    This is the design which will not create smoke. You have provided small vent in front below the wood chamber and opposite to this another vent to Suck the air which is a must for the wood to burn. Then finally at the top around 2 to 3 inches below the open portion for keeping the vessels so that the smoke will escape without creating a soot deposition on the cooking vessels. Kudos to your efforts. This is the ideal design for a rocket stove.

    Okay, people, be wary of this thing: chances are, you'll keep it outdoors. That means it will get wet. Concrete absorbs moisture like a sponge. So when you fire it up, the moisture inside turns to steam and there's a better-than-average chance it will blow up like a bomb. You could get hurt. Seriously hurt.
    The guy who made this video knows this - if not, he certainly should. And there should be some warning about it.

    Lots of exploding cement comments on here and it depends solely on the cement used. If you use regular cement, then it will likely crack or possibly explode if the cement was wet. However there are cements made for this type of application. They are usually called high heat furnace or high temperature refractory cements. Those types of cement are non porous and can withstand direct flame without cracking or exploding. Provided you set (vibrate the concrete) and cure them correctly to avoid air pockets. The non porous nature of these types of cements, will prevent moisture from absorbing into the cement and causing catastrophic explosions to occur. Basically use all products for what they were intended for and read the product instructions to make sure you are using it correctly.

    Several people have requested a material list in the description, which is a great idea. What is the oil in the beginning? What type of cement mix to buy to withstand high temperatures? What is the green and white objects placed in the bucket? This would be good info to have to make this more of a "how to" video and less of a "watch me make"
    If you are not going to provide a materials list, then just change the title of the video to Watch Me Cast a Stove From A Paint Bucket"

    • @Logiwonk
      @Logiwonk 2 года назад +19

      If I had to guess - oil is probably old motor oil, white object is packing Styrofoam, green is that material that florists use to hold flower arrangements. It looks like most of the materials are repurposed/salvaged waste products. Some info I found on mixing cement for stoves: www.traditionaloven.com/tutorials/concrete.html#:~:text=Calcium%20Aluminate%20cement%20and%20Lime,cement%20replaced%20with%20the%20lime.

    • @acrobata
      @acrobata 2 года назад +20

      The white material seems to be simple styrofoam. The green one, i think, is that kind os sponge used in fake flowers arrangements.
      The oil is any oil, even already burnt, to release the bucket. The cement mix...is one capable of withstand high temperatures (ask guidance to a salesman in your area).
      Give a list is cool, but the video is very intuitive.

    Looks like a neat idea but the other posters are correct: You need refractory cement, and you need to keep it wet for four weeks so that the chemical reaction can proceed, for maximum strength. Also, after a month of being kept wet, you need to fire it several times with a very small fire so that any remnant moisture can be driven off.

      Not really. We have used cement and concrete cooking stove and no experience of exploding. If fire has limited escape routes and heated to 1000 degrees C it can explode even with fire bricks. Google is helpful to answer that. Our food cooking only requires 74 degrees or 165 F and mostly people will adjust the temperature. So explotion never occured in all concrete stove I have seen and experienced. Plus this vlog also shows outdoor cooking with ventilation.

    I definitely have to try this. I want to clear my garden this year and bring in some rocks, so a stove will be ideal once that's done!

      Be careful using rocks if they are to dense they can crack and explode

      @@silverdragonden872 Ah, no no, the rocks are for the garden, but any stove will be separate. Thanks for the thought . 👍

    So good. Is this also giving heat like a real oven? Of course inside you have to build a way out through the window.

      Any substance that the material used won't adhere to, Vaseline would work there are professionals products called releasing agents, when constructing tilt wall structures we used a liquid form of releasing agent we called monkey blood.

      reddi mix, just add water. Probably mix a half a bag, replace those skinny bars with some 1/2 rebar those might heat warp

    • @MrJohnMainwaring
      @MrJohnMainwaring 2 года назад

      If you do this, nice design insert some rebar on the top to so you can put a smaller pot. Cut a piece of tin for the top or you will blacken the pots

    When my husband and I had only been married about 2 years. He built a little fire to grill with on the back Cement porch. He put down aluminum foil And placed some wood sticks Bricks and grill! He poured on the lighter fluid and let it soak in to the wood. It also sunk In to the pavement. Luckily he went into the house when it blew. It blue several holes in the concrete and if he had been out there he could have lost the dial or a finger or whatever. Luckily the baby and I were in the house. Yes it's very dangerous season dry submit because that drought have been there in that patio had been there probably 20 years.

    What kind or type of release agent did you use for the cement, and what type of cement did you use. I see you made use of Styrofoam for some of the openings and floral foam for the fire box and exhaust pipe.
    In the description can you include a list of materials so others. An build one as well?

    • @liquidtopaz6903
      @liquidtopaz6903 2 года назад

      He used engine oil as a release agent, not sure what cement. Beser block/Cinder block works well for fire pits.
