For anyone who is lazier than this like I am, an unfinished solid core door is what I used. 80” x 28” is 45 bucks at most Lowe’s or Home depot and I just put vinyl wood grain sticker roll on it I’ve had it for 2 years and no bending or anything, it’s solid as a rock! I’ve even changed the color by getting different vinyl sticker rolls
On behalf of myself and my wallet I'd like to truly say thank you! I was about to break and spend a ridiculous amount of money on a desk. All of the other videos were too complicated (probably not for others but I literally have no idea what I'm doing). But now I'll definitely be doing this. Thank you so much! 😭
Thank you for sharing this, I was going to spend on a nice desk until I came across your video, it immediately inspired me to do it myself, thanks to you and hubby and the little one I am very satisfied with my desk.
I love your video! I also work from home, and I’ve been struggling to find a nice long desk but it I’m unable to so your video gave me the necessary knowledge to build it myself. Thank you!
Ty so much. This is exactly what I was looking for. Same style and everything!! For my son's room ....I wanted enough room for him to build Legos and paint Warhammer figures. And I liked all of the same places
I saw this video a while ago i am so glad I did!! THE BEST HOW TO VIDEO!! THANK YOU!!! I actually got the confidence to do this desk! So great full for this!
This is such a great desk I have been searching the internet to make one identical to this. I drew it out but could not find anyone just to follow a DIY. Your desk came out terrific great job guys
Ooooohhhhhh my GOD I just knew I would find the best DIY on a desk thank you thank you this is exactly what I want to make. Like you I searched all of the stores you mentioned couldn't find anything and they were hella expensive for sure. Lol @ you making fun of your husbands feet and aww the baby is so precious thanks again I love the table you two made :)
Awesome, this helped me a lot, I've built plenty of shelves before, never a desk. One extra step you could do, use clamps and wood glue between the boards instead of wood filler, if you have the large wood working clamps. Cheap ones at harbor freight work great. You can also sand the boards super smooth, going in stages, low grit to very high grit sand paper, put your stain and then your polyurethane, the wet sand that and it looks pretty awesome. Wet sanding also will take out any brush strokes.
Omg I love this! I been telling my husband how I wanted a desk like this and no one sold it and boom I found your video oohhh yeaahhh lesss do this lol
It’s so simply done but deff has that rustic farm house look. I love it. I’m moving in a couple days and can’t wait to start my own projects like this. I’m going to make a computer table similar to this and probably an entry table too. Watching your video has given me a great amount of info to not feel overwhelmed going into these projects. Thanks!!
That makes me so happy!! It's definitely simple to do and way cheaper than anything you could buy! Thanks for the comment :) I hope it works out well for you!
What a fantastic video! Thank you! I am making a similar style and size desk but it is going to cost about $1,100. I looked for a desk online also but could not find anything the right size or style. Great work! You guys are inspiring!!!!
So glad I found this vid, been pondering about building a pc desk and this is exactly what I am looking for without overpaying and being able to diy is just making it even better!
I subscribed just for this diy table i was about to spend so much money to buy study table for my boys thank you it looks so easy to do and my first ever comment on a video
how is this holding up? any bowing in the middle? wanting to build something similar for his and her gaming set up, so wondering if I should add a third leg?
I've been looking to make my own desk, I never thought to put individual lengths of wood together! I was looking a full slabs and did you say all three cost $16?? That's crazy cheap. I'm going to check if you linked the legs in the description, if not can you please link as they look perfect. Great video, this will help me build my custone desk.
This is perfect. I’ll be making this for my RUclips studio. And I’ll be sure to let everyone know I got the design from this video. And I’ll link it in the description. Thanks
Great tutorial. I thought when you bought the 3 pieces you were going to start using glue and clamps like in the complicated videos I’ve seen. This is nice, good quality and simple! Thank you
Love this!! I’m starting an art project and I’m looking for a desk space. Screw all these expensive over complicated desks online, I’m making my own! Thanks to you😄 I appreciate all your videos, you’re amazing.
Thank you so much for doing this video, I also searched for hours for a good but easy desk video. Now if I can get them to deliver the wood that would be great since I don't have a car. Thanks for sharing. Carrie
I love love this!! I’ve been on a mission to complete my craft room. I really want an L shape desk but they are pricey for the nice ones. I have a table top and cube shelves from ikea and this definitely gave me the idea to just make my own table top from wood and buy a cubeself to add to what I already have! Since Ikea is closed due to this pandemic. Thank youuuuu for the idea!
Just like many others, you likely just saved me a ton of money, so thank you. Question: I need table to be 80” long (if it’s even possible to find 80”) Do you think it’s possible to build this with the legs flush to the end of wood vs 6” in as this table will go over my 3 laundry carts and those widths together are 79”. I can’t have middle legs due to carts. Thanks again for a great video.
@@LaineyMarieBeauty lol no worries I was just confused. I truly appreciate the video and it gave me great ideas on building my desk which is now complete. Thank you.
Hi @laineymariebeauty , Can you please guide me on the wood you used and sizes, as you mentioned 3 pieces of 2x6 makes it 18" but you mentioned a width of 26". Bit confused. Thanks
Nice table unable to find the legs you used only shows straight leg but it will work looking at using 3 2x10 will give me 30” inches wide 7 ft long I like the plain pine will only clear coat it
hi im planning on using this design in an upcoming eagle scout project. i'm making 15 desks and in order to save money I was wondering if you had a cheaper idea for legs for and idea on how to build some. thanks
Hey, love this desk! But one technicality- you said you put three 2x6" together but the desk came out to be 26" wide. I feel like that math doesn't add up. Wouldn't that be more like 18"? Im only asking bc Im making one to fit my room too!
great video! i've been looking at how to make diy desks since my current one is very wobbly and i've been kinda broke from having to upgrade my equipment for work so this is awesome. i wanted to ask, how long was the overall process for making the table? and when you stained it, how long does 1 coat take to dry? thank you! :)
I stumble upon your video, which inspired me to make my own diy desktop. Just wanted to confirm something. Is the width of your table 18", instead of 26"? You mentioned in the video that you used 3 2"x6" wood.
I am buding a similar desk. 2 questions. How has the wood filler held up over time ? And can you notice a dofference in the stain color where the wood filler is?
It’s held up great! I use it every day. Wood filler has held up like a charm. My only regret is not using a stainable wood filler. I used one that was already colored, so it does stand out a little but not too much!
My only concern is with the weight of a computer and every day use that it will bulge the middle. Did that ever happen or is it holding up pretty well?

