Thanks Jay. These restoration blogs are one of my favorite parts of your channel. Always a pleasure to see new projects, and progress on old ones.
I agree, and I get the jokes, but I would rather not have the sparks or tools being thrown on the ground.
I watch these videos to see the cars and engines. Great stuff.
Leno could come off the couch today and smash the "Hip" nowaday comedians like Joe Rogan and the other Comedy club wannabes.. Leno in his prime and even now could double over in laughter teenagers too old ladies... a rare breed indeed...
@@TimothyRedburn ....Lighten up, Tim!
they are surely the best out of this channel. Jay is such a great host.
that last engine is a thing of beauty, perfect colors and sound.
Gotta agree with you there Mustie1! Are you thinking of building something in that realm? I enjoyed your video this morning. 👍😎🇺🇸
Mustie1, gotta love the oil cups on that open valve train! Easy to forget how high the maintenance was on early motorcars.
Sounded pretty good once it started, too - although that occasional "clunk" while cranking was a bit unnerving.
PS: And yeah, while I watched Jay start to crank it, I thought: "Will it start?" And that's _your_ fault, Mustie. :-D
If by "last" you mean the previous, that's the big red saloon with the flathead V8 - the '25 Caddy. If you mean the last car with the shiny new water jackets...I'd have to look back at a previous vid, but I thought it was a Benz? I'll look back and edit this when/if I find the brand name.
Edit: It was called "Rabbit 1" and ran at Brooklands. Uses a 1908 Merc chassis and an 18 litre aero engine
ruclips.net/video/w0gPayVLLJk/видео.html
The sound system in the Detroit Electric is hilarious. Jay is such an awesome custodian of these vehicles.
I like how he has slightly modified the Electric so it can basically be used as an every day driver which too is hilarious!
I would make sure that only music pre-1935 would be played on that sound system.
Digitized and cleaned up, Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman wafting from a totally hidden 3000 watts of clean big band sound....hey, it’s not like the amperage will be strained. 😜🥴

@Geo Thomas The paint should be lead, also.
Jay, I'm friends with the son of Elwood Engle chief designer of Chrysler from 61 to 74, Elwood designed the turbine car. I was wondering if you still give interviews, Lloyd (Elwood's oldest son) has some great stories about his dad one of which he threw clay at the designs to tell his staff what he likes and dislikes. Lloyd also told me the his dad brought home some one off cars. Would you be interested in meeting him? Either way I enjoy your videos of Jay Leno's garage. Thanks for sharing
Panama Red was the name of a strain of pot that would have heavy smokers of the day, rarely seen during the day.

Also a name of a song by new riders of the purple sage.
I hope Jay or one of his staffers see this!!! This would be incredible!
@@thomasredder7804
I wrote to Jay about it a couple of years ago but don't know if he ever received the letter. Maybe someone will see this and pass it on to him.
Just responding so this has a better chance of trending ;)
Restoration blogs are my favorite!!! Please make one every month Jay.
or have a sub channel in JAY LENO"S GARAGE, like Jay's GARAGE GUYZ Guide doing the back story on the resto's and the tracking down and finding cars, and even the contacts too of the stories behind the people giving up their rides to him.luved the one of the vintage Hornet and old lady who saw it done........................
These are my favorite, too. That Detroit Electric is very neat. Hope to see the test drive sometime soon.
Jayyyy
"I will save the 4 speed for the next guy if he wants it"
@Chuck Finley he is a custodian , one day he will sadly die and his cars are going to belong to someone else
@Chuck Finley , I'm sure what Jay means, is after he's gone.
Agreed. Like that MG
@Toob247 Toob247 so happy to hear that, one day i will visit it
But Jay says he never sells anything.
I love these videos, it feels like he’s personally talking to you and showing you around!
Jay has been talking to people for a long, long time.
He's got it down pretty good.
I know I'm not the only one that talks back to him when he says, "Do you remember when we looked at..."
Respect to you Jay for recognising the WW2 vets good luck with the MG
I love the shade Jay throws at the “we made this in a week” car shows.
I swear Jay deserves a Nobel prize for keeping all these wonderful and historic machines working and rolling. And the craftsmen he has in his show really know what they are doing.
