I seriously love this ride. The pinkness has gotta be the best part though. Glad you liked it. :) Ever since I learned about it, I’d really wanted to ride it. I am a kid who lives in Australia. Then I watched a few of your videos, specifically your “Best roller coaster from each manufacturer” and your “Best coaster of each year” videos, where you assumed that it was a Top 10 coaster in the world and said it looked like one of the most insane coasters ever built and I learnt you can ride it backwards. And I remember you also said that if you looked at all the Top 100 Roller Coasters in the world videos you would always find DC Rivals in the Top 10. I fully agree with that. I rode it for the first time in March of 2022 when I went to the Gold Coast with my family and rode it. The first time I rode it, life was never the same. Then I rode it backwards…it’s my favourite roller coaster and I had wanted to ride it for so long. Then later in November of 2022, that year I rode it at fright nights. I even got one at like 8:30 at night, BACKWARDS WHILE IT WAS RAINING. It then proceeded to break down, and I spent about minutes on the break run, in the rain, looking up at the Joker Face and just saying to myself things like “That’s a Beast of a ride and “That’s such an incredible ride” I love this ride so much. I can’t say enough, but it’s very special to me (the most special ride in the world to me, infact)and I’m so happy my favourite roller coaster RUclipsr got to ride it and enjoyed it. It’s such an incredible ride. In early 2023, I got diagnosed with cancer. And for my make a wish, I choose to go up to the Gold Coast and help operate Leviathan, and the other coasters on the Gold Coast, and get unlimited backwards rides on them all, it this all applies to Leviathan…and of course DC Rivals HyperCoaster. I’ll be going up in February of 2025, so I’ll also get to do the new Wizard Of Ozz area. I really am so happy you liked it so much and am insanely excited to ride this monstrous coaster again. Also, Sorry for giving my whole ass life story. - From Hamish :)
You don’t have to worry too much about fastpass if you visit at the right time! I’m a local and after I saw your Movie World vlog I had to go marathon DC Rivals again that week because you reminded me how much it ruled, managed to get 7 rides in even though I arrived at 1:30pm despite the operations because if you go to Movie World after Australia Day (26th of January) all the kids have gone back to school and you can additionally take advantage of the single rider line! I went on a weekday because I’m a university student and university hadn’t started up again yet but on the weekend during the school term it will still be fine if you arrive at park opening because you’ll have extra time. Thanks for reminding me how much it ruled though I had a blast! (but I think it really has four airtime hills at the end because I always get airtime going into the brake, especially towards the front)
Great video! Nice review! Definitely a unique credit to have along American enthusiasts. It'll be fun to watch your top 50s from now on and see this coaster from halfway around the world in them.
Awesome work! That coaster looks like a blast! I wanna ride everything at that park. What a great experience that had to be for you. Side note; love your comment about the middle rows on Airie, my son and I rode every seat on it and honestly thought the middle was best. 👍. Keep making content man, love it all.
First comment! And first like! And good luck on Australia, I was told by my parents that when they lived there (which they don't really remember), there's a whole lot of dangerous/poisonous spiders that snuck into their house. Also I hope that the fires are long gone.
I had a great time with this one. By pure chance, I got the front row for my first ever ride and it left my mouth dry! I absolutely agree about those final hills, but I still got air on all the S hills and the L turn. Due to my low credit count, this is my Number 1
Rode this thanks to being an oveaseas university student, I can agree your description of dc rivals backwards, just got yanked towards the lap bar at the end, several parts are also crazy
Ive heard that after the dreamworld accident, Australian parks got MUCH stricter with basically everything, and that includes operations/lose articles, even though that wasn't involved in the dream world accident.
