UPDATE: WOW this video got more views than I expected. I would like to take this moment to address something. We all know that Neil didn’t believe in a heaven or afterlife. But if you see him in heaven, reuniting with his wife and daughter, that’s perfectly acceptable too! Let’s not cause a divide over this. We should be coming together, not be divided into blinded hemispheres.
Not just a drummer. Not just a Canadian. Not just part of a three piece. An introvert, a lyricist, a world thinker. He was himself, not what people wanted him to be. This human approach made him loved by others that much more. We lost a great human being. If more people took his approach to life, our world would be a lot happier. 🥁
Sad that it was that cancer in that incredible brain of his took him away. His body is gone but his music and wisdom will out live us all. Thank you neil
Yes, the irony of the outcome is awful (high intelligence then cancer of such a gift). Such an intelligent person, able to put thoughts/perspectives, places and people's existence which were put force in an attractive, engaging manner.
That which we treasure the most is the first thing that is taken from us. Yes, I am so sad that Neil’s brain was taken from him. He was a truly intelligent man, it was manifested in his drumming. The best ever. Rest In Peace, brother.
I can only wonder how many people out there are like myself at this moment, head hung low, hands folded in lap, weeping for a man we never knew except through music. I am heart broken. Of all the people in the industry, band members, songs, albums...this man meant the most. My world of music will never be the same. Condolences to everyone...
I still feel really gutted now. I've listened to Rush pretty much non-stop since he died. I feel bad being sad in a sense, because I know he would think such a notion is ridiculous, but I am really gutted. He influenced me in such a big big way and I will never forget that. All I can do is talk proudly of how brilliant he was at music, writing and generally being true to himself, and extremely humble.
I am on here because RUclips presented a song Time Stand Still, covered by the US Army Band and so I was watching a few more videos and I think I've come to the conclusion that as a writer/composer, Neal Peart's status may continue to grow and will spread out into the rest of the world of music, art and literature , far beyond just fans of the band Rush.
utnum1 you’re not alone friend! Rush, especially Neil, have been and will continue to be a HUGE part of and positive influence in my life 🙏🏻 Discovered them in 1977 at age 11 thanks to a childhood friend, and I wish I could thank that friend, but like so many of my childhood friends, he moved away..... Rush and Neil have been the constant ‘glue’ in my life that I could always escape to. Neil’s untimely passing absolutely devastated me 💔 😢
So this is what the most interesting man in the world actually looked like. RIP Neil. Condolences to your family, band mates, and close friends. I hope your fans give your family the privacy you requested.
Me too! I've been crying on and off since yesterday evening when Fox news announced that he has passed away. I have a strange love for each of the members of Rush, not a creepy sort of selfish love, but a respectful kind. I didn't even know that he was battling brain cancer for three years now. I only pray that he didn't suffer, and that he is in perfect Shalom.
Ya I get it !! Some are a lot harder then others......the one for me before this was John Candy.......Now Neil !!! Hits ya deep in the gut !!!! Toronto is in my soul.
Our hometown hero ...my uncle went to school with him...not the same grade though...we are trying to get the mayor to put a bronze statue of him at our lakeside park
A statue seems almost obligatory in his honor, I sincerely hope your mayor sees the importance that Neil had on so many around the world. If it comes to a petition I'll travel from central Wisconsin to sign it.
@@ryansheehan9462 Yes it would it's a shame though the park has really gone down hill the last few years they are building condos there and the piers were closed the last 5 years...they are working on the and are reopening soon though
