I'm a designer I buy desks at wholesale prices (my cost) that are more money, not as nice. It's a beautiful piece. Also his time as a carpenter is worth a lot. It's a skill.
@@hopefully2224 I have that skill, and I make stuff, day in, day out seven days a week. That's the reason why I can say I would not pay more than $400 for that piece. Yes the quality is there but thats it. It's just a table top. He bought the legs so...you are saying the table top is worth $1000. Hmmmmm maybe you are in a different market than I am. Perhaps that's the answer.
Making the desk is pretty easy; making a nice one, quickly DOES take some skill and expertise; HOWEVER, the REALLY amazing part of this is finding someone willing to pay $1200 dollars for it!
Someone was willing to pay that for it, and apparently, that's what really counts, not some objectively calculated added value. Keep supporting our current, hegemonic economic system, and this shit will never end.
@@adotsmith Thanks for agreeing with my premise while at the same time, correcting me on the specifics. Yes, that's added value through the additional labor of recording the whole thing under high production standards, including post production editing and whatnot. It's added labor value, there's no way around it, in fact, his addition of labor value with the video, has made me post comments, which in turn makes the algorithm work and make for the channel to reach further.
It’s a nice table for sure. But I’m more impressed that you found someone willing to hand over $1200 for it lol. I guess there really is “one” born every minute 😂

@@Lifecomesfromwithin Not $1,200 worth. Yes I know because I've been doing carpentry since the age of about seven or eight, so almost 30 years now. I cut down my own trees and process my own wood from the 300ish acres set I have that was passed down from my family to me and then I make all sorts of tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, jewelry & boxes. You name it, I make it and I wouldn't ever in a million years charge somebody $1,200 for this even if I could find somebody that is dumb enough to pay that much. I have a moral foundation in which I don't take advantage of people. This guy doesn't.
Actually quite happy you show how long it takes - I always underestimate my wood work projects, by a lot, and I don't really have a frame of reference 😅
Dude I just spent $2k on a used toolbox in BC and I got a pretty stellar deal. Now if I wanted build my own work table, and that's build it my self. That's like $5k and I'm not counting my own labour. But on the other hand my $2k toolbox is a lot more functional than that bullshit joke of a pallet table.
@Garnet Holman you're absolutely right! I've lived in Toronto all my life and you can walk down your neighboring street and your neighbor could be a coke head living in utter filth or they could be someone just moving in to the newly renovated line of town houses that are all 100%identical on a street across from a line of tiny dinky houses that look like tool sheds beside these 3 story mansions. Its Toronto; idk why they seemed surprised theres rich and poor living amongst eachother lol!
$1200 😳 I have a nice oversized custom cherry wood desk that I had a carpenter build me and it only cost $750. It has 4 drawers, enclosed on 3 sides, and the tabletop is 4'×3'. I guess things really are worth whatever someone is willing to pay.
Yeah he could also say he sold it for whatever he wants he doesn't prove the price he got shows text messages that I could easily get someone to fake.... all for a few views that's where he's trying to make money he surely didn't really make that much off that table people are gullible
its just because he is a youtuber, otherwise no one would pay that much for it, it doesn't even look that great, I mean its not bad, but not remotely close to what you can buy with 1200$...
@@glub1381 well you really have to understand the time and effort into creating this. The Hand crafted desk this man has created I guarantee is far more sturdy & rugged compared to any Ikea or other brands out there.
Here's a pro tip for you. Use wire snips to extract nails with no head on them. And staples and stuff. Squeeze hard enough to grab the nail but not too hard to cut the nail. It will work much better than pliers.
Well the type of wood, grain of wood, and it being handmade really helps the value. And as he said, he agreed on $1000 for the desk so it was really only a $1000 desk. It wouldn’t be worth as low as $300 just because of the wood and it being handmade.
@@sappersilver7762 I've got a super nice L-shaped desk that an modern industrial look. I paid $1750 for it. I listed it for sale on craigslist for $350. It was in perfect condition like new. I couldn't even get $200 for it.
someone with a factory mass producing this exact table could cut the build time down 3 hours and sell the table for $300, and then when people come to your house they will say, “oh nice table I saw that at Costco”.
