One Foot In The Grave - The Best British Sitcom

One Foot In The Grave follows recently retired Victor Meldrew (Richard Wilson) and his wife Margaret Meldrew (Annette Crosbie). Victor has a habit of moaning a lot and is a magnet of bad luck. Optical discs produce an inferior image to film or digital transfers. They’ll get you a full image but they’re all built off dvd which took a black and white image and colored it in sending the color components down separate lines. While this will give you a clear image it’s really dated and if you can stream or download and watch through Apple play or some other provider do that unless it’s a 4k release that is disc only.
Dalton is and always will be my favorite James Bond. He nailed the character in every way.
He was the closest to the Bond in the actual books. I liked him. He's my second favorite Bond. (Brosnan is the first).
The reboot is slightly better because of how it acknowledges nostalgia but still modernises everything - and Thunderbird 4 finally got a proper launch sequence!
My favorite Bond is Roger Moore however Dalton is definitely the Bond Ian Fleming envisioned.
Great video! I've been championing Dalton as the best version of 007 for years and I'm delighted to see I'm not alone.
Agreed! Dalton feels ahead of his time, especially when it seems like people criticized his Bond for all the reasons they LOVE Craig's - darker, grittier, more physical and lethal. Both excellent, but I find Dalton a bit more fun.
I just captured 2 of these on security camera on seperate occasions
I think that they should have fought for TIN TIN'S name & THUNDERBIRD S should have been THUNDERBIRD 6
Gerry Anderson of Course
Just FYI. I can hardly understand what you are saying.
Those old dvd menus hit hard too
This did not work for me. I used a can of beer, an IPA. I noticed the first one was real fizzy and popped when I opened it up. I did this for over a minute. Same result. And I didn't even shake up the can.
How do we help stop this loss of players and media… Consumers need to understand what's required for 4K to deliver when they turn on the TV to watch a movie even with streaming. I assure you that there is a large percentage of people that have incompatible TVs and players in other words their 4K TV and players and HDMI cables that they purchased were the least expensive or purchased at different times. Resulting in incompatibility because they didn't read the specifications. That translates into disappointment and most people are not going to go and spend money again to realign their TV and their players and their cables to get what they think they purchased in the first place. That will go a long way to help the market... And at the same time physical media is not going to disappear the dust will settle at the present time and maybe like vinyl if it does disappear it'll raise its head again...
Makes sense
Old news junior , buy a Sony .
"Its a puppet!". Ever read a un-Disneyfied faerie tale? Some one has never had a childhood.
Never going to happen
I will never give up on buying physical copies of music CDs vinyl and Bluray
How do you know physical media if born in 2008? Lol
I'm surprised Severence Season 1 DVD didn't just come in a CD case with a middle finger on it. Applepuluuuuus
Physical media isn't going anywhere. It's better than it's ever been. The reason why LG is not making blu ray players anymore is cause they haven't upgraded to any new ones. I don't remember the last time I saw someone buy an LG player. People are buying Sony or Panasonic. Hell I have a Phillips blu ray player.
I agree. Look, Brosnan to me is my best Bond, but Dalton is my second best.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP SPREADING FAKE NEWS. BLURAYS ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE AND THE NUMBER OF 4K RELEASES PER YEAR IS STILL GOING UP. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER 4K BLURAY PLAYER COMPANIES THAT ARE BETTER THAN LG THAT ARE STILL AROUND.
I don’t really think disc rot is generally caused by handling the disc or damaging it as much as it is caused by manufacturing defects. I’ve experienced it in NOS sets that were still sealed but over 10 years old. Of course I can’t attest to how the set was stored before i bought it. I have had at least one set that I bought new around 2012-2013 and just watched last fall and the last disc in the set was showing signs of disc rot. It still played fine but eventually it won’t. I opened the set when I bought it, then never opened the case again or handled the discs until I watched it over 10 years later and my house is always air conditioned rarely getting over 75 degrees. I bought another set on eBay to replace the bad disc and sure enough that last disc oddly only had disc rot annd even worse than mine. I think WB discs are especially bad which this set was from the Warner Archive but I also experienced it with a number of the original releases of “Mission Impossible” released by Paramount when I bought that series last year.