Neil was such a private man, devoid of all trappings that most rock musicians have. I always respected fact he preferred to keep fans at arms length. What's ironic is many fans, probably felt closer to Neil than most rock stars because he was such an intelligent, down to earth articulate soul. Still trying to comprehend that he is no longer with us. He is just a generation ahead of myself. Hard to see people we grew up idolizing passing away at relatively young age. Anyhow, Thanks for putting this video together.
johnroosterrod65@gmail.com Wychwood Ave, that is SO true! I'm from Minnesota, and I discovered Rush in 1975. I was only 10 yrs old, but I was hooked! I entered in the USMC in 1987. That was so intuitive of you state the 'hidden' things that Neil was trying to say! When he was hit by his wife and daughter both dying in 1997, I'm sure he was contemplating suicide too... I think that his new wife Carrie and his new daughter Olivia brought a new purpose in his life. I'm sure that his retirement was due to the brain cancer, but I knew nothing about it. Alex and Geddy kept the whole ordeal a secret. I applaud them for doing it. RIP Neil Peart. Semper Fidelis
That is the truth for me too. I normally just like musicians for their music but there was something about Neil's views on life and literature that I really liked. Like him I also rode bicycles and motorcycles. One road I travel over on both the bike and bicycle each year is Ebbett's Pass - part of Hwy 4 and not too far from Lake Tahoe. I have a picture of Neil on that road. For years I referred to it as "God's road" despite the fact I'm not religious. It has a majesty too it. The other day when I was checking to see if the road was still closed for snow, I thought of it as "Neil's Road" and I'm not sure why I thought that... But it can stay that way.
The only True Wisdom comes from God. For judgment I have come into this world so that the blind will see and those who see will be blind. John 9:39 But go and learn what this means. Rich Bonham Bruford Copeland Barriemore Peart In that order.
The future disappears into memory, with only a moment between. Neil knew more than anyone that life is so transient and almost meaningless. Wrote about it often.
For those that feel that Neil didn't like his fans, he actually loved and respected and understood them, because he was one of them. He said many times that he loved his drumming heroes, too. Because he didn't sign autographs, go to meet-and-greets, etc., had nothing to do with his feelings towards his fans, and people in general. Instead, he was so humble that he was uncomfortable will many of the things that come with being so brilliant and so beloved by so many, namely never-ending adulation and media attention. It really is that simple. He didn't enjoy it. And we love him even more for being so true to himself, and therefore to us...
Yeah. It’s different if he felt HE was too good for his fans. The reality was he didn’t know how to deal with his fans saying he was so amazing. People like him who strive for perfection don’t want people saying what a god their drummer he is when he’s thinking “I might have came in a millisecond fast after the bridge” There are famous people who think their fans are beneath them. Neil certainly was not one of those.
Well said. I've found that many well-known people want nothing more than to be treated like normal people. (Some do ride the ego trip, but not all by any means.) Greet them politely, complement their talent, thank them for their contribution to your enjoyment. You may not be able to show anyone the handshake you received, or the sincere smile reflected back to you - but you'll always have it and know. Michael Jordan once helped my daughter get a box of cereal off the top shelf in the grocery store when she was a toddler. My wife asked her how she managed to get it down about the time Michael came around the corner with that 1000-yard smile - when I see him around town (he comes to Wilmington less often than he used to) I just say hi and ask how he's doing. Once upon a time you could catch him at a local pool hall, where he would spend hours - until someone started going all fan-boy on him - at which point he'd politely take his leave. We have a large movie studio and actors are around all the time - they all like a bit of space. Neil was just more up-front about his introversion. I love his music, but I think he would have been one of the great conversations of a lifetime because he was so well-read and thoughtful.
"When we are young Wandering the face of the earth Wondering what our dreams might be worth Learning that we're only immortal For a limited time." RIP Neil

