Neil is back amongst his own again.Back to the Gods of music,we were only allowed to barrow his talents for too short of a time.Thank you Neil for sharing your gift with us!
Well said
"Seven females at at a Rush concert, must be some kind of a world record"
Ha Ha! Neil, good one!
I could listen to Neal talk for hours.... what a fantastic gift of speech and rich voice.... super smart guy what a tragic loss he will forever be missed
I can’t help it: every time I see him, I grieve. We lost such a great man, such a beautiful soul.
I still cry as well. I'm trying to be so grateful for what was. We were so blessed to have them, they try were a gift from God.
instablaster...
OHHH WOW! NO SHIT EH???
I became a Drummer/Percussionist 43 yrs. ago BECAUSE of Neil! He will ALWAYS and FOREVER BE my "MENTOR" and INSPIRATION!!!
WE MISS YOU SOOO MUCH PROFESSOR!!! :(...
He's one of the sole reasons I started drumming at 13 and still drum 21 years later.
'One tiny point of light ... shaped like a maple leaf' ... that's why he received the Order of Canada!
For a guy I never met, I miss him greatly.
Thank you Neil Peart and thank you Rush for being my favorite band for 40 years.
Hear, hear. Amen
The BEST
Good comment, my long awaited friend.
3:53 this whole speech explains a lot about why peart wrote all the lyrics
Still can't believe he's gone. Rip Neil Peart.
Your not alone man.
I know Glen his passing seems so surreal!
Yeah. Months later, and the world has gone berserk - haven't had the chance to really absorb this fact yet. With you man.
Yup, and when he went, all hell broke loose around the planet.
I was like that wasn't their last tour, every band says that. Wow I really was shocked after rush being a part of my life since 1981..
Still don’t believe he’s not on earth anymore. One of the greatest humans that gave us music and love. Thank you
"Suddenly you were gone. From all the lives you left your mark upon."

A Farewell to a King✋👑
Two days after Neil I lost my brother suddenly, ''God what have you done''.... RIP Neil and Charlie!!!
@@necromancer6558 Neil died exactly 1 week before my Mom died. Lost her on January 14.😭
@@dibber43 Sorry for your loss Chris. Lost my Mom the same date as yours only in 2016.
@@22ergie My condolences for your loss😢
@@dibber43 miss her everyday, but we have the music and the memories...
The quiet guys are always the most funny and talented
not the ones in the us schools
That goes without saying!!! And yup,ESPECIALLY in U.S. Schools!!! ;-)
They are ALL smart and funny.
Quiet guys? I guess you didn't know Neil was the main songwriter for the band
@@carewser Then shy guys
I think it was beautiful how, toward the end of his public appearances, he started doing more interviews and appearances and the end of the R40 tour and stuff. He wanted to go out with a lot of material to leave for us, his fans.
I was on a computer at the library the day I learned he had passed. I saw the ‘Remembering Neil Peart…’ headline and couldn’t believe what I had just looked at. I felt my whole body just kinda sink. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever forget that day.
Today I was talking to a lady I met at work. She’s our librarian at the facility, and we started talking about Rush. She said she cried for days after Neil had died. It must be so touching to imagine that you can have such an impact on people you’ve never met in your life. And that goes for Alex and Geddy too. It must be what greatness is.
Neil, you will always be missed and loved.
paul rudd and Jason Segel questioning Neil about his last name was Gold
We were so fortunate to have had this man's influence, talent, wisdom and passion in our lives. He truly was one of a kind and is missed terribly.
RIP, Neil Peart! I remember buying the "Fly by Night" 8-track in 1975! I was instantly blown away by this new, 22-year-old drummer! Neil was a true genius! To imagine the amount of grief he went through when he lost his daughter and wife within a year is heartbreaking! He hopped on his motorcycle and began his healing process. 58,000 miles later, he was ready to get behind his kit once again. Neil was a selfless gift to all of us for so long. Thank you God!
They broke the mold when he was made....miss ya Neil...
Absolutely
Enjoyed every second of this tribute. Well done. As a lifelong fan, I already miss that I'll never get to see them play together again. As Geddy says, thank you for 40 awesome years. What more could we ask for? You've changed our lives, boys, and it's all for the better. The most well-oiled machine rock has ever known.
Never to be duplicated 💎💎
@@shellyfuller5849 REALLY??? Please check out "THE RUSH TRIBUTE PROJECT" From Wisconsin!
I JUST Saw them a couple of Fridays Ago and THE TRULY ARE INCREDIBLE and HOLD "THE SPIRIT OF RUSH" In their VERY Talented hands!!!
I wrote a song as a tribute to Neil and did a lyric video for him. All of this is super moving. I am a huge fan.

