    It's awful what happened.. but holy cow, that kid handled himself better than most adults in an interrogation room. He was calm, cool, and collected. He had his story straight, and he stuck with it. Didn't crack once under pressure.. a detective's worst nightmare.

Also, these pigs shouldn't be able to blatantly lie to extract information and when asked how they got that info, simply say, "its confidential" or, "i can't say". That's total b.s. Honesty is a two way street. And credibility is built on that honesty...these cops have neither.

      Except in the sons mind his daddy must love him since he took the blame and is sitting in jail for him. I think they both played the system quite well but it makes me wonder if they planned it all because that boy was not the slightest bit intimidated by the possibility of going to jail whether it was for lying or murder. Mind you his dads plan failed in the end. If he did plan it that is. It’s crazy to think that a man that sleeps with his could have that much forethought. They ruined more lives than just their own and I doubt they think it was worth anything now.

    Joshua did a pretty good job holding his own with the detective for a teenager. I’ve seen many grown men fold for way less. Which makes me feel like his dad has talked a lot of outlaw/criminal talk in front of or to Josh.

    Hearing his life details is just heartbreaking because he was bound for a rough life as a young adult. Moms death, dad’s imprisonment and then relations with a cousin. Not having a regular place to sleep. It’s just sad and lots of kids deal with this. I was so lucky to have the parents I do. So lucky. Couldn’t ask for it better.

    This interrogation is like the situation today I had with used car salesmen. They were convinced I had more money than I had. That I was lying. I told them what I had to work with but they insisted on trying to get more. The "interrogation" lasted for hours. They wanted to know everything. I told them what I had to work with. Just find me a car for that price. Oh no it couldn't be that simple. It was torture. Like I was suspected of committing a crime. Same questions over and over. Pressure and fear tactics. These interrogations are crimes in themselves if the person is actually innocent.

They spent three days a week stoned out of their gourds to deal with the fact that they were stuck in our town and high school until they were 18. One went to Columbia and one to Johns Hopkins, and both were from families near the poverty line.
      I absolutely believe Trey was on the honor roll, poor kid, plus his GPA would have been an easily verified fact for any cops and/or reporters.

Meaning that if he had to invite him its quite possible that Tray wasn’t the type to smoke out of habit/smoke at all, except for of course that one time Joshua invited him and killed him while at it. I heard Joshua claim that all of them smoked all the time.. But again, he IS a murderer and I don’t think I would believe anything coming out of his mouth.

    I like this format of pausing to reveal pieces of the story behind the interrogation one by one.
    JCS and other contemporaries usually give the full context in the intro and the rest is pretty played out. Nothing wrong with it, but this is a nice change of pace.

    TY Red Tree for covering this case. I watched this trial live. This case was definitely crazy. The "dad's" *complete* testimony is a must see. The entire trial is a great watch and definitely worth the time. "Dad" had tried desperately to "work the system" with his full admission/confession (that got his son off and the boy was found "not guilty") Dad pulled a stunt at his son's trial and his own sentencing. He did a 180 rebuttal. The man is pure evil on so many levels
