"I'm Geddy Lee and he's Alex Lifeson"
-"Yes, I'm Alex Lifeson"
Lmao.
This is Ju.... Gord Downie, Gord Downie meet Alex Lifeson
He should've said "No, I'm not" xD
Wow. Didn't know evangelion unit 1 liked rush... me too
Dudes are awkward music nerds just like many of their fans. Love it.
@@romans52345-cy3tqhey, play I like to rock
Best. Intro. Ever.
Hi, I'm Geddy Lee and this is Alex Lifeson
Yes, I'm Alex Lifeson
E N J O Y
"Yes, Im Alex Lifeson?" and Im high!
Hes not a rap artist.....
Spectreman hhg&(cm y el de
@Scott Stevens : You have never heard Alex rap ?
If he was the one that rapped in Roll the Bones, still doesnt mean hes a rap artist....
Scott Stevens because every rapper is high
Am i eeing this right. Every interview they seem laid back, joking and no ego?
+Neil Tipton Aren't they a wonder. The best, no question.
+seekah1 I personally consider RUSH as Family....without the drama of course!! Cheers
True musicians and professionals.
***** That helps if you are Canadian yourself.....me personally it just comes down to who this Trio are as people! Manners never go out of style...Cheers
Ironic comment,
Lifelong friends really paid off for their longevity and excellence. And they are super nice guys too. It's awesome to see.
Natural Science...YES! I think it's underrated... great song
one of their best
Yes.
We all know the real reason alex said blah blah blah during his rock and roll hall of fame speech was just a big middle finger to them all for taking 40 years to induct them after all the bullshit rappers.
Mosin697 Yep. He's had a few things to say over the years about certain nominations.
"after all the bullshit rappers" It's about a lot more than that, the RRHOF people suck amazingly badly and Alex knows it, and Steve Miller knows it, and Gail Zappa knows it, and Johnny Rotten knows it, and Neil Young knows it, and....
I don’t even know why the hell they induct rappers in the the ROCK and roll hall of fame
His "Bla-Blue!" is most definitely a "FU"! And who's head of the RRHOF? Jan Weiner (sp?)-same jerk in charge of Rolling Stone!
>bullshit rappers
Rush put in rap sections in songs. I doubt they'd be mad that Eric B and Rakim got there first
Dudes are simply the coolest ever. I'm so blessed to have grown up with them!
3:02 this broke my heart. You can see in Geddy's eye's the heartbreak, they probably knew about Niels condition at this point.
These Canadians are the nicest people, in many legendary Rock band there were conflicts between bandmates that lead to fights or even worse, separations, Lennon/Mcartney, Slash/Axl....., But Rush, beside their amazingly individual talent, they respect each other so much, you can feel how Geddy still wanna tour and make records but he respects Neil and Alex s decision and they are still friends and hang out with each other even thou they have different opinions about business, and I love how they didn't let that impact on their friendship. RUSH IS SO COOL
LMAO I love Alex......."You're talkin' about a RUSH song, right?" LOL I love how easily Geddy laughs at his answer. And at when he says, "The interesting thing is, that everybody remembers my speech." Awesome clip here. Then when Alex says, "Geddy," and Geddy replies with, "Neil." LOL Great stuff.
Yeah I cracked up with that part. lol Rush are freaking awesome!
@@atranfanatic Aye, that was such an awesome answer. Alex is hilarious (as are the other two but Alex has the goofy style nailed!)
@@tested211 Yeah but sadly only two left now. :(
I know Neil was not an interview-type person, but not seeing him in even this clip when he was still with us hits so hard now that he’s gone and is very bittersweet...
Alex is a very funny dude. The Immigrant Song... Only true Zeppelin fans would get that one.
I assume he was referring to the solo on the How The West Was Won version, which was amazing.