Steve Adams Similar to what Freddie Mercury was going through - and he had the support of the band in keeping things as private as they could for as long as they could...
I was a struggling kid growing up on the streets of a large city... I wasn’t a very good student and faced a bleak future... Rush wasn’t just a great band - yes, their music was incredible, but their lyrics transcended beyond anything I had known... I worked hard to understand the meaning of those songs... I began reading books and learning more and more... today, I have a family, 4 children and a very good job and am close to retirement... I’ve had a good life. I owe much of what I’ve become to Rush and especially to Neil Peart! Rest well and rock on, Neil!!
I was lucky enough to spend some time with Neil years ago when he was in town and I was absolutely amazed at how inviting and “warm” he was to us! Not at all like I had expected. It was one of the best 15 minutes of my life! He had a way of making someone feel very important, just in normal conversation, which he even appreciated the most! RIP NEIL! Thank you for the memories!
A great man and drummer , after he lost his first wife and daughter he rode his motorcycle all the way from top of North America arctic circle to the bottom of South America 55,000 miles by himself and then wrote a book about it , ...I was always was impressed with that feat....he said his baby soul needed constant motion to soothe his broken heart and It was the timeless beauty of landscapes that were millions year old that gave him perspective on how tiny our souls and lives were ....nature healed him....the professor as he was called was truly a wise old soul.....R.I.P. Just think, right around now Stevie Ray Vaughan is introducing himself to Neil Peart, two of the best at their craft ever. No wonder why the weatherman is forecasting thunderstorms tonight. R.I.P. Professor
A truly anti narcissistic soul dedicated to the craft of performance excellence matched only by his ability to create soaring lyrics based on a voracious curiosity about life. Godspeed to Neil, his family, and friends.
I've been a huge Rush fan since I first heard 2112 in '78. I saw them in '81 at the San Diego Sports Arena when I was 17, and took my son to R40 in St. Louis when he was 17. After battling stage 3 tracheal cancer all last year, I was hit pretty hard to learn Neil died of cancer. I watch a youtube video and 3 hours later... ... I enjoyed this one. Thank you
I don't know why I'm surprised to find so many respectful, heartfelt comments on Neil/Rush-related videos. It's really lovely to see how many people have been deeply moved and wanting say something. This video is a reminder of what an inspiration Neil has been to so many. There is so much love and respect for him and his "soul brothers". Thanks for uploading this.
Yes, this is a beautiful, thoughtful collection of great clips that showed me new sides of Neil and Rush, only enhancing my respect for both his artistry and the overall class that Rush exhibited through the decades; thanks so much for sharing your awesome collection of clips, this was truly a rare treat by a true fan who really thought out the piece. It was very well balanced and it was most kind of you to share these with us. Some chans slap together anything just to upload 'on schedule,' but this was the antithesis of those types. Thank you Syrinx ❤️
I was one of the 7!!! Rush was my very first concert experience. Am thankful for the 6 times I’ve seen them. Even called in sick to work to get the chance to hop the boarder to see them @ SARSfest in Toronto in 2003. This has been a hard one..... It was a absolute honor watching you perform. RIP NEIL PEART 1852-2020
I lost someone who helped me grow, inspired me. I always listened to rush since i was a baby! (Thanks dad) Neil, was one of my biggest idols and inspirations. He was the best. We miss you neil! Rest in peace.
Unfortunately I never got to see Neil live. He's such a monster on that kit. Always innovating. Some people aren't fans of electric drums but Neil just saw a way to introduce more sounds into his percussive arsenal. A master and a student his entire life.
I've seen countless drummers live but no one could pump life into a drum solo the way Neil did. He was unique in that regard. He blew a lot of minds. Set the bar high.

