Pig Farms, Cows, the lot. the mud around our village is intense sometimes, my poor Saab gets grafted every time it moves, the Dogs come home looking like walking lumps of mud, the dust in the area when its dry, and the NOISE!!! But I wouldn't have it any other way, I love it.
Oh my goodness that's one of the best smells in the countryside. I always open the car window and take a deep breath in when I get a whiff or sighting. 😊
Yes Tom nice one mate definitely in need for a that brush and that a full full slurry pit and farming comes first if you need to spread its by a time you just need to spread it. It’s is what it is
Technically the people that lived on the farm weren't complaining it's the people VISITING who would having a problem with the smell. The visitors aren't living there.
When you live close to a farm what do you expect? How do people think that they get the beautiful green countryside? If you live there long enough you wont even notice the smell, if you don't like it move back to the city where you will be breathing in harmful gases... good job Tom on all levels.
Tom, just this once, if you could get the services of a tanker fleet to quickly empty the slurry pit, that would buy you some time to rectify the problem of extra rain water increasing slurry volume. And, the solution should be a permanent one, not temporary. Temporary fixes tend to cost more if the original issue is not fixed.
@@hsaurid👍 umbilical is when you have a pump at the farm end and then pipes layed out to the field with a tractor on the other end of the pipe driving up and down the field spreading it. I'm sure Tom will do a video of it 🤣
I have a neighbour who asked the farmer not to spread on the field beside us, 2 years later and they are dictating when the field can get spread on to it, be careful what you start Tom 👍👍
It's upsetting that a lot of people in the comments are immediately trying to frame your neighbors as people moving somewhere where they don't belong when they weren't the ones who had the problem with the smell. I get why they would ask you to wait until the city folk left and I think it was also very nice of you to compromise. As long as they are not constantly complaining about the smell I don't think it was rude of them to nicely ask for you to wait a bit to spread slurry. Hopefully, your kindness goes a very long way and you have a beautiful relationship moving forward.
It looks like to me that you’re feels are getting much richer in the greenery and the growth since you have used so much of your own fertilizer I think that is awesome. Waste not want not happy farmer happy cows love it.
Tom, you definitely don’t mind getting stuck into a job. It is kind of crazy, though, that your grass is growing so well it’s even growing on the shed roof.
Hi Tom I know you are sooo busy and have mountains of content to film. So with that being said I was just wondering if I could put a request in. You have this beautiful new milking polar and I feel we haven’t seen it in its operational glory from beginning to end. I’ve been so fascinated by you and the Ginger for years and love watching all of your content and all the upgrades and growth. I look forward to your continued success in farming & growing family. Bless you all love 💕 & hugs 🤗 from Wisconsin
You definitely need to do something to reduce the amount of rain water going into your slurry system. Covering the clamps wil clearly help recue it, maybe also covering the yard in front of the new parlour and/or the muck yard. one after the other, this can be done in separated parts and will not block your operations like the parlour did. Good effort though.
Worked at a large beef slaughter house ( steers, bulls, sheep & lambs ). I had to do a walk thru in stock yard that had covered roofs to check supply & exhaust fans. Steer manure did not smell too bad. Worst was the rendering room where they cooked guts, scrapes etc 24/5. Only had to spend 30 seconds in that room and your clothes and skin had a bad smell. Would wear shoes from work to front door the take them off outside after spending time there. Pig manure along with just pigs are the worse smelling things for sure.
I came over from Doss Farms from y'alls Canada video. So glad that I'm in your family now. But I'm also wondering if Chris is a relative or a friend? ❤. Hugs from Texas sweetie 🩷🤠🩷
I live in the U.S., I would never even think to ask a farmer to delay their job for my convenience. I mean, they knew they moving in next to a farm field, what do they expect? Hopefully for them the wind blows away from the neighbor.
My gable end is plastered in muck after the farmer spreads. We also get random chunks landing on the lawn. I wouldn't dream of asking him not to spread. It's the countryside

I think by turning around you have given the game away about not running the separator the midden has turned into a maize silage clamp 🤣 unfortunately I don’t think that will be the last brick in the tanker given the amount of development work this year but like you said farming is rarely glamorous great video Tom

Another Tom Pemberton production. People who move out of town to the country must accept the smells and farm noise as they were there before them. It's like moving next door to a factory and then complain about the noise, they must of heard it when they looked at the property. Any news yet on junior and Jo? Hope Ginger Warrior is feeling alot better now.
will you please do a video on the cafe and what goes into making it profitable? It would be great to see your butcher in action, and the different depts in the cafe.
First of all it is a working farm therefore things need to be done a certain time and in a certain way, you not getting feed for your animals at the right time means you would have to buy in feed, so work out the cost and say to then Okay I wont do the slurry on that feild for another 7 days but that means I cant get a 4th cut so I am sure you would like to pay x amount for the feed i will need to cart in. Honestly you buy a property near a working farm you expect smells otherwise dont buy there. My rant over for the week lol. Love you videos Tom. One question did you lovely wife have the baby you didnt say in the Canada video

So glad you cleared that gutter Tom - I kept noticing it and it was setting off my OCD !! Great video as usual ❤
Production levels through the roof Tom , you brighten my day with every upload ,thankyou.
Why move next to a farm and then complain about the odor or noise associated with it? Never made sense to me when it happens.
Technically the people that lived on the farm weren't complaining it's the people VISITING who would having a problem with the smell. The visitors aren't living there.
When you move to the country you have to expect smells it’s part of the experience 😊❤
Or move to one of those estates where they have mini farms and no agriculture.
I hope you either put that cover down or your dad knew you had opened it
Glad you put slurry on the fields. So much better than some chemical stuff that has who knows what action to the ground.

How's the milk yield in the new parlour?
As a kid we had a neighbor constantly complaining about the lot beside his house being overgrown. My father's answer, start raising pigs in there.

If you live in the country expect slurry smells, if ya don’t like it stay in the cities and smell a different slurry