Nahh i'm pretty sure it was a joke
OH dammit. That is funny as hell !
alex is a master troll, got me thinking like, where in the hell is that solo in immigrant song.. I even played it in my head and then I was like.. oops, alex did it again
Well, assuming that they were referring to the solo of Stairway to Heaven from the Song Remains the Same soundtrack (wich I think is the best), maybe I think Alex wasn´t joking about Immigrant Song´s solo, but I´m not sure...
they are so cute!! is like if they were still in their 20's
they are always like that
Am I the only one that think Geddy is so sexy still...Alex isn't bad looking either
Only cus theyre Millionaires otherwise yould not even look twice at them
kenya coleman When was Geddy ever sexy?
@@majortom4711 I know he got less dorky the older he got.
I wish someone had asked Alex if he planned to do more acting. Now that Rush is over, I hope to see him in more projects. He's really got natural comedic ability.
he surely does.....he is trully funny
At 51 years young, it was so much fun growing up listening to their "albums" and waiting for their tour to hit CT back in the day. I don't think there will ever be band like Rush.
The story of RUSH, is what every musician should know, a band that knew what they wanted, didn’t compromise, became friends as well as band mates, and persevered and made fans the organic way by playing everywhere, and loving what they were doing.
Please never stop making music...
They won't/aren't. Music is their art, and whether or not they tour as Rush or not, they will still make music.
I hope they'll never stop before there all dead, they will never die
@@aylbdrmadison1051 Yes, they have. Neil has health issues and can no longer play drums. Alex has severe arthritis as well. They won't ever tour or make albums again.
Glad I saw them..... 6 times.
Based Bear this was all typed 1 year ago. R.i.p Neal Peart . Make sure you see your Favorite bands and visit your Favorite people !

Geddy Lee is so diplomatic....
"Probably hash... probably hash" haha
Reminded me of the Trailer Park Boys episode where Ricky kidnapped Alex =D
Matej Hoffmann hilarious
"probably"
Had to be on hash a song about trees talking to each other so Neil burned too love these guys
Bill Koonrad ...but trees DO talk to each other
Geddy, I notice in what every country you were in you tried to at least learn a greeting, I think thats aweseome. I been a fan since 1978, and a bass player. Im 60 and still love my rush
Except Polish greetings.
The most humble musicians in rock-n-roll.
Alex Lifeson has always been my favorite, he inspired me to play guitar and still does!
Me too, him and Steve Howe were my two idols when I was learning to play.
3:13 so sad we would know years later why they can't tour... love these guys they're the best.
Well, that interview was in 2015. Neil wasn't diagnosed glioblastoma until a year later, but even as far back as this interview, he was pretty much done with touring.
So happy Alex said Natural Science, my favorite Rush song ever!
Lost it at "Shemp"
It's the better punchline but Larry is the one whose face was superhuman. He took so many slaps from Moe that the skin on his cheeks grew calluses and became tough as leather.
lol, Alex acts like Shemp, it doesn't surprise me. He has more of a Moe haircut, though. Wonder if he's a 3 stooges fan?
Been an avid fan of these gentlemen since they first came to my hometown (Cleveland) back in '74. Have always admired their courage to stick by their standards and write and perform what gives them joy. I know they're not super public people, especially Mr. Peart; but after all these years I would love to just meet them briefly and thank them for the DECADES of gorgeous music and lyrics they have given the world. What an inspiration for so many!
First version of the r40 was 4 hours long?! I would've paid more money for that!
1st of all my condolences to Neil's Family and friends Geddy n Alex and the fans but legends never die.
2ndly I was at the Texas Jam only for Rush who was the main attraction , tho everyone was there...Ozzie...38 Sepecial ...all the way to Brain Adams (they opened for Rush) lol and I Don't remember Alex falling down at all!? Maybe I thought it was part of the act? But I do remember once Alex pulled back really quick and so his guitar became unplugged ( in Dallas Reunion Arena, I think) but Geddy n Neil covered so well that you couldn't hear or tell anything was wrong at all! This is how Fantastic Rush is at the live shows. That prompted me to invent a new plug for guitars ... I love natural science too but La vila strangiato spl? is also awesome and 2112 and all albums after that.
I love it when they tell their favorite songs cuz they are mine too. In fact beside Rush I've been to Pink Floyd concerts..