RIP Neil. Your daughter is a very luck girl that she can always go to youtube and hear your voice again. I wish i would have recorded my parent's voices
Yesterday was and will for me be one of the saddest days ever, I've followed RUSH for so long like so many of you, but being a drummer of course it was Neil Peart who was always a click away. I was fortunate to see RUSH 6 time's and every show was performed to perfection. I read a lot of his books, the 55 thousand miles on his bike when he lost his daughter and wife, that book helped me so much. As a fan of Rush I can sit and listen for hours, and as a fan of a brilliant man I will always be grateful.. Thank you Neil Peart
I know the feeling. A huge chunk of my youth died yesterday. I am 35 now andRush has been my favorite band since I was 14. I've seen them over 20 times and used to follow them around with my friends on road trips when they were touring. So many good memories. I've never had the death of someone I've never met effect me so much.
@@Paulio91184 and I bet the 20 times would have been 50 times if all possible I know I would have liked to see them more. He will surely be missed......
Neil Peart is a genius and no one can ever truly recreate a talent that He has and he will go down as a true legend and the best drummer in the world! With a small edit to this comment Neil Peart has his own unique intricate incredibly technical style that no one else can recreate!
@Batphink Reynolds as I was an early fan of listening to Rush I never really paid too much attention who wrote the music I assume that the whole band was a part of that but then discovering that Neil Peart the drummer was riding most of the lyrics I was hella impressed with his music because the words from Rush music Still emanates to this very day with a lot of his songs
Thank you so much for this lovely tribute. Like all of you here, my heart breaks each time when I think of Neil and what his family and friends go through each day without his company or words. The lyrics to The Garden, I feel, encapsulates all that Neil and Rush stand for. And what a legacy it is and what an honour it is for us to have lived in the time of these giants of men.
I agree completely . He deserved another 20 years. When I hear and see people grieving for " their loss " when another person dies , it perturbs me a bit . They still have life . The person in the casket has lost everything , and that is who I grieve for . My parents , gone at 69 , and Neil Peirt , still in his 60's , ready for a well earned ,long retirement he never got to enjoy . Talk about a shitty break .
You are right, there is no answer why in terms of a "higher concept" of justice. Justice or fairness are just human concepts. Nature does not give a shit to them. But humans can always learn new ways to prolongate life, as long as religion is put aside.
Emilson Pereira Leite Lol. I don’t know about all of that, but what I do know is with or without religion he still was a great man and will be missed. Unfair yes. The end........
@@mikecolz7867 I am not against religions. It is just that only through scientific research is it possible for us to prolongate life. In the future people will not die from cancer. There are thousands of researches being conducted to overcome this disease.
Emilson Pereira Leite They already have cures for all of that. It’s a money thing. I lost my wife last summer from best cancer. It was the toughest six-year fight I’ve ever had in my life. She was the strong one. It is horrible.
No offense to any other musicians The name “Neil Peart” has been synonymous with great drumming for as long as I can remember. It’s the measure of how good you are i.e. “I’m good but I’m not Neil Peart” Or “He’s pretty good...not Neil Peart good but...” that sort of thing. I’m a guitar player so it’s always EVH or Jimi that eventually come up but when I hear drummers talk, this man is always mentioned as the gold standard of rock drummers But he was so much more... Truly he will me missed but he will live on with the utmost respect from his fans and musicians...forever R.I.P Neil