The engine in that last car is a work of art. And what a unique sound.
That last car bursting into life would bring a tear to your eye, beautiful music!
Not to me. Some severely raised eyebrows, and I wouldn't be willing to repeat what I yelled at the screen in polite company though...
The Blogs will never be the same without a stop by Water Jacket Jimmy's station and seeing him tinkering with those water jackets.
Fully agreed. Jimmy made an awesome job on those copper jackets. I'm not that patient anymore. Jimmy's an artist.
I love you Jay thank you for taking care of these beautiful works of art. I'll never be able to afford a single one of your cars but I'm happy to know my children will get to see your cars someday.
Only on your show can you see these incredible restoration projects.
One of two cars like it in the world, and he has no issue letting kids jump on it. Got to love Jay's attitude.
Love these blogs. I have a 3D printer and started sand casting all my own “unobtainium” parts myself. Technology is great. I also build my own Li-Ion battery banks, power control boards, and cell balancers...working on a 90’s XJS now that I converted to full electric power ( yes I kept the V12 and I’m having it built for another cool project).
Still blown away that Konigsegg is doing 800V power plants. Keeps the current low for thinner wires and saves a bunch of weight.
During the Pontiac vid you here him say, “I’ll keep it for the next guy,” which shows you he understands he just a caretaker for the wealth of history in his possession now. I’d so love to intern at that shop and help keep the craft of car building alive.
"Gangster car" with an Insurance company logo, makes perfect sense to me.
Well I know I for one always feel I've been robbed by my insurance company.
Legal extortion companies
Only two left in the world and he says he just wants to drive it, take it to shows and let kids crawl over it. What a guy.
That is what i really about jay and his attitude towards his collections. they were built to drive so he drives and enjoys them. Like he's mentioned if ya break ya fix it. Also helps he has pretty deep pockets also
Okay. I saw sparks I believe it now. REAL car show. :D
That was awesome. Maximum sparking!
but.no animals, words like DUDE, it's LEGIT, and OEM flung around, more of a sedate and fatherly approach to the car explanations ........
hehe ,all down votes are from velocity channel editors and producer's ............
I loved the fact that he was making fun of all the "car shows" on TV now by doing that.
@@TugIronChief And pity his poor ears.
Thank you for preserving some of the most iconic , and beautiful pieces of mechanical history !!!!!! Well done Sir !!!!!!!!!!!!
There is no other like Jay, this is the type of episode I appreciate the most. Thank you Mr. Leno, may you live long and bless us with videos like this for years and years.
Jay your Awesome, I've watched hundreds of your video's, your knowledge is astounding , your a national treasure , Love u man
Thanks for the tour, good decision on restoring the Firebird correctly. Looking forward seeing it back together in it's glory again.
Jimmy is a genius. A master craftsman for sure.
I LOVE JAY LENO. I really do. He stands for everything I respect. WE owe Jay a great debt of gratitude for sharing his passion with us and the world. He's done more for the hobby we all enjoy than any 1,000 or even 10,000 of us viewers combined. He's the real deal, and I wish some of his contemporaries understood what a contribution he's making for mankind... God Bless Jay Leno.
Jay, we love you. There's no where else, literally nowhere else we can see these historic masterpieces come back to life, and learn their history. Please, never stop doing these. Please make sure they can continue after your time watching after these cars.
Thanks Jay for all the years you put us to bed with the Tonight Show and now take time to post all the great Leno's Garage videos. You sir are a dying breed.
My uncle bought a new Firebird in ‘68 and had the car 18 years. It was the base straight 6 cyl 4.1 OHC engine, no power brakes, no A/C, AM only radio. Hardtop same color but black interior. I think he said it was about $2800 new. The key for the ignition was in the dashboard, a button for the brights was on the floor, hubcaps had red centers, the steering wheel was black with the firebird logo in the center, and the spare tire had a black & white plaid cover. By the 80’s, younger mechanics at the gas station couldn’t believe all the empty space they saw in the engine compartment. I always liked the look of it. Reminds me of my late uncle, & it was great to see the car!
