Finally, after about an hour of searching how to update BIOS on an ASRock motherboard, let alone the exact board that just came in today, this B650M-HDV/M.2, I found the right video...
Thank you for this, I will just have to follow everything you did since it's the same board and the same CPU as well (7500F). Can't believe amazon shipped me a 1.21 version too, which is already 9 months aged now.
Stock seems to be moving either slowly or the first batch of boards was huge

Just a reminder the "anti static" bag the motherboard comes in is conductive by design, so don't be sitting it on top of that during this upgrade.

you just save me from a bad situation, I had just bought a computer and i was trying to update bios because the cpu is too recent,
but, as you mention, removing ram and little pin is needed before starting the update ! (and nothing in the user manual mention it)

I have the B760M Steel Legend and also have the new I5 14600k (14th Gen). However my B760M doesn’t have an update button for the Bios to update as it needs version 3.04. How would I go about updating my Bios?
you need an older compatible CPU to borrow
Hi! I just bought this motherboard along with a ryzen 7600 and a 7900 GRE, according to the Asrock page with the Bios 1.17 is enough to boot, do you recommend me anyway to update to the latest Bios before putting it all together or I leave it just like that? Thanks
yes i will always recommend the newest bios for fixes and security patches
What is the ideal cluster size for a 32gb USB? You put the (default) but what this gives? Some experts suggest the cluster size of FAT32 to be set at 16 or 32 for a 32gb usb stick cause it can't go lower anyway due to size. What the "default" choice gives?
the default is a good question, i assume it reads the memory chips much like XMP or EXPO does and decides from that

Hi mike, I just got this motherboard and I realized that I bought XMP ram. My cpu is a Ryzen 5 7600 (it is supported with the bios that the mb came with) Would you suggest to update the bios to the version 1.30.AS05 that Optimize XMP/EXPO boot time (taking into account that version still in beta), or should I just update it to the newest version? or dont do an update at all?
And another question, as I mentioned I bought a ryzen 7600, this mb, 32gb of ram, the ssd. an old 1050ti (soon to be updated) and from my old pc I have a EVGA 700w bronze. Can I use that psu with this new pc?
i would usually suggest that with the new intel and AMD platforms that is it a good idea to keep the bios as up to date as possible for stability even if it is a beta, most beta bios become a fully fledged version shortly after anyway. Sadly at the moment with this new platform we are all beta testers it seems.

I've recently given my CPU an upgrade, moving up from the Ryzen 5 3600 to the Ryzen 7 5800X. However, my ASRock B450 Steel Legend motherboard hasn't seen a BIOS update since I first acquired it for a mere $60 back in early 2022. I find myself pondering whether it would be prudent to update the BIOS in order to fully capitalize on the capabilities of my new CPU. What are your thoughts on the matter🤔?
yes it won't recognise the CPU without a bios update in most instances, but if it is working, say a prayer and feel happy
did it work i have the same motherboard n I'm tryna update from ryzen 7 2700x to the ryzen 5 5600x but the latest bios update was released this year in june and it is beta which worries me and I think I need to use a flash drive (USB drive) in order to update the bios. how did u do it? n did it work?

I do the same process on the gigabyte b650 but i see the light on the qflash button and the cpu led is always on and red is that normal ?

I just got this mobo shipped with ver 2.02 today. Should be good enough without flashback?
Edit. I got a ryzen 5 7600, 3,8ghz. Is it safe to go with the latest driver even if the list said compatible ver 1.17?
yes the 7600 will work with a day one bios, and update to the newest bios when you want to

I did it from my MacBook Air and on the kind(type) tab instead of saying ROM file it says Document. Is that okay?

@@mikesunboxing oh.. MSI says to install cpu and ram on the a620m-hdv/m2 motherboard I just got in order to have flashback working as opposed to this board.. Well, if it is the case, I am in trouble now as I don't have yet a cpu for it..
I will have to take the 7600 I have in my other computer to test it out if it is the case.. It is strange as bios flashback is supposed to take care of that exact problem that board wouldn't post with incompatible cpu..