Thank you for putting this tribute together. I realize now that we all felt we had that special personal connection to Neil, From digesting his beautiful eloquent writing's, We grew up with Rush an all shared the incredible experience in their musical stories. They spoke to us with real meaning, The songs! The complex and wonderful time signatures, That was all Neil ! Geddy & Alex strapped in and tried to keep up! They grew together and with each album another step! measured in our lifetime. Those are the "Sweet Memories" that Neil wrote about so many years ago. This one hurts alot, That really shows us how invested we were with Neil, Alex,Geddy. How much they meant and still mean to us. A once in a lifetime band without question. The legacy Neil left us is enormous ! Thank you...
Neil was a inspiration to us all! He’s the Best Drummer in the world to me! I never met him, or geddy or Alex, but I grew up with their music! There is No one like Rush, but my love for Niels drumming I will miss, his talent, his excellence, his being, his forcite. I love you, thank you for your wonderful performance. I expect to see you in heaven, and give me lessons there. My condolences to the band and to the many lives you have touched. God bless, many tears, Matt.❤️
This had hit me hard. I have loved and followed Rush all my life. Seen them many times and my favorite part of a Rush concert was always the drum solo Neil did. RIP Neil
I have always favored the non-drummer side of Neil. He was so soft, yet confirmed in his thinking about so many things in life and death. I am confident that even so his family currently grieves their loss, they feel so surrounded by his love for life itself. He demanded nothing but perfection from himself, therefore, giving his best in everything was the norm. "How can I be excellent today" was his motto and he lived by it. His drumming will be forever the standard of excellence, but his life will forever be excellent. RIP Neil. I miss you already
Rush is a big part of my life! Typically I don't cry when celebrities pass. I didn't know them and they didn't know me. But, I find myself in total disbelief at this!!!!! Every Rush fan has a favorite album (s) or song that is personal to he or she and I think that is why most, or all, of us feel so connected to Geddy, Alex and Neil. I have shed more than a tear or two at Neil's passing. I stand with all my Rush fans and wish his family, friends and everyone he touched with his music, humor and generosity the best at this sad time.
I can't hold back tears. Losing Neil feels like losing your best friend. He has always felt like that to me. His lyrics have been with me through some of the darkest days and I'll be forever grateful for that, not to mention his incredible drumming. He was such an amazing, humble and incredibly gifted man. I'm so glad I could absorb his wisdom at so many points in my life and I know I will continue because his music will never die in my heart. The Garden has been one of my favourite songs since its release and now it holds even a more special meaning. You've gained so much love and respect, Neil, and I think this is the greatest measure of your life. You've touched so many of us and you've left us with incredible amount of art that we will admire forever.
This is the first time I listened to Rush since his passing. Rush, and Neil were my biggest influences in my upbringing as a musician and as a person. First Neil's drumming is what caught my attention when I was a young aspiring drummer. Then the thought provoking lyrics. Also, the work ethic and humbleness of them all. And how a band should function. Neil's passing for me was "the day the music died". I never could bring myself to listen to Rush song after he died. Until now. And I'm very much glad I did. To hear his voice and to hear his playing rejuvenated my soul today. Closing with "The Garden" couldnt have been a more appropriate. What a swan song, for Neil and Rush. Much love to Rush and the fellow fans I've met over the years at many, many Rush concerts.
Allow me to join in the sorrows of the passing of this great man. Ive shed tears about 6 times but im fairly certain neil would only want a brief display of grief and for us to move on. I'm sure geddy and alex knew about his illness yet they've been doing big things. Neil was immensely important but he wouldn't have wanted us to mourn him for long.
When Neil joined RUSH for the second album, being at that time just starting or maybe a year or so into my Musical career, as my first Music lesson was in August of ‘1974, I had to get “ Caress of Steel “ over to my Drummers House that moment because of Neil’s Style being fresh and Brilliant and the other quality that caught me was the Guitar sound being primarily in the rhythm sound from Alex and the mystery of his signature Harmonic Chords That were so different and clean. My Drummer and I are still friends in 2020 and RUSH has been my #1 influence and continues to be. Thank You Neil for a Lifetime of Quality and self respect reflected in Music and delivered straight to the Heart. I will miss your Poetry yet I’m enriched by your example and continuity reflected by the discipline so clear from the example you Lived and the final gift you gave to me of Faith and Honor and I never thought less of your desire to at least publicly keep clear of the God issue, The band RUSH as a whole has strengthened my relationship with my Higher Power from the very start of your Professional Life I am Happy to have seen you all achieve the Life that so far has eluded me though I’ve given my Music Everything I could however, Some that make it do so by in part the ones like myself who have not but keep working at all for as long as I have Breath and a Heart Beat. Sincerely: Tim @Seattle January 11 2020
What a fitting tribute - I have tears streaming down my face and a hole in my heart. Thank you. There are not very many percussionists in history that fans can point to so many instances in over 40 years of artistry and every one of them knows what is being talked about. From the smash of glass in YYZ to the melodic bells in Closer to the Heart and literally countless others. Rhythmic surprise upon surprise which never distracted from the whole, and yet would have never existed without him. Lyrics that conveyed wisdom, hope, fear, charity, love, loss, and wonder ... humor, satire, and even grief. Worlds real and imagined. Thank you Neil for sharing that part of you that you could share. May you find peace and feel the love that we all have for you. Prayers and blessings be upon his family, friends, and fans.
All this time I think we all realize this Man was great teacher to us all...to reflect on our own selves and make each day as excellent as it can be. So many lives brightened by this man...so much happiness and outright awe. So many stories and positivity. What an honor it is to been around the time he was playing and writing and relating to us.
Great job sir! Been in disbelief for last 24 hours and have watched, listened and read so much from the Professor trying to wrap my mind around the loss. This tribute is the best thus far. Thank you!
Setting aside the amazing musical aspect of Rush we still have the amazing life lessons to be learned from Neil’s lyrics. Those lessons and thoughts are unmatched even by the most enlightened philosopher. Neil taught me what it meant to be an individualist. There is no other band and there will never be a band that gave me as much as Rush did. His passing is about the only thing that hits harder than one of his drum solos. When they finished R40 I hated the thought of a world without Rush but now we are heading into a world without Neil. It’s incomprehensible at this point. “Art as expression, not as market campaigns.”
I saw him 10 times live. Rush has always been my favorite. He was my favorite member. I am just lost that he is gone. Normally when a celebrity death occurs, im like thats a bummer. But when Neil passed, i feel like my inspiration has gone. Rip my inspiration. You will be missed.

