- This video is a step by step tutorial on how to build a simple desk. If you are new to woodworking, this is a very easy “how to” video, that is easy to follow, with precise instructions. Just pause it while you’re building if you just want to follow along. This DIY desk will work great for a small office, or it can be used for homeschooling or “distance learning” with the Corona Virus keeping kids home from school this year. It is a very basic design, and you don’t need complicated tools to build it. I built this desk in about 4 hours and it cost me about $40 to build since I used 2x4s, and cut them up into smaller lumber before starting. This desk can be built very quickly and is a very simple design with very few cuts. Check the materials list below to see what materials I used and what tools I recommended to build this project.

Fantastic video tutorial. Thanks for sharing.👍 958 likes
The desk is simple and with your instructions, very easy to build. The two shelves are a plus. The 1/4" board is a good idea because sometimes the pocket screws end up poking through. Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah, pocket screws can be a pain sometimes
I am fairly new to pocket holes.
Verify the length of your screws to the thickness of your stock. Also, the depth of your pocket hole.. Happy building..
Love this video! It definitely showed me how not hard it is too build a desk. I’m stuck between building a desk to save money and buying one. What is the price range on doing this project?
Great work!
Thanks 😊
No problem!
Does it wobble? are 2x4's better or is it sturdy the way it is? Thanks!! Need one as a computer desk
Badass and simple, good job man!
Thank you!
Thanks! Short, informative, just great
You’re welcome! Thanks for the comment!
@@DIYMAN just built my desk. It worked great
Sweet! That’s awesome!
Simple great easy for beginners
Thanks!
Great Instructions. Just subscribed
Sweet! I appreciate that!
If it was on sale, how much do you think it would cost in your opinion,?
Did you rip the 2x to actual 1inch and 2 inch or did you rip it to the dimensional lumber size if bought them separate?
I ripped them down to the size of dimensional lumber in case someone wanted to make this without doing that 👍
Awesome thank you!
No problem
Nice work
Thanks!
How could I make one for a miter saw with wheels??
Could I make this into a table saw table with wheels?
I’m sure you could with a little ingenuity
What is the overall dimensions of this desk once built??
30” tall by 48” wide by 24” deep

What are the actual dimensions of the 1x2's and the 2x2's if you used 2x4's?
Great question. 1x2s are .75” x 1.5” and 2x2s are 1.5” x 1.5”
@@DIYMAN Thanks!!!
No problem!
Put a sheet of cardboard down on the driveway, the thin stuff, not corrugated, to cut down on sanding later
Thanks for the tip!
Where are the instructions for this? Are we supposed to extract them from the transcript?

You need to start a Instagram page too!
You think it will help?
@@DIYMAN I know a lot of people my age are on Instagram so I think so. That's just my personal opinion.
LOL -- DIY for people new to woodworking. Opening scene of a guy using a $90,000 saw....LOL. I"m out. :)
It's a $500 saw, and if that is the barrier to the hobby, it's not for you yet.
