Make this cake today - I followed your recipes except I omitted the pecans out of the actual cake batter. This cake is amazing😱😱😱😱 so yummy. I also made your sage dressing without the meat and your chicken gravy.....delicious
Forgot, the Caramel pecan sauce was EVERYTHING as well - yummy sooooo good😊

I think so. If you can’t have nuts, go for it
CookingWithCarolyn can I make it as a layer cake as well? If so, what sz pans and how long should I bake them for? This cake looks huge so I know it’ll probably make 3 layers easily.
Melody Moore I’ve never made this cake into a layer cake. 9” pans are standard but I can’t tell you the baking time because I’ve never done it before. Since it’s less batter in the pan you’ll need to start the cooking time at maybe 30 minutes and then check it with a toothpick after that. This is a pound cake so this is the best info I can provide not knowing what the outcome will be.

Hi Melody, since she didn't answer you yet, I made it without the pecans inside the cake badder but went ahead and added some only to the topping and it turned out great. I imagine you can also not add the pecans anywhere if you didn't want to. It was a very delicious cake.

j81jevon You can do that but then the pecans won't be covered by all of the caramel. Now, I said you can serve the "leftover" caramel on ice cream if you don't put it all on the cake. Ice cream with this cake is definitely for the brave lol
You're right..i just thought since there were already pecans in the cake itself. But i'd probably make another batch of that caramel sauce for those who like a lot of sauce.