I never had an opportunity to meet Neil but I felt connected with him from the first time I heard 2112 and Moving Pictures. He spoke many people through his lyrics and drumming over the past 40+ years. He was gift to so many people around the world. RiP Neil.

He was atheist.

If the world lasts another hundred years, Rush's music 🎶 and Neil's drumming 🥁 will still be relevant. This I truly believe.
Neil’s untimely passing absolutely devastated me 💔 😢
Your words say just how I feel. I play guitar, but Neil was my favorite musician. I'm devastated.
You can count me as one of these people.
Just listening to him talk you get a sense of how intelligent the man is.
I just want to hug him. I know he wouldn't have liked it, but he was so lovely...
So this is what the most interesting man in the world actually looked like. RIP Neil. Condolences to your family, band mates, and close friends. I hope your fans give your family the privacy you requested.
I've seen a lot of people die in my 60 years but this one hit me hard :( RIP Neil and thanks for all the great memories !

Port Dalhousie should do that. Not every place that can say they have a true legend who is a native son or daughter!
Lakeside park, so many memories, willows in the breeze. I hope they do it. This man was a legend in his own time!
I never used the word "Cerebral " until I started listening to him speak in interviews and such. Truly a diamond amongst the rocks.

Beautifully stated my friend.....
johnroosterrod65@gmail.com Wychwood Ave, that is SO true!
THIS...this this THIS...his personal boundaries were his own; I am so glad most of us respect that. I still cannot believe he is gone...
Neil was the only lyricist that inspired me to read books just to figure out what he was talking about. Thanks Neil.

I have no idea what documentary it was in, but I’ve always loved a quote from Neil, “I didn’t want to be famous, I wanted to be good!”

*Afterimage* - Written about the death of Robbie Whelan, the sound engineer for the Permanent Waves album. The lyric that gets me:
_Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon_
*Red Sector A* - Written about the atrocity of Geddy's parents in Nazi concentration camps. The lyric that gets me:
_I hear the sound of gunfire at the prison gate
Are the liberators here, do I hope or do I fear?
For my father and my brother, it's too late
But I must help my mother stand up straight_
*Losing It* - Written about those who've had a talent or skill, and have lost it...leaving them heartbroken. The lyric that gets me:
_Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
With passion and precision
But now his mind is dark and dulled
By sickness and indecision
And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more_
*Nobody's Hero* - Written about the death of a gay friend to either Neil or Geddy(unsure), and of the death of girl who grew up in Geddy's childhood neighborhood. The lyric that gets me:
_As the years went by, we drifted apart
When I heard that he was gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart
But he's nobody's...Hero_
*Ghost Rider*- Written about Neil's travels trying to overcome the sudden deaths of his daughter and first wife. The lyric that gets me:
_Pack up all those phantoms
Shoulder that invisible load
Keep on riding north and west
Haunting that wilderness road
Like a ghost rider_
*The Garden* - Neil's swan song. The last song, of the last album Rush ever recorded. The lyric that gets me:
_The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect
So hard to earn, so easily burned
In the fullness of time
A garden to nurture and protect_

My brother was a HUGE Peart fan.... His music, his books, his love of motorcycles.... He passed 3 months ago, he had a seizure in his sleep. He was 51.The writings on the prayer cards a his wake were the lyrics to "After Image" . . . God how I hope they cross paths on the other side...
Thank you for making this video. I've been devastated since yesterday.
"I can learn to close my eyes
To anything but injustice
I can learn to get along
With all the things I don't know"
River Dog Yes, but they didn’t break the news until Friday. I don’t know about you, but emotions aren’t retroactive.
My heart is heavy, the world has lost a Great man! This is going to take a while to get over. Thank you for the beautiful video
That last song had tears streaming down my face

