- Hey guys, Sarah here! Time to cover more ground then Tempest One ever did…because we’re traveling in location as well as time this time! Let’s take a quick look at some International versions of the 1983 classic “Press Your Luck”

Had no idea of the existence of a UK version. The German version did get a revival called Druck Dein Gluck and had a Shark this time instead of the vulture.
As a Filipino, I must thank you for mentioning our country's version of what is my favorite 80's game show of all time

That German one looks like fun! I think it'd be neat if they used that musical version of the board for all iterations of the show worldwide.
Your show is among the most entertaining and enlightening stuff I've seen on this channel, Sarah, but ya definitely done goofed on the "demo spin" business at 4:10. Tomarken (BTW, my autocorrect tried to say "to market" as in that old nursery rhyme "to buy a fat hog." Like this if you smiled at that one, please?) kept track of his spins, too, during the US version's first month or so. I remember him getting very excited about reaching the five thousand mark before he suddenly hit a Whammy and the audience practically "awww'd" him off the stage! A goofy gimmick, to be sure, but a great showcase of Peter's more comedic side nonetheless.
In Whammy! Push Your Luck, they used different, new animations that were not from the US version. They actually look pretty cheaply made compared to the ones in the US. But there were some episodes where they actually did reuse the original animations, complete with redubbing. Just a side note there.

The vultures are probably meant to be "Pleitegeier". Pleite = broke, Geier = Vulture. It's an german idiom for the spectre of bankruptcy ^^ So it makes total sense in that regard!
I loved the episode, please take a look at international adaptations of other game shows as well :D
There were a few episodes where Tomarken whammied and told the audience how must the whammy took...
Who knew that Press Your Luck was a hit all over the world?! Well done, Sarah. Looking forward to next time.

GoldGleeGamer1 It is kind of surprising that a show that was only on for a few seasons has so many variants.
2:23 Small Nitpick, It actually aired on ITV, HTV West was just a franchise of that network, it was also the producer.
Wasn't the reason the prize values were so low in the Australia's version because it aired before prime time, and they had strict rules about how much to offer? Like Wheel of Fortune?
Awesome ep! Beautiful as always and it's neat getting to explore all of these different versions! :)
Now, one question: When's the next storyline episode?
Nice episode involving the international adaptations of Press Your Luck! I like the fact that there's a way to comment on differences between the American and many other versions aired worldwide. Have you considered about commenting about the international versions of Jeopardy? There's a lot to say about the Russian version, and I've watched it many times myself. It's as much interesting as the Hungarian version.
+Cruiseshipz Studios I suggest that the Press Your Luck International versions are seriously the same as I do create it. I wish that the German and Turkish versions aren't different. It's the same as the similar parts.
One version of jeopardy (Arabia I think) had a triple jeopardy round and was an hour long.
Perpetually Pissed As far as I remembered, the Arabian version of Jeopardy! had a really long introduction to each player, and that took over 10 minutes before getting into the first three rounds. However, the Russian version, known as Svoya Igra, aired at about 37 minutes approximate, which made their games played right away. Because of this, they played four rounds, with 3-4 daily doubles in each round, which is why they raised stakes for the intelligent Russians.
As for Gluck am Drucker, looking at their spin board, I think Mr. "2-12-1-9-4" would not have an easy time with this. (In fact, he probably wouldn't like Second Chance, either...both Larson-Proof)
Don Paschal all though there is no video of it, Jim peck has said that there was a contestant on second chance that won over $80k on the show. But with second chance episodes so scarce we may never see the evidence of it.
Also noteworthy regarding the Aussie version, there was never a car on the Big Board. Rather, any champ who could win 5 shows received one as they retired undefeated.

That German version seems like it would give people seizures.

Good stuff. :) I definitely liked the Aussie and German versions as well, though the former being so accurate isn't too surprising given it was done by Reg Grundy.
That aside, here's a couple other versions you might be interested in seeing:
* An episode of the Turkish version, "Şansini Dene" (1994-96), which seems to have copied the German set but botched the most important thing - the Big Board, which on this version is a nonfunctioning prop on the set. The board the players actually use is this cartoonish mess of colors that hurt my eyes when I tried to watch it.

According to UKGameshows.com: "Awful version of the classic US format, made on a shoestring budget and offering a top prize of just £200, which rather defeated the object of the game as it meant there was no jeopardy and thus no excitement. HTV may have licensed this format in the hope it would get picked up by the ITV network (following the company's success with Keynotes) but it wasn't even good enough to retain its primetime slot in the region, quickly being relegated to Saturday afternoons. It appears to have returned in 1992 for a second run in an even less desirable Sunday lunchtime slot."
Relatively low prize amounts wee common some of the smaller networks because of budgetary constraints, at least at the time (HTV's current owner, ITV, would have no problems doing the bigger amounts, as well as give Noel Edmonds something to do after UK Channel 4 went balmy and cancelled UK Deal Or No Deal), as well as the BBC (your tax dollars at work and all that rot..)