Asrock b650m-h/m.2+ I can’t update the BIOS, the green light is constantly on. I downloaded the drivers from the official asrock website. I don't understand what I need to do.
is it constantly on from the time you turn on the PSU?

Does that mean that you can just flash latest version,
ie instead of flashing bios version 1->2->3->4-5
Or 1->5 ?

it can work on a fully built system, but like i said the less you have mounted the less do diagnose if it doesn't flash

In my experience, the 7500F worked with the 1.21 BIOS out of the box.

Hello. Today I built a new computer: ASRock B650M Riptide motherboard, Ryzen 5 7600, Kingston Fury Beast 16GB x 2 bones, RX 6700XT graphics, Endorfy Supremo FM5 Gold 850W power supply. After assembling and trying to start it, the LEDs on the board light up, the CPU and case cooling fans start and stop after a few slow revolutions. The disk starts and also goes quiet. the graphics card backlight is on, the fans do not turn on, the monitor screen is black. I disconnected the card, connected a monitor to the board output - the screen is black, nothing changes. I disconnected the memory sticks, changed slots, left only one stick - no changes. In the end, I left only the processor - unchanged. I connected a working 750 W power supply from another computer - no change. I'm already helpless - the board's power supply and CPU have been connected and checked several times, as well as the processor and its cooling. I flashbacked the Bios using a pendrive and the rear USB port (bios from November), but it didn't change anything. Does anyone of you have an idea what could be wrong, because my son was happy with his new computer today, and in the end I feel ashamed of him... I'm looking for help everywhere.
I have the same problem with the black screen but it was after changing a setting in the bios, before that my PC was working fine, I also checked everything, I even tried to reinstall the bios but the green light stays still without flashing like he said and without being able to see anything with the black screen, I don't have any other pc or laptop to download the bios from a deferent side as he said, the PC stays without booting and the only the first 2 boot lights of the motherboard turn on the other two on tap not, I had no other option but to buy a single DDR5 memory stick of the cheapest but at different speeds since on another pc I had the same black screen problem, but it was still deferential because I had bought memories with different speeds than those supported by the CPU and I had to change them and it was fixed, I hope this helps me otherwise I don't know what to do because I just bought the parts for this pc almost a month ago, if you find any solution please come back and help

I don't know what happened to you but i had the same and what fixed it was to first reset the bios (i removed CMOS battery so do this wait 10 minutes and then also use a jumper or your screwdriver to connect the 2 CLRCMOS pins between them , this is also called "shortcircuit the pins" but gives the creeps to people so i prefer to say "connect via the screwdriver for 3 seconds" This will reset the bios to more default values. Then connect only 1 dimm of ram to the slot that is found to the furthest position and see if you can seen anything. If not try it on the other positions too. If nothing happens still try the other ram stick. When you get a signal get in bios and set the XMP to the lowest (of 3 ) setting. For ddr5 this is usually on XMP3 and at 1,1 volt. Then save and exit. Let it do it's job and on next post remove the cables to have it again shut down . Connect both your 2 ram sticks on their right positions so it usually on the furthest bank from cpu and on the second from cpu and it will probably "see" the dual channel and both sticks.

I had to use like 6 different USB drives, the one that finally worked was an old PNY 4GB drive from when i was in high school ~14 years ago.

You definitely don’t want to rush into a job that might potentially kill your graphics card or motherboard when flashing a bios, we try and inform and educate at the same time.
A lot of people just want to be told what to do, which is fine but there are a lot of variables that can go wrong so having a bit of extra depth and knowledge helps you understand not only how to do it but why you are doing it
I'm so confused. Lol. Isn't it a bios update that you just hold the button for 3 seconds then wait for it to stop flashing?
Not sure what has to do with graphics card. But regardless your video did help me. Because your info told me about the flashing turns solid means not reading the drive so thank you for that. I flashed successfully with your help.