Neil was a inspiration to us all! He’s the Best Drummer in the world to me! I never met him, or geddy or Alex, but I grew up with their music! There is No one like Rush, but my love for Niels drumming I will miss, his talent, his excellence, his being, his forcite. I love you, thank you for your wonderful performance. I expect to see you in heaven, and give me lessons there. My condolences to the band and to the many lives you have touched. God bless, many tears, Matt.❤️
5:06 He just called Tom Sawyer a "straightforward backbeat 4." Haha Love this man. RIP, Professor. We'll miss you.
This had hit me hard. I have loved and followed Rush all my life. Seen them many times and my favorite part of a Rush concert was always the drum solo Neil did. RIP Neil
Well done. At the end got me bad. Neil will never be forgotten.
Its been a year. Im still in tears. He was an inspirational writer. And one awesome drummer. He will be our professor Rip neal.
The guitar solo gives me chills it's so freaking good.!! Neil you will be missed..RIP.!!
Me too. They were the soundtrack of my life. Only 2 years older than me
This is the first time I listened to Rush since his passing.
Today it would be Neil's 68th birthday. Thinking of him, his friends, family, colleagues and fans and feeling gratitude for everything he gave us. 🙏😊💗
Nicely done my friend.
We stand together in remembering the man who wrote the soundtrack of our lives. R I P ,fairwell to a king.
Sincerely:
Tim

Yeah. Not a good double whammy. :-(
I saw him 10 times live. Rush has always been my favorite. He was my favorite member. I am just lost that he is gone. Normally when a celebrity death occurs, im like thats a bummer. But when Neil passed, i feel like my inspiration has gone. Rip my inspiration. You will be missed.
Hang in there Matt. I'm shattered too. But we will always have Neil here to inspire us...
From the Fountains of Lamneth to 2020 has been a wonderfully long blink of an eye.
Bill McIntosh indeed ... what a treat to have lived and seen RUSH
There are no words to express how COOL Neil Peart was , just such a cool dude, so intelligent, so introspective, so talented, just so cool……….

Wow, that’s incredible. I can only hope to pass on Neil’s lessons and teachings in an attempt to help others as he did for me.
@@entr3_nou5 you have done well I assure you
RIP Professor. You weren't a drummer. You were THE PERCUSSIONIST.

Spirits turned bitter by the poison of envy
Always angry and dissatisfied
Even the lost ones, the frightened and mean ones
Even the ones with a devil inside
Thank your stars you're not that way
Turn your back and walk away
Don't even pause and ask them why
Turn around and say goodbye
People who judge without a measure of mercy
All the victims who will never learn
Even the lost ones, you can only give up on
Even the ones who make you burn
The ones who've done you wrong
The ones who pretended to be so strong
The grudges you've held for so long
It's not worth singing that same sad song
-Neil Peart
RIP professor.
Wish them well? ..or Scars?

The best drummer by some distance. I'll never hear something as beautiful as Xanadu or 2112 again. May his soul rest in peace.
Nicely done. A beautiful tribute for a beautiful soul. Thank you for honoring the professor this way.
Thank you Neil. Your lyrics and especially your book _Ghost Rider_ is why I am still here on Earth. You gave me a new reason to live. Blessings.
Prayers to your wife and 10 year old daughter.
Thank you. This was a beautiful tribute to Neil... moved to tears...
So humble, modest, down to earth. Wish more “celebs” would learn from Neal , Alex, and Geddy. Great respect . Another chapter has ended. You will be missed but always remembered. Thanks for the memories from many a great show. Thanks for posting.
“There are no straight lines in nature”- N Peart.
The man saw everything the rest of us look past.
he literally made his fans smarter every time he spoke ! what a brilliant mind
Malcolm Larri So very true. A more humble soul would be hard to come by, even with his great accomplishments.
Haha , now I have an excuse to be gay , thanks Neil!
@@brunopeixe7949 I know it's a joke but you don't need an excuse or reason to be the way you are! You are valid just being you.
@@brunopeixe7949 Why did you write that? Was Neil gay?
I've felt like a family member / friend died ever since I heard of Neil Peart's passing. I never had an opportunity to meet Neil but I felt connected with him from the first time I heard 2112 and Moving Pictures.
He spoke many people through his lyrics and drumming over the past 40+ years. He was gift to so many people around the world.
RiP Neil.
Wow, that last live performance had me in tears...I wasn't ready for that. RIP Mr...nay... SIR PEART.
