    RECLINING 3RD ROW!!!!!!!!
    I love my Tahoe but a reclining 3rd row and a 2nd row that tilts out of the way are pretty cool and practical features.

    André, Roman and Nathan. Many thanks for coming in so early to post for all your early rising subscribers. It’s truly helping to grow the channel.
    FX4 is actually a play on words. Originally Ford had decals and F x 4 badging as well as 4 x 2. Over the years they shortened it and simply made it into a vehicle package identifier - similar to GM’s Z71 package.
    Although I believe that you get a lot more from a Z71 package - such as Eaton locking differential, skid plates, HD shocks, high capacity cooling, air cleaner, all season mats, upgraded trim, wheels and of course four-wheel-drive.
    All the best!

      It would really only be worth it if they put the 6.2L gas or the 6.7L Diesel from the Super Duty in it.
      Personally I'd only buy it with the 6.7L or a 7.3L if Ford ever brings that motor back.

    The Expedition can work well in the export market, partly due to the 3.5l V6 Ecoboost's MPG and it's displacement. Although it would have been nice if they offered the 5.0l V8 at least. Column Shifter and Console mounted Shifter is better than the Dial selector though, and where is the third passsenger seat option, make the thing a 8 seater.

    • @timgermanyjr
      @timgermanyjr 6 лет назад +6

      All Expeditions have a 3rd row. All are standard 8 seaters with an option for 2nd row captains chairs.

    • @diegosilang4823

      It is a mistake to remove the V-8 as option, since the CAFE had been relaxed a bit.

      Steven Pachay oh I dont doubt that its good. Just never heard a single complaint in 5 years from 6ft people sitting in the 3rd row. Imho i think chevy is the worst in this category and as of my knowledge arent fold flat and still require manual removal. But thats old knowledge abd they may have adapted

      Thaenatos yeah if I’m not mistaken gm suvs still don’t fold flat. I use to own a 04 Expedition and absolutely loved it’s ride and comfortably especially the 3rd row for kids and passengers! I like this new body style

      I currenlty have a 2008 XLT 4x4 HD tow and LOVE it! But I need a pickup and to be honest Im looking at a ram 2500 with a 6.4 hemi! I just dont feel like ford offers the same value as ram does. But then again this is a few years away so i have time lol

    • @timgermanyjr
      @timgermanyjr 6 лет назад +3

      GMs fold flat now but at a slight incline. The real problem is that the seat is so low to the floor putting your knees in your chin. I don't understand why they still use a solid axle. Ford has an independent rear suspension which rides better, seats better, and still tows more.

      I think we can all agree it is easier and cheaper to upgrade a older Expedition, Tahoe, Suburban or Excursion than to do the lifting put better All Terrain tires or mud tires on a Brand New Rig that the first time you go off through a ditch removes the air dam, destroys the plastic bumper. Because some city slicker dumb ass thinks they can go down a dirt road with their brand new 4x4 rig at 80 mph just before they total it.

    My cousin has the most badass rig I think I’ve ever seen. He has a 2018 Expedition XLT FX4 he bought 10 months ago with only 13,000 miles (so basically new) and he got a great deal on it. He added a ReadyLift lift kit (3 inch front 2 inch rear), BDS NX 4-corner Gas shocks, 35 inch BFGoodrich All-Terrains, 18 inch Mickey Thompson Backwoods Matte Steel Rims, ARB matte steel roof rack with 4 front facing PIAA LEDs, 2 rear facing PIAA LEDs, 24 inch LED light bar mounted beneath front bumper, PIAA fog bulbs replacing stock fog bulbs, SmittyBuilt Red XL tow hooks front & rear, Cobra SilverPro CB Radio/rear bumper mounted antenna. Wrapped the Expedition in matte black Heavy Duty XLWrap wrapping protected from scratches/scrapes from off roading. Dual 10-inch W6 JL Audio subwoofers added to stock 10-speaker sound system. Probably the most BADASS off-road SUV I’ve seen. Future mods include front steel Winch bumper (when available), rear swing-out steel bumper w/ full size spare & Safari Snorkel Raised Air Intake system.

      Congrats to all those millennials who are obtuse enough to think that replying to this thread stating what they 'own' is a good idea. Those replies are poor life decisions, equally as poor as signing the finance paperwork for a $70k truck. Just because a dealer will let you sign on the line which is dotted, does not mean you can afford it. Financing a 70k truck when you are young is essentially throwing your future nest egg out the window, that was my point. Its fine to get an expedition when your retired, and you can pay cash, because you have saved and invested well, but to finance a 70k truck when you are young is just plain irresponsible.

