How you Make Intro
That Looked Like Douglass Fir Wood. Makes me curious if you're in Washington Oregon or northern California.
fantastic, worked great, going to try this, just subscribed... also Corporal, since you were in the marines, I was wondering if you thought the criticisms were fair in this video: ruclips.net/video/T7l-G8gDC9A/видео.html ... sorry off topic but you came to mind.. love the channel!
Just curious cause ive never heard u speak on it....are you into firearms? Do you conceal carry?Do you support our second amendment?if you could make a video on the subject im sure me and other viewers would be delighted!thanks chad.
Corporals corner wow very interesting I loves bushcraft and spoon carving greeting from UK England Essex near London I subscribe to ya sir as for your food I loves hot sauce Carolina reaper my favorite 🐾🐺👍
Right to the point, no annoying music, title that matches the subject, clear and good information and demonstration, not a recording of a robot but of a human. Thanks, this is the way to make a good youtube video!
some militairy shit man, i love it
o i cant stand annoying music on youtube videos. i wont subscribe 2 thier channel if they music
I would pay dearly for this dude to take me and my son out for a week and teach us !!
That's what the channel is for buddy just watch
Same for me but with my fur son
He just did. Pay attention.
@@clockandballtorturewithcra5010 stop and your self
@@greyranger9311 watching a vid will never be as effective as the real thing buddy
As a former Marine Corps NCO, I really enjoy your straightforward, no nonsense style. Keep these videos coming.
I think the hole size is perfect. The bigger you make it, the shorter its life cycle is. Great video indeed!!!!!
Besides being inordinately pleasant to watch, everything he does makes so much sense. I keep saying, I should add that to my bug out bag, and yeah, I can do that. Loved the rocket stove!
This dude is a badass. Love how he gets straight to the point.
1:50 "Keep in mind you're doing this by hand..." o shit i forgot
Frep I am not liking your comment to keep it at 69 likes
He was and always will be a soldier, above way above average!!
He doesn’t fill his videos with a bunch of talking that you don’t want to hear. He just shows you how to do it and stays on point and is very blunt. Just like Shawn Ryan with Vigilance Elite.
That moment of suspense when he starts eating... just waiting for the magic word.
"Outstanding." Gets me every time.
You have so many useful skills to survive in the forest!
You are one of the best teachers on this subject! Your magnificent professional workmanship is simply astounding and delightful!
What on Earth, I am a 60 year old woman, who lives in the city, has never camped a day in her life, yet, I want to just learn all about survival skills...I find your videos compelling, Corporal! Great job, thank you. PS my millenial kids would think I was nuts if they saw me learning about knots and crossing raging rapids either under or over techniques...But I need to know!
Pia Colucci, awesome you!! I got millinial mostly grown-ups with a few millinial youngees, whenever anything of theirs breaks down, it's old me their first contact, and they wonder why I go bush. Give it a go test your learned knowledge and turn them into life skills, Honestly you'll not regret it, there's a lot of good and helpful people out there.
Good fortune to you and happy trails 😁🙏
+Anvilshock - Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!, LMFAO
Come to British Columbia Canada - best camping and scenery going.
Pia Colucci Lovely comment
I'm a 62 year old, woman, and I agree. I intend to get back to nature, soon, and these skills will make it so much easier.
Your survival skills and knowledge is great. Making us natives blush
I think bush craft and survival skills should be taught in schools. Everything has gone so tech oriented now kids won’t know how to survive if it all comes crashing down.
Damn sure we're going to need them in near future
maybe thats the point.
The Army never taught me about fire building. I learned the craft in boyscouts
TRUE!
I've seen many versions of the rocket stove, never used one but I will try it out this summer looks like a great way to keep a fire lit in the rain
For a man who must have eaten literally thousands of MRE’s during his service, to still say his Ravioli is outstanding is the ultimate sign patriotism!
This man needs a cooking show where he makes the set at the beginning of the show
Brilliant. LOL
I completely agree. Corporal, Thank You for your service and thank you for these videos! I hope to one day meet you.
you mean like bushcraft cooking?
With his chain saw yes.