Amen brother!
How is it possible to not love this band? They love each other. Nothing else really matters. They did it for 40 years. No compromises. They did it their way. Like Freddy and Bonham, Neil cannot be replaced so we'll all just have to thank our own creator we got the chance to share time and space with him.
I was heartbroken learning of his passing and still am heartbroken. But this made me happy and brought a smile to my face thank you Neil, Geddy and Alex. So many memories you guys were the soundtrack of my growing up. I would walk the streets late at night with my Walkman and your music playing.
Right on
I wore out a subdivisions cassette on my Wman .

Me 2 drums the walkman the boombox stereo HiFi you name it. Live Many times since 1982.🥁🥁🥁🥁👑👑👑
Today is the first day since his passing that I can watch him without tearing up. He was an inspiration
Oh wow this video is suddenly blowing up. Just wanted to say thanks for checking out my video. I really hate the fact that I had to make it but I just remembered seeing so many clips of the band growing up and Neil doing some goofy things so I just wanted to share them for anyone who hasn't seen them.
Well thank you for making it. Since his passing I have been going back and reading his books again.
Great video, thanks for putting it together! 👍👍
Excellent work. Many thanks for that precious material. Greetings from germany!
It's such a beautiful tribute to a really outstanding musician and lyricist. Thank you for doing it.
Well done sir. This one had me misty eyed.
Speaking for anyone who has ever heard Neil play...I think it's fair to say... No words can describe how our lives were shaped and influenced by this one man , who by shear determination and undying dedication of percussion domination, Neil took us all on a percussive journey beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Thank you Neil and thank you Geddy and Alex for your ability to give us a voice of Hope and a way to drive beyond the guilded cage....aye'
Rush will live for ever in our hearts and minds. Neil Peart was the straw that stirred the drink, what a generational talent. He will be sorely missed...
Amen
3 nerds that made the most beautiful music.
Not nerds geniuses!
Every time I think of Neil my mind just goes back to when I was cleaning out storage in my dads house and found a drumstick with Neil’s signature on it in between a mattress and an empty cardboard box, absolutely no clue how it got there.
I got a pair from a Foreigner roadie in Buffalo. 👍👍🥁

I'm so happy for you, and glad you have it
the one thing I loved about all 3 of them, they all had such great chemistry and friendship and great senses of humor, while all 3 of them took their craft and their music seriously, they didn't take themselves seriously.
Neil was one of the best musicians of all time. We missed him when he took his sabbatical and will now miss him forever.
What a true gentleman and a fantastic musician Your missed Neil R.I.P.
He was class act for sure.
Thank You Mr. Neil Peart for being the inspiration for so many drummers....the world misses you tremendously !
Such a great story teller, if neil was a teacher, he would have everyones full atention, rip.
Untrepid One ......absolutely one of the best teachers on earth.
There will never be anything like him ever!. God Bless him
Love listening to Neil Peart, R.I.P. Professor and great man he was. Love them all four times I saw them live....awesome band, great people.
The beloved and amazing Neil Peart. Saw him live only once but a memory I will never forget. What a musician what a band. ❤️
Imagine your job/love was to entertain COUNTLESS fans by writing lyrics with UNFATHOMABLE depth , play your instrument FLAWLESSLY and make it seem EFFORTLESS ! ? NEIL GAVE US ALL THAT AND MORE ! ! Thank you Sir .
There is a hole in the world since Neil Peart has passed. Gone way to soon!! He was a special special talent!!
Just brilliant. A great tribute to a great man. Long live the professor...
The Professor.....Legend! I'm Grateful to have been in the same "Room" with These Three many many times since April of 1975! They Are Family! Cheers To The Best Band And The Best Fans.....period.
God, he was as sharp as a razor mentally and physically.. We miss you, Neptune!
Even after all this time I still get teary eyed knowing that such beautiful music and insightful poetry will never be written ever again but I am grateful to have been along for the ride..
He was once in a century guy. Humble, intelligent, perfectionist, talented musician, filosofer, good friend, husband and father.
I'm not sure there is such ever again. We were very very lucky to be alive the same time. Internet habits reduce the odds of such highly talented musical eras ever again. You need your hands full of musical instruments not phones and clicky clicky.
He died on my 28th birthday. It broke my heart. His music has carried me through so many important points in my life. Thank you Neil. Thank you for everything.
My God, I miss Neil, every time I watch one of his videos, I tear up......rest in peace Neil, you are sorely missed.
Seriously. Your video made me so happy. This is not only a Neil Peart tribute.... but the band he truly led. Thank you
THAT LAST FAREWELL…I’M NOT CRYING, YOU ARE. NEIL, PLEASE COME BACK…😞💔
I was able to see rush (them) just once back in 1980-81. With their Moving Pictures album in Houston. I will forever remember that concert.
