Had a lot these toys and the Starmac was the centerpiece of my collection
I was lucky enough to own this toy as a kid and I absolutely loved it! Seeing this video reminded me of all of the awesome functions it had! I only wish I would have held on to it as I was only 7 or 8 years old when it was brand new…many years have passed since! 😅
I had these as well! And my Mum is a saver and kept them ❤
Great memories!
This takes me back. Wishing i had bought these when I was a kid.
Yes, I had a Starmax bomber but it turns yellow, so i bought this one from the US to compensate...
This was by far my favourite toy growing up, just showing my son 😅
I got this for Christmas when I was a kid with the Starwolf. I had never heard of Starcom before and didn't even know there was a cartoon. It was a great toy and I loved discovering all the little features. I even enjoyed spending Christmas morning putting all the stickers on the ships and making sure I stuck them on in the right places and that they lined up perfectly
This is just FANTASTIC!!!!!! ❤❤❤
I learnt about Starcom's existence about 6 months ago. It is such a great shame that this IP got so overlooked in North America back in '87 and '88, and that Coleco had to go into administration. 😞
I was born in 1983 and I really wanted this big shuttle. Unfortunately, it was very expensive at the time and I didn't get it because of that. Even when I see this video, this heart's desire comes again. The child is still inside me.
I share the same experience! My uncle gave me the first one when I was young, but it has turned yellow over time and the mechanism no longer functions. However, a few years ago, I purchased a second one, which is the one displayed in this video.
I have this before when I was young! This is lots of fun! I keep thinking of this but I don’t remember its name! And now I finally find it on RUclips! Thanks a lot! I only remember it as white space jet before 😅😅
Still own the starmax bomber and star wolf, and the power deploy still working till today ! Great toy!
My favorite toy line *ever*!! The size of the figures were perfect to me When I compared them to other lines. The pod design of the vehicles and how they fit in each other was the coolest thing as a kid. I would not put too many toys in front of Legos as my fave. Starcom, Robotech, Legos, Robolinks, GI joe, and Star wars Diecast micro were all my top played toys.
I distinctly remember creating scenarios where my character in the battle crane was forced to defend himself with the tiny mounted mgs and had to retreat to the battle vehicles. No other play system had these "support role" vehicles that inspired my imagination.
I had nearly all of the Starcom & Centurions range of Toys!
Happy Days!😁👍
Wow!!! You should have videos showing all of your collection!!
Still got mine. Great Video and comparison. Great Music. One of the Best Toys pf the 80s in my opinion.
Couldn't agree more!
The Starcom toys were / are amazing! Thank you for a well-done video. 😄👍
Thanks for watching the video! Much appreciated!
I had this small white plane. We never had such a quality in a toyline nor before or later
I agree! The quality is the best compared to 80s toys and even today!
I still have some of these guys on my fridge today haha
And the show worked to me space force is finally at least heading in the direction of Star Com I've wanted to be a StarCom Aviator ever since.
I still have a whole tub of these. Shadow bat, that starmax bomber, the US space base, the tank with the flip lid etc. But I have maybe one figurine and no little accessories and they are in poor to moderate quality now. Such great toys.
I had a few, perfect scale and the magnets were so innovative!
Yes they are!
I loved these toys especially the main ship cargo hatch would come out.
I still have this in the attic at my mums house. As well as a few others. Great toys.
I felt those feelings
I still have mine some features don't work properly anymore but loved it as kid
i had that little airplane you always wanted back then , the magnets always impressed me alot
She’s a beauty! I always wanted one of these when I was a kid.
I loved the central crew compartment where the bombardier sat, dont know why, it just seemed super cool to me with the lifting compartment lid, seating & control units
Yes, I do too! It is like a control console, and I love compartment in planes that you can add figures inside. I designed my Lego Batmobile with a compartment too. I don't know why I love these kinds of things in vehicles and space ship... Feel free to check it out!
I loved Starcom! I still have some of the vehicles and figures in storage
I didn't have the bomber. But I had that truck you folded up and put in the cargo bay. StarCom toys impressed me even as a kid because they had so many motorised gimmicks, but didn't require batteries. Not needing batteries was a great feature in the 80s.
It is such a pity that the star-com series bombed the way it did. I remember this show very well, and if you were to ask me, it would definitely be one of those cartoons that deserves a modern day reboot (especially we now really do have a space force, well, at least the U.S. Does). Don't really remember the toys, but they sure did look cool, and would've loved to have them back then.
I had the little roller as a kid- probably picked it up from a yard sale or thrift store at some point. I absolutely loved it and had no idea it had cross-compatibility with the bomber :D ! Really elegant how perfectly it nestles into that rear bay :)
Yes, absolutely amazing design, can't find similar toy design these days!
The toys that you review I just can play my neighbor own one. It's really expensive here during that day it cost rm199.00 but today the function one it will be times 10 almost rm2000.
The top magnet is used for Starcom Starwolf attachment.
I hade this in 90es
I didn't have this one but I did have the Shadowbat and 3 or so other Starcom toys. I was a very young child when this was released, pre-school age (I was born in 84). Looking back, I wish I had more of this stuff and fewer other action figure lines that ended up getting thrown away. Somewhere in on of my parent's garage is a bin full of my old Starcom and Sky Commanders toys. There was something about the quality of these toys that made me never want to get rid of them.
This was a line that I feel was painfully under rated. I think if it continued to the 90s it could have been something really amazing. As a kid, for the figurine style toys I had Ghostbusters, GI Joe, Sky Commanders, Ninja Turtles, Jurassic Park, X-Men, Star Wars, Starcom, and then a few oddities from other lines. Without a doubt... Starcom was the best of them all. What is crazy is that they were by far the most 'mature' type since they had so much engineering with them and less 'wacky' figures and yet I was playing with them at a much younger age than all of those other toys. I would honestly say as far as toys go, these would be 2nd greatest of all time, with first being Lego.
This whole Toy platform with other IP could have also been amazing. The magnet feet was just amazingly cool and worked so much better than the occasional figure stud. Starcom scale with the magnet locking would have been awesome with something like Ninja Turtles.
I also have the Shadowbat too, but haven't got a chance to review it yet. Many thanks for sharing your young experience with Starcom!
The toy designs are from actual NASA engineers working as consultants. Thats why it was so advanced in its concept.
Oic! thanks for the info!
a cool and detailed cartoon and the best mechanical toy line, bery underated back then:(
time for a 3rd party to use a 3rd printer to re-energize the memorabilia, redo the veichles and redesign the characters with better articulation. I am open to a go fund me on that project.
I had a starmax. Was the first time i asked for something i wanted, because we were broke
You've got to scream
"Power Deploy" to make it work not keep hitting it
I have one of the space Marines a sgt I believe for the laser Rat or Harv 7
I had everything shown here. All destroyed by sociopath sibling.
Oh....
How can the motor be fixed?
I tried it before, I bought a cheap toy that have the winding motor, and dissemble the plane and fit that in.
No batteries needed!🧐
I think the Starcom cartoon series was way too advance of its time. Just for tv series but almost like a movie.
Even the Transformers cartoon did not have the details like in Starcom.
The toys that you review I just can play my neighbor own one. It's really expensive here during that day it cost rm199.00 but today the function one it will be times 10 almost rm2000.