@@BravoTangoAviation your mistake for paying that much then. I don’t know anything about the table that you described, but you didn’t mention the type of wood, or whether it was handmade or not. I got the high rated pallet buster with tilting feet from amazon for $53 and I gotta say... pallet boards are almost always spared from cracking and the teardown process went from like 30 minutes to 3 minutes. Pope Leo XIII declared, “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.” (Source: Pope Leo XIII Encyclical Letter, June 20, 1894) The antichrist sea beast of Revelation points to the office of the papacy, the Popes of Rome, who controlled the Roman beast for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD. Daniel 7:25 says “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” The Popes of Rome spoke against Elohim and proclaimed to be God. They reigned for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD. during which they caused tens of millions of saints to be killed. The Pope’s title is Vicar of Christ, which in Latin is ‘Vicarius Filii Dei’, and equates numerically to the number 666
I'm actually really impressed that this was not clickbait. You legitimately took a pallet made it look beautiful and then turned it into something usable. tip: you need to understand the moisture of the wood. store the raw wood indoors; where it will end up, for weeks or more before working it and keep it indoors during the whole project. get a moisture probe and measure. Reason is that as it dries it will warp and you don't want that. if it is at the moisture level of the environment it will live in while working it will warp less.
Bro it’s a pallet lol it would have been kiln dried and mass milled by teenagers who don’t give a fuck on not much over minimum, then whacked together by a slightly more senior person who also doesn’t care, then had bags of wet mulch on it from what the video said since 2019, where it’s probably spent it’s life between a cold warehouse or outside through the seasons. I think it’s well and truly past keeping indoors for a 2 weeks lol how it is now is how it will be until the world ends my man unless it sinks on a ship

@@ClassicCase you aren't grasping the big picture here. The guy that bought it probably has no woodworking skill OR tools. Can't have one without the other. Tools are expensive and woodworking takes time to learn. He is paying for a custom piece. The laborer is supplying his skill, time, tools, gas etc....the client is supplying a "yes i like that idea" and the agreed money to back it up. That's how a capitalistic system works. If people think someone is charging too much well they don't get paid and the business shuts down, or they make necessary changes to offer things at a more affordable price point.....regardless handmade and bespoke ANYTHING will demand a premium, not just woodworking. Hope that helps
a lot of people are talking about 1200 being too much for this desk and I do agree, but I also want to mention that this is in Canadian dollars, $1200 CAD = roughly $915 USD. just keep that in mind. Edit: also the guy added the 200 extra, so the price morley listed is closer to $750 USD. which in my opinion is quite worth it for a custom desk.

"Desk: a piece of furniture with a flat or sloped surface and typically with drawers, at which one can read, write, or do other work." This comment is just my curiosity regarding craftsmanship, integrity, and value....basically, this is a cutting board with damaged legs, glued together in the hope that it will not expand, contract, or otherwise lose its strength integrity and its being valued at (including the labor) $1,200 (Canadian) or about $935 (USD). Hannibal may have crossed the Alps, but I can't get over this.
Yeah this didn't look like a high end woodworking deserving of the price at all. I guess Things are worth what people will pay for them. But a desk without storage is a.... Table. Plus it was damaged upon delivery. I'd certainly not have sent extra on top for that. And in the end to me it still looks like ratty butcher block wood with some fake gold legs. I see it as being worth less than the time and value put into it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose.

I love pallet wood I have made some really cool pallet wood projects. Hoping to build a tiny home someday I plan on using a ton of reclaimed products. They look nice and they are less expensive! Your desk is awesome!!
This was a fully functional pallet that he took out of commission. If his work is worth $85/hr and he spent like 20hrs pulling nails out of a pallet and prepping the wood, he'd be better off taking one trip to Home Depot to purchase new wood for like $50. This whole thing is a gimmick. Nobody would pay $1200 for a desk like this, unless it also meant they got to look rich and "eco friendly" on RUclips.