You chose well. I took my younger brother to see that tour in Oklahoma City
That tour was my first concert, Golden earring opened
BAJARACER43X it was my very concert as well but Max Webster opened up for them when I saw them in March of 1981. Saw them 11 more times after that, twice up close! Phenomenal band and was my favorite band ever from 1978 to this very day.
I caught the 2nd half of that tour. Best one I ever saw, had a perfect view of Neil.
My first time was in Edinburgh during the Moving Pictures tour 81. Always been my favourite Rush album since it came out, and also the best produced LP I’ve ever heard. LoveTerry Brown’s production on those studio albums.
Absolute masters of their craft. What a great band
Every once and while you find these videos of Neil Peart and they just remind us of how great he truly was as a musician, percussionist and an amazing human being. He is missed, but the art and memories he created will live on.
GREAT COLLECTION, thank you for sharing it!! 57-year-old retired professional drummer here, cut my teeth on RUSH. Neil was the line that separated players from, 'still learning'.
Three best friends. Truely three of the best musicians of all time.
I didn't get a lump in my throat, my eyes are not watering. We have been blessed in this lifetime.
Great tribute! For all of us who never met him, I thoroughly enjoy his books. His personality, his "voice," is right there for the reader. It's a way to get to know him, at least a little.
Had some great articles in Modern Drummer too
This is a great tribute to Neil, capturing some of those moments that made him so great. Thanks for posting. RIP Neil Peart
I got the GREAT "HONOR" to see RUSH 46 times in my life! And they ALWAYS GAVE Their ENTIRE SOULS To their Fans!
THEY ARE the MAIN "SOUND TRACK OF MY LIFE"!
I MISS YOU NEIL... SO VERY.. VERY MUCH!!! :(...
I cried throughout this video. I will never see Neil or RUSH in concert ever again...my favourite band since the early 80's.
Still tough to understand why someone that brought so much joy to others has been called by someone higher up. Will always listen and smile when I hear Neil play.
Rush was one of my absolute favorites... just so happens that they were quite hilarious guys what a wonderful family
Excellent and moving tribute to the Master. Interesting to see the sides of Neil that were the most memorable to you and the rest of true followers of NP. Very complex man and likely the deepest, most philosophical and most intelligent percussionist to ever hold a stick. One can hardly minimize Neil, by remembering him as simply a great drummer. Thank you for sharing.
He is so missed.😞 Thanks for the music, the lyrics and for such a gentle thoughtful soul we were blessed to be fans of❤
One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It’s fun watching three musical geniuses play music that you dearly love live.

A truly remarkable drummer. He was a joy to watch and an inspiration to countless young drummers out there. Hope to see you in the afterlife my friend.
Nobody plays like mr. Neil Peart . Thank you so much i miss you and your playing the kit.
If they live in our hearts and on our lips, they cannot die. Remember the “new guy” well and often.
I think my favorite moment is his proud smile after nailing the fill in Camera Eye. He was always looking so serious and focused behind the kit, but in that moment you could see him living in the moment. RIP Neil.
He was happy to get his tom back
The more I see of these guys, the more sure I am that they are total dorks, and the more I love them. Legends ALL!
Neil Peart was f###ing amazing! I've been a Rush fan for most of their 40 years. Saw them live a few times. They perform great music, and put on a fantastic show. RIP Neil Peart. May your music live on forever!
Oh man....I haven't even thought about it for years. See that guitar Neil is playing @1:00? that's Alex's Howard Roberts Fusion. I installed that chrome plate between the bridge and tailpiece in the 90s. Just a cover-up of a route for when Alex had a Kahler bridge installed in that guitar.
They all seem like really decent guys, I heard a story about Geddy trying to pick up a hottie and getting shot down, but I think we've all done that....Saw them n Snakes and Arrows in Albuquerque...Great Show, excellent sound, Geddys having a hard time with the high notes, but his bass work is superb. They had a good run, maybe its time to hang it up.....
Those stupid Kahlers ruined so many good guitars. Gilmour's black Strat suffered the same fate in the 80s. I'm wondering if Alex played that Howard Roberts Fusion, the one he had in the 80s,when I saw him front row in '09?
149creeping,,,, thanks for posting this, I see you did so on my birthday in 2020, RIP good sir. Neil you will never be forgotten.
He enriched all of our lives, and we can be thankful for that...
Neil's HOF speech was hands down, the greatest speech ever given... It was purely Neil in true professor fashion...
Neil had the timing of a atomic clock always in the groove never ever missed a beat .thank you for all you gave us and left us with mr Neil Peart the professor R.I.P Neil
That man didn't just play the drums he played a fortress of drums
All Neil Peart moments are favorite moments!!