That would be AWESOME
You make me into a camping God, in the eyes of my grandsons. Thank you for your service
Outstanding out-of-the-box thinking. Very impressive. I have a bunch of logs from felled pine tree. Definitely want to try this! Thank you sir.
Great practical use for your auger. Thanks for the consistently entertaining and informative videos.
I like that you don’t talk/narrate more than necessary. Peaceful while being informative.
Great tool and idea - Simple, very portable and adjustable with an extension as you say. Creates a good cooking fire with minimal effort and can be easily replicated in minutes. I'll be trying it this fall while camping. Thanks. Semper Fi.
Always nice to see and hear a veteran showing the knowledge and skills most of us don't possess. Great job CPL. Keep up the good work!
After 23 days of eating sandwiches only during hurricane Katrina. The ravioli was the first hot meal I had. It was a delicacy
Shawn Kelly is the Chuck Norris of the outdoors.
You are saving lives. What's that old saying, give a man a fish... You are truly a hero.
Just add another hole in the side to increase the air flow. Also, keep the center shavings in an altoids tin. It's great fatwood.
It was simply a suggestion however, after reviewing your videos I see that you are an expert so I guess we should leave the comments to you moving forward.
Good idea with the altoids can.
Great comments DigDug529. Those of us learning and doing enjoy bouncing ideas off each other. Keep on keeping on my friend.
Sadly too many fools flap their pie holes way too much. If we left it up to imbeciles like Centurion Coles there would be zero progress. Ever.
There's always a guy like Centurion Coles in the comments.
@@digdug529 I'm sure just because he is very knowledgeable, he wouldn't knock a great comment like yours that you added. The day someone believes they know everything, is the day they stop learning.
And I'm confident Corporal didn't learn lots to pass on and teach by not listening to anyone.
Thank you for your comment and your humility. Cheers.
This guy seems like he'd be calm af with incoming mortar fire. Let alone in the woods without anything.
Or the crackle of small arms fire in Taliban land
News flash no one is calm during incoming mortar fire!
Greatest bushcraft skills ever..we sure do appreciate all your hard work and thank you for your service
I live in a desert climate , the sound of birds in video and water is magical to me one day when this corona is over am traveling to live that Thanks for the vid, your voice like a military man :)
What a great idea I would never have thought of that .making a stove out of a tree stump .out standing .
u see the injury in his hand? now he is the real shit. i have seen videos where actors build a 3 floor wooden cabin and no scratch on them. but this guy is real
Food Network...give this Vet a show.
Great video. Straight and to the point! I am adding the Scotch drill auger to my camping gear and a wood rocket stove will be great to make while camping/survival. Also makes a great slow burn fire for heat, etc. Many different applications can be used for this, with the wood R/S being just one of them. I’ve been primitive camping for 40 years and never thought about adding this vital to until now. Oh, well, as they say, better late than never!
Finally! A legit use for the flashing mode on a headlamp!! Lol
Damn, right lol! I always thought it's fucking useless and only for kids to play around. At least someone found some use! :)
@@ArnoldSig not at all a flashing light can catch the eye of someone quicker then just a regular light beside a light could be anything but a flashing one you know someones either in trouble or needs help somehow because like you said its useless unless trying to signal someone
I just wish they added another button for flashing mode. It sucks when they put all these different modes on a flashlight now days and you need it off right away.
A strobe can blind a predator or attacker
@@sickfoo5506 a proper blinding strobe is much more potent and flashes rapidly, not in those half second pulses. Some torches meant to be attached on rifles and the like have that mode, it's not on any headlamp or other trekking equipment that I know of.
Morning, Corporal! Love your channel and your vids! Thank you for your service! Hooah!!!!
The point of a rocket stove is the direction and the velocity of the flame upward. There is a proportion that needs to be followed. You have to drill 3 holes roughly ⅓ of the circumference apart. This will provide the volume of air needed.
