Thanks for watching the videos team 😊 Forgot to mention. TP Merch is going back live tomorrow 🙌 If you fancy some it’s on the website in the description below. 9am Saturday (7th October /Tomorrow)
1. You forgot to pin your comment. 2. The video was only uploaded/playable in 720p and below. 3. I'm subscribed to SaskDutchKid and 10th Gen as well as you plus I watch others, I've never seen anyone put drain pipe in their clamp/bunk. I'm not a farmer, so my opinion means nothing, but everyone I watch always stresses that you have to make sure the grass/silage is compressed as much as possible to squeeze out all the air so it doesn't rot or go mouldy. Reintroducing air through the pipe seems to defeat all the compacting you did, unless there's a more important reason you did that. No one mentioned runoff so I don't know how they deal with that, other than maybe the concrete floor of the bunk is sloped to drain it properly. Just my 2 cents, have a great day.
@@shaunp9592no idea whys it’s only uploaded in 720p. Really weird. I shoot everything 1080 🤦♂️ I know it’s just gets water out the way when it’s rains so much here 🙈
@@TomPembertonFarmLife Thought the infamous British weather might be it, can we look forward to a roof build over the clamp in 2024? Not asking you to give anything away, so don't answer, we'll just have to wait and see.
Solutions and help, that's what comments are for. If you would like to have the drain pipe without risk of air getting back, there is a way. I am an engineer and part time (very) small farmer. My solution to the drain/air conundrum is a U bend (you need somewhere to allow the neccesary pocket below pit floor level) Or just put the open end in a bucket of water with the top at floor level. So long as there is a fluid seal over the end of the pipe. Water will drain out but air can't get back up the way :) Liked the projects but grand to be seeing you farming again :)
A "Silage Expert" told me the same thing about the pipes letting in air. I took his advice and TOTALLY DESTROYED MY SILO WALLS! 17yrs and very little acid damage and one year without pipes destroyed my walls!
That Hurliman really does do it! But I hope you can get a bigger tractor with AC soon. You deserve it. And I think the Ginger Warrior would be proud of how you did. Hope he is following the Dr's orders. Love following your exploits from afar. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Try sidesheets Tom. Hang them up before you start, fill your clamp as per normal, once she’s full fold your side sheets over the top as far as they will go and then top sheet as normal. Will eliminate a huge amount of that waste 👍🏻
God that was a lot of grass, just shows that if you put the work in, the results speak for themselves. When you mowed it, it looked really thick so am not surprised the chopper was having an issue. And those contractors, they certainly earn their money. 👍
Tom, it shows that you love and truly enjoy what you do. I envy you in that respect, I don't envy the amount of effort it takes for you to do what you do.
A most excellent chopping video. Always love a good chopping episode. How about putting a one way flapper on the drain tubes. Won’t stop all the air, but should stop most of it. Also, you might be able to retro fit an air ride seat in your tractor. Way cheaper than a new tractor.
Excellent video and brilliant sound track to go along with the drone footage ❤ and you have wonderful neighbours Tom, and how is Jo doing? I hope she is resting xx
Good video. Dave and the team do a good job. It's good to see a contractor that always has the same staff. Must be good to work for. Bob Stuart John Steve must have been coming for years. 👏👍👌
Beautiful video Tom. You work so hard and you still put out incredible videos. Loved see you here in Canada. Talk about a stressful trip home! Please tell Joanna hello. ❤❤
I've been a die hard follower from day 1..... and Mr Pemberton ur videos have become so professional... amazing the progress over the years.... ur awesome
Deere is good equipment (and made in my home state). I love watching your videos. Making silage was one of my favorite jobs when dad and I were dairying together. Good days work. Well done.
Tom, Have you considered cable tying about 2ft of lay flat hose to each of your clamp side drain pipes? They will act as a one way valve letting out the silage effluent, but then laying flat and not allowing air to back-up into the pipes. Regards Gareth
