Happy 30th to Hotel Mario! Your videos covering the Hotel Mario beta have inspired me to check out the game on my own! It was hard to set up though, proper CD-i emulation isn't easy to come across, but in the end I enjoyed quite a bit or what I've played! Both your videos, the game itself and MasterSwordRemix's amazing Hotel Mario medley for the equally wonderful reanimated collab inspired me to make higher quality uploads of the game's soundtrack to enjoy on RUclips. I really never expected to have such a fun time with this little old game!
The biggest criticism with Hotel Mario is not just it’s arcade-like gameplay being a step-down from 1991’s Super Mario World on Super Nintendo, but I recall StutteringCraig once citing 30 coins for an extra life. So what? In the Kirby games, Kirby collected 30 stars, and gets a life (most notably: Kirby 64). What was awesome I think was how you BLESSED the RUclips Poop community with even more source material, even shining light on the lost elements that never made it into the final game! And did you know the game was based on a canceled Atari 5200 game called “Looney Tunes Hotel”? Personally, I’d LOVE to see Dompley do a PC port of the game with all the missing elements!
Hotel Mario was one of the first things I made a RUclips Poop of it's called Motel Mario (It's not really good) But now I'm hosting a RUclips Poop Collab for the Hotel Mario Beta!
I think it's amazing that after so long these even exist, YTP has brought me so much joy over the years so to finally hear it without the incrusted music notes in their voices is pretty incredible as I am so used to hearing them ingrained into the audio, it reminds me of a time where I tracked down samples for a old synthesizer, I managed to find a person that helped in their development in a different country, and I actually lucked out and they still had some of the original samples on a old hard disk, if I saw this at a goodwill I would have lost my mind.
It's a well made game and it came out during a time there was not much to go back to. Remember, Mario first appeared in quite a few single screen arcade games as well, so with that in mind it wasn't too far fetched to see a game in that style. Also a rather wise decision, as the platform (it's more of a format standard than a specific console) is pretty weak, especially when it comes to video memory. A capable Mario platformer would be very hard to achieve on it, Christmas Country would arguably come closest to a Mario-like experience and I honestly much prefer to play Hotel Mario. The Zelda games suffered much more due to more ambitious ideas, though the platformers I find were still very capable games on the system. CD-i lasted for a pretty long time as a format. It was on the consumer market for around 8/9 years and professionally even longer, but again, so not really short lived, though again, it'd be rather unfair to compare it to actual game consoles. It's nice to hear more people giving the game/platform a fair go. Thank you for documenting your findings on the beta. I wouldn't mind having you run into some early material from Mario Takes America next ;)
Happy 30th anniversary Hotel Mario! I really cannot believe that its been this long since it released and honestly its not one of the worst games released! I believe the idea could've been made a little bit better and it would've honestly been quite a decent game, but we atleast got the cutscenes which were one of the first memes on youtube!
nice! i cant believe its 30 years already! i feel like the game gets a lot of slack but in reality, its pretty good for the CDI and much better compared to other games on the system,
It's honestly insane how old this game is now, the way I decided to celebrate was making an edit of the famous Toaster scene. Happy 30th anniversary to Hotel Mario! :)
I've been neck deep in YTPs since I was a wee bab on RUclips. That said, how have I not seen anyone do the Cerveza Cristal gag with it yet lol I probably should re-visit this game sometime. I've played it a few times on my 220, but never really got far. I blame the pointer controllers (only ones I was able to find) I was using at the time, but I have a (slightly) better one now...
Happy Anniversary Hotel Mario, and thanks for your videos about the beta! But be careful! When you pinch Wendy’s pennies, they pinch back! PS: I'm Chilean, and I recommend the blueberry "CERVEZA CRISTAL" xD
I liked it, I only made it to 4.9 i think, I even liked Zeldas Adventure in a weird way. I soldered a new battery in my console too, but this is not one of those games that saves your progress, just the score! Btw does your power brick smell of burning plastic? mine does and I have no idea how to fix it. It is the same model you have but I guess PAL since I'm from the UK.
Do you have any reccomendations for a CDI emulator to play it on? Last time I tried I had a choice between an emulator that only accepted mouse input or retroarch which is a literal nightmare to use. I gave up trying to set up retroarch to play it after over an hour when it still refused to recognize my controller. How hard is it to make a decent standalone CDI emulator?
Happy 30th to Hotel Mario!

Nice of the princess to invite us over to our game's anniversary, ey Luigi?
I hope she made lotsa cake!
@@Ms_FluffySheep Luigi, Look!
@@BoxingbobIt's from Bowser! "Dear pesky plumbers... I brought cupcakes."
@@TheBloodyMatey "The Koopalings and I have taken over the Mushroom Kingdom..."
@@promaster424"The Princess is now a permanent guest at one of my seven koopa hotels, I dare you to find her if you can!"
Again, I can see this being a small but fun arcade game :3
I guess I have more hope for this one than the CD-I Zelda games XD

I played Hotel Mario on CDi-Emu and reached Hotel 5. I also made a small Hotel Mario YTP of my own.

Happy hotel mario
these games have permanently altered my brain chemistry

Hotel Mario as it is, is arguably more important than if Nintendo actually made a good game out of it.
I suppose a fitting name for the game would be Mario's Door-Closing Compulsion.
Feliz aniversário Hotel Mario!

i feel like the game gets a lot of slack but in reality, its pretty good for the CDI and much better compared to other games on the system,
cerveza cristal
CERVEZA CRISTAL!!!
It's now more than old enough to drink! ... Nah, I think it drank before it was born 😅
I’m a day late, but that day also happens to be the Mario Movie’s first anniversary.
Happy 30th anniversary
When wendy's here, it gets back
17 years of watching RUclips Poops and I never realized Hotel Mario has the same Birthday as me.
Happy birthday Pesky Plumbers! 🎉🎉

30 years and no ports or romhacks. Pretty sad but at least it's cherished in the ytp community
Reminder that this is also The Super Mario Bros Movie's anniversary as well

This game’s older than every living dog in the world!
Cool, Happy 30th Anniversary Hotel Mario! ^^
Users would Modify the Cutscenes and make Characters say or do things they never would have normally.
The game was also translated in French, so this game also have a special place in the French RUclips Poop community

I can't believe the kinda cheesy Mario game is 30 years old lol.
30 years of Lotsa Spaghetti and Gay Luigi.
Of course it came out in April
