mango is like the lobster of fruits. Its so big but only has a little fruit to eat inside. Lobster has a big body but you can only eat the tail and claws.

First use a potato peeler with straight blade (not serrated) with slim neck (peel don't get stuck on the peeler), peel the mango, then cut it as shown here (but cut it as close to the seed as possible). You can then eat it, slice it, or cut it up anyway you want.
this way makes it hard to grip, so maybe use a fork to hold it steady?
Took my over ripened, squishy mango and made a big mess with the potato peeler.
This is why you look up how to do something before trying to do something. Never assume!

What if the mangoes are soft or too ripe
Watched the full video. Very informative and helpful but I did notice several things. Option 2 and 3 did not work well for me. In fact I basically ended up with a mango slushy after trying several times. I also followed her directions on how to peel the mango with the peeler. I thought there was a reason she peeled the fruit towards herself so I followed her guide…there was not. By the end I ended up cutting my self tens of times and I still have a mango that’s not fully peeled. DO NOT PEEL TOWARD YOURSELF. 6/10 video

I thought cutting mangos were like cutting up a pear or an apple…no… no it isn’t. I will just buy them pre sliced for now on.
It's a little tough the first couple times but it gets much easier as you do it. You can cut the mango in about the same time as this video!

Don't eat the skin FYI. It's got urushiol oil in it and if you're allergic to poison ivy and oak, the skin will cause you to break out in itchy rashes.