Favorite videos!!!!! Drone shots of tedding and chopping! BTW, how are you feeling, Tom? I don't remember the exact question, but you are supposed to check on each other to see how you are mentally. So have you checked with Luke and your Dad lately? ❤❤ Hope Joanna is doing well!
Great video Tom as always, if you make the last few feet of pipe a solid bit and fit a none return valve as used to stop high water returning up land drains, it could stop air returning once the juices stop flowing!
That's a fine looking clamp of grass. It struck me as I was watching this video the need for some fire sticks in your tractors Tom. Too late when really dry grass and hot machinery meet. Well worth the effort and investment.
Hard to get good help these days, even the machine are striking for better working conditions. I pray blessings over the farm and family. May the winter be just cold enough and spring come soon.
Get a Dewalt Batt power Leaf Blower heat the end make it tighter and you can use it to blow out your cab. I use it to clear snow off the truck here in winter. Cheers mate,
Tom i have an idea to stop air going up the pipe get some marigold gloves cut the tips off the gloves and put them over the end of the pipes and put rubber band on it. It will allow water out and have less air getting up the pipe. Hopefully it will work. Love the videos. Hope to come over to ya sometime next year
The end of the Pit drain pipe needs to be submerged under water to provide an air barrier. Same principle as a toilet S bend. Keep the lovely silage smell in the silage. And the oxygen out of your ferment.
Hi Tom, I am watching your Videos for such a long time, and there is one thing i am always a bit confused about. You are always talking about the quality of the grass, but if it comes to compacting the clamp you are so lazy. I mean not at the end, while chopping! I am from Austria and, obviously we are practicing so many things in a completely different way, but for us the most important thing is to compact the clamp as much as we can. Sometimes even the chopper has to stop, which is clearly more expensive, but overall we have absolutely 0 waste of silage. And another crazy thing is your pipe in the clamp. Never seen this before on any farm in our whole country! We always put sheets on the walls, which is in our opinion the best way. Greetings from Austria, have a great day! Keep pushing!
40th! HAPPY FRIDAY MORNING TOM,LUKE,HIEDI, AND THE GINGER WARRIOR WITH A MUSTACHE AND HIS APPENDIX SCAR! Farming has its ups and downs, this is just one of the downs. It will all work out, it usually does. Roger in Pierre South Dakota USA
Hey Papa Tom. Harvest is beginning in earnest all over the place, of the farms I am following. Filling Bunks, Harvesting Beans and Corn, and Filling Bins !!! Winter will be here before we know it, Especially in Canada !! How is Mama Pemberton and the baby coming along ?? Are we getting close to delivery in the next few months??
Hi Tom would you ever consider moving the Collinson bin to somewhere more out of the way? Maybe where the bales are stacked beside the slurry store? Might give more space and less waste of grass with one less wall to work around! Great video as ever we didn't brave a third cut this year
Sheet it as soon as it’s finished with will save you a lot of waste. I was told by a nutritionist that for every hour how much air got into it and the knock on effect on quality was very shocking. We get ours sheeted and air tight as soon as it’s finished, then our nets and stuff on the next morning
I’m a new sub, from North Carolina USA… your operation is amazing! Great photography! Chad Doss sent me to your channel… I can see why you guys hit it off so we’ll… I heard you quote Chad say “ look at all those chickens…”. I laughed so hard because you were walking among your cows.
So that clamp replaced the old one where you and the ginger warrior took samples off grass in the old shed. In a previous video. I'm that video you explained about the drainage water going into the sorry and that you would separate it. You did yay!
Tom, get some grease on that caridge plate, make it alot easier to slide them forks across, im a full time fork truck driver and seeing you slide them forks made me think, GREASEEEE
Take it this video was filmed before going to Canada. Great film, you will have to get some of those tracks levelled out, not so rough on your back or tractor.
Thanks for watching the videos team 😊