Pretty Awesome..and the baby is so cute..
Thank you so much ☺️
Did you stain and seal the bottom as well? You have to do it to prevent uneven moisture movement and eventually bowing, bending or cupping.
WOW - I wanna make this right now!! Such a great video. It turned out beautifully. Thank you for sharing!

RIGHT? Everything these days is made of pressed wood and doesn't last at all. :( I hate it! Better off making your own furniture!

Did you screw any screws to keep the boards together at an adjacent angle?
Awesome!
What size legs did you use? 28in or 35in?
would this be able to hold a monitor mount just fine?
You gaved me good ideal. I can buy 4 legs and turn into the dinning table. We just bought a house. Dinning tables are so expensive.

New here! Does the desk need the support in the middle? How does it actually help support ??
I stumble upon your video, which inspired me to make my own diy desktop. Just wanted to confirm something. Is the width of your table 18", instead of 26"? You mentioned in the video that you used 3 2"x6" wood.
that's exactly i thought too and wasn't sure if i'm missing something. new to woodworking. I guess 18th it is.
I have the same questions. I think she mean 18" deep. I'm looking to build a desk that's at least 24" deep.
My math might be bad but 3 2x6 is 18 wide. I kind of puzzled

did you put the 3 pieces together with wood glue or did you just hold them together with the legs and the support?
Legs :)