@@AirtimeThrills its more specifically Queensland, following the Dreamworld accident the QLD Government implemented increasingly strict regulations around all amusement devices with little understanding of what they were actually regulating. Its essentially at the point where the parks have to go above and beyond in every single area to prevent anything happening. Top that off with some really scummy journalists who report on every single minor thing that happens in the parks as though it was life ending. Its unfortunately a recipe for some really crappy operations that the parks can do little about
This was my first ever proper thrill coaster, and I got off the first ride amazed! Sure, it has a dead middle section but the first and final three elements are just insane! And I live in Melbourne, which is on the other side of the country, and still everyone knows what the "Joker" is!
Very fair review. My only disagreement, is that the front left seat is the best. On the first drop you get a moment hanging over nothing, before a rather forceful whip around as it drops. And the mid-section feels faster, as you feel a kind of thrust pushing you, similar to a bodyboard on a huge wave or a motorcycle accelerating.
I love the ejector air time at the front of DC Rivals. I still need to get a backwards ride though cause they weren’t operating the rear car when I was there last. I put this above Ghost Rider though. Wooden coasters never fair well in my rankings but Ghost Rider is amazing.
Someday I'm going to have to get myself over Australia. Movie World, Dreamworld, and Sea World Gold Coast are 3 of the theme parks I would like to visit.
i have ridden this coaster over 15 times ad only got the back row once never backwards i have ridden it in the front rows row 1-3 it really has that air whippiness that i love its a 9/10
I have not been on DC Rivals but the coaster I think it is most similar to is Expedition GeForce and I rode it last summer and actually will be riding it again this year and I think my opinions of that coaster is fairly in-line with yours of DC Rivals. I have it #14 out of 578 credits. So DC Rivals is fairly high on my bucket list.
$30 for the back row is crazy.. last time i went it had gone up from the original price but i think it was $20 which wasn't toooooo bad considering it also kinda functions as a line skip.
Movie World posted a video on instagram on how their 'highly trained ride ops' dealt with the situation when the ride emergency stopped on the lift hill. I commented "are they highly trained enough to run two train operations during late October's fright nights season?" And then they deleted my comment LMAO... Yeah Rivals' operations have been such a let down for me these past years, it's first two years were fantastic though. Leviathan is the better experience these days (imo).
Last time I went to Movie World I had stuff secured in zip-up pockets (i.e. not exactly loose articles) and they wouldn’t let me take it on Superman. That’s how strict the loose article policy is. I get why they do that, safety is important after all, and at least with Superman, nobody is going to steal your loose articles, but it’s still a bit over the top.
My opinion is basically the same as Chris's, but I think Mako and Fury 325 would still be better than any Mack Hyper. I'll have to see when Hyperia comes out this year. I'm definitely taking a trip to the UK.
I’m kinda hoping Hyperia opens the door for Mack hypers in North America and the rest of Europe. That outer bank into barrel roll looks like it could well be the best single element in the world.
They increased it to $30???? I remember paying $15 when it first opened in 2017. Even then, no one really rode it backwards because no one wanted to pay extra but I had to do it. I think I died and came back to life 3 times while riding it backwards, the forces were insane! Also they had a booth specifically for people to buy a backwards pass but I guess it was too much work for the park when hardly anyone wanted to pay extra
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od it was in 2017, I flew all the way from Sydney to Gold Coast just to ride it! At that time, Green Lantern, Wild West Falls and Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster were all closed 😭
As someone who's ridden both this and EGF, you may be like me and prefer GeForce. DC Rivals has a more well rounded layout but the airtime on EGF is virtually unparalleled imo--best coaster for sustained ejector airtime that I've ridden. Drop is much more violent too. That said both coasters are still top 5 for me.
Please go to China and ride Wood Coaster at Knight Valley so it can be on your most underrated coasters list and I can sleep at night knowing it's recognized
@matti5372 Right now, none of the Mack Rides coasters even make my top 50, and the Mack Extreme Spinner is super overrated time traveler that was really forceless. @@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od I'm from Europe so I've only done Ride to Happiness and this is my current no 1, better than Zadra, Kondaa, Kärnan, Untamed, Hyperion and many others. The Lap Bars are also very nice in my opinion, for me there is not a big difference to the modern Intamin restraints, which are my favourite in general