I've been watching Jay ever since he took over Mr Carson's show, it made me smile when he talking about a super rare car, said let kids jump on it , that shows just how genuinely humble he is I wish when I was a kid at random car shows with my dad I could've met someone like Mr. Leno bc it would have been awesome to sit in some of those cars ,instead of standing with my hands behind my back in awe . Thank you Jay for your greatness.
Jay, I love your passion for the "old car hobby"! You understand that some of these cars have souls...
I love how Jay makes each car his own with out F-ing them up!
I've done a little restoration of my own (a 1958 1/4" scale model, in brass and high pressure Zamak castings, of a turn of the century steam locomotive), though nothing to compare with what Jay and his mechanical wizards do on a regular basis. I'm sure many of Jay's fans appreciate the craftsmanship that goes on in this shop. Very satisfying, even to watch. Stay safe, everybody.
OMG! You gotta love Sunday's. Because it comes with a new Jay video!
NO....Here we love Monday's (Jay's videos comes monday morning in Sweden)
I enjoy these Resto Blogs more than the others.
Yeah, I just wish they were longer.
Man, hearing Rabbit 1 start was a thing of beauty. Can't wait to see it get on the road! I love how since it's still being worked on he had to use a string. For some reason that just makes it even cooler. I can just picture it as something like that way back when, sitting on a racing line in the desert or the salt flats amongst other aero-engined edwardian style racing cars, guy in a leather jacket with racing goggles and a flat-cap, starting it up using a string like that.
Jay, I used to really enjoy your comedy on TV, but I enjoy your automotive and motorcycle restoration work much more. Thank you for saving these old cars for today, and the future generations to come.
made me smile when the car started, not an easy thing to make me smile. Thanks Jay!
It's nice to see Jay looking over his cars in addition to showing them off. Anyone else think that Jay is pulling a Dr. Frankenstein moment everytime his cars are finally restored saying "its alive!!" Lol.
Gotta be one of the best utube sites there is .
Living in Britain we didn't grow up watching Jay on tv , except for his garage show , which is on one of our channels.
He seems really down to earth, a decent guy .
It's great that he doesn't just wrap them up & leave the cars un-driven , like so many rich people do.
Jay isn't just a great America. But here in Canada we love the guy. His last scene smiling and that beautiful monster engine working, was an eye tearing moment for us car guys.
Excellent. I love your updates. Your character in Last Man Standing is very funny.
Thanks Jay. When that engine turned over it was the best episode ever for me!!!!
Kinetic jewelry !!! 😳 Raising that hood will cause involuntary gasps. Beautiful !!
For some reason, the car that literally started all of this for you keeps popping into my head. The ‘55(?) Buick that brought you to California in ‘72(?) You said you bought it because it was big enough to sleep (live) in for awhile when you got there because you only had $300 in your pocket. It sat out back neglected for a few decades but finally got the restomod it deserved. When it was done you told us all about the (Corvette?) suspension and drivetrain😳, the trick Steel wheels that made the low profile tires look like original high wall rubber 😳.
And all the interior and exterior looking original. I was just blown away. I fell in love with that sneaky boat. I wish you would feature it again in an episode of this show. It deserves revisiting. In fact I believe it deserves a place of honor right inside your door. Please bring it back on the show. 🙏
JAY, THAT OLD RADIO IN THE ELECTRIC CAR IS SO AWESOME! WHAT A GREA IDEA, GOOD JOB
LOVE THAT OLD PHONEBOOTH ON WHEELS, TOTALLY A TRIP, CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT FINISHED.
Jay. Wow. Your crew are just amazing mechanics for sure. Thank you so much for sharing your passion of these old hepes. Everything that comes out of your shop is just top notch for sure..
Jay, what a wonderful passion!! Appreciate your devotion to old masterpieces.
I love the six cylinder Firebird, and I'm glad it's being properly restored, by reinstalling the original six cylinder engine, rather than installing a V8 engine. Perhaps the only upgrade I'd make to the Firebird is install gauges where there were once warning "idiot" lights.
Not like it was just any 6 cylinder Firebird. That one is incredibly rare and worth more than about any V8 1st Gen Pontiac Fbody.