Good evening 😊 I love my physical media and have a collection of Blu-ray/ 4k steel books along obviously with a 4k Blu-ray player and TV. It would be a real shame if other companies followed suit and dropped all Physical media. Personally streaming is something I don’t do and it just isn’t the same as having a collection or rare numbered Blu-ray films or 4k steel books for that matter.
Good thinking. I suggest also perhaps buying a second player - they turn up in exchange shops frequently. I never touch the playing surfaces of discs and select the pre owned ones carefully. Beware of buying pre loved family films from the charity shops. More often than not the parents let the children kick the discs around and they are scratched up too badly to play. Also the release buttons that hold the centre of the discs are not all the same design. Some release easily and others hold the disc in a vice grip. One new disc split in two attempting to free it from the case! I lament the passing of this versatile medium but will not subscribe to any streaming service
Betamax will dominate!
Well done! The discs are very resilient. No worries about touching the surfaces. That said, it is good that you take such care in handling yours. I believe they will be VERY collectable in the future, so yours will be in top shape when you decide to sell for profit. :-)
I absolutely love Sean Connery, and his version of Bond appeals to me simply by a virtue of looking and sounding like Sean Connery, with his unbelievable charisma and charm, part natural and part carefully crafted. However, I have to admit, when trying to imagine the cold-war-era hard-edge British spy from Fleming novels, I cannot imagine him looking anything like Connery. Or Roger Moore for that matter, who is also a charisma factory and a very inspiring figure, but of a very particular gentlemanly kind. I believe that Dalton was the only one who took the role so incredibly serious that he could set his own charming personality mostly aside and make place for that razor-sharp, weighty, almost tragic vibe that I would expect from Bond. Not to mention, he certainly looks the part wat more than eny other performer. Well, Brosnan is a close second I guess. Personally, I always imagined James Bond looking EXACTLY like Jason Isaacs in the later half of the 90-s, but Dalton during his tenure had almost the same vibe, and he certainly has put much more of his artistic craft into a character that doesn't necessarily require such depth
Id like to buy so much in Blu ray, but alot of stuff you wont even get as DVD
Streaming is lazy...I'm a collector of certain genres...I'm very happy with my 4k..player..also upgrades blu ray movies...quality of high end gear helps...same with hi.fi...I streamed game of thrones and then bought the lot on blu.ray...no comparison 👌gaz
Same here dude!
Click. Bait.
I always keep my Dvds and blu-rays in good shape if I take one out of the case I always grab it on the sides never in the middle
The guys young and never witnessed Sean Connery so he's talking out his behind. HOWEVER Timothy WAS WAY better than Roger Moore that's true.
For me Dalton is the best. The Living Daylights is probably the best Bond film.
Dalton could be intense, with his voice and look and add subtle nuisances to his performance...Craig could not do this as well and neither Moore as good as they were..
For me it has always been Dalton.
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY is my favorite Roger Moore film, but for many years, every time I watch it, I keep wishing Timothy Dalton had been in it instead of Moore. (Broccoli also wanted Max Von Sydow as Kristatos, but I really feel Julian Glover was PERFECT in that role!)
How often have I imagined that Dalton got more movies
I don’t know. Eight?
totally agree.
Dalton, Craig, and Connery were the good ones. And I basically agree Dalton was the best, but it's a close thing. Lazenby gets short changed because he only got one, for which I blame the production team more than him. The movie was great if you ignore a couple specific moments. Moore was dreadful, and he only made one good Bond movie. I grew up with them, have seen them all multiple times....and I really can't figure out what there is to like about them other than Christopher Lee (and the changes they made...that book wasn't great).
DVDs look GREAT on CRTs, especially when with an RGB SCART connection, but when LCDs took over, I was disappointed by how they were displayed on them. So I grudgingly upgraded from DVD to Blu-ray, and, in fact, for anything, I will no longer go beyond 1080p50, ever.
Rest assured, you are correct.
It's Max. Where have you been? He's the most honest TV host for over 40 years. And he loves golf. Enough said
he had class, i choose him, easier than to balance sean or roger - both very good....to make it even more easier i enjoy 1962-1989 movies / actors only....
