The best and the most demanded topic about SY-300. Nobody shows guitar related details just flaying spaces in every reviews and demos, thanks a lot.

I never used my SY-300 much until I started looking at it like a custom effects pedal design platform. Great video. I do most of what you're doing, but I've never turned off filters, etc. on the OSC! Can't wait to go see if that makes an improvements on my current patches.

Although I am late to view this video, I really appreciate how great you shared for a very clear explanation on the basic operation of creating distort/metal sound, and with that I am very thankful. I will be combining this with the synth in OSC. The other way around, if I feel lazy to manipulate, I will add distortion pedal or onother multi effect pedal in the thru-send option.

hi paul and thanks for the great video. i'm a bit of a technophobe and your calm and slow explanation truly helped me get over my anxiety and started with my new synth. i hope you make some more videos going more in depth with this amazing machine. i'd love to see you demonstrate programming the oscillators. cheers from tel aviv

Hi Paul thank you so much. The way you explained program patches should be on the Boss homepage. Great!!!

Thanks for putting this vid together... I've been wondering if we could make distortion with these for awhile.

Very clear and useful. A daft question - does the unit retain the new patch you've made after it's switched off at the mains?

Paul, is there an instructional video or web page somewhere where I can see how to create a patch that just has effects only, such as a clean guitar patch with just chorus, flange or phaser on it? Cheers! :)

would you say I could also use th sy-300 for DI and reaping purposes. That would justify the thing a little better for me.

Hey Paul. I followed your tutorial here but when I press the On/Off footswitch, there's no sound until I press for On. How can it be set so that when the user preset is in bypass/Off, there is still sound? Thanks....or can anyone else reading this respond?

Hello Paul, nice work! Maybe you can help me... I have a Sy 300 and a Boss FV 500 L pedal. I followed the instructions to set up my BOSS FV500L as an expression pedal, but it does not work. Could you help me please? Thank you very much!!!

Paul, I just got my SY-300 today. I've been going thru the presets. I like some, have to edit some and want to customize some. BUT....this is my main FX unit, so how do i set it up like a regular MFX with say, U01 giving me 3 different "stomp FX" e.g.. Chorus, Chorus + Synth, Synth + Overdrive. Thanks for your response.

Hi Paul?... I know you must be super busy but it would be great if you can respond. I'm frustrated trying to program my BOSS FS-7 to do additional functions with the SY-300. Can you help in any way?

I've also set up distortion by turning off all oscillators and moving the effects in the signal chain

You would have to use something like iRig I would imagine.

I own the sy 300 and I can attest, it is a NIGHTMARE to program. If you noticed in this video, he must have made 30 movements to get where he wanted to be. Then you have ONE patch done. Try that for a multitude of different sounds . . . . you could make it your hobby and still just have crummy sounding patches you'll never really want to use.