  • @trials_bike-xu3xf
    @trials_bike-xu3xf 6 лет назад

    I don't necessarily agree or disagree with all those off-road features and the backup assist. Mainly because personally, I like to be in control of the vehicle the whole time (except long highway trips, I will use cruise control) so my truck, the only thing I would like is a locking rear dif, but everything else is all I need. 4x4 high and low, towing package, and that's about it. I don't really want all those hill decent and trailer backup assist stuff but I can understand why they add it, for those who don't enjoy driving. Also the (as I like to call it) hockey puck transmission shifter. I like being able to grab a true shifter whether it's a manual, or automatic, as well as on the steering column or in the center of the vehicle. That's just my opinion though and I personally hope pickup trucks don't switch over to that kind of shifter or at least always keep the option for a true shifter even if the option costs more

    This is a great family vehicle. I love it! And though it's not really a true off-road vehicle it (as well as the Tahoe and Suburban) does just fine in snow, beach, loose dirt or gravel roads, and on flat grassy land. If you enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, or hiking this vehicle will get you there. But don't be unreasonable in your expectations. This vehicle is great, though expensive.

    All of the complaining about having no V8 is coming from uninformed ignorance. The EcoBoost offers more torque far sooner in the RPM band than any currently produced gas V8. So many on here are just freaking Clueless

    • @pryme2013
      @pryme2013 6 лет назад +34

      Chad Kent it's not about the power numbers. It's about ppl not wanting a high strung small displacement engine moving around their 6k pound pig with lots of tech like turbos and intercoolers and all the plumbing that goes along with that. Some prefer a larger displacement traditional V8, which is a very basic low maintenance package to move their truck. Some ppl don't give a damn about pleasing the EPA with gas mileage numbers when buying their new truck.

    • @franz4294
      @franz4294 6 лет назад +5

      What leads you to believe that many people here are clueless about the Ecoboost's torque curve? That's not the issue. If even that were the case, I still would take a 5.0L over it, if it were offered. Really, it seems to be you who's clueless about the issues at hand.

      Chad Kent watch the video of actual mechanics, 5.0 or the turbo 6. Every single mechanic except one chooses the 5.0, why? Reliability, ease of access. Furthermore, these are the new injector style, so buildup occurs on backside of valves, not to mention a lot of oil blows by without a catch. None of this happens with the 5.0. And it has the same power, within a few hp and torque. It’s about reliability and ease. 5.0 is trouble free, and capable of making tons more than this 6cylinder that’s near its max

    I would've thought with the FX4 model they would've offered it more of a sport feel and give it a real shifter not the Maytag Washer Machine dial

    So it wasn't made entirely clear, is it an electronic limited slip rear diff or an actual fully locking (with electronic engagement) differential like you get with Ford F150s? The marketing guy explicitly calls it a "electronic limited slip."

    Not to bad overall, but can’t consider it really much of a Offroad package without slightly more then standard ground clearance, mostly a trim package.

    Didn’t see anywhere on this video that my Corolla couldn’t go, but I also don’t see why anyone would want to take their $63K family vehicle into an off road environment where they would need the FX4 package over the standard 4x4 package.

    Thanks for the video. Not crazy about electronic shifter - harkens back to Jeep's problems with the driver not knowing if vehicle is in park or not; maybe this isn't that and I'm wrong. 2ndly not crazy about the exterior styling - seems like a puffed up Explorer and a bit unwieldy looking - similar issue with Toyota 4 Runner which looks sluggish when off-road.

    personally i dont care for ford, but i do like the sliding 2nd row and reclining 3rd. the course we all already know a front wheel drive whatever could have made through that course so we will just let that be. i really dont get the dial trans selector. how much space were they saving verses the column shifter?? i believe the dial selector didnt last very long in the dodges because it was just stupid.

    Do you know what frees up more console space? A column shifter. Why waste a large prime area with a dial shifter and have that big blank space where a column shifter could go. Its just different to be different not to be better.

    To bad they did not put real All Terrain tires on it. Not those engineers idea of a all terrain tires. A tiny bit of mud and you would be screwed. A set of BFG KO2, General Grabber, Copper Discovery S/T-C are good examples of worthy all terrain tires. They handle light mud and loose or soft soil fairly well.

    Honestly i like the channel and all but you guys need to ditch the ford reps and camera guys at the bottom of the hill stick some gopros on it and give it a good beating. Not creep at 3 mph and talk about stuff. Let the vehicle do the explaining. And the music is annoying. Rant over.

    I own a 98 Nissan Pathfinder that devours this Ford when it comes to offroading. Also my pathy is stock with no lift kits or larger tires, just a good set of all terrains is all it has. I have done some pretty technical and super steep hills with my Nissan no problem. This dirt road they used might as well be paved. Im not shitting on the quality of the Ford but i laugh at todays "Offroad" vehicles. Jeep is still doing a great job even though the new Cherokees are still a bit too low. Happy trails all you offroaders out there! Cheers.

    I'm very disappointed. The FX4 should come with more and better off roading options. Maybe 3-6 more inches of ground clearance, cut that 3rd row seating out and shorten the frame to improve break over angle, rework the bumpers to improve approach and departure angles. The rear locker is a nice touch but there's no other real difference between this and a regular Expedition.

    9.8 is REALLY good for clearance. The breakover looks, um, poor but I gotta admit Im impressed. Sure doesn't look like that much. EDIT: others are reporting 9.1, which seems more realistic. Still a decent overall package. It will be interesting to crunch the numbers for this years best overland vehicle.
