- Hey guys, Sarah here again! Let's take a trip off the beaten path of television, to the land of home video games! Time to take a look at (official release only) home game editions of the high intensity and high stakes 1983 game show "Press Your Luck"!

4:07 That's Michael Larson. I'm VERY surprised he was put on the DVD intro, but he's the most famous thing about Press Your Luck so I guess they felt they had to.
I think that's because its possible for players to score higher than he has throughout the whole game.
The picture of the board on the hand-held game at 9:43 is actually a screen shot of one of the homebrews.
I have "Press Your Luck" for the wii... it's so much fun and emulates the original show.
Edit: granted there are issues with the game... but I enjoy it
In this vid it seemed like she had a whole different set of rules for reviewing the Wii version in order to make it sound like the worst of the bunch. I was unaware of the other versions, truthfully, and WOW were they bad. It's true on the Wii version I do NOT like how trips all have a fixed value as well as how, if you play with 2 human players, there isn't a 3rd computer player but I feel they got this game mostly right... and playing it with 3 human players is definitely fun. :-)
that game sucked anything that Ludia did sucked. if you want a good PYL look for PYL expert 3.3.0 or the one by Bigjon. The fan made games are the best as the fans know the show inside and out. trust me on that. look no farther then Mounthawks channel for his PYL videos.
Great review. I hate the generic Ludia guy as well. The reason he was “generic” is because his lines needed to make sense for multiple games, like Ludia’s Family Feud.
Also, like the “your friendly, time traveling, game-show-loving AI” catchphrase at the beginning and the end.
And of course, the Showtime Rock coming in at the end was classic.
This was very fun! I loved the muttered asides when the Wii screen went dark. I'm definitely enjoying this side-series!

Ok, so after watching a couple of Episodes with our new Sarah, I wanted to give some feedback on her performance. Admittedly, like most fans, There was a Charm the old Sarah had that I will miss.
That said, M.A.B. has a lot more energy to her, that really makes her fun to watch. She always seems into what she's talking about. At worst, my only nitpick is that she seems to be trying a bit too hard, but that is something that she will adjust too in time. It's still miles above the old Sarahs, who all seem like they could not take the role seriously, and came off a little bored in their performance (Though it appeared the last Sarah's Actress at least tried a bit harder).
I think I can get used to this iteration of Sarah, and I hope she sticks around for a while. Can't wait to see you guys in action when Season 2 finally get's fully underway.
She has more energy than she did in her first main series episode. She didn't seem to play the frustrated acceptance as well as old Sarah.

The Wii game's theme issue is most likely from a music rights issue, the Carruthers estate really doesn't want that used at all. As someone who wrote a recreating program in Visual Basic 6 back about 5 years ago and re-created it with a graphical upgrade since (but designed to run on a 800x600 resolution projector watch?v=fDPDJMXTU7g&t=1m21s); I'll see what I can do about getting a fresh recording of the board in motion should you wish to cover some of the home-brews like mine and Expert Edition.
Miis were generally restricted to first-party games on the Wii, so third party games generally had to come up with their own avatars.
That's due to your emulator, look at the first version done on the Apple ][ for a more accurate version of what you would of seen it.
I know it doesn't fit the theme of the channel, but it sounds like Sarah is pretty knowledgeable about video games. I'd love to see her talk about video games more. I mean, it would be a SHOW about GAMES, right?
You know, I never realized until I re watched this series, but we're currently on the 4th Sarah. I wonder why the role has been recasted so much.
As others have said, I like the energy of this current Sarah and look forward to what she brings to the show. Having said that, I'll miss the very last Sarah we had too (Eps 107 to 114), she had a certain earnestness about her performance and she was a good fit. Maybe she can come back as an evil doppelganger or something. The very first Sarah did a nice impression of a robot AI, perhaps a bit too well, but she set the Sarah standard. The Sarah from ep 106 was just ok.
I was genuinely excited when I heard PYL was getting a modern home game on PS3 and elsewhere in 2008, so much so that I ended up buying it twice, one physical DS copy and the iOS version some time later. I kinda like the gameplay of the DS version a little more than the iOS one (which is virtually the same as the Wii port Sarah talks about).
I don't entirely admire how Ludia pretty much butchered this endeavor, not just with this show, but with all of its game show line. The only show-to-game ratio I think they got completely perfect is Deal or No Deal, and even then, the bank offers are a little off there. When you can say GameTek at least made more faithful adaptations, you know you've got problems.

The GameTek game was for a DOS computer? I'm surprised I never knew about that one. Furthermore, I'm surprised there wasn't an NES game since the console was released during Press Your Luck's run.
GoldGleeGamer from what I have read and herd there were a few gameshow games that were in the works for the nes, such as concentration, super password and press your luck, made by the same company (game tek) that made wheel and jeopardy amongst others, but they never were released or finished. We got games like win lose or draw, jeopardy, Hollywood squares, and like 4 wheel of fortunes that were the same thing only different puzzles and prizes.
Hmm...I did not know that. But I do have one version of Wheel and Jeopardy! on my NES emulator.

whatever 111 Well sometimes he comes off as bland boring and just talks for a long time and it gets boring
yea look at Tim Connely's review on that as well as over on Game Show Garbage. If you are looking for good Game Show Adaptions look no Farther then Lost Silver as they do a lot of these Classic Game Shows at Anime and Comic Con's. and as well the home of Game Show Talk and Fun
As Cyndi Seidelman once said on Game Show Garbage, there's not too many good game show video games, with the exception of Wheel, Jeopardy!, and surprisingly, Double Dare for the NES. Then there's as she called them "The Unholy Trinity" that is Fun House, Remote Control, and Win, Lose, or Draw, which all three of those are absolute trash, with Fun House, in my honest opinion, being the absolute WORST!
Oh, and the less we talk about Nickelodeon Guts on the SNES, the better...
It's a fault on emulation... your running it in CGA (lowest graphic mode) and not confined to what it would of been then.
