We're starting to see why giving players long, large numbers contracts is stupid. This man doesn't have to do a damn thing anymore. He doesn't have to care, he doesn't have to perform. He just has to show up. And he knows it. Everyone in the locker room knows it. Training staff knows it. Everyone on the bubble that has to put 110% of their life into the game to be able to hang on by their fingernails knows it. Every player in that locker room that wants to win knows it. They were all saying "fuck that guy" behind his back. Now they can say it to his face.

Well said, it’s embarrassing and disrespectful to the other players who are fighting for their roster spot, or what about all the minor league players who would give up so much to be in his spot, especially when he isn’t playing well at all when he isn’t hurt. If you are going to not care and do what you want at least show up when your on the field.

If he wasn’t getting paid soooo much it would be different, but when you are being paid this kind of money fans don’t want to hear this kind of crap. They want u to earn your the money

Get this guy outta the fuckin league, only taking up a roster spot at this point. Provides nothing to the angels. By far the worst Free agent signing of all time

Retire and get a real job where you make 50K a year and work 5 days a week and 40 hours. You are one of the few lucky people to have a dream job most of use would be lucky to play a game in the MLB. I have zero respect for this dude.

Here’s the thing, most players would say that faith and family come first. The difference is that if Freddie Freeman or Mike Trout or Aaron Judge said this, we would all believe that #3 is baseball. I don’t think Rendon has done anything to dispel the sense that we all get from him, which is that he resents baseball

That’s not all he said tho. He said it’s not a top priority and never has been. Baseball isn’t a regular job. You make that much money, you make it a damn priority. Especially when he’s not playing but collecting that huge check. He’s a douche anyway

Don’t you think that Rendon is giving the fans and media a PREVIEW of what kind of performance he will have this season?
He is already conditioning everyone by giving an EXCUSE why his performance is the way it is ?
Majority of MLB players has their priorities too. Most have their families as top priority but they DON’T use their family as an excuse for their bad performance.
All I heard during that Rendon interview were excuses and more excuses. Using “family” as an excuse to me is not owing up to your own failures - that is sad.

MLB should not be paying out these long term mega contracts that are basically generational wealth that is passed down as inheritance to the players children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. MLB should pay the player, not the whole descendancy after him!!!

  • @TwoPyramid

It's not a question of Anthony Rendon prioritizing "fAiTh and FaMily". That's a ridiculous cope to avoid the fact that Rendon simply finds baseball super boring.

  • @mariodelarosa5722

If Rendon is not giving 100% in doing his job, he needs to retire, otherwise, he's just going through the motions!!!

While AJ make some good points here.. I am not upset about what Rendon said. Its baseball, thats it. His family should come first. I question any player that tells you different.

Wrong guy, wrong message, wrong team. Rendon hasn’t played more than 58 games in four seasons, he’s a total albatross with that contract and the angels consistently miss the playoffs and just lost Ohtani. No one should be talking like this right now on that team especially him
