They say that Trout don't live in ugly places. This video proves it! What a great technical stream. Moss covered boulders, fallen trees and a sparkling stream filled with fat Brookies. Great stuff. It sucks that someone swiped your tarp. Can't trust people these days. Nasty dent in your shin too. Not so much wading there as it is rock climbing. Thanks Drew!
Fifty years ago I had a secret brookie stream that looked and fished very much like the one in your video. Thank goodness there are still some pristine places that hold these gems. Thanks for the awesome video!
Love catching river smallies. For years we used to have a "secret" down in Columbia SC. I'm from the Upstate but had friends around Cola and Lexington. We were catching smallies out of the Broad River. Needless to say it's no longer a secret.
@@LooknFishy I hear ya. I went through the bass boat phase for about 10 years myself. Did some small time tournament fishing too. But then I started going back to my roots of wading and bass fishing ponds with the fly rod and hitting the trout streams. My son went the other direction I started him on the lakes in a bass boat. Then he grew up, bought a beach house at Fripp Island and a seaworthy boat and runs out to the Gulf Stream regularly to fish. I did at least teach my grandsons how to cast a fly and catch bream before he ruined them. lol
Love that one Drew! Looking forward to the next video or Part II. I moved to Tenessee back in March and have been fishing the Tellico recently. I suspect that is where the guide will take you next. I had a great day there last week with 12 rainbows netted and 1 lost! It's an amazing fishery and full of beauty!
Loved the video. Are those Brookies wild or had they been stocked previously. Colors looked different than what I’m used to seeing on the wild Brookies in the Park.
They are most likely northern strain brook trout, stream born from previous stockings in the 80's and 70's. They are definitely not Southern App. strain brookies.
If you don't fall on an East TN brookie stream, you weren't there. Thieves are as thick as mosquitoes in the Tellico area. The "pay to camp" areas are safer, but crowded. BTW, those are the fattest brookies I have ever seen in that area....of course, I would like to know exactly where you were, but that's not your MO. 😂 I'll stop by Tellico Outfitters for the info I need, They are the best. Looking forward to the next vid.
Great smallies!!! I have a hell of time with them on my local water getting them to eat a fly. Those brookies were full on pigs!!!!! Looked super hard and remote too, great stuff!! Always like seeing other guys toting around the hardware too!!! That’s crap about the tarp!!! Hopefully it was the forest service and you can get it back..
If you are coming to Tellico to fish, it will be WORTH YOUR TIME to stop at the fly shop and talk to Cody. Great guy and he'll steer you right. Even better, hire him or one of the other guides in the shop. Great video Drew! Thanks for coming to TN!
Trout stamp isn't unreasonable. Guess he's complaining about having to buy a Tellico daily permit if you want to fish the main Tellico for stocked rainbows. People will complain about everything these days.
@@sneakybow1 No complaints. Just facts. Buy a 1 year license in August for 100.00 (out of state - trout - and it’s good until February. Six months. Buyer beware.
@jimsexton9857 good Lord, you're complaining that it isn't good for longer than their standard license season structure? $100 is two meals out these days. People will complain about everything, literally everything.
I was at the same campsite where you camped at the end of the video last week. Nice place. Wild hogs tore up the ground just on the other side of the fire ring.
hello guys nice trout back into backwoods, I my shelf fly fish from the age of 15 I grew up in NJ, , has some nice trout rivers, but I like fishing the smaller stream away from everyone else, wild trout streams, I have caught some 2lb browns in these small streams, NJ has it.. I fish w/ 5' fly rod small streams my orvis reels 3in to 4in. I like Cherokee in June..
Great looking stream & healthy Brookies! Nice video, as usual. The thieves certainly welcomed you to east TN, but that's unfortunately all too common around this part of the state....too many dishonest, ignorant people to leave anything laying around. 🤥
@@LooknFishy gotcha, I mean you know what you are doing. Next Spring/Summer do some smallmouth trips!! I would be happy to guide you on my raft in the mountains of WV.
Dosen't look like idiots got your tarp, might have been the forest service, to many idiots leaving trash around, but then again, who knows. You fellas caught some really nice healthy brookies. Enjoyed watching. 👍
My first thought was maybe the FS picked it up but seems strange considering it was definitely left on purpose...staked out and raised on one end. Asked Cody and Micah and they said it was probably stolen but we also stopped and picked up trash including a grill that was left beside the road away from a camping spot...so ultimately who knows. But unfortunately, those painters poles went from 7 to $18. Gonna start bringing my old dome tent now.
Loved the video. Are those Brookies wild or had they been stocked previously. Colors looked different than what I’m used to seeing on the wild Brookies in the Park.

Great guys at Tellico Outfitters, glad to see you enjoyed the trip!
It was awesome. Got one more video from this trip!
incredible place to fish for brookies! wow !
Yes it was!
Fantastic brook trout. Just a beautiful trout fishing dream! Thank you so much.
It was a great trip..those brookies were a surprise for sure!
Tellico!!! This is awesome! Cody is great!
They are super cool. We have some adventures planned out west also.
Fished here before, great place and the guys down at the shop are awesome!
You’re getting close to my stomping grounds!
Been waiting to see some smallmouth action. My favorite fish. Awesome.
I dig smallmouth too...they were made for fly fishing!
Great video Drew. I cant say enough good things about Cody&Micha and Tellico Outfitters. Like you, they are some fishy dudes.
Couldn't agree more!

I'm glad they are still around also. Super fun to see streams like they were in the past!
Definitely earned those trout!!! Beautiful!!!
Super fly fishing mister! Magic!❤
Thank you very much!
Welcome back to the southeast. Those brookies were awesome. It’s cool to see some smallmouth also. Thanks for the coolest fly videos. Your my hero

Yea I learned about it after I moved from Aiken but at the time I was more into bass boats and fishing Santee Cooper.

Looks like some fun bushwackin. I spent a lot of years Brookie fishing with a little 3wt - brings back great memories. Thanks Drew
Great video. I got my first wild trout in tellico. Im going back in the next few weeks. Maybe I'll catch my first brook trout there.

Stunning setting great video buddy, tight lines 🎣
Nice creek, good to see they still got native trout down there.
These are brook trout, but northern strain, not App. Brook trout.
@CooperJones777 What,s the difference?
What a contrast between the first river (watch your step!) and that cool Brook Trout water!!

any cool streams you can recommend in NJ?
Nike....Brookie Candy. Recommend also Alder Fly. Basically a Coastal Deer Hair Caddis over an olive body. Nice chunkahs...yessuh!

absolute hammer native brookies. Wow!

When you called that sunfish a perch, i knew you were from the south!
June smallmouth in the mountains and not fishing on top? Love that you have a smallmouth video though...tight lines.

What weight rod were you using in tellico?
What size rod were you using? My son and I love to fish in that part of the country
How you get those flyrods into those tight spots...
I've been wondering with all the off the beaten path places you go how many waders do you go through in a year?

Where are the dispersed campsites near Boone?
Hey Drew have you ever fished the hex in the Midwest?
No budlight drew ?? Lol,jk looked like a great dinner , when you gonna come to new Mexico agian ?
What description?
Never mind just caught it from the video
These are not the native strain
Have caught all the usual suspects in saltwater OTF, still get more amped about catching 10" brookies on 6x tippets....
Beautiful area but a little tough going fer an ole fart like me. 😊
Yea I definitely won't be doing this forever!
