    Starcom toys are, in my opinion, the best designed toys in history.

    • @tbonbrad
      @tbonbrad 6 лет назад +1

      BitVyper Strong contenders, I will admit. I'm a TF guy through and through but I have a feeling I'm on the losing side of the debate. They're certainly the most conceptually realized toy line. A begrudging but non-resentful like from me.

    • @BitVyper
      @BitVyper 4 года назад +2

      @@tbonbrad TFs encompass a lot of toylines. The best ones are really high quality and made for collectors, and I have a hard time counting them as toys (though they're certainly fantastic). For the ones that are meant to be played they can be all over the chart quality-wise, but the good ones are great (the bad ones should reward you with three wishes when you figure out how to transform them). I certainly can't disagree that there's a lot of really good TF figures. Starcom's whole line is all really unified and every piece works with all the other pieces rather than being individual figures. They all unfold and do their things really easily, and the magnets were a brilliant feature.

      @@G1Hexatron Thankyou for taking me back. I waited for you to press the button and open the cargo bay. And you did! That sound man... so many muscle-memories from pressing buttons, detachable items, flipping cannons. Must have been more than 30 years I had those ships. Ohh man!

    The Shadow Parasite did come with a pilot. I know because it was the only Starcom toy I ever had, and I still have it. The guy you had in the pilot seat of the Shadow Bat is Lt. Magg, the pilot of the Shadow Parasite.

    I got my shadowbat with 2 parasites, a bunch of figures and shadow invader. I think it was called the shadow force action set. It also had a lot more stickers than other ones I see online.

    My grandparents in England had these so when I'd visit I'd always get them out, they had a bunch of Starcom stuff. Really loved it and saw an anime of it once, never really knew what they were and never saw them again.. until about 25 years later with this video! Thanks dude :)

    I had the Shadowbat as a kid and 2x of the Battle Crane's, had so much fun with them they were one of my favorite toys as the battle transformations were very fun. Never had any of the Parasite ships as they didnt come with it, had i known about them at the time i would have wanted them too.

    I remember playing with these in the early 90's. Loved playing with the magnets and 'wind up' action. I later based many of my LEGO starships on this docking triangle aesthetic without realizing its source, and even later it inspired my DAFF-Ender ships that I designed in AutoCAD 2001 in high school. I think we also had the Shadow Bandit (the flying one you hold with a handle and has a magnet to grab things below) and the little car that you have inside the Bat there.

  • @markotark

    We had these toys here in Finland in the 80's along with the animated show that was on some international channel that didn't even have subtitles. It was shows like this and Transformers where i learned my english before they started teaching it on the 5th grade. I still have one of those small triangle ships somewhere and it was one of my favourite toys along with the evil womans purple car from M.A.S.K. that turned into a flying machine.
    But i can still remember how longingly i looked at the large white spaceship of the good guys from Starcom when my mother said it was too expensive and that shed only buy me one of the small ships, hence the Shadow Parasite.
    Thanks for the video, it brings back memories...

    I Looooved Starcom growing up, transformers was the more popular toy line / cartoon, i was more of a M.A.S.K. / starcom guy, eventhough i only got the lazer rat back then, kinda on the lookout for starcom pieces at the moment.. still have my rat, and still looking good.. never had any of the bigger pieces like the bomber and the bat.. but always liked the magnetic feature and spring louded action, that was implimented in the show aswell.. still great memories on the line and show.. you are right on the smaller pieces, i misplaced the dude that came with the rat, but i remember my guy missed his visor on the helmet,, one of the first things to go.
    i'm kinda glad it died out though, but seeing what happend with transformers, those movies really fucked up my love for transformers, eventhough it has nothing on the cartoon nor the toyline... i pray to god nothing will ever happend to starcom, and i'm praying even harder that the rumor of a mask movie coming out, will fall flat and it wil never happen.. i do own my childhood mask toys, and love rewatching the show.. if that movie comes out, i will avoid it like the plague, even the gi joe movie was weak.. can't imagine that a mask movie will grant respect in it's production of the people behind it, other than wanting to make a quik buck with low effort..
    so i'm glad starcom is unknown to the masses.

    Very cool man. I vaguely remember these things. Nice toys, surprised they didn't do better back in the day. 'Course around '86 everything was about Laser Tag, and '87 was the NES, lots of toys fell in the wake of those two. Those Parasites are cooler than the Shadowbat, IMO. You should defiantly do more reviews on these guys.

    This toys and Zoïds were ahead of its time , they don't make toys like that anymore . Nowadays all is so expensive for stupid licensed stuff but the content doesn't exist . Back then toy industries worked hand in hand and had many intellectual creators even that has been lost today , everything has became greedy to its worst and emotionless.

  • @MaharlikaAWA

    That is weird because I had one of those bad guy tirangle ships I got at the store and it came the the pilot you have in the cockpit. The guy in the dark outfit. He also had his visor and it was blue, but of course the visor got broke off one day.
    There could be a reason. I saw the ship as a little kid loose at the store. It was not boxed. It had 1 gun broken off too in its transformed state. It had the pilot in the ship though. My mom was able to buy it at the store for a discount price because it was broken. I had no clue this was a cartoon either and thought this was a good guy ship my whole life. I do not have it anymore though...I still thought these guys were so dang cool and my friend had some other ships too. We were into this stuff and GI Joe and MASK and things.
