Interesting new format. Would be cool to get some insights to the business part of CHC, too. Cheers.

Been there many times on family cars Richard, I feel your pain! I have service and MOT prep on daughters Astra H this weekend, sure to be fun….
Sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs again, but some things I do on ABS issues as I can’t justify an oscilloscope at the moment. Firstly, measure resistance with a known good (other side) and secondly, actually swap it with other side and see if the code stays or moves with it. Oh, and if you need to open up a taped loom, I find a dressmakers seam ripper is great for cutting the tape without damaging the wires.

Great video. Car repair gremlins out in force. This cheered me having managed a limp home today after a sudden fuel leak and losing the last quarter tank of fuel in a queue on what was a 20 min trip to get my newly refurbed rims and new tyres fitted after POT HOLE attack. Retirement is always fun and I am now in possession of two new jerry cans as well. Thank you for posting...

Because I'm a sad old bastard, I'll never forget the 2002 9N Polo advert campaign: 'The tough new Polo. Careful it doesn't go to your head'.😎

I am amazed at just how many Mk4 9N polos are on the road round here. They still look fresh too, and it is a 22 year old car!
1984 my first car was a 20 years old Ford Anglia 105e, that looked prehistoric back then

You must be glad this Polo 1.2 E has no central locking nor front electric windows. On Volkwagens so-equipped (S model and above), and if the spring inside the driver's lock is knackered (which is common), the windows would go up and down by themselves if the driver's door lock wouldn't return to centre in about two seconds of turning the key.

absolutely, keep fit everything, plenty of option delete spaces on the dash and approximately 200 things less to go wrong.

Your coffee will taste better if you put the milk in before hot water. ❤

Quite so first thing before the kettle has got anywhere near boiling ad a drop to dissolve the granulated coffee then put the milk in let the kettle finish boiling and top up the mug ,doing it this way avoids scalding the coffee.

Buy from a bricks and mortar motor factor Rich
Any polo parts you need can be found at GSF good quality, decent prices and staffed by people that know what they are doing ,who needs any better than that

Eurocarparts who couldn't supply me with the correct LHR abs sensor in the correct box until my 4th return trip to the counter. Alas also the OE steering angle sensor is not available from ECP. Generally I get reasonable service so long as I take the part with me that I need and then compare it at the bench.
Even that is fraught with issues, it cannot be picked until it has been paid for, twice I have paid for something, unboxed it, found it to be wrong and then claimed a refund immediately. Staff are always friendlier than the queue behind me.
I blame VW and the car being right on the cut over point for revisions.

Seems like a standard day for anyone working on a car. Or for any parent, for that matter! Take solace, Richard; you are not alone! 😉

Hey Richard, when you gave yourself the Black Fingernail (ala Sid James) did you you say my my golly gosh darn, that smarts ? I know when I have done it I use the really rude words "oh Bother" obviously a very windy day in England.
I never expect a parts supplier to get it right, they PISS me OFF. Pay Peanuts get Monkeys, I bet some gibbon put the wrong ABS sensor in the wrong box.