Absolute perfection! True master of percussion instruments! R.I.P. Neil 😢
Never thought I was a huge Rush fan, but I love and remember almost every song, I know where I was when listening to most of their songs. It started when I was 13, and kept going and going, and now I’m 54 and love their music just as much and now realize how big a part of my life they’ve been. I can’t really think of any other band that’s higher up on my list.
Only thing you missed was that interview where Geddy and Alex describe auditioning Neil in 74--how they looked at each other and said, "Who is this lunatic? We want him!", right there, within the first two minutes. The first time I saw them was two years later, on December 16, 1976, at Chicago's acoustically perfect Auditorium Theater, on their first tour as the headliner. While I've seen them many times since, that show--every song--has stayed with me to this day. When I finally made it home that night, I was so blown away, so high from the experience that I floated for days and days with a silly smile on my face...
Great compilation. Thanks for putting it together. The first time I saw Rush play, Neil hit one of those little cymbals, like the one at 12:26, (I don't remember the song, it was on the New World Tour in 1983) with a good deal more energy than you see at 12:26, and it flew off the kit toward the Geddy side like a little frisbee. Also - regarding Neil's comment about Bob Dylan's quote and the goal of the artist being to inspire....mission accomplished, Neil. Mission accomplished.
Well Done-
My first Neil drum solo in Seattle 1975 and my folks never got peace and quiet after that.....
Thank You Neil 😎
One of the greatest musicians that ever lived. His life force was HUGE, and burned every second, sending out millions of sparks into the world. He's one of the people I immediately think of when I hear the phrase "living life to the full".
Brightened an otherwise pitch black day. THANK you.
Gods, I miss him. 🐇💔
The opening is hysterical --- my appreciation for Rush grows - again.
I always remember one comment he made to someone and it sums neil up very well, " I never wanted to be famous I just wanted to be good" now that is being a truly humble person
Thank you, Professor, for all of the gifts that you have given to all of us. Your words, wisdom, inspiration, life lessons and unmatched drumming skills. You showed everyone HOW IT WAS DONE. Your gifts will inspire generations to come and you will NEVER EVER be forgotten. Rest In Peace sir and thanks for the memories.
Thank you for putting this together! Purist gold there ever was! ❤
At 7:25, I love Neil's explanation regarding similarities in writing and drumming composition. What an interesting, thoughtful, analytical person he was; clearly evidenced by his masterful, intricate, drumming style. What a vast gift he and the whole band left for us fans. I'm still profoundly saddened by his death.
1977 Denver, Colorado auditorium arena. Walking backstage after Uriah Heep played turning to my right side and seeing Neil's slingerland concert Tom's sitting, waiting to be carried on stage by his tech. At that moment I was within reach of tapping on his concert Tom's! A big roadie looked at me and I didn't touch the professor's drums. A few seconds later they were carried away to center stage. Just one vivid memory from Rush "1977" Neil was the best! Thanks Rush for making memories!
As my late, great grandfather would’ve said, “A right good man.”
RIP Professor!!
And Thank You!!
Neil has been gone for just over a year now and he is still sadly missed.
Thanks for endless supply of amazing music and for the absolute killer live performances.
-= RIP Professor =-
They were such a huge part of my life growing up and into adulthood. Forever remembered and always missed. Professor N.Peart. RUSH fan 4 life and beyond...
Got to see them three times including R40. Knowing they were retiring made me sad, knowing why made me despondent. We miss you Neil!
I saw them nine times. Unfortunately, circumstances being what they are, I didn't get to make it a perfect ten. But at least I was able to see R40.
(sigh) to have been alive and watched a true master play. And a truly likable man by any measure. We were a lucky generation for great talent, no doubt.....
Not many things in this world give me more joy than seeing Neil smile ✌ ❤ 🎶 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🌎
I haven't been a fan for nearly as long as many of you, but after hearing songs like Subdivisions and The Enemy Within I fell in love with their music, and more importantly, the lyrics. As a drummer I look up to Neil, and I deeply relate to a lot of his lyrics and ideologies.
Rest easy, Neil.
I was there for the last show and never smiled so much!
This man was a true genius. His lyrics not only inspired me as a kid but saved my life and made me a better person..... RIP Neil......
The man, the myth, the legend! Neil Peart - it will be a long time before this ungrateful planet will be blessed with such a great and humble man as this. I still get choked up with just the passing thought he is gone. Long live RUSH! May your music forever echo into eternity!
I never expected to wake up one day and find out The Great One has left us, still shocked and bummed about it to this day, Yet Keith Richards still lives on, God Bless Him
He was simply a musical genius. He made drumming look so easy.