That was the most epic production I've seen you pull together. All action, drama, beautiful shots... Just amazing!
Thanks mate! Really appreciate that ☺️
Another very interesting video Thank you slow down you won't bounce around 😊😊😊😊😊😊
It so much fun to watch the process of farming. You make it even more enjoyable with your positive “get it done” energy.

Some of your best videos Tom are when things haven't just gone to plan. 👍

Tom! Mate! This is easily your BEST video! Absolutely stunning footage. You’re living the absolute dream!

Loving the drone footage and music. Must feel good getting back to 'farming'
Anybody else think that rake is amazing, such neat rows and a clean field
So so cool!
Excellent video and brilliant sound track to go along with the drone footage ❤ and you have wonderful neighbours Tom, and how is Jo doing? I hope she is resting xx
What is the song called
Great drone shots keep up the hard work

Drone footage is excellent! I love watching the haying and filling the clamp. Cheers to your team. 👍😊👍
Deere is good equipment (and made in my home state). I love watching your videos. Making silage was one of my favorite jobs when dad and I were dairying together. Good days work. Well done.
Looking good. From those drone shots, looks like there is a good stock of cow input and output, that's a pretty full tank.
🙈
Always something on the farm! Good video.
Brilliant team work, as always.Tom. Love watching your busy day bringing in the food for the winter months. Thanks for sharing.😊
Brilliant vid , probably the best of any farm vids i'v ever watched, a full on real day of what it takes to be a farmer.
Thanks
This was fun, educational and interesting all the way through. Thank you for the patience of editing and sharing this with us all. ❤
So awesome seeing field work, sunshine, nice music, and your countryside. Love and prayers 😇💜
Happy Friday Video everyone! Have a great weekend! Be Well Be You
Tom,
Have you considered cable tying about 2ft of lay flat hose to each of your clamp side drain pipes?
They will act as a one way valve letting out the silage effluent, but then laying flat and not allowing air to back-up into the pipes.

wouldn't work, water would lie and stagnate in the pipe making things 100 times worse
Hope your having a great week

I’m probably around at 60-65% at the moment. Been a hell of a week, knackard but ita looking up ☺️
I’ll make sure to do so !
Great video Tom as always, if you make the last few feet of pipe a solid bit and fit a none return valve as used to stop high water returning up land drains, it could stop air returning once the juices stop flowing!

Great video Tom best one I have seen in a long time 🎉like the American dream song you put in with the drone footage 👍🏻🐄🚜

Seeing you walking the sides down took me back to my young years at silage time on t'farm. Just a couple of DB 995s on the pit back then. Good times.
It looks great!

The cut looking good tom
This is my favourite time on our farm. You will love the maize we use a lot of it
amazing love the vids always look forward to your chopping vids
Your drone footage is awesome! 😀
Tom you could try getting some caps for the pipes in the silage.
Then when the grass is dry plug up the holes!
1st music and drone fantastic 👍

Great video as always Tom
Cracking video! Always banging out great silage videos TBF 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 and learned something new..... "shims" also funny blow at Olly 😂
Third cut is looking lush, leafy, but slightly moist. I believe Tom, you may be in the market for another clamp location.
Prayers for health and safety!🙏❤️🙏
I really really enjoy your videos!

Hey Tom great vid 👍when I make my silage I don’t ted it out but I can’t get my head around why you want really dry grass for the pit
17:32 gonna need a helmet brother!
It’s bad init 😂
Hi brother
Good farming
Your job is great......
There is always something going on with your farm. You go around fast and furious. The slurry holding tank is really full.
Why am I the only one to like the video with ALL THESE COMMENTS?????!

Damn the fields look good when they are tedded.
Love watching the clamps get filled up,will the roof be on next year ? Just watched Doss Farms in Canada some really good equipment coming out 👍🏻😀
the clamps was just big enough ... good effort.
great stuff tom
Yes tractors do run well with oil, must check every week then your machinery will last 👍
So that clamp replaced the old one where you and the ginger warrior took samples off grass in the old shed. In a previous video. I'm that video you explained about the drainage water going into the sorry and that you would separate it. You did yay!
Massey Ferguson all the way !! -Brilliant
New tractor Tom I see mr Cornthwaite has a Hurliman for sale with the same reg as yours
Top stuff!
Great video. Only one thing in Ireland we feed our contracting men . It's a decent thing too do
That feed bin is really in the way now lol
Tom, get some grease on that caridge plate, make it alot easier to slide them forks across, im a full time fork truck driver and seeing you slide them forks made me think, GREASEEEE
Nice my brother 💙👌🏻
I suggest that you use expanding insulating foam to seal the pipes
Evening Tom, i just had a thought with the pipes. Could you put a one way flap on the ends to allow water out and not let air in? Loved the video.
Weather much better with you guys than here on the east coast of Ireland just north of Dublin we’ve had a shitty week
Great weather for haymaking. It looked like a very efficient job. The farm looks fabulous from the air.
PS. Please change the teenager music!
Hi from 🇬🇧Chad sent me from Doss Farms good music and videography