Geddy was visibly upset about knowing they'll never go on the road again...
Sorry for a long post....Thanks for sharing.
I remember Alex's speech because it's the only where I remember every word said.
I bow down to these music gods.
Legendary band, hands down
It's encouraging to see Geddy so gung-ho about getting back to work. I love his attitude and work ethic. Favorite non-Rush guitar solo? Hard to narrow that down to 25, much less 1 but I'm pretty sure Eric Johnson is in there. Most talented member of Rush? I would have to say they are all pretty equal. In the groove of the song, Geddy holds it together best. For moments of shining during bridges and changes Neil is the focus. For solos, even with Geddy's and Neil's awesome lead/rhythm parts Alex still owns it. So they all have their moments. But I mean, listen to the "Freewill" solo. Tell me all three are not just tearing it up like nobody's business. So it all depends.
Anyway, I really hope Al and Ged start writing this month and with or without Neil and record another album. I love Neil to death and he's always one of my favorite humans alive, but these are twilight years and I don't want to see Geddy and Alex held back because Neil is losing interest. Find another drummer (pick me, pick me!) and start another band if necessary. Better to have 2/3rds of Rush continue than no activity at all. So let Neil take it easy and move on. I have to say this as much as I love Neil. He has served Rush wonderfully, but why should Al and Ged stop because he lost inspiration to continue the legacy? RUSH FOREVER.
Mike Portnoy perhaps?
BarronBrothersFilms
Maybe.

I agree with everything from gun-ho Geddy and Eric Johnson solos, to them continuing with a new drummer; IF that's what they want. They've given their fans more than any other band ever has probably, and they deserve to be a little selfish in their later years.
I'd be clamoring for Alex's spot too if he was the one losing interest btw. No disrespect intended. Unbeknownst to him, Alex had a Huge part in teaching me how to play. So much so that I had to stop listening to Rush for years so I could develop my own style.
MrDeppness Neil Peart is actually suffering greatly with arthritis pain from all his years of serving percussion
Look at those faces aww swak. My heart goes out to you two during this time of loss. It was just so spectacular to witness all three of you in stage. Bless you . I adore the band so much. Liz
Rush actually give great interviews.
Alex is such a character
Great guys, great musicians, great music.........
"You're talking about a Rush song, right?"
Lmao!!!
I can remember when I was a teenager in the late seventies, being exposed to Rush for the first time. They became my band, and me and a group of friends followed them religiously and went to their concerts every time they were in town. But I had to continuously defend Geddy's voice and the band with other friends who preferred bands like Zeppelin, Floyd and Sabbath. I wanted to put Rush on the map! Magazines like Cream and Rolling Stone would barely cover them, but when they did, I would buy the mags and to this day, have all the clippings on Rush from these magazines. It was a glorious time! The first song I ever heard by Rush was a "Farewell To Kings" and when I heard the first lyrics "When they turn the pages of History...." I was hooked!
I remember watching this when it first came out after the 40 tour. I am writing this now 12/19/17, and it hurts to listen to Geddy talk about getting together after the holidays and possibly write some music. I think they already knew Neil wasn't going to be playing anymore, just didn't want to hurt the fans' feelings. I still find myself thinking about "No More RUSH" from time to time...
They gave so much over the years...I suppose it's just time.
PS...remember Geddy doing the "Take Off" song 100 years (OK..1981)? I was just showing my kids the song, and Bob and Doug's 12 days of Christmas. Good stuff...eh? Like, ok...I'm done now.
I thought they stopped touring because Geddy can't sing anymore. That R40 concert video is tough to listen to.
I love this band so much, such wonderful... and hilarious... human beings. R.I.P. Neil
Right on Alex! Natural Science is my favorite Rush song! Then following it is Cygnus X-1 Part I & II/Hemispheres as well as The Fountain Of Lamneth!
My top 3 is almost like yours, same order, but 2112 is my favourite
Right, nothing but masterpieces
*plays Hold Your Fire*
hold your fire is a fantastic album i don't understand the hate
atranfanatic The Fountain Of Lamneth - The most underrated Rush song ever.