@@berrytharp1334 Indeed. I've always loved the 1st gen Firebird, probably more than the Camaro.
WOW! I LOVE your restoration blogs!!! Sooo much fun to see how your projects are coming along and remembering how much I always enjoyed 'working' on my own cars and restoring cars! Luckily, I was born in the 40's, sooo I too lived thru the 'car years' and still enjoy seeing and hearing old cars run as they used to! So sorry the kids of today are missing out on all the fun we had, but I'm sure they must feel the same with their current interests... THANKS for sharing with us all you do and love that you enjoy old cars too! Keep up the GREAT work as lot's of us old 'foggies' still enjoy remember when we actually could work on our cars!!!
ALWAYS so happy when you post a new restorative blog! Thank you Jay, I live a secret life of automotive adventure through them! 😊
Igor! Throw the switch! It lives.....it is alive!!!
RUclips video: Frankenstein "It's Alive" Scene
Jay, You brought me back with that OHC6 Firebird. I rode to a summer seminar at the GM training center in Dedham, MA every day in the summer of 73 in one of those. The Pontiac was owned by a veteran returning from service in Viet Nam.
The veterans got (and deserved) most of the seats in class. But I wiggled in because my dad worked at the big Cadillac Olds store in Boston.
That guy absolutely flogged the Firebird. It had the upgraded Sprint setup with the Rochester 4 barrel. I had never felt high rpms before. I really thought he'd break it, but it always ran fine...with high school kid me scared-to-death in the back.
What a great car. You will enjoy running it when it's done, guaranteed.
The story behind the 1938 MG is wonderful. I inherited my great grandads 1936 MG TA that has sat in the shed for 40 years. It actually runs, drives and is very original so I have the goal to preserve it and actually drive it around in the odd location when I pass my driving test. good thing about been in the UK is parts are easy to find and it was put away properly so minimal rust and rot.
Hope you get well soon Jay and thank you for you care for the history and stories of all your cars..
Jimmy has finally finished the water jackets 😂😂
Somewhere out there in the immensity of the universe there is a car hosting a show on the Internet where it drives 300 different Jay Leno’s
I can't wait to watch that rick and morty episode!
Best laugh I've had all day, well done, well done.
That’s frightening lmao
snmthecloser How high are you?
I'm too high for this comment lol
Jay’s a national treasure! I loved his work as a host and entertainer, but this work of loving stewardship of these marvelous old cars will be his legacy.
Jay, I watch your channel with my 4YO daughter before daycare in the mornings along with old-school loony toons. I wanted to take time to say Thank you publicly for bringing such great machines and topics to us all and for doing so with such an outstanding persona.
God Bless Jay! Been watching these videos since tough days in high school now about to get my Associates. Keep it going man, haven't missed a single video!
Thanks Jay, I really enjoy the RestorationBlog episodes! He really knows how to make them sparks fly,..... eh, boyz.
So the kids can jump on it. Nobody Does that Jay!
That just shows what kind of man you truly are. Thinking of the kids. Kids want to climb all over those things even I did as a kid. Pretend we're driving and everything. Kudos to you Mr. Leno
That Daimler-engined roadster/racecar has been a labor of love. Awesome to see things like that lovingly brought back to life. Can't wait to see it on the road.
Thank you for your service to the car community! I’ve learned quite a bit from this channel
Yea I've learned a lot too.
Love the restoration blogs. Please keep 'em coming.
I love how even though jay is larger then life he never forgets to stop and shed light on the businesses that helped him accomplish his builds. For these companies it's probably a highlight of the year to be mentioned by the legend himself.
Is there any man that means more to the car hobby? I think not. I would sweep the floors for no pay just to see the beautiful cars and Jay's passion for them. thanks for saving them Jay, many others would not or cannot, hats off to you.
Love the restoration blogs! Really wish we got more of them.
Maybe once a month? Please. Thank you. 😎
Detroit Electric! Been watching for that one! The Leaf prismatic pack seems a little lackluster though. So much better batteries available at reasonable prices. Oh, my hometown in Florence Alabama has a legendary plating company. Graves Plating. Been around for a minute too. Thanks Jay & crew!