Where you start your fire is the 2nd important part. The fire should be started down the center, in the core, near the bottom of the log. If done correctly, your log will burn
evenly and efficiently. It's been done this way by the Europeans for hundreds of years. When you draw tips from other cultures and countries about surviving in the wild that are time-proven to work, you use them. Survival is a skill that is learned by actual experience. I'm 74 and still learning. I have used my skills from Denali down to the tip of Argentina, crossing the desert in the Northern Territory of Australia and some of the densest, harshest jungles in the world with only a large knife and hatchet.
I’ve learned so much from this dude about shelters and low profile fires than I did as an infantrymen in the guard 🤣 but I’m not complaining hey can’t wait to put my knowledge to use when I go camping
from logburn to heartburn
Entropy wins from wood stove answers to colon cancers
He's gonna need that "smoothin it latrine" after that pepper sauce.
Randy Plett what does that all mean?
Great video
Thanks from the south of Chile
Found your channel last week. The travois was the video the first got me checking you out.
I'm gonna use THIS one and blow my wife's mind!
Thanks for the education, and thanks for you service to our country!
I really like the opening sound of your drilling the wood as well as the editing and the bonus MRE taste test!
you made a awesome tool
That is an interesting concoction he threw together there, I must say.
Thank you Sir for the share and for serving this great Nation!
Some of the old tools my granddad had would come in handy these days.
Great video my son and I have made a few of these already, but the home made tool without using a cordless drill is gold. My son collects pine pitch from the trees where they are damaged and boils it in a can til its like a resin, then we pour it down the chimneys so they ignite easily when we are ready to use them. I keep one in my 4x4 for just in case moments and a few on our firewood pile for camping fun.
Bravo!
I can say, when I cook some Ravioli in the kitchen, I'm like ok big deal, but when you cook ravioli out in the woods, on a fire you made yourself, lol man it's awesome!
And BTW thank you for your service!
Outstanding use of your Grey Matter. Thank You !
I could watch rocket stoves burn all day. Really cool
Hell yeah, this is a cool channel!
That's phenomenal. I need to get an agur bit and have a go
No point. You'd need a decent sized saw to cut a log like that. If you've got the saw, you might as well use IT. Instead of that first hole he drilled, cut a cross with the saw instead. Use your knife to chip a little wood out of the center and you get the same results for less effort and you don't need that drill at all
You are very informative and an excellent narrator. And have my utmost respect.
Hells yeah! Ravioli with the bacon cheese spread is a golden meal. Thanks for the tip. I was going with spliting the stump all together.
Great video mate. Cheers Kev
LOL!! I loved the little stove you made out of the tree stump! WOW! And that packaged food - wow so interesting. And it cooked very well on the little stove! It actually looked good to eat! I would love to try this - not sure if I would be strong enough to drill through the stump. This was really fun to watch! Thank you!
Oh OK. Thanks for the good advice!
Was cool, but how often will you come across a section of a log, that is saw-flat on the top and bottom? Other than demo it can be done, the practicality is what?
SC Rider pretty common to find cut up deadfall when hiking places like the PNW. Although i would build a variation of swedish stove. It operates the same and can be made from arm size braches.
I'll try camping using nature.
I feel my mind healed thanks to video.
I was so shocked to see the smooth face again, 5 years. Time flies. Hairy face looks great on you.
Great video Corporal. When you get done cooking just split the stump twice and you have a Swedish stove.
Exactly, share my channel with others
Why did I never think to put the cheese spread in with the ravioli?
You failed me, battle buddy!
Made one of these today from a tree I fell last week, simply bad ass. Im not using it to cook today, just using it as a portable fire that I can move spot to spot until the walls get to thin. I had it sitting in a wooded area & I was in a seat chilling, then I moved it to my deck & used it there for a while & yes I was being careful. Thanks Corporal for the idea & your service to our country !
My father showed me this over 40 years ago and his grandfather used to do this .
Damn brother, you are amazing. I can't get enough of your tutorials. I will watch some more on my breaks during the week and definitely on my weekends. Cheers and God bless.
GOD BLESS U
I've seen people employ simple tools that are beyond their intelligence in bushcraft. This man modernized the use of a simple tool by welding the socket to the eye. Great innovation. I enjoy your vids.
Makes me realize how much I miss camping for sure.
