It's not possible to draw a statistically true histogram with given tools in Excel. In order to draw a true histogram in Excel, you'll have to work hard. Here is a clue for you to draw a true histogram in Excel. First, select to columns for your data. Then, use the first column for x values, and the second column for y values. Value entries for these columns are like this (this is for first group, you can do it as this for the other groups): [Group is] 10 - 20 [frequency is] 5 -> firt column values: 10; 10; 20; 20 -> second column values: 0; 5; 5; 0 (this will be the same for following groups, according to the groups' values). Then insert a XY Scatter chart to the sheet and then a series to the chart. Series x values are the first column values and y values are the second column values and then finish entry. Now, your histogram is ready, but you should make some changes on the axes. On the x axis, you should change the Major Grid value according to your group range, and sometimes change axes' crossing point to a proper value. When you finish the changes, you will get a proper, statistically true histogram. If you also want to add frequency polygon to the chart, you can do it in the proper way.
@@lterlemez, Click on that cell. Go to "Number Format" and select "Text". Re-enter your 1-20. You can ignore the error by clicking on the green drop-down menu on the left. Hopefully this works for you or perhaps someone else have a better way to go about ti.
Hi I followed all steps but when I go to Chart Output option and choose an empty cell, it gives me Error message "Input range Contains non - numeric data"
in my bins section, my values always go to ")" I am not understanding why this is happening!! This histogram has to be finished so i can complete my final project for quantitive reasoning course! Please help!!!

When I copy the graph into word, the range changes to 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.
