    Hello,
    I plan to buy the 7800X3D. I am not interested in overclocking and want to buy the Asus ROG Strix B650E-F version because it is significantly cheaper than X670E-F. Do you recommend buying this CPU for a more "inferior" version like the Asus ROG Strix B650E-F. The X3D will work fine?

    • @DannysTechChannel
      @DannysTechChannel  Год назад

      It sure will! The VRM and MosFets can handle that chip with no problem. I run an X570 board for AM4 but with the direction board manufactures have gone with price and performance, everything has gone up. I’ll most likely follow your lead and get a B550 board with a 7800X3D as well.

    Another reason to get the Extreme chipsets is for mini-ITX systems with only 3 slots, one x16 & two other 4x for nvme. It makes sense to have 2/3rds of your slots being PCI-e 5.0.

    This guy is good. I do dissent on his recommendation to avoid the PCIe 5.0 MBs.
    Some of us keep our MBs for half a decade or more. Bought my current in 2018. It is only PCIe 3.0 because 3.0 was the best SSD on the market at the time. If it was 4.0, I would not be considering an upgrade today.
    If I want 5.0 storage in a couple of years, I don't want to have to rebuild on a new MB. Buying cheap today with no PCIe 5.0 means another upgrade would be necessary sooner. Might as well spend the extra $100 and have an MB that will be very useful in 3+ years.

    • @DannysTechChannel
      @DannysTechChannel  Год назад +8

      Like I showed in the budget category. You CAN get PCI 5.0 for cheap with something like the ASRock board but it’s not a necessity. Thanks for the input! I think most buyers follow your same upgrade method.

      I agree but definitely a budget issue for most. If you're upgrading to this board then more than likely, you're also upgrading your CPU to match the chipset, will need to upgrade ram for DDR5, and most likely a graphics card to not bottleneck unless you're rocking at least a 3090. Starts to add up pretty quick.

    • @Wilvin
      @Wilvin Год назад +5

      @@unIdentifieDskate I understand. However, if your budget doesn't allow you to make the most sensible / best value purchase for your gaming PC, then just wait until it does. Why rush an upgrade now just to have to pay more later?

  • @KaiserMaggus
    @KaiserMaggus 11 месяцев назад +9

    theres a few points i disagree with about the B650/X670 "E" arguments:
    -higher cpu overclocks: no. its depending on the silicon-quality of the cpu itself - not on the motherboard
    -better vrm and & power delivery: well, mostly every cheap b650 can run a 7800x3d as it is very efficient and powerstages arent a problem on x670/b650 in general
    -higher memory overclocking: wrong. overclocking of ram depends mostly on the ram-controller of the cpu
    the only thing viable on the b650/x670 "E" motherboard is indeed PCIe 5.0 for the gpu. and even the newest 40-series nvidia dont support it. also this isnt bottlenetting gpu at all right now, so over the next few years there wont be a benefit in having pcie5.0 for the gpu.
    i run a cheap ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 with a 7800x3d and 6000cl30 ram just fine. 130€ for the board
    boottimes seems to be an issue on am5. gigabyte and some asrock are the fastest ones. asus and msi seem to be really slow.

  • @Galileocrafter
    @Galileocrafter 6 месяцев назад

    I think the Asrock B650 Livemixer is a solid choice too. Lots of USB-A. One PCIe 4.0 x16 and x4 directly off of the CPU and one x4 off the chipset, all physical x16. You can even put in a Thunderbolt card.
    Btw. be aware of the boards that have a two PCIe slots off the CPU. Some split them to x8/x8 when plugging cards in both. This can slow down your GPU by 5% to 10% !!! because now it only has an PCIe 4.0 x8 instead of x16.
    Also, bios flashback is required by AMD to be on every board.

    Hi Danny, I'm looking at building a new gaming rig for the first time in about 15 years and am interested in investing into the AM5 Platform and currently have the following components on the shopping list (budget is around £2,000). The games I like the look of are (I mainly play FPS and RTS games): Cyberpunk 2077, Doom Eternal, Call of Duty series, Overwatch 2, Borderlands 3 and such like. I believe combining the Ryzen 5 7600X with a GPU like the RX6800XT (or higher) will squeeze the most performance out of the system and also has an upgrade path built in (the Ryzen 5 7600X can cope with the fastest GPU on the market, even the monster known as the RTX 4090 - so maybe when the price drops).
    * CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
    * GPU: Radeon RX6800 XT or the 6950 XT
    * Mobo: MSI MAG Tomahawk B650 WIFI
    * CPU cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin or DeepCool AK620 (or maybe an AIO Liquid Cooler like the Arctic Liquid Freezer 2)
    * RAM: Kingston Fury BEAST RGB 16GB (2x8GB) 5200 CL40 or similar
    * PSU: CoolerMaster MWE Gold 750W V2 Fully Modular or similar (min.750W, at least B-Tier)
    * Case: So many to choose from but 2 that I like are the Be Quiet! Silent Base 500DX and the Antec NX410 (ideally would like the Hyte Y60 but this is a tad pricey at over £200 and the GPU is the most important component of all)
    * Monitor: Gigabyte M28U (a 4k one).
    I'd be interested to know what you guys think of this proposed setup!

      You don’t need to go all out on the motherboard. A B650 board will do just fine. I usually look at the rear I/O like USB ports and Ethernet speeds to make sure it’s got everything I want. I also look at how many PWM fan headers it has. I like all my cable routing to be easy. So I’d say it really depends more on what case you choose than “future proofing”
