There have been a few dc rivals reviews recently but yours is by far the most thorough and and best imo. Great work, I can tell the ride means a lot to you and it really makes me want to get on it one day.
EDIT: It has been correctly pointed out that the trains seat 22 passengers, not 24. This is because the backwards car only contains one row, while the other five cars contain two rows. Apologies for the error.
Thanks for also giving me a better undersanding of what the US guys have been feeling for so many years and what we have been missing out on for so long. Coaster enthusiast for 35 years from Canberra who travel just like you.
I've always had a soft spot for Cyclone/Gold Coaster. I like arrow loopers and its the only one we got. I like that wave turn at the start and the helix and the back
Been trying to ride this for several years. Always closed (or valleyed 😂) when I get there lol. I must say though on the ejector air time, Ive rode plenty of USA/canada coasters (el Toro is my #1) but the top hat on superman escape in the rear seat is very much some insane ejector airtime. Hopefully in July when I'm on the Goldy it will be open.
Dc is so great. Hopefully it won't be much longer till we get another Coaster as good as or close to as good as that again. Maybe we'll get a RMC one day. They maybe able dethrone DC as the best Coaster in Aus. I'd highly agree that the turnaround is a highlight of the ride. I try to look up or is it down to the ground each time I hit that element and see the earth flying towards me Hahahaha. I gotta talk about the twist after the turnaround and before the Helix. I reckon that has to be one of. If not the most intense part of the Coaster. Especially in the back. The whip in that part made me Gray out last year when the fright nights event was on. I came too half way through the Helix. And don't worry dude. Get nervous before riding it everytime even though I know it's going to be the best.
This is a very good review, so we’ll done. I think you described the ride very well and I would agree with pretty much everything you said, not that agreeing makes it a good review but I still think it’s possibly the best review that there is on the ride. I rode it at fright nights last year in the backwards back row while it was raining and it was absolutely ridiculous, that drop and the non-inverted loop were so good it was cartoonish. The middle section might be weaker than the start and end but the start and end are so good I don’t mind. As you said, no ride is perfect, but I don’t think it takes away from the ride experience. Again, good review:) It’s also funny, because it broke down after my night ride on it, I was stuck on the break run for 10 minutes and it was testing when I left the park.
It’s a shame they never run 2 trains, but that’s VRTP currently for you. Just to be clear, that’s its theoretical capacity - the maximum the ride is capable of without factoring in park operations on a given day. Thanks for the *respectful* comment! 😊
not to be mean to the ride ops, but i went to the USA last year and the speed most of the ride ops there is just miles ahead of aussie parks, yes i understand the extra safety steps here, but once again the ride ops seem to take forever to start checking trains which is really sad to see compared to the usa
worst part of aussie parks is ride operations. They are ridiculously slow. Doesn't help that they hardly ever run two trains here which decreases throughput significantly

Was talking to the ride operators and they stated that the one side is more intense han the other. The Right seat from memory....

Does this ride run 2 trains? All of the videos I've seen, just one is running with a massive queue.
It was running two trains on my most recent visit, but it does have a nasty habit of running one
