Great video. Straight and to the point! I am adding the Scotch drill auger to my camping gear and a wood rocket stove will be great to make while camping/survival. Also makes a great slow burn fire for heat, etc. Many different applications can be used for this, with the wood R/S being just one of them. I’ve been primitive camping for 40 years and never thought about adding this vital to until now. Oh, well, as they say, better late than never!

The point of a rocket stove is the direction and the velocity of the flame upward. There is a proportion that needs to be followed. You have to drill 3 holes roughly ⅓ of the circumference apart. This will provide the volume of air needed.
Where you start your fire is the 2nd important part. The fire should be started down the center, in the core, near the bottom of the log. If done correctly, your log will burn
evenly and efficiently. It's been done this way by the Europeans for hundreds of years. When you draw tips from other cultures and countries about surviving in the wild that are time-proven to work, you use them. Survival is a skill that is learned by actual experience. I'm 74 and still learning. I have used my skills from Denali down to the tip of Argentina, crossing the desert in the Northern Territory of Australia and some of the densest, harshest jungles in the world with only a large knife and hatchet.

Use your knife to chip a little wood out of the center and you get the same results for less effort and you don't need that drill at all

MREs are a whole lot better than when I was in the service, early 70s, but that still didn't look very good. My son was in during DS and he said some of the meals weren't half bad.

This has nothing to do with survival this is more living out there because random people are not going to be walking around with these tools.

Did he say it was about survival? He said he was going to improvise a rocket stove. This was in the verbal introduction as well as the title of the video itself. You assumed it was about survival, and then criticised it for not being suitable for people in a survival situation. Your logic is messed up

There are many different ways to make holes. A knife comes to mind. The key here is: improvise.