Ive actually done this before. When i was 6-7 during my school holiday i went to a carpenter’s house that my dad knew and throughout that holiday i worked on that desk and im still using it to this day. The table top of the desk is make from a recycled pallet

So many negative comments on here. I think you did a great job. I wish I had learned how to do wood working when I was young. It's very creative and I love it.
I'm seeing so many comments saying that the price is too much and that the work/finished product is not enough ... but you took us along the way for the whole project and this video is a record of the whole job. Kind of like on Antiques Road Show, to have the history of an item makes it more valuable. A custom piece made through the collaboration of maker and owner... I for one support the valuation. Nice work Morley! Enjoy that desk MacKenzie! (SP?)
Beautiful work! On cutting through the nail though - I have a story to tell. My father used to build a lot of furniture with reclaimed lumber. He’d put an ad in the paper as a “demolition man”, and offer to take down old barns, fences, etc. for free if he could keep the wood. When I was about 5 years old, he reached a similar point to where you got with one stubborn nail. He decided to persevere, and cut through on his little Makita table saw. He put on his goggles, pushed the board forward, and the nail dislodged itself, and shot straight back at him, puncturing his glasses and his skull at the temple. He proceeded to walk into the house, dazed, and my Mom freaked out. We got him to the ER, and the neurosurgeon there told him he was lucky to be alive. He told him that the only thing the surgeon could do was pull out the nail, and pray that nothing went wrong. He yanked out the nail with some pliers, and my father survived it, though he never recovered his sight properly in that eye. Having seen this, I do not run boards with nails through any table saw. It’s simply not worth it.
Wow! Glad your dad was o.k. I have run some re-claimed boards through the table saw by mistake with pieces of nails I didn't see. Heard a chunk fly out at warp speed, thank goodness...

I have to say, you did a great job on this. The amount of work & construction design is worth every penny. I’ve seen particle board furniture sell for more. This being all solid wood and labor combined, worth it.
Fellow woodworker here, I like using painters tape to surround a gap/crack. Makes for less sanding and less low points when trying sand away little glue blobs. Running a chisel gently down a glue line is super satisfying as well. Hope you didn't get sick when epoxy coating the table in your apartment. It's toxic my guy.
If you get a pallet where all you really want to salvage is the planks (more common with skids) you can use a reciprocating saw with a thin "demo" blade between the planks and beams and cut the nails; removing the wood you want very quickly. If you use a cordless version you can do it on site where you find the pallet and make the entire pallet take up less room in your vehicle. I punch the nails out from the cut side, with a springloaded center punch usually just one or two taps knock them out.
YES! The the absolute best way to do it. I used to struggle with a flat bar and hammer trying to break them down, then, I saw someone doing it the how you mentioned and was blown away. Such a time saver!
This may be one of the best comments I've read all year and I'll definitely come back and let you know if I utilise it in the next couple of months as I'm thinking of going into the reclaim world
This is the best/easiest way if you won't be using the center beams, just the planks. But if you do want to use the center beams, you'll want to use a different method, else you'll have to be very careful with any cutting or planing of them. This guy has a good vid on easy ways to do it. ruclips.net/video/jOXvrHeSLzs/видео.html
@@denverflatpackjedithornton Also, there are the rare pallets with screws instead of nails, get yourself a cordless impact driver and a cordless reciprocating saw and you can blast those pallets apart in minutes, also in my experience comes in handy if you want to say reclaim wood from a furniture piece someone has thrown away you can just take the pieces you want (ie a dining tabletop can be a great source for fairly decent hardwoods)
When you start to think that time is a pleasure rather than an expence you have just created something pleasurable that someone gave you a return that both can be happy with 🤗
Loved this ! I love woodworking and have the fondest memories hanging out in the garage with my dad since a toddler. He taught me everything and then some. The smell of fresh cut wood reminds me of him. Great job !
This world is rapidly passing away and I hope that you repent and take time to change before all out disaster occurs! Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36) if you believed in Messiah you would be following His commands as best as you could. If you are not a follower of Messiah I would highly recommend becoming one. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life - Revelation 3:20. Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13 over the course of 1260+ years. Revelation 17 confirms that the beast is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God. Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc. Have a blessed day!