The humor in this video makes me smile. You have to have a guy making sparks. Every time I buy a new car Bernard throws his tools. I love that you went for THOSE jokes.
I always enjoy the restoration blogs, and seeing the Sparks Fly from the guys working in the shop is just the thing. But what you miss is the guys in the shop arguing with one another and worried about how we're going to get this done by the end of the week LOL. After 45 years in the auto service business I really enjoy watching the videos. Keep them coming Jay
Hey Jay ! Glad to see your auto projects being fully restored to new ! Watch your speed Now Have Fun !
I have to say Jay is one of my favorite youtubers!! So cool and down to earth and has such an appreciation for these time capsules. Theres no one better to look after these.
Jay must wake with a smile on his face every day.
Any problems, Bernard will solve them.
A great whizz around his garage / museum / man cave. It's like ASMR to me - dozing off then always get woken up with a start with the car horn at the very end! Happens every time! 😴
You never cease to amaze!
You're the man Jay Leno and an inspiration to gear heads everywhere.
Seeing and hearing that last car start up made me smile. Thank you Jay!
I remember Jimmy showing the old water jackets for those Mercedes cylinders. Wasn't much left. Nice work, Jimmy. The rest of the blog was fascinating, as always. Well done, Jay.
Nice, Jay! I like that you are starting to throw in some minor gags. Very funny stuff. Adds some good humor to the update vlog. Keep up the good work ... and keep the gags in there and keep them coming.
Love these Jay but left us wanting more! Dropping the wrenches was classic!
Nice that someone cares enough for old cars to restore for us all to see and remember the past car history, thanks Jay.
That St.Claire is just fascinating auto. That engine is really advanced for 1919 ! Ive only seen one St.Caire in my 54 years and it was a 4 door six, I cant wait to see the video of that one on the road. Wills St.Claire was a auto genius IMO.
Thanks Jay. You're awesome! Keep the blogs coming.
add a second channel blog of goingin searchof these cars and their parts
Almost time for the 'garage' to become a 'museum'.
Or, temple? 😀
Thanks Jay...its so fascinating.... looking at all your collections......you are really blessed man.
A car that is one of only two left and he wants to leave it as a driver so people can touch it. That is something I can certainly respect. Great work Jay, I love these blogs keep them coming.
LOVE THESE VIDEOS!!
Thank you!
If only these could be weekly haha, no sleep until the job is done! ^^
awesome, the restoration blogs and seeing Jay's own cars are my favourite episodes
Jay is a true car guy and they do Class "A" work in his shop", what talent! Nice to see his projects starting, moving forward, and being completed.
Thanks Jay, I could put the motor in a loop video then just listen and watch the valvetrain....awesome can't wait for the test drive!
Congratulations it runs, I can hardly wait for the road test.
His work is on another level
Thank you jay . I don't need to be enthused to love cars thanks to my dad , but you are a constant inspiration to us all . Wonderful passion and knowledge , we are in your debt you wonderful man
That motor is a work of art....and the sound... Thank you Jay for saving and sharing these wonderful machines.
I really like these restoration blogs myself. Damned interesting.
Jay Leno Living it up
I love the string operated compression release at the end of the video. Thanks Jay for keeping it all real- you and your crew are the best!!
Oh boy, rev up your restorations. Love these Sunday Night at the Movies with Jay.📽
I'd like to see an entire season dedicated to all of Jays cars...
I don't think there are enough weeks in the year.
"I've got a friend who collects Spitfires...."
My friend's dad owned an original Wills Saint Claire touring car with the original paint. His father showed me the car and it was the only one I had ever seen or heard of at the time, back in the late 80's. He was a local eye doctor, and drove the car on a regular basis. Looked like a well made, high quality car.
The "38 MG is a great story! The English were literally fighting for their lives, and because that young man gave his life, surely many others lived! I can't think of a better way to honor that young mans sacrafice than to restore the car to original condition. GOOD ON YOU JAY!
Restoration blogs are my favorite episodes
Thank you Jay God bless you my friend I appreciate everything you do I’ve learned so much watching your show