ColdfacekillerJr KonekoToujouFan As Jazz Fusion record it ranks as a masterpiece. Give that album another listen. The drum solo on Mission is fantastic. There is some great bass work on that album but you have to listen for it. Get over the "Oh my God it's keyboards and strings and a choir...lame!"
If Rush kept playing what everyone wanted them to play every album of theirs would've sounded like their first album. And that gets damn boring after awhile. There would be no: Subdivisions, 2112, Cygnus X-1, Distant Early Warning or Xanadu.
Neal isn't there because he NEVER does publicity. Now, to the question of WHY he never does publicity? I have a theory: Long ago Neal changed the way we looked at the rock drummer. After the 2112 record we fans of hard rock made Neal the GOAT. The GREATEST OF ALL TIME. This title bestowed upon him was well deserved ; as most of us thought about hard rock drumming differently after it was released. His strength, style, fills, lyrics and showmanship provided a template for all of us who came after. He became a God-like hero to those of us who needed one. He was, and still is to a certain extent, literally worshiped. And therein lies the rub ; How could he balance this unbridled love with the fact that he's just a man? Flesh and blood and bone and skin and bad breath? The answer? He couldn't. So one day, and this is just my belief after watching and listening to him for over 40 years now, he just said enough. No more publicity....No more meet and greets.....No more of putting himself in the position of feeling uncomfortable because of another's fawning behaviors. So he just stopped and told Alex and Getty that they had to do it themselves. They both agreed, partially because they're both hilarious fools who love to talk shit and laugh, but mostly out of their love and respect of him....And also because they think he's the GOAT, too. LOL And, for the record, Neal is a wonderful, kind and giving man. If you ever run into him at a Starbucks or a Safeway just smile and nod. If a conversation organically begins then chat him up about the weather or your car or your job.....just don't tell him how much you admire him because, quite frankly, you really shouldn't tell a complete stranger these things. And remember ; Hes not a GOAT or a God.....he's a man, just like you. LG
Larry.......or...or....he just doesn't like doing pressers. I think you're way overthinking it my friend.
*Neil
Ok Neil, we get it. We will not bother ya mate! ;)
*Geddy
Neil is an introvert. Interviews and being the center of attention isn't his thing.
“It doesn’t look good at this point.”
Though they couldn’t have known then, in December 2015, what was gonna happen with poor Neil, man, that just stings in retrospect. Rest easy, Professor. 🙏🏻♥️
I never get tired of them.
3:03 Alex's face tells the story about what they knew but were not going to tell
I witnessed their show in Wichita Kansas maybe 1974 76 they opened for YES ,,Awesome
The secret to the longevity of Rush? For starters, being best of buddies...
Great band
I'll never forget the first time I heard Rush . . .
. . . What was I talking about ?
Seriously though, Rush will always be near and dear to mine ear.
The biggest disappointment I had was knowing this band a few months ago and not being able to watch any show
Matheus Same! I think I was introduced to them in 2015 and they were almost done touring already :(
I just got into them and yeah it's really disappointing that I can't see em live
same here
I always felt that way about Hendrix.
At least there is a chance you may yet see Rush live.
Same
Alex cant help but cutup. Favorite solo is in Immigrant Song- which has no solo.😂
These guys are just great. Just regular people that made it big, but stayed the same all along.
I never realized before how obvious it is that they already had knowledge of Neil’s illness. They’re so professional about it and we never knew. What a group!
3:15 Welp, if all of you guys having terrible health issues wasn't bad enough, (blown voice, terrible arthritis in Alex's hands and Neil's feet, plus others) than the fact that Neil is dead doesn't help. Rest in peace, Professor, your music and incredible skill is timeless and will live on fervently in the hearts of millions of loyal Rush fans. As for all of Rush, thank you for all you did for so long. You chose a good time to stop, although we would've attended concerts if you all were in wheel chairs, playing 2/3rds of the notes completely wrong. Your dedication, hard work, and of course incredibly awesome songs changed the lives of countless people, and we will always be grateful for Dirk, Lerxt, and Pratt. 40 years of mind blowing, skillful music so unique and amazing, well never see anything like it again. We will always love Rush, no matter how many years pass. Thank you, gents!