Did anyone else grimace when he knocked the leg into the wall? I saw it coming too. :( Other then that....seriously, seriously impressed!! I was not expecting that pallet wood to come out looking as good as it did. You did an outstanding job with the tools available to you. That tells me you don't need thousands and thousands of dollars to make a beautiful piece from free pallet wood. You earned a new subscriber. I look forward to more like this. Keep up the great work!
I cringed when he A) Didn't finish sand it along the grain with a sanding block to remove the swirls that orbitals leave, B) When he smacked the packs of varnish mix on the sanded surface which would leave scratches, C) Smacked the finished table down on an solid table top that could have had something on it that would mar the finish.
I knew I wasn’t gonna be onboard when I saw the pallet being picked up in a hatchback. And yes, that is a VERY generous customer. $1200 for a small broken desk that doesn’t even have a drawer. I appreciate the effort but… what a world lol
I recently redid an old dresser and was super happy with the results of it. This inspired me to try out to make some kind of furniture with a pallet thank you!
Great video. Everything well explained and documented. Shows how pallet wood isn't really "free." Love how the slab turned out. Mahalo for sharing! : )
@@matthewmawson3378 Yeah, quite a lot of time just disassembling it due to the nails, and if you don't have a planer refinishing it would take hours. With a planer it just takes minutes to get to the good wood.
I see all the “knothead” respondents claiming the desk isn’t worth the price McKenzie voluntarily paid for it. What McKenzie paid for worked out like this: $200 for materials, $1,000 for the carpenter’s experience of knowing “how” to do something, and more importantly, “why” it mattered. You can only sand a knot so long before you must give up removing the knothead. You can’t fix stupid. Beautiful work, great video, inspiring to say the least. Keep up the fantastic thinking.
showing this again this year to my High School "business and marketing" class. love the desk, but also how you talk through the steps as both woodworking and from a business perspective. I'd love to ask a follow up question for teaching purposes if you happen to see this comment......
@@MorleyKert awesome! I wasn't sure if you'd see this, not to mention reply. I was trying to get them to think a little more deeply about the business aspects. I asked "what kind of business does he have and how does morley make money based on what we saw in the video today?" Obviously they all said "a product business, selling a desk" but... I wanted them to realize that we also saw ads, and with like 3 ad breaks in a video with 6m views you made some $ from youtube, also you had 24 patrons at the time and made some money from that (thanks to your mom!) AND the epoxy company sent you the product for free and you had a link, possibly affiliate link, which would have been another source of income. RUclips is essentially a service business as opposed to a product business since you're providing entertainment. .... does that all check out? I told the class that I have no idea what youtube revenue is for you (cpm?) but it's possible that you made more money on the video/patreon/sponsership than you made on the table .... you don't have to go into detail, but is that a fair guess?
I wouldn't have paid that much for that table but when I see the story of the table it's priceless I guess people need to take old stuff and make amazing things with it good job
@@tallblonde1976 You don't understand industry, supply and demand, or economics. This desk's value cannot exceed even 300 dollars at a public dealer. It will collect dust on display until the price drops. The buyer being generous for the production of the video, but more likely agreed to an excessive amount to help the video's traction online. Otherwise the builder should be ashamed of hustling his friend (or anyone). You can make 3 of these and put a sign out at $1200 in area and nobody stops. Especially in a non affluent area. More desks would also expose how quick, simple, basic, ordinary, and commin the product is, further dropping the value.
@@geronimoventi6914 This isn't a mass produced desk that you buy at a furniture store. It's a custom piece that you can definitely expect to pay that kind of pretty penny for from any quality hired carpenter. They're totally different things.
Lol "the story" nigga what That story better be that it belonged to historian or famous journalist The story is it is from a youtuber who scammed you for some cheap ass wood lmao cheaper to buy online
Thank you so much for counting time spent! It's nice to look at a DIY and know how much time it will actually take, and whether it's worth actually making instead of buying something new.
