I can't choose between the ASRock B650M PG Riptide wifi or the ASRock B650M PG Lighting wifi. No matter what price range of AM5 mATX boards I look at there are always a bunch of negative reviews. I am down to these two. Any suggestions?
PG Riptide is a better board. It has better VRMS than Pro RS, PCIe 4.0 x16 Slot while Pro RS has PCIe 3.0 x16 Slot for CPU, Pro RS has 1 more m2 slot than PG Riptide, IO connectivity is the same, PG Riptide has 4 pin 12V Power Connector while B650M Pro RS doesn't and yea thats about that. If that is worth more money to you, then sure. Both boards are good. If you can afford more for PG Riptide and you want better VRMS, you can add and get it. Is it worth it? Well, depends on cpu you use and if you need more m2 slots. If you do happen to use more m2 slots, then Pro RS is better.
i just bought this exact same board, the non wifi version. I am gonna pair with the 7800x3d and ddr5 gskill 6000mhz ram cl30 ram kit. What should i expect after i build it when i press the power button? the ssd will be without windows so i will need to install but what will first expect once it boots up? I will see a black screen for quite awhile due to memory testing? i have no experience with building amd platforms.
@medx6552 I have a 7800x3d set up with this MOBO, was not the easiest set up and get working. Asrock are still trying to patch the bios as the boot times aren't good. They added in further support for the 7800x3d in a later update so I would flash it to the latest for now, I mean the latest is still in BETA 1.30. Windows often crashed without EXPO or XMP switched on for some reason, I'm still looking into this.

This board only supports the AM5 7000 series cpus. You can use bios flashback or update the bios through the bios itself. Refer to the manual for bios flashback. Usually have to download bios flash, rename it to something else and plug it into one particular usb port and hit the flashback button.
im thinking of getting this mobo for my micro atx build, im using a ASUS Prime AP201 cabinet which is pretty small, and im using and AIO cooler (ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 RGB) which has pretty big overhead fans. i'm nervous if the big back panel is going to get in the way of the fans so i cant installe them properly. do you have any idea, any help would be appreciated.
When you say it took a long time to post on your first boot up, roughly how long was it? I bought this motherboard a few weeks ago now and I still haven't got it to post. I've now breadboarded it with just the cpu and cpu cooler attached along with the power cables going in to ATXPWR1 and ATX12V1 and ATX12V2, sadly nothing is happening. The cpu cooler fan is not spinning, nor is the psu fan and the Post Status Checker lights are not coming on. The only thing happening is the rgb lights around the chipset heatsink are pulsing different colours.

Not out of the box, but with an add in card from asrock that you connect to the 5 pin header on the bottom left hand corner, you can get thunderbolt 4.
True, but I think budget means cheapest best option not cheapest prettiest RGB. For example, if the total budget is met, $20 could be used for better storage since the cheapest nvme is usually QLC and DRAMless which is terrible as a system drive@@ItsMemeTarkov

The Aorus Elite AX is much more expensive than the Asrock Riptide now 👍👍
The riptide is still better. The elite ax is nice looking but has a lot of problems sadly.