Two out of three of my favorite and in my opinion greatest, most innovative musicians and performers of all time! ;p Thank you very much! No need to thank me! I just showed up to the party. Cheers!
One of Alex's favorite guitar solos is in the Immigrant Song? There is no solo in (the original studio release) that song. Always a jokster, that Alex.
+Joe Nelson lol, I wonder how many picked up on that, always the goof, essential balance between Neil and Geddy, their chemistry couldn't be more perfect.
So glad a couple other Page fans caught this, lols.
The Lonely Traveller no he's Alex Lifeson he's talking about the one on III
Why are rush videos like this so fun to watch 🤣
You can tell by different interviews throughout time rush definitely wasn’t over till Neil very unfortunately got cancer. God bless his soul!
Best band ever!! Rush rocks!!
I'm glad to hear Alex say that. Natural Science has always been my favorite.
Superb, i smiled all the way through that, amazing and down to earth
Rush rocks! No questions asked!
My question would have been: can I adopt you guys?
If Rush ever live-streamed their basement sessions that would make my life complete
Geddy wants to keep touring, gigging. He's gotta do it -- it is in his blood. He has to keep going UNTIL it's IMPOSSIBLE - or 'til he drops -- like Glen Campbell, Lemmy, Charles Schultz, Little Richard. Shoot me an email, Ged. ;-)
Best band ever
This is proof they are nice guys - they actually agreed to sit down with a magazine that deliberately ignored them or out right shit on them for the first 35 years of their career.
My favorite people in music. Was surprised by Peart pronunciation!
Grace Under Pressure.. my fav album.
They are the funniest guys. The Immigrant Song, he’s such a smartass, I love it !
Love and miss you guys, but 8n the end your happiness matters more. Thanks for the memories and inspiration
I like how Alex said Shemp was his favorite super hero.
Yep, I say setup in LA and stream a concert online and in theatres. That way Neil can stay home but still play.
Sean McEnany It's not just about the touring. Both Neil and Alex are dealing with significant health issues (Neil's shoulders and Alex's hands) that mean they both feel they can't play to the same standards anymore.
Watched this and later on that day I'm trying to think of the solo in Immigrant Song...could not remember it. Good one Alex!
I speculate they will do some sort of studio project and put it out on DVD, would be awesome to see an hour and a half of them just free jamming.
The best rock band....RUSH
I played a California Fender Jazz Bass at a pawn shop yesterday and it was the smoothest Bass ever.
Love these guys.
Rush is the best in my life and the best in the world.
Awwwe. Geddy really wants to continue touring..... 😭😭😭. One more guys!! Do it for him!!
Very cool, as I would expect. Real people, wish I could interview them myself. Perfect!
I remembered his speech word for word.
Rock's Bob and Doug Mackenzie.
Take off, you hoser!
Hash and coffee is a wholesome answer for a rock band
What humility and class that these guys show to be interviewed by Rolling Stone after RS basically ignored and ghosted them for their entire career...
two of the best
Cool! This video literally proved that I'm truly naive. Boy, I really feel good about myself now. I swear on my life that I NEVER would have thought that those boys did any drug at any time of their existence. They always seem so mature and straight edge.
Neil Peart - Geddy Lee - - natural science
I loved the snare riff in the first chorus of Lessons. One of the oddest, unique cool things I had heard at that time of life. Reminded me a bit of the Bonham work in Out on the Tiles on Led Zep III
read the history of Geddy of his childhood and parents ,very awesome.
Thx for all the great music!
They look pretty damn good for their age!
Subdivisions is the best song ever made
I bet it’s fun to hang out with those guys.
I LOVE CANADA!!!!! Rochester NY. Nice Peeps, Great Neighbors.
Natural Science! Indeed, Alex, indeed.
“We’re talking about a Rush song, right?” Good god this man is so Canadian..
Yeah we love you guys !!! YEAH from Brazil
We only stop for the best !!! 👍😊