Thanks for this amazing information !! If you don't find a means of multiplying money, you will wake up one day to realise that the money you thought you had, has finished. Investment is key, I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life
It's great when you meet a customer who not only likes the work of wood but also appreciates the craftsman's work. And that makes it worth $1200 in their eyes.
I never process used wood until I check it with my metal detector. Bought one on line like the TSA use. More than paid for it self, by not junking bandsaw blades or planer blades. I found that pallet makers use wire collated nails and you can easily miss the wire stuck in the board.
I like the time stamps. good to know how much time is spent on a project for anyone who wants to turn woodworking into a business. That said, that desk is NOT worth 1200 dollars. I mean come on man, all you did was glue some slats of scrap wood together with a slight totally basic bevel on it and you installed some standard legs on it. If you are going to make a 1200 dollar desk in the real world you have to do quite a lot more work. For one you should put in some C-channels or install the legs with inserts that can move. The way you did it I can guarantee you that the desk is going to warp with wood movement, especially since you used pallet wood, which isn't kiln dried. It's a decent desk overall but it's more in the 300 dollar range. maybe 4 to 500 including the legs. NOT 1200. Other's have also commented on you not replacing the legs after you broke one. Though the super glue fix is probably fine (the desk will warp before the leg falls off...) it is just a bad business move not to replace them. I am disliking this video because it's just youtube crap.
Exactly , who in their right mind would pay 1200$ for that, if he tried posting it for sale he’d get laughed at. It’s probably because the guy came to him, so it was more like a “custom build” for the customer or something
@@urbanitesgarage3299 still. you can get much nicer custom furniture for 1200 bucks. Maybe not hardwood, except perhaps poplar. But for 1200 dollars you expect a certain quality. For anyone who wants to get into woodworking I can tell you one thing, you do not want the customer to call you back 3 months down the line telling you the tabletop warped. Because that is exactly what is going to happen with this desk as soon as the wood adjusts to the temperature and humidity in the customer's house...
Why is it youtube crap? why are you jealous? A custom desk is exactly worth the price the customer pays for it. That applies to everything. And just like with any "reputable" brand, the maker of said desk is very important. This desk has an actual story behind it, not bought from a random high-end seller. A Gucci shirt has the exact same material as a 20$ plain shirt. Maybe even worse. In the end he was paid 80$/h for his efforts. That's a fair hourly rate that is not even considering all the price of the tools and the space he has to use. A serious woodworker that makes beautiful products shouldn't work for less than that.
@@leolego2 I like how these self absorbed know-it-all trolls feel as if they are not only qualified to judge, but then have the nerve to mention they are disliking the video because it’s not up to their own ‘standards’? 🤣 Which is pathetic since it is totally obvious they are just envious of this guys work (no matter how mediocre it may be), and his ability to find a buyer willing to not only pay him a grand for the thing, but also tip him a few hundred. So he writes a text wall about his disdain for it/him and how he knows better. Just pathetic behavior. So where are HIS videos of such perfection...showing HIS prestigious woodworking craftsmanship that he feels HIS pieces actually warrant that amount? I’m just taking a guess that he has none... Just an overworking mouth. I mean, it seems a bit steep, but he did his best to show the whole process and for that alone, the video is worth a like...imo...🤷🏻♀️ then again, I presumed what I was going to be viewing and don’t feel as tho I am worthy to tear him up since I myself don’t have a similar piece to compare it to. ✌️
I absolutely love your work and the fact that you calculated all the time and identified your labor rate. Too many DIY and creator videos miss this. It’s important to know. One thing you didn’t mention is any equipment or space needed to do your work, so even if a random homeowner wanted to make this themselves it would cost more, and that’s assuming an equal level of skill/know-how. Superb content and work keep it up!
Part of me really loves that there are people out there reusing materials and DIY projects. Its great to be industrious and put thing to better use than just throwing out everything. HOWEVER... Another more realistic part of me is a little disturbed that someone would spend $1200 on such a thing though when you could easily get a basic table to put plants on for like $10 used anywhere. It doesn't say a lot of the intelligence of our society when we are so wasteful in ways like that. It more than offsets any amount of reusing and avoiding wastefulness when we are being wasteful with all our other resources.
