I've had my FTDX10 since December and love it. Initially the quickly disappearing pop ups are annoying, but you can quickly adapt if you want to. Regarding the proximity of the buttons to the tuning dial? Not a problem for a guy with skinny fingers. Alternatively, I've used a stylus for the buttons and for the touch screen. Aside from a few ergonomic quirks, this radio is solid and intuitive. The receiver runs circles against my R390A and my Drake R8. The 12k roofing filter and superhet front end solve the problem of my local 10kw daytime AM station filling the band with spurs (talking to you, Xiegu G90). I've received excellent signal reports from all over the planet on SSB with 100 watts and an off center fed dipole. I got in on the early $1299 price and I consider it a solid bargain.
Agree with everything said above. Can’t say enough about the audio quality. It’s amazing. Hook up a wireless mouse and you’re off and running. Although the FTdx10 is often compared to the IC 7300 it is really in a league of its own. Sherwood Reports #3 transceiver ! Thanks for the quick review.
I bought the 7300 before the FTDX10 was released. A friend let me borrow his. I love the receive filtering especially the DNR on SSB and CW. I have yet to play with the CW function. The relay on full breaking with the 7300 is super loud. The only thing I don’t like is the frequency monitor display. The 7300 has an easier to read display. Also the transmit audio filtering is just superb. I have made a bunch of SSB contacts.
I believe Yaesu made the menu drop out because this was designed for contesting and when you are trying to move quickly thru bands and get that DX you've been looking for you don;t want to have to hit a bunch of buttons to clear the screen and work the contact. I would think enough complaints would get Yaesu to make some changes and eventually maybe a smart ham will figure out how to hack the software/firmware and allow some customizations.
Ergonomics.. buttons inconvenient, but one learns how to work them.. variable time constant on screens annoying, but again can be surmounted.. my biggest irritation is the memory recall.. it's inconvenient, but that may well be just me.. the receiver is extremely good.. repeat, extremely good.. this from an old morse intercept operator from days of old..
I gave a thumbs down. It's incredibly distracting and frustrating for the rig to be wobbling around the screen from left to right incessantly. I tried to zoom in to get a good view of both the front and rear panels and found myself having to try go scroll left and right in sync with the annoying left and right shifting of the rig in the video. Soooo hard to view.
Is it just me, but watching the radios bounce back and fourth on the screen reminded me of the old Atari Pong video game.

Compact? Field radio? So what are the current draws?
Did they fix the screen time?
I bought this radio to upgrade from y FT-991A. I don't regret it for CW functionality.

Yaesu seem to use a circular style in button placement. Icom go by the grid style which I prefer.

My older ICOM 756 Pro3 receives better than the Yaesu. I have both, and they're both excellent rigs.

You must have it set up wrong. The 10 has a higher Sherwood score than any radio ever made except for the much more expensive 101D.
They screwed us with no back lights

You can't be serious. You couldn't pause the video? 😂😂😂
Great radio with great filters! de W2CSI
Indeed it is!
