I was an '80s kid in the '80s, so I grew up with Max Headroom. It wasn't til I was a teenager in the '90s that I actually watched the movie and understood his origin story.
I consider myself a fan of the show Max Headroom and have it on my eventual "to vid" list. As a reader of both speculative fiction and science fiction I agree that futurist predictions are coming to fruition. The tragedy is that the bottom line of profits before people will always be the priority with technology. Isn't it also telling that when new tech does surface it is always used for war and crime before anythings else? Thanks for the vid. I have subscribed and will look at past stories and look forward to future ones. 💀📼
I remember the American(Yank) version of this and his Pepsi commercials from my childhood. Simpler times when listening to some guy with a tick was entertaining.
I have very distant memories of this show. It came out just a year after I was born, so I probably caught it in syndication. But I feel it would be a good SF series to revisit in this era.
Ads: I've long since thought that the way ads exist is completely illogical from the perspective of the public. Take youtube for example; We are either forced to have an entire ad play on our screens. Or only be able to skip it after a few seconds. This observation is a LOT more important than people realise. Truth be told, there is no acceptable reason why we shouldn't be allowed to simply [not watch ads]. In fact; RUclips is big. So big in fact, that in a sensible world, companies would have to pay for the PRIVILEGE of having their ads on the platform. RUclips really doesn't have any proper reason for forcing its users to actually watch ads. In a more sensible world, youtube would simply already been paid. So either youtube (Google) and other companies are basically banding together to create a situation in which it is easier to MANIPULATE people. Or they essentially took part in a [backroom deal] type of situation in which our screens and battery life was sold off to ad companies under the guise of [we'll do whatever we can to force our users to watch your ads]. In a truly sensible world, ads would exist solely in their own space which people can CHOOSE to go to. And something to think about; if companies are allowed to manipulate people to do what those companies want them to do, then we cannot in good conscience admonish other situations involving manipulation. It would simply be hypocritical. 🤷 AI and jobs: [Jobs] are not real. A job is not the same as [work that needs to be done]. A "job", is a [mechanic] of society, a made-up concept that functions as a cog in the system. The only reason people "need jobs", is because we are currently controlling ourselves through [society and its mechanics]. If we were good enough, mature enough, responsible enough as a species. Then these systems of control would be completely unnecessary. As a species, we should not want to keep [jobs] around forever. In fact, the end goal is to have as little [work that NEEDS to be done] so more individual human beings can explore and grow in the human condition. And whatever issues arise from AI technologies, it is our responsibility, our fault. We are at the source, not AI.
Two words for you. RUclips revanced. You getting mad and ranting at a CREATOR OF A VIDEO does absolutely nothing. Either adapt, change your environment by actually doing something pertinent or shut up because THIS MAN did nothing and RUclips will never read your comment on HIS video. You want change? Do something about it, whether for yourself or for the betterment of the entire platform, but don't spread your negativity to an individual completely unrelated to your issues. Be an adult and put your big boy pants on, or get out of the conversation sweetie
And if Revanced doesn't work, Tubemate. You can both watch add free videos and install both MP4 and WAV./MP3 files directly to your device for free. Again, your lack of ingenuity if your own downfall. Either use your brain for more than a coat rack, or don't get mad when people treat you like one
Ads are more for the back of the brain rather than the front, if you see ads for coca cola, you'll likely think about that brand if you think about soda. Also saying jobs ain't real is a little goofy, humans require resources to live and resources are not free, it doesn't matter if its paid for by effort or money.
No he started on Coca-Cola commercials or was it Pepsi either way that's where Max Headroom came from Not this TV show which I remember watching as a kid..
He was Coca Cola's mascot for a time but Max Headroom originates from this film. Coca Cola just licensed him for advertisements for a while which is hilariously ironic considering the whole point of him was to criticize capitalist greed.

It's Max. Where have you been? He's the most honest TV host for over 40 years. And he loves golf. Enough said
I thought the title was a little boring. Cyberpunk warned us? Oh, shocker! But the content of your video is great, keep it up!

Fabulously well presented. Thank you!
i have the entire series on DVD
Great, when can I come over and pick it up?
I am putting my phone down right now.

Alright, and what if I told you that you did not interpret what I said correctly?

@@NamlessOctarian how is that ironic? Is advertising an example of capitalist greed or something?
The bbc interrupts were before pepsi.