Why is it wasteful to buy a table which is 100% recycled? Real wood tables are expensive, and when you take into account the amount of work put in $1000 dollars is not _that_ much. If you've got the money, there's nothing wrong with using it on things you want.
@@lubb213 Congrats, you are the reason we can't have nice things. Along with overworking the two braincells you've got just trying to read my comment. I never said using something recycled was wasteful, I directly mentioned that doing so was good. You could however buy any number of other used tables to recycle them, and as mentioned he is just putting plants on them. This is where the part of the issues comes in, buying a table just to put plants on for $1200 is beyond stupid no matter what its made out of. As to the "wood is expensive". Its only expensive because people like you treat it as some special resource and allow others to rip you off because you have less sense than the average goldfish. Add to that the fact that this wasn't even some fancy hardwood, it was pallet wood, just about the cheapest (not even considering the fact that the pallet was free) wood out there. The glue used literally cost more than the wood. The labor could potentially be considered, but we are still talking about a table made out of the cheapest materials possible and that in and of itself defeats the "its handmade" craftmanship so worth it argument. Its also not some special project, he sanded it down, glued it together, and beveled the edges. It honestly shouldn't have taken him that long to do. And you are still basically making the claim, after material cost, that its over $100/hr labor for a pallet wood table, once again that you could have bought something else to put plants on for (used/recycled) for likely under $50 if not found for free in most major cities. The major problem IS the "its my money I can do whatever I want with it" mentality. You certainly can do just about whatever you want with it, that doesn't mean its smart, responsible, or even remotely reasonable to do so. Its also the reason why we can't accomplish a great deal as a society, because people like yourself (and that guy) are spoiled brats with no sense when it comes to resources or spending, let alone the actually impact of your own actions/mentality. The same types that care more about having shiny toys or showing off to strangers than actually any amount of concern for your fellow humans. You are the reason why we can't create a better world, the excuses and waste you create are how we have dictators, monarchs, and corrupt politicians, all of whom think like you do and get you to stand up for them.
He wasn’t just charging for the materials. He was charging for his time and skills as well. Go try to find a wood table of the size in this video for $10…….You won’t find one. I do this in my spare time and I just sold a garden 3 seat bench with attached table top for £1500. Although all of my stuff is made by hand with no power tools, so people are paying for my time and skills.
Dude, you are mad motivational. The thoroughness you cover and break down is ultra enlightening. I too, like bringing the less-fortunate woods of this world to life. Thank you for putting a pep in my step. I have had literal 'builders' block and this video reminded me of why I devoted so much time to investing in a woodshop. Thank you, man, for real, thank you.
The concept of living in town, looking for a single pallet on Facebook and drive 40 minutes to pick it up racks my brain. Here, you can pick up a dozen by just driving around the industrial estate, unannounced, when going in town to get groceries (granted it's an hour and a half round trip for me as I live out of town)
Honestly Brandon, you can get all those tools for a good price!!!! You Can get a pair of Milwaukee drills for $200, dewalt table saw 350, dewalt chop saw 350….that’s 900….and then the planer is probably a 3-400, ryobi sander 60-80$..….you’d be sittin pretty for a long time my friend! I opened a HD credit card and went and bought all the stuff I needed/wanted and I didn’t know shit about these tools, had to teach myself! I always told myself I couldn’t do this stuff, but I bit the bullet and now I wood work all the time.
Start with a good quality table saw. You can make every different kind of cut with it. Then go to second hand stores or garage sales and pick up tools that ol granddad used once and still good to go. Start smallish projects like making flower planters, dog houses or whatever. Think of making 5 - 10 of whatever you make. By the tenth time you make the same design the project will take 1/10 the time you did for the first piece. Repetition is your best friend. After that project profits can pay for any new tool you want. Easy peasy. Have fun with it.
