I would love to meet Neil someday and chat for a bit as if I didn't recognize him. Then after a bit ask him if he's ever heard of the band _Rush,_ and tell him I bet he'd enjoy the lyrics.
I always imagined if I ran into him on the road, I’d do the same. Just some small talk about life in general, talk about motorcycles, etc. Then, as we part ways, I would say “Safe travels, Mr. Peart” with a wink and a nod (yes, I knew who you were all along).
Actually, the best way to do that would be by using bits and quotes of lyrics within your conversation. That would a subtle way of making it known that you know who he is... but without actually saying it. Plus by throwing those lines into the conversation and using words like "conformity" and...... there are other words that Neil uses often, but i can't think of them... But that would be the best way sort of ease in to possibly having a RUSH orientated conversation
Gifted writer I will miss his books on travel as much as his music. If you have not read his books they provide great insight into the meaning behind his lyrics.
I saw Rush at the Nassau Coliseum in 1986 on the Power Windows tour. Primus opened for them before ANYBODY knew they were. They were badly booed by the NY crowd even though they covered YYZ perfectly. Then Rush came out with Primus T-shirts on and killed it. My first rock concert.
One of the many times I saw them in Toronto, a Canadian band called Red Rider opened for Rush. Before and at the start of Red Rider's set the crowd booed incessantly, impatient to experience Rush. Red Rider put on such a good show the crowd was screaming for an encore by the time they were done. Totally worked up the crowd for Rush.
I own all his travel books. They cover topics familiar to most motorcyclists. He figured out a way to keep himself happy and engaged while dealing with the superficial nature of show biz and entertainment.
I always thought it would be cool to meet Neal either riding my motorcycles or riding my bike. Now he's gone from here, and riding and living on another plain of existence, now my goal is to meet him on that other reality when my time comes. What a shock on this Friday afternoon! Thank you for everything Neil
I love this! Listening to Neil is like reading a novel!
Rush are the nicest guys RIP Neil thanks for your outstanding and brilliant contribution to the world and to music 🎶
WOW what a well grounded human being
I could listen to Neil for hours. x Bless you. xxx
I am really only beginning to learn about this genius of a man apart from his music...what a stellar and inspiring human. Gone too soon.
Neil is a bonafide genius and world renowned poet.
Interesting and amazing person. Driven. Proof that reading improves intelligence in your life...
Of all the people I have never met, I would love to meet Neil Peart one day, such an intelligent man
Great and talented writer, by the way... his books are amazing
Neil Peart is pretty well versed in everything it seems.
I can’t believe I was a lot like him. Godspeed, Neil Peart! You are loved by all!
Wow, that was a great interview. I have been a Rush fan since the early 70’s. This is the 1st time I’ve seen Neal interviewed. What a nice down to earth guy he was. RIP Neal you will be missed but never forgotten ❤️🙏🏻.
No wonder he was such a great guy, so insightful and in touch with the better aspects of life.
This man is a real role model of mine. Rest in peace N.E.P.
Never was a big Rush fan. I couldn't get past Geddy's voice. But as a drummer of almost a decade now, Peart was always a guy I looked up to and aspired to one day possess a fraction of the talent he did. His death is heartbreaking to me. Rest in peace, Legend.
His quality as a person, is what makes it difficult. His own tragedies, and now his wife and daughter. He was an incredible drummer and an equally gifted lyricist.
This is an amazing interview. Incredibly inspiring words from Neil Peart.
That is so true, when you travel people will help. It's just the way it is people like to help people and animals.
Rest in Power, Professor .. this one stings a lot. we all miss you very, very much. I have faith that you are looking down on all of us, happy and proud for all of us that you inspired so greatly. You are at peace now, the world thanks you infinitely. Rest In Peace, sir. God bless you.
I would love to meet Neil someday and chat for a bit as if I didn't recognize him.
Then after a bit ask him if he's ever heard of the band _Rush,_ and tell him I bet he'd enjoy the lyrics.
😊
RIP to the worlds best drummer
Gifted writer I will miss his books on travel as much as his music. If you have not read his books they provide great insight into the meaning behind his lyrics.
A truly amazing human being- so intelligent & talented.
RIP Neil! You are/were an amazing personality.
Thanks for sharing your story! Sounds like a fun first rock concert experience.
@@cbcmusic History Man!
Amazing humble human Being!
New book from Neil - cool
Gentleman, interesting and articulate - awesome drummer too
Cool post
Keep it 2⃣1⃣1⃣2⃣
I own all his travel books.
"When I heard that he was gone, I felt a shadow across my heart."
RIP Neil Peart. An incredible musician, writer, traveller and human being. May you happily ride on your bike for eternity!
When we ask ourselves, "How can I live my best life?"... we can turn to the wisdom of Mr. Peart for the answers.
What a cool and interesting guy!
Happy 65th Birthday Neil Peart
Aww professor. You will be missed but not your gift of music. Thank you . What a human being.
very articulate guy. right on Neil!
I sit here quiet to listen to depth and soul and am humbled.
Rest in peace Neil ......
I love how Neil avoided society as much as he could, i also do it, i love being all alone as much as i can.