I think the way you did it was perfect. Its going to burn itself over time and burn longer and get better as it burns.
Found the video, pretty cool! I thought that you had more side holes drilled, in my minds eye I would drill one down and 3 side holes but after seeing this I think that might create too much intense heat and would probably burn the food or even the pac. I need to find me a good sized auger bit and try this one out, thanks Corporal!
Outstanding, thanks for sharing, can't wait to share this with my buds!
Simple, easy, and highly effective. Thanks! 👍👍🔥🍻
the contrast between the natural environment & the artificial ingredients in the "food" always gets me..
I shudder at the thought of cheese sauce :/ but hey, hot chow is hot chow =)
ive got some old timber framing auger bits laying around. now i know what to do with them. thank u sir!
Where can I get that anger but with the "handle" like in the video?
Right? I'd love some good old bushcraft cooking with this
next time he can cook you instead
Justin Westbrook shut it, bitch
5:45 you're about to have a rocket stove in the back of your drawers mixing in that cheese and hot sauce 🤣🤣🤣
underrated
Very good idea. This is a finnish candle. Like
field coocking from scratch 101 - thats a show i would love to see :)
This is the kind of guy that goes to the field and gains weight instead of losing weight!! LOL Way to Go Partner!!
Well, this seems pretty nifty.
Always know that you will learn some great stuff with the Corporal! Love it!
Yay the best ever Swedish candle.

The video could have used some Alicia Keys, but otherwise it was outstanding! Ha! Thanks for your hard work!
This is the most fascinating channel and thorough presenter I’ve found!
Thanks for the tip Corporal. I'll make sure to test that next time I camp in the wild. Cheers !
MREs are a whole lot better than when I was in the service, early 70s, but that still didn't look very good. My son was in during DS and he said some of the meals weren't half bad.
Bill McCaffrey Some are good and some not so much
Anything beats nothing, just wish they were more filling for bigger guys.
I've eaten a few MREs in Boy Scouts, definitely not the worst thing I've eaten during a camp out! lol
Bill McCaffrey they suck
Bill McCaffrey Honestly I like them, others may digress but tbh I think they're good.
The only stove i can afford 🤣🤣
Many thanks - great instruction and the simple physics of this makes it work well.
You are one of the only people that ever helped me on this sort of thing also 6:54 I just love your Selter
I want one of those, and maybe a 1 1/2 inch one... have you considered making some, and a modest sales thing for those... Consider me a customer- Thanks. Good video... Bless

김재선 I agree completely, lol.
That's pretty clever, actually
That's easy for you to say
Kk
For only a 1” hole that “stove” of yours produced an amazing amount of heat. When I saw the food “boiling” I was impressed. I subscribed.
I just love that salute!
Awesome I am going to try this, without the scientifically engineered food haha. Thanks for the video.
I just love your project. On woodprix I've found great wood instructions to make it too :)
Just love that. Thx
Thank you. So cool.. but Hot and I love Ravioli.
After that I would limp back to my tent and a shot of whisky.
Nice video.
Short. No annoying music.
Warming and rainy
I always do enjoy the meals you fix, I wind up going to the kitchen and cooking and eating !!!
The cheese with jalapenos is better.. LOL
This has nothing to do with survival this is more living out there because random people are not going to be walking around with these tools.
you are right so I guess there is no reason to learn it. Thanks for watching
Did he say it was about survival? He said he was going to improvise a rocket stove. This was in the verbal introduction as well as the title of the video itself. You assumed it was about survival, and then criticised it for not being suitable for people in a survival situation. Your logic is messed up
There are many different ways to make holes. A knife comes to mind. The key here is: improvise.
Thank you corporal Kelly. I am using this technique this weekend for a camp stove. Keep up the great videos brother!
I have found my new bushcraft tool. Well done sir.
Good meal choice that was one of my top favorite mre's
The good ole days. The over nighters are fine but bring more videos like this back brother!
It works! French toast in the wild. Amazing. Thanks a million, takes a while but really gets going!!
Great video. Sticking to the subject. No unnecessary jokes out of the word hole, like some other videos do. Thank you!