Just a note that if you use pallet wood, as I do allot, be aware that there are tiny pieces of wire remaining in the nail holes. These pieces of wire connect the nails together to feed the nails through the nail gun that assembles the pallets. These remaining wires will nick and damage the planer blades. I drill out all of my nail holes before I send them through my planers. Blades are not cheap when you damage them frequently. It will also leave raised lines in the planed wood, which of course can be sanded out. Nice table top BTW!
Oh boy, I didn't even think of that. In the end, it's got to be a false economy to work with pallet wood. I've made pallet furniture out of them, but didn't need to take much apart, and the wood was just so dreadful.
Must say very impressed with the table from that pallet and the breakdown of cost, its impressive what people can make with some knowledge and the ability to sell/market stuff (I personally don't have any luck in that department, yet i know people that i could give a table etc too that ive had up for months and be gone in a week doing nothing different lol) Also cost breakdown is where it can then get complicated because if your running it as a business there is other overheads you have to factor into the cost power, equipment, insurance etc and if its a hobby/side hustle ever country and state has different laws retaining to how much you can earn without paying tax on income and also the sale of goods. Keep at it, you seem like a genuine person so good luck with your adventure :)
I don't think it really matters what other people think! Have any of the people here posting negative comments actually worked with wood before? I don't have any carpentry skills, I am a techy. But, I have worked with wood before in various places, and both my father and brother are craftsmen who have built all kinds of things. The guy didn't edit out his mistakes; instead, he showed how to work around them. It was more time-consuming, but he wanted to make something for the buyer he already had. Once you put that together, knots and all. What you actually find is a solid piece of wood that you can connect with. Remember the guy he sold it to was more interested in eco-living. If he had hit the wooden part of the table into that wall, I think it would have been a different story. I doubt anybody would really care much about the legs of the table. If there is a problem, he can just reprint and add the pieces again; he said that to the buyer. Some people get really excited about something like this. It isn't perfect, but the idea that it was once a pallet would be amazing as something has been repurposed. I doubt you would be able to do this with pallets in England, or even Chep, as they are all softwood. You got lucky finding pallets that had hardwood.

I got the high rated pallet buster with tilting feet from amazon for $53 and I gotta say... pallet boards are almost always spared from cracking and the teardown process went from like 30 minutes to 3 minutes. Seriously worth a try. @@jessiejanson1528 Yeah, never too sure about that, either: I got impatient with some Rustoleum enamel spray paint on my bathroom's laundry chute flapper door & frame; there was some rust due to scratches; I did some good sanding work, and feathered it out pretty well, and first coat looked SUPER nice, but then, I noticed an area that didn't get fully coated; but I got impatient, and tried to 2nd coat it too soon, and it ~dissolved the first coat: it got all 'pruney', and started peeling off...so, had to clean off all the soft/loose stuff, let it 'cure' for a couple more days before I could sand it again, and then repaint...

Revelation has been unfolding since Jesus died. The Popes have claimed to be equal to God and set themselves in Jesus' place (antichrist(s)). Vatican City (Which is its own nation BTW) have risen up to fulfill the role of the false prophet
Regarding the man of lawlessness or antichrist, 2 Thessalonians 2:4 says “Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” The restrainer that the Apostle Paul was referring to in 2 Thessalonians was the Western Roman Emperor, who held back the Popes from taking power. Once the last Western Roman Emperor was removed from power in 476 AD, the Pope was given civil and ecclesiastic authority over Rome; healing the deadly head wound of the beast in Revelation 13, as they took the Emperors title of Pontifex Maximus, leader of the church and state.
“We may according to the fullness of our power, dispose of the law and dispense above the law. Those whom the Pope of Rome doth separate, it is not a man that separates them but God. For the Pope holdeth place on earth, not simply of a man but of the true God.” (Source: “Decretals of Gregory IX,” Book 1, chapter 3.)
Pope Pius V blasphemed, “The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.” (Source: Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Cities Petrus Bertanous Chapter XXVII: 218.)
Pope Leo XIII declared, “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.” (Source: Pope Leo XIII Encyclical Letter, June 20, 1894)
The antichrist sea beast of Revelation points to the office of the papacy, the Popes of Rome, who controlled the Roman beast for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD.
