First I was afraid that you will use a complexe software... but I was so happy to see inkscape that use a little bite. Thank you for teaching a use that I didn't know :)
So glad I found you. I just had an order to use a handwritten note on a tumbler and didn’t know how I was going to do this. Instant subscribe for me! 💕
Amazing i have been working on a project for a month still trying to figure out how to do it and your video popped up. Within half an hour all of it was finished. Just wanted to give u a big kudos i probably would have given up. Ty
Thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial! I have been trying to do this for 2 weeks. Inkscape looked different for me but with your explanation I was able to complete my project tonight! Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤️
THANK YOU for this - it worked like a charm and saved me so much time cleaning it up in Design Space. My Inkscape looked a little different and I just played around and got it to work! This is a great video! :)
I saw they recently did an updated version of Inkscape. When I made the video I was using the current Inkscape software (but it’s since been updated and looks different from the video).
Yes, unfortunately, there has been a software update to the program since I filmed that tutorial. I'll need to film an updated video with the new inkscape update.
I was able to use this and follow the steps and it worked BUT my Grandma used paper with lines on it, and I still have the lines on the cut file - how would I remove those?
I was wondering if anybody else's grandmas wrote recipe on lines paper, That's the first thing I noticed when I looked at my grandmother's recipes, and I see nobody answered you about it so I'll have to Google it and see how to get rid of those lines Did you end up making the project?
I made this video before Inkscape did a program update. If your image is too light, you could trace over it with a pen to darken it and then try the tracing/converting steps in Inkscape. Also, make you sure you save the svg file in inkscape as a "plain svg" not the "inkscape svg". If it's saved wrong, it will produce the error message when its pulled into other design programs.
why is this not working for me??? I have one of my mother in law's cards and it will not do what you are showing to do. I have done it multiple times and nada. HELP please
Hmm I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be working! If Inkscape isn’t working right have you tried background remover website (www.remove.bg) I’ve had success using this site too with removing some backgrounds.
Fabulous help! Just made teacher bookmarks using my daughter's handwriting. Hoping they'll love them.

Oh yay! That makes me so happy to hear! I'm glad your project turned out well. :)
Thank you for your very clear instructions, you've gained yourself a new subscriber!
Yay! Thank you 😊

This is such a great idea! Thank you for sharing
This was a game changer. Thank you so much!!!
So glad it was helpful!
this was so very helpful. Thank you
THANK YOU! This was SO informative!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Very helpful.
I'm glad it was helpful!
If the handwritten note was on a brown paper, can you change to color to white?
Hello! I was just wondering how you weeded this project? I can not seem to get it to all come off perfectly. Thanks!!
I use a pin pen to weed small projects like this. It’s a total game changer!! I highly recommend one if you don’t have one already. 😊
Downloaded Inkscape. When I chick on path I do not get the same tools shown when you open it. No colors, no remove background?
Love this video, thanks! Quick question, how do you set the page size as 8.5 by 11 when bringing the image inside?
Amy, what type of vinyl did you use for tis project? It turned out so well! Thanks for sharing.
I used Siser Easyweed heat transfer vinyl. Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. 😊
For some reason when I click on trace bitmap, mine does not look anything like your choices.
I saw they recently did an updated version of Inkscape. When I made the video I was using the current Inkscape software (but it’s since been updated and looks different from the video).
@@amycreates1075 Can you do a quick add on to this video so we can follow along please. I am having the same problem also that Lori stated
@@heidisfun If you click the multiple tab you can select remove background and stack as well as set the number to 2
Exactly what I needed TY
Is there a certain setting you have the machine on to cut intricate cuts well? My machine never cuts small details well 😭
Have you tried setting your dial to ‘custom’ and the selecting the washi tape setting? I find that to be helpful with small cuts.
What setting did you use to cut it? What pressure also? Thank you
I used the regular htv/iron on setting. I didn't do any adjusting to it for this one.
the box that pop's up after going to Path>Trace Bitmap and does not look the same as yours and not as many options that you are talking about?

@@amycreates1075 Thank you I want to do this so bad. I will be watching for it!
Worked fine yesterday. Today cricut says unsupported file. I did make sure I used plain svg. Any thoughts on what went wrong?
Sometimes Cricut has some funky issues. Maybe try clearing the cache and trying again since it worked once it should be good to go. :)
The version of Inkscape I downloaded is different than this one. Are there different versions and which one did you use?
Hi- unfortunately Inkscape has been updated since I filmed this video. I will need to do a new video with the newest version.
I was able to use this and follow the steps and it worked BUT my Grandma used paper with lines on it, and I still have the lines on the cut file - how would I remove those?

Did you end up making the project?
I can't seem to get it right, my Inkspace doesn't look like yours. My one might be too granulated. it was written in pencil.
I tried a different route, and the Saving of the SVG is not supported.

How did you do the weeding?
I have a pin pen. I purchased mine from 143vinyl.com and its SO good at weeding small fonts/images.
Thank youuu but how do I get it from my files to the design space?
If you go into design space, click on upload and it will allow you to select a file from your computer to upload into design space. 😊
Can you make this a draw file for design space? I want to draw it onto recipe cards.
You could use printable vinyl for the recipe cards. Print the recipe off on the vinyl and then place the vinyl on the card.