The Pope’s title is Vicar of Christ, which in Latin is ‘Vicarius Filii Dei’, and equates numerically to the number 666

tip: you need to understand the moisture of the wood. store the raw wood indoors; where it will end up, for weeks or more before working it and keep it indoors during the whole project. get a moisture probe and measure. Reason is that as it dries it will warp and you don't want that. if it is at the moisture level of the environment it will live in while working it will warp less.
That pallet wood is kiln dried and heat treated it will never absorb moisture again.

Other then that....seriously, seriously impressed!!
Next time put a blanket in your car to protect. Don't leave home without !
carrying it like a beta will do that
Me too!
I thought dude should have been helping him carry it; then boom leg hit and knocked off
I knew I wasn’t gonna be onboard when I saw the pallet being picked up in a hatchback.
How does it show how pallete wood isn’t free? Cuz u have to clean it up?
@@matthewmawson3378 Yeah, quite a lot of time just disassembling it due to the nails, and if you don't have a planer refinishing it would take hours. With a planer it just takes minutes to get to the good wood.
I like that you're so happy with what you're doing there. In a world with all this stuff going on that's not so good it's good to see some happiness

That’s so cool to hear! Ask away.
I agree too but I guess its a custom build.. guess buyer is just rich 99% wouldn't pay 1k for it... nothing less .. smart hustle by him...
Well its solid wood, handmade, really should last forever, so not a bad price.

My thoughts exactly
He is just able to talk the talk to city folk lol. Good for him! I agree with you but good for him.
@@leolego2 I like how these self absorbed know-it-all trolls feel as if they are not only qualified to judge, but then have the nerve to mention they are disliking the video because it’s not up to their own ‘standards’? 🤣
Which is pathetic since it is totally obvious they are just envious of this guys work (no matter how mediocre it may be), and his ability to find a buyer willing to not only pay him a grand for the thing, but also tip him a few hundred.
I mean, it seems a bit steep, but he did his best to show the whole process and for that alone, the video is worth a like...imo...🤷🏻♀️
then again, I presumed what I was going to be viewing and don’t feel as tho I am worthy to tear him up since I myself don’t have a similar piece to compare it to.
Thanks bro for thos knowledge. Dream to DIY someday once have all the tools.
Its wasteful to spend that much money on a sub par table
Its his money. Mind your own business.

Thank you for the kind words!
Supply houses that sell everything for home remodeling literally have hundreds of free pallets
Just commented the very same. Crazy, as basically there found behind pretty much every store / Dumpster these days. For free.
Most skids are soft wood. He picked up a pallet that was hardwood.
I won't lie, as soon as I saw the client, everything fell into place and made much more sense.
All the time you spent upcycling the wood from the pallet was worth it. I wish I had all those wood working tools. Thanks for making this great video.
Honestly Brandon, you can get all those tools for a good price!!!! You
Can get a pair of Milwaukee drills for $200, dewalt table saw 350, dewalt chop saw 350….that’s 900….and then the planer is probably a 3-400, ryobi sander 60-80$..….you’d be sittin pretty for a long time my friend!
@@Farmboy1544 Thanks!
And the chemicals they put on the wood for the pallets...
Oh boy, I didn't even think of that. In the end, it's got to be a false economy to work with pallet wood. I've made pallet furniture out of them, but didn't need to take much apart, and the wood was just so dreadful.
Must say very impressed with the table from that pallet and the breakdown of cost, its impressive what people can make with some knowledge and the ability to sell/market stuff (I personally don't have any luck in that department, yet i know people that i could give a table etc too that ive had up for months and be gone in a week doing nothing different lol)
Also cost breakdown is where it can then get complicated because if your running it as a business there is other overheads you have to factor into the cost power, equipment, insurance etc and if its a hobby/side hustle ever country and state has different laws retaining to how much you can earn without paying tax on income and also the sale of goods.
The table looks great! It is amazing how much great wood ends up in pallets.
The table came out great! We have a few pallets laying around our shop, this series is inspiring us to do the same!
